Wasn’t what I expected. Idk what the steak had done to it before cooking but it was different than any steak I’ve ever had before. The total meal wasn’t bad by any means. But I’ll say this the highlights of my meal were the margarita, the fried cauliflower, and the poutine. Not the $78 steak.

This establishment is a great find. The quality of the food surprised us amoung the typical high tourist areas in Chicago. The service is typically great in all places in the area well however this place has some solid flavors. The appitizer scotch egg was heavenly. The salad was very balanced, pickled beets, asian zing wow. The burger oh my lord wow; most perfect charbroil ive ever had. Desert was light and delish and espresso was perfect. Kids loved their food; family friendly. Highly recommend.

Peter Noreen

A fifty-fifty between myself and my wife: drink options were abundant and diverse and the cocktails well-crafted. My order was delicious: their pork shank with a side of asparagus. My wife was less impressed with her winter citrus salad. The cheese platter was fairly unremarkable. We went during St. Patrick's Day weekend, and I would still declare the wait-staff to be attentive and effective despite the mayhem from the holiday.

Mike McGuire

The food was very good. I had the curry with chicken which was quite flavorful, though the chicken itself was a little bland. While the atmosphere was very inviting, it was overly loud with very few soft surfaces to absorb the noise. It was very hard to hear my companion across the table.

Aletheia Backs

Very busy and crowded, tables way too close together. Could hear every word of the conversations next to us. Extremely loud. Only 10 entree items on the dinner menu. Nothing on the menu appealed to me but I chose the curry because I do like curry and make it a lot at home. Theirs was very underwhelming, barely any curry flavor! It was a very heavy cream. I could make it better myself. My husband got the steak it was very mediocre. Waiter was very mediocre, at best. Spent $170 total for a dissatisfying experience.

Jon Goetz

Great lunch spot in the Loop/Mag Mile. It is very similar to The Dearborn, which is owned by the same restaurant group. I actually prefer The Gage's menu slightly for diversity of options. The menu is not overwhelming, but seems to offer …

Ryan Velting

Nice atmosphere and helpful bartenders.

David Angel

Lovely atmosphere, service, and food. Can be a bit expensive*, but there is a very broad range of options that vary wildly on price. They have a lot more space that it appears from the outside, but they can get quite busy. They are downtown, so parking might be difficult/expensive, but they are really close to the CTA/public transit. They are also really close to a lot of things to do in downtown Chicago, so you can plan a trip around visiting. *A few notes on price: You can probably expect to spend $40-60 per person for a shared appetizer, entree, and a drink. And if you want anything market rate and would be shocked by $45+, ask before you order (they are really nice, so won't be rude to you if you ask).

Danielle Olinger

Absolutley wonderful. The coconut curry is out of this world: truly the best curry I've ever had. Highly recommend as the food, service and drinks are excellent.

Christine Mikolajczyk

Very disappointing this is the third time we've been they are. The food was barely passable. Staff overbearing and irritating

Rolf Hardy

The food was great, staff were highly attentive, and the beer list was good.

Tim M

An upscale Irish pub with amazing selection on the menu! Very attentive staff. Had the yellow curry with scallops and was extremely pleased. A must dining experience in Chicago!

This is a very nice hotel with old time charm. I am guilty in enjoying the old time look of the building but want to enjoy the modern amenities. It was a great experience staying at the hotel. The service was excellent. Our room was comfortable with enough room to move arround concidering that the hotelis located in this major city. The hotel is situated within walking distance to entertainment, restaurants, shopping and other tourist activities.

Corey Dahlberg

The food was great, staff were highly attentive, and the beer list was good. The staff was very helpful despite being extremely busy at lunch time. The place was chill, inviting with an upscale feeling. As a barrel-aged beer drinker, the list was limited, but it was better than most places. Their cocktails are great too!

Chris Roembke

Amazing food and service, plus a stylish yet relaxed atmosphere. Great for brunch or dinner. Definitely getting what you pay for when it comes to the food and drinks. Large portions and strong pours.

Christopher

Best Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich I have ever had

Lindsey

Good location. Nice atmosphere. Great experience. We came here for dinner after leaving the Art Institute near by. My husband and I ordered the oysters, seared scallops, and venison burger which were all flavorful and had a thoughtful presentation. Our server was very attentive and suggested some sound cocktail options.

Nima Shams

The service, food, and ambience are good. The prices are as expected given the location. The diverse menu is helpful!

