I chose here because it was right across from the CIBC Theater. Nick was a great waiter, very knowledgeable and easy going. My fiance had the White fish and he really loved it. I have the half chicken and I just couldn't eat it. It was drowning in the lemon butter and was way too over powering. Next time I'll have to try the lobster Mac n Cheese.

nothing we tried was acceptable. Brusshetta was so crumbly and the cheese has a film over it. we only order one and they brought two. so next we tried Spicy Crab Mac & Cheese which was disgusting. no spicy no flavor greasy and crab had horrible smell that we couldn't get past our noses. NEVER AGAIN NEVER......

I read the reviews online and made my reservation before seeing Hamilton. My reservation was complete with my remarks we were seeing Hamilton. The restaurant atmosphere was lovely and the food was divine. Our reservation was for 5:45 and we were promptly seated on time. I expected to be in there easily an hour. I thought we'd have enough time to get outside and take a few pictures before we got in line for the show. I read this elsewhere and I have to agree, it was a little too slow. The waiter was fantastic and kind but I didn't think our dessert would ever get to us. Of course you want to be seated in the theater in plenty of time to freshen up, use the restroom, whatever... before you get your seats. Dessert finally arrived at 7:00 p.m. and we had to eat fast even though the theater was across the street so we could get in line and get settled. We didn't get into our seats until 7:20. If the service was't quite so slow, I would easily give 5 stars and two thumbs up but it just shouldn't take 20 min. to get dessert and then not have the time to enjoy it. I would definitely go back but arrange my time better so I don't stress.

Went for Steak but the pasta and chicken were both delicious. It is expensive as the protein and sides are ordered separate. Conveniently located across from theater.

We reserved our table a few hours early on a Thursday. There was no wait. Staff were amazing, from the hostess, our server and those that came to remove plates as we finished our meal. Our server was amazing. Very knowledgeable and had great recommendations. The food was amazing. Prepared perfectly and so delicious. The fun Hamilton themed drinks were delicious and perfect with dinner. Although we didn't try any wine the selection was great. A bit pricey but very worth it.

Excellent food! I had the pork chop, which is something I've never ordered while eating out. It was huge, perfectly cooked and very juicy. Also had a side of Mac and cheese...very very good. Wife had the filet mignon and asparagus ...she absolutely loved it. In laws had the fish and shrimp special...they couldn't have loved it more. Overall, extremely happy with the food, service and experience. Would go back in a hearbeat .

Went to see Hamilton tonight and right across the street is The Grillroom. Had no idea what to expect but it looked nice. We seated ourselves on the patio and our server, Nick, was at our table in seconds. Nick is one of the very best waiters I've ever had! We ordered one of the specials, serf and turf. Our meal was delivered quickly, but not too quick, and was one of the best filet's any lobster tail I've ever had. This was truly and excellent experience!

Another great experience! Timothy “Tim” was such a great server. I wanted the Southwest salad, but the corn & bean salsa contained onions (I can’t have). I told him that’s my favorite part, but it’s OK to leave it off. He came back and said that he spoke with the chef and they would make a special salsa for me. Tim said it would take a little longer. Well, we received our order quickly inspite of that. He checked with us often, Water was refilled often and because it was our anniversary, Tim surprised us with a free desert. The ambiance was old Chicago supper room. We were so happy to get a comfy booth. The hostess came and talked to us. We felt very special. This is right across from CiBC theater. A great place for a pre or Post theater dinner. My husband ordered an 8oz fillet, which was cooked to perfection. Thank you for good service and food.

The steak was amazing. I got the 8oz sirloin and I'm definitely going back before I leave. The baked potato was not worth another $11 a la carte. They just miss out on the 5 star rating for me because of how the sides are all separate. The service was fantastic, the food was perfect, but the $11 baked potato kinda killed it for me when it was sub par.

We came here since it was right across from Hamilton & we were looking for a good steakhouse. It did not disappoint! We got the 8oz filets with a side of giant baked potato & it was so delicious!! A great cut with very good flavor, it practically melted in your mouth. An added bonus were their cocktails we're Hamilton themed so of course I had to order one (or three). If you're looking for a great steakhouse look no further, though I'd recommend a reservation as a lot of people seemed to pick this place as a place to grab a bite before the play.

We had THE most amazing experience. Liz was our server and we couldn't have asked for better. She helped me pick drinks to try (the Hamilton hurricane and the redcoat Ricky) both were delicious. The crab cake was wonderful. The surf and turf and seared salmon salad were both very good. The flourless molten chocolate cake was a perfect way to end the meal. Liz also helped to make sure we were out in time to make it across the street to the show (Hamilton) while keeping it a secret so I could surprise my partner with the tickets. We will return here any time we are in Chicago.

