The staff is excellent here. We started with the spinach dip it was fantastic. I had the grilled Salmon and the lump crab cakes.Both were superb. My guy had the NY strip it was perfect. I had the Ruby red lemon drop martini. It was so good, I had another. He had an old fashioned, he said it was delightful. We've been here 4 times and each time has been the best dining experience

The Grill at the Westin (909 N. Michigan Avenue). Has the most active cockroach infestation that I have ever seen. The cockroaches are in the dining room, and you can see them on the ceiling. The fruit flies are also a major issue here. The health department cited the Westin, and the kitchen manager hired pest control to come out to treat the issue overnight. After the Grill at Westin passed their health inspection (Because the pest control company treated overnight). The corporate office in California decided to fire their pest control company and didn’t even pay them for their services. The kitchen manager approved the work, and the corporate office in California refused to pay the bill. Their response was, “A National company would have been cheaper, so we are not paying at all.” Leaving the local pest control company with no options on how to get paid. If they wanted to get paid, then it would take legal action. The Grill at Westin charges full price for their meals, but they do not pay their vendors. The kitchen is filthy, and full of pests like cockroaches and fruit flies. They do not respect food safety standards and will take shortcuts whenever possible. If you value a clean and safe place to eat, then you should keep shopping. The grill is not a safe place to eat.

The Wild Berry Mojito was amazing. Bartenders were great for conversation and suggestions. If staying at the Westin you can get drinks or a bottle of wine to take to your room.

This was a great place. The prices are a bit high but a nice place for a date or business dinner. I had the grilled pork chop, it was cooked perfectly, but rather fatty compared to others I've had. Service was excellent although the servers seemed rather rushed even on a slow night. Still great food, highly recommended.

Pretty awesome place! A friend of mine recommended coming here for their oyster happy hour on a Sunday afternoon where you get six oysters and a beer for $12. Since I had nothing else going on, I said sure. He told me the place opened at 5 so I should try to get there a little after 4:30. Boy was he right! By 4:45 the line waiting to get in was down the block. At 5, they let us in and the place immediately filled to capacity with a few people stuck outside waiting. It is tiny but that's okay. We sat down, ordered our beers (nice selection!) and a dozen oysters. They go through a ton of oysters so it did not seem any had been sitting around. We had three varieties and they were all very good. There were some from Viriginia and the name escapes me but they were my favorite. We had another dozen and another round of beers. The service was fairly quick and pretty friendly, although the bartender couldn't remember what we were drinking, but that wasn't a big deal. This is a cool place with a nice, laid back vibe. I'm not a big oyster guy but I would certainly not object to hanging out here.

It's been a while coming here, so I decided to get some food. My mother and I came on a Friday evening not to busy got seated immediately and that was the best service. We ended up with a server named Julie and what a horrible experience. In her section was 2 other tables at the time but she took forever to bring a menu over for drinks. So when she finally gets to our table she has this snobbish attitude and asked if we have been here before. My mother replied with yes several times, so you would think that would be enough but nope she continued to act as if we were less than. Which was funny because obviously we've been here enough to know that we wanted a appetizer of the salt and pepper wings that was on the bar menu. Anyway after catering to her other tables "non color" she finally took our order which was the brick chicken split, mashed potatoes with broccoli with some shredded cheese and parmesan on top. I explained that this is the only way that I eat my broccoli. So order came out and the broccoli is wrong and covered in a liquid cheese sauce. I tell Julie and she gets a attitude and said "Well what do you want, it's cheese" but as a paying customer I should be able to get the food the way that I ordered. Needless to say that didn't happen. Oh yes she even accused us of not having paid the bill either which was hilarious because the manager had already ran my credit card, also discussed how we were residents. Julie other tables she definitely made sure that they were satisfied.... moral of the story can't be black and expect great service here!

A few blocks around from The Grill on the Alley, people are lining up around the block to get their palms on some of Chicago's famous steaks. Nobody appreciates, it seems that The Grill on the Alley serves steaks at least as good and has a wine list as interesting as theirs. All the better for those of us in the know, because the spacious dining room here, tucked away behind a lively bar usually packed with sports fans is an oasis of peace, deliciousness and fine service. Let's not tell too many people, ok?

RACIST! I went with my boyfriend for my birthday & recieved horrible service. It first it appeared like perhaps staff was busy & thru out the dinner we started realizing that we just weren't wanted there but they weren't going to refuse service. Waitress barely acknowledged that it was my birthday. Either she didnt care or thought I was lying. Received funny looks from the other patrons because we are an interracial couple. I was trying to go out and celebrate my birthday & have a nice time & this was the opposite experience. And it was a shame because the steak was amazing. I would have liked to go back but not to receive this treatment again. The only staff member that was nice and polite was the Hispanic gentleman pouring water. I would have been happier with him as the waiter

Despite the raving reviews on Yelp, we found our lunch a little bit disappointing. First the coffee wasn't hot, then the meals felt like they were precooked and microwaved. Flavor of the food was good though. They just looked and tasted tired.

We had a great time here to celebrate a birthday. We got a free appetizer, so we ordered Oysters on the Half Shell, which was served with Mignonette Sauce and lemon wedges. The oysters were so small but fresh and full of sea tasty. The burger, The Grill Chop House Burger, came with Thousands Islands Sauce and Coleslaw, and the Steak Poblano Quesadilla, served with flour tortillas, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa dip, along with Caesar Salad on the side, were all delicious. The beef patty was juicy, luscious, and succulent. The Cole Slaw was pretty tasty with peanuts but not very sour. The service was also excellent and friendly.

We stopped here for our final dinner, it was a block from our hotel. Prices are fairly high (35ish+) per plate, but the portions are generous and the food was excellent. The steak was cooked to order and the mashed potatoes were very good. We split a 16oz steak and two sides. Ended up around 100 dollars total with tip and a drink each. Overall rating of 4.5 stars rounded up.

Flawless from start to finish... the staff was extremely attentive, recommendations were excellent and the food prepared to perfection. If you are spending the day on Michigan Avenue and want a great dining experience to top of a day of shopping - this is the place to go. Ask to sit at a table with Bridgett and your experience will be the best it can be.... I’m highly skeptical of Michigan Avenue restaurants - this is a rare exception. 5 stars.

Good seafood as in Chicago. I visited this place twice. I tried it's seafood pasta and snapper, and steak. All of them are extremely good, fresh. I do not like the atmosphere though. It feels like very suburban, but they actually do very good Italian seafood.

Husband and I visited chicago for first time. Dined in this restaurant after reviewing many steakhouses and was very impressed. Price was on lower side of other steakhouse. I loved The Grill On the Alley. I went there last year for a nice dinner. The waitstaff was AMAZING. They were very attentive, they even worked as a team to ensure that we were doing well. They could not have been more polite. The atmosphere was great. I sat in the room with all the frames on the walls. It was very interesting to see the different works they had. The food was delicious! I'm going back this week and I cannot wait!

This place was absolutely amazing! The servers are very courteous and helpful in picking out a wine from their very large selection, and even let us try a sample of a wine we were interested in. The food was also outstanding, and definitely leaves you feeling full. The decor also adds to an overall beautiful experience.