Tina DC

We came here hungry and wearing very casual clothes, worried we were under dressed in our flip flops and t shirts, but decided to give it a try. The staff was super welcoming as soon as we walked in, the ambiance was friendly, classy, drinks were superb and the food was AMAZING. We got the 20 oz steak and scallops as our entrees. The steak was huge and filling and the scallops were quite filling as well since you get 4 large diver scallops on the plate. Both proteins melt in your mouth, a foodies dream. Huge shout out to our server Wes, who made the experience feel like we were talking to an old friend, we didn't want to leave! His service made the visit even more memorable and has definitely put Gage on our map for our next visit. We hope you enjoy our recommendations for when you visit Seattle!

Tim Patterson

I would give it 2.5 stars. I've been there twice. Drinks are good. But I experienced lapses in the food. I got the scotch egg on both occasions once it was cooked through, the other the yolk was still gooey. One time I got hair in my food and was still charged for that item, didn't make a fuss about it though. Entrees run on the small side so an appetizer or dessert might be in order.

Alice Carpenter

Good location for quality American food. service is always excellent even when they have a full house. prices that won't shock you. i see why this place has so many good reviews.

Alex Telidis

Family recommended, food was great, cocktails were delicious, and the server was very friendly and helpful.

Arianna Howell

My top location for delicious American food. Nice place to meet and catch up with family. Prices that won't break you.

Ossamah Sharafuddin

I dined at The Gage once during my corporate training in Chi-town. Our group was about 8 people. Every single one of us was ‘wow-ed’ by this place. Luckily we made reservations prior to our dinner, so we were able to skip the wait for that busy Friday evening. The menu is by far one of the most unique menus you will experience. Exceptional food and beautiful delivery to guests. Prices are above the average, but this place does not disappoint! - Ossamah Sharafuddin

Susan Hinch Huber

We had a very nice time! The food was great and exceeded our expectations.

Allie Moore

Was significantly nicer than what I assumed based off looking on google. We showed up in t shirts and jean shorts and were very underdressed. Oh well, we weren't treated poorly because of it thankfully. The food was great and not horribly …

Beau Harrison

Nice atmosphere. Good food. Decent service. We recommend the fried pickles; the Serrano aioli is delicious.

Ted Kozelka

Excellent food, modern decor, good cocktail menu.

Danny Donovan

I have only been here once and did have an enjoyable experience while ordering a couple of cocktails and a venison burger as my meal. The Cage has a nice upscale feel with exceptional service, true professionals. The atmosphere is very nice too, whether stopping in for happy hour or enjoying a full meal. All in all the food is quite good at reasonable prices, I would not hesitate to return again.

Sean Brady

Great place for people watching on the patio. Really enjoyed this place. Excellent from beginning to finish. Chicago has so many great dining choices, but this one is worth the stop if you’re in the area!

Clory Stephans

Love the food here & the sophisticated chill of the place. The desserts are fantastic!

Millie Espieg

Fish and chips were really really good as was the beer. Noisy and busy. Sign of good food!

Susan Richerson

Had the burger, it was good. Little upscale. Pretzels were odd and not many served for price. Atmosphere was good. Server was pleasant. Glass were kept full. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Lots of dishes has curry which I thought was odd.

Ed Fitzharris

A really good place to go to have good food along with good pints!!!

Renay Readette

Amazing special on the menu cod, crab, veggies and requisite apperal spritzer

DJ Williams

The Gage is awesome! It's on Michigan Avenue near Millennium Park and the Art Institute. It's a great spot for sightseeing and a meal. The host staff is on point and very welcoming. I've been here several times and the service is always amazing. The place is super busy but my servers really are always on top of their game. I always feel cared for because the servers are that good. Then there is the food. Everything I have tried is terrific. The kitchen absolutely knows what they are doing. Overall this is a perfect spot for tourists and locals alike.

Mary Pritchard

Great drinks and tasty food. Good service for being such a high traffic spot on Michigan Ave.

Chris Sosnowski

Always an excellent experience at the Gage. Service staff have always been kind, patient, and just the right level of attentive. The food there is always 5 stars in my opinion. I've brought my family here, co-workers, clients for a couple of years and haven't ever been disappointed. Had their home made ice cream dessert the last time I was there and it could have been the best I've had. It was that good. Location is awesome once you find parking. ;-)

Update from July 2019: Had a blast at my last visit. Still fantastic food and drinks and service. This was our second visit. Another great dinner experience. Both our server and the manager were super professional and accommodating. It's a very well run place: Water glasses were filled and dishes bussed quickly and efficiently. We loved the poutine especially. The desserts were fantastic. It's a great place to take a break from your day in Chicago with great food and drinks: They have a great selection of draft beer. For its prime location (right across from the Millennium Park on Michigan), the Gage is of great value. Will visit again.