First things first: You’ve got to try the seafood gumbo. The roux is dark and gives the gumbo an ideal smooth texture as it thickens, and adds a wonderfully nutty aroma. The seafood stock is earthy and melded into the roux very well. The peppers add just a l’il kick. For our visit this evening, our party of three was seated in a booth immediately at 9PM, and we ordered the salmon entree, and a couple filet mignon entrees (an entire roasted garlic clove accompanied each steak). Sides were string beans, and brussel sprouts with crispy smoked bacon bits. The food arrived without much delay, piping hot and full of flavors. (I photographed a few shots here). Wine and cocktails were refreshing. Server was attentive to our requests. Prices here aren’t cheap, but competitive for the neighborhood. Portions are generous, so we passed up dessert. Check out the Grillroom Chophouse — you won’t be disappointed.

Unfortunately not the best experience. $50.00 steak is lackluster, not comparable to most steakhouses that pride themselves in their ‘prime’ steak choices. Oysters inconsistent in size for price. Bread not served with dinner. To top it off service was friendly, but not very attentive. However, I’m sure it was in part due to the overload that our lady bartender was experiencing as management seemed to feel the way to help her was to encourage her to ‘hurry up’. In the meantime other Co-workers were more interested in watching the cub game.

You might think that this place, since it's so close to the Privatebank theater, isn't worth going to. You couldn't be more wrong. If you have to wait on anyone who is at the show this is the perfect spot. Great bar and the calamari is delicious. Plus you have a clear view of people coming out of the show. 4 beers & Calamari ran about $45. I'd go back again.

I highly recommend the pulled pork Mac and cheese, which we got to share, but definitely enough to fill you up as an entree. It's was a little more expensive than expected...but it was worth it! The food is good, and the service is great. I have been there a few times, never more than once or twice a month, and this one server always remembers me. It is a great feeling to be recognized and treated special. They decor is certainly steakhouse 101, which is fine with me. It is a good place to hang with friends or go for a romantic dinner.

I tried the prime rib eye, OMG 22 oz of pure joy, obviously with a good glass of wine. Attention was ok, but they missed my steak in first round, so after dinner they offered a desert as a compensation, great detail.

One of the most tender steaks I've had. We got reservations for dinner before a show. (I was in the room where it happened) and they timed our meal perfectly. The decor is dark wood and very cozy. We didn't drive so I don't know about parking, sorry. It was a pricy meal but worth it.

A group of 5 of us came here for dinner before seeing Hamilton on 9/16/17. This was a unanimous choice by our group for one of our favorite meals of our entire trip. Our server was excellent, polite and attentive but not overbearing. Several of us got Hamilton themed cocktails which were excellent. My entree was a grilled pork chop with wine poached pears, carrots, and demi. It did not disappoint. Everyone enjoyed their food and kept talking about how much we enjoyed the meal for the rest of the night. I think some reviewers have a naive idea how much a pre-show meal should cost. I thought our meal was priced about right given the quality of the food and service we received. I wouldn't hesitate to come back.

This place has a feel of eligance as soon as U enter. Low romantic lighting white table cloths a tempting wine list and 1940's night club music playing. If there was a stage. I would not have been surprised to see Dinah Washington or the great Ella Fitzgerald (although both long dead). I ate one of the best dishes I ever ate in my life. Just two Scallops on top of a bed of diced cooked to perfection vegetables nestled in a heavenly sauce. I got the appetizer portion. It does come as a full entree as well. I gave it only 4 stars because our server was annoyed because I didn't order wine or an entree. She was very put off & treated us as if we stiffed her for a tip.. I have had major surgery. I cannot eat a lot or consume alcohol. I still left her a generous tip. The restaurant offers a variety of steaks as well.

Reservations before Hamilton at 5:45 worked out very well. Service was excellent, except that we heard a few options differently at another table. Soup and salad were very good and the surf and turf was perfectly prepared and served. Cocktails were very good and there was a moderate wine list which wasn't overwhelming or over priced. Good ambiance for conversation , we loved our experience.

I chose the Grillroom for dining because of the positive reviews and the proximity to the CIBC theater. I must say that I am extremely disappointed. My steak was overcooked and my wife's steak was tough. The rest of the food was just okay, not the "wow" effect I was hoping for. To spend $150, I hoped for better. Doesn't make my first trip to Chicago one to remember.
