The Garden Cafe does not offer great food, but it does offer a great ambiance. Nestled in the gorgeous Chicago Botanic Gardens, the cafe offers an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city. In the Spring and Summer, the patio is open and it's a great way to spend the afternoon, reading and sipping on a beverage. The view is calming and it offers a great way to be in nature, while enjoying some creature comforts such as Wifi (which is free) and a comfy chair. The food selection is very basic - sandwiches and soups. Nothing spectacular, but it's not terrible either. The prices are fairly reasonable, I was expecting way higher prices given that this is the only F&B outlet in the Botanic Garden. They recently renovated the interior so it looks very clean, modern and it is quite spacious - definitely enough space to park your stroller if you have one. Overall, a great place to spend a few hours just relaxing.

We went for Sunday Brunch recently. Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 AM to 2 PM. Like all the other times we've eaten here the food was delicious. Lots of little extra flavor touches that make it tasty and interesting. For brunch, you order and pay at a counter and the food is brought to your table. This time we had a mushroom and cheese omelet, lemon-blueberry pancakes with blueberry coulis and a tuna melt sandwich. An outdoor dining terrace with grill is a lovely option when the weather is suitable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The place was impeccably clean. The Garden View Café is really a gem. The cost is very reasonable for a "nice" cafe. The only possible downside of eating delicious food in a gorgeous garden is the parking fee. Even though garden admission is free the cost of parking is typically $25 per car on weekdays and $30 on weekends. Less for seniors and free for garden members. Of course, you could Uber here or take public transportation or bike or walk if you lived nearby to avoid the parking fee. But when combined with a nice long garden visit, often with free concerts during the summer, the parking fee for a meal here seems really worth it.

Nice outdoor seating with lovely views of the garden. Not too much variety in the food.

had great coffee and delicious pastries after walking thru the very cool Asia in Bloom Orchid Show. Garden show was great but $25 to park in a huge parking lot is Robbery. parking should be free or $5 if you pay for the special show/exhibit.

Tasty grill menu in a dutiful natural surrounding. I definitly recommend outside seating unless it's an either too hot or too cold day.

Got an iced caramel macchiato. The caramel was in chunks and was not dissolved properly in the drink. Tasted like diluted coffee for the most part. Plus very costly for the drink. It costed $5.11 for it. Not happy at all.

We ordered the chef special (carnitas flatbread) as well as a beer and a glass of wine. This is a perfect spot to take a break!

Ordered the Chorizo & Pepper Skillet, the meal came out with no chorizo or peppers. We spoke to the staff and they remade it. When it came out again, no chorizo or peppers. My friend got the same thing on a separate order and had no issues and it looked like exactly what we ordered. I'm not sure how you can mess up something so easy when the whole point of us having you remake the food was because there was no chorizo or peppers and you forget them again...also the waiter should know what the food looks like so something this obvious never makes it to a table.

Glass Windows overlook a beautiful garden as you enjoy delicious healthy food in this environmentally friendly, clean, modern café that surpasses all expectations. The menu is a little pricey but the portions are generous and the quality of the food is so good that you leave full and satisfied. We had the tomato bisque and Caesar salad combination and the breakfast panini and were in heaven with every bite. Worth it! Note: we ordered from the menu, we did not take the ready to go snacks and meals from the refrigerators. Eat in- and enjoy the view !

Limited, yet good selection of food. The service is ok but the location is superb.

Terrible service. What a pity that in such a beautiful park they would have a terrible cafeteria. Lunch hour and they have a cashier on her first day. The line is spanning outside of the cafe. The quality of the food is terrible. Reminds me of my middle school cafeteria. "Pizza" is not even what I would call the warm bread with cheese on top. Really a pity. I would make plans to go out for lunch after a visit to the botanical gardens.

Wonderful views with great food. During the warmer months they have a cafe inside and classic Grill food outside.

The outdoor grill has a small selection but the food is organic/local and delicious! Even the salads in the fridge are really good. I'd recommend breakfast there if you are health- conscious and an early riser.