Raquel Hoover Crump

Came here with friends for dinner. The mussels (appetizer) was so big I had it as my entree! Full, nice size 1 lb of mussels. They had a little kick, so they were a little spicy. The restaurant is pretty dark at night so it's hard to see but it doesn't ruin the meal. The wait staff was very kind. This restaurant is pricey so it's ideal for a nice date night or celebrating a great accomplishment!

Gayle Hutchings

Good coffee and great breakfast entrees to choose from. I was not disappointed in the house made cornbeef hash with egg. Loved the lemon poppy seed pound cake.

George Hudson

A fifty-fifty between myself and my wife: drink options were abundant and diverse and the cocktails well-crafted. My order was delicious: their pork shank with a side of asparagus. My wife was less impressed with her winter citrus salad. The cheese platter was fairly unremarkable. We went during St. Patrick's Day weekend, and I would still declare the wait-staff to be attentive and effective despite the mayhem from the holiday.

Luke Duggan

Food was great. Service was amazing. The specials we had did not disappoint. Would recommend!

Ben Meyers

Amazing food and staff the was very nice and we'll dressed with a positive vibe. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Ray Antonio

Excellent food and good service.

Christopher Thompson

This restaurant is all about service and quality! The jerk pork Benedict was excellent! A nice jerk rub and smoked to perfection. They're not only wanting to make sure you're satisfied with your meal but they take an interest in your experience in the city and are willing to offer suggestions. Well done Gage Brothers!

Curtis Achterhof

Food was good. Service was lacking in speed and promptness.

Dalt Brewsher

After visiting the Cloud we headed over to The Gage for lunch. Popular spot just before noon so we were glad we had reservations. Front bar area is a bit loud so request a table further back in the restaurant for a quieter table. Food was excellent, burger was perfect, fries were hot, crispy and nicely seasoned. Service was terrific, reasonable prices.

Amelia Jane Castle

Only disappointment is when a favorite item is taken off the menu. Love this place for its food, service and ambience. I always take out of town guests here. Enjoy the mushroom sandwich!

Adam Kroeger

Service was fantastic and the Oktoberfest menu was incredible

Angie Pangie

It is a great little spot, perfect for people watching. A friend recommended this place and so glad we decided to check it out. We went there for brunch this past Sunday. You have to try their tangerine mimosas. Deeeelicious! I had the Irish breakfast and oh my so much food. A few different homemade sausages, baked beans, back bacon, grilled tomato, over easy eggs and toast. I could not finish it all but everything on the plate was absolutely scrumptious. My partner had the pecan banana pancakes with a side of maple bacon. She cleaned up her plate and said the bacon was perfect. We had a bit of a wait for the food but we were on vacation so we did not mind. The manager actually ended up covering our entire meal for the wait. So shocked as we never complained but unbelievable customer service! Top notch!

John Harkness

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The host surprised our kids with crayons and paper and asked to see the pictures when they were done. Of course the food was amazing -it won a Michelin award-. I had the venison burger and my wife had the seared scallops. Both were incredible.

Andrew Kaylor

Had a fine experience at The Gage. Quick and friendly service was a great way to end St. Patrick’s day. Large wine and cocktail selection. Our waiter, Stephen, gave great recommendations and opinions on his personal favorites on the menu. He was also very accommodating when a item on the menu wasn’t available. I would recommend the Gage to anyone visiting town. There’s something on the menu for everyone!

Doris Barnett

Amazingly delicious deserts! The boy says good food and good tea. I tried to take a picture of the food but we ate it too quickly.

Christina Collins

Nice quieter attractive atmosphere well suited to a business lunch. Service was OK but not great for example the appetizer arrived with no dishes to eat it. Food was OK but not great for the price. For example, the pumpkin soup tastes like acorn squash, heavy on the cream with no seasoning. The mussels appetizer was very good and huge. Everyone ate their meal but no one was excited by it. I was slightly disappointed given this restaurant's reputation and will not be back.

Knut Næsvold

Great bartenders! Nice place with a nice menu and great food. Located right on Michigan Av.

mark o'dell

Good food, good bar selection, friendly wait staff, probably the best place to go when walking from Millennium Park

Chelsey Morgeson

The cocktails we ordered were not very good and the food was a bit overpriced. If you're looking for a meal near Millennium Park then The Gage is certainly a close option, but your money may be better spent elsewhere.

Filia Arga

The food was great but not particularly exceptional. The service was BEYOND AMAZING though. And for the location and this type of upscale restaurant, the prices are really affordable. We were a bachelorette party group of 11 people --ten bridesmaids with one bride-- having brunch on a weekend. We are headed to the Union station right after brunch so we had big bags with us. The staff kindly checked our bags in. We also arrived 15 minutes early but our table was ready, no waiting needed. The waiters were very friendly and are quick to refill our water and coffee. They also checked back frequently to see if we are happy with the food or if we needed anything else. They were okay with us splitting the bill with 10 different credit cards. And as a kind gesture, they even gave us a discount that reads "Congrats" on the bill -- basically the bride's food was on the house. I cannot think of a better place to have brunch in Chicago. I will definitely come back and I'd recommend this place to anyone who is looking for outstanding service, great ambiance, and great food in Chicago.

Elliott Swan

Expensive, loud, slow service and the food isn't fantastic. Good cocktails though

Dorothy Wright

I eat here often. The service is good, although it is a popular place, so you can wait at the table in the evening. It is worth the wait. Very interesting and tasty place with modern cuisine, all the dishes here are very juicy, high-level restaurant. Highly recommend

Ben Tuttle

Fried pickles and fish and chips were good. Nice beer selection, but lacking in the IPA front. Staff was nice but not very attentive. And the salads, OMG so much dressing. We joked about asking for a side of greens to go along with them. I know some people like that and if so this is right p your alley, but it was too much for us.

Jane Primazova

Fancy place. Great, convenient location for events in the heart of the city. Food is always good and service is courteous. Pricey.

Jonathan Gordon

A delicious 3 course vegan meal! On a very busy summer Saturday evening our reservation was honored with prompt seating. The room was a bit loud for me. Not quiet the time and place for an intimate romantic dinner for two, but a great choice for a party of 3 or more for a fun time.

Michelle

Yummy brunch! Nice cocktails and good location.

Sean Hogan

This is an outstanding restaurant, if you are in the area and looking for a great meal you can't get too often anywhere else with splendid service. Paul was our waiter, he was very knowledgeable, brought our meals out in perfect timing, did a great job making sure we were happy with our meal a few minutes just after we began digging into our dinner. Wonderful Old Fashion here too, I highly recommend, their square ice cube is impressively crystal clear! (As seen in the pics I attached.

Jeff Baker

Great food, great service, very busy but efficient!

Funny Vines XD

People with food allergies - AVOID this restaurant! My daughter and I went here for dinner after a game. They have a cauliflower dish with almonds and I requested none for us due to an allergy I have. The waitress assured me they would flag it for the kitchen. After the dish was served we began eating it and soon I bit into a nut. I let the waitress know right away. And there were many chopped nuts in the middle of the dish. At first they said it was breadcrumbs. And it wasn’t. My daughter and I both saw the nuts. They charged us for the meal and only gave us a $21 discount. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant. That type of mistake could have cost someone their life.

Genevieve Hebeka

Great food. Lines were not too awful. Good service. Some different selections, plus spins on old favorites.

Samuel Waggoner

After visiting the Cloud we headed over to The Gage for lunch. Popular spot just before noon so we were glad we had reservations. Front bar area is a bit loud so request a table further back in the restaurant for a quieter table. Food was excellent, burger was perfect, fries were hot, crispy and nicely seasoned. Service was terrific, reasonable prices. Outstanding service with a large menu. My friends and I enjoyed a lovely dinner after Hamilton! Just a short walk down the street from the theater.

Cherry Vujevich

Great location across from millennium park. Mussels were fabulous, easily 2 lbs. Of plump, juicy mollusks. Tarragon/fennel broth was soooooo good for dipping toast. Friendly service, good wine pour for the price. Definitely would return.

Tanja Bishop

Crazy good food. Impeccable service

Julia Valadez

The specials are always delicious and the service is impeccable.

Satwinder Singh

What a delight! The food and the staff were awesome. Very knowledgable about the touristy fractions around. The burger I had was delicious and the drink to wash it down was refreshing. I was by having a late lunch/dinner after spending 5 hours across the street at The Chicago Art Institute, 3 of which were spent on Eduardo Manet’s gallery... so this was rather delightful.

Naushin Ali

I was looking for a gastropub near my hotel to enjoy some food while also having a chance to work. The service here was excellent and the food/drinks were amazing. I don't often dine solo but I enjoyed sitting at the bar with my textbook while having the poutine and a few drinks. As a Canadian I approve their creative take on the dish. My neighbour enjoyed his venison burger too. Highly recommend the Gage Old Fashioned; while the pillow talk was also good, I'm more of a whiskey gal. Given its central location right off Michigan Ave and near Millennium Park, there were tons of travelers here so you won't feel out of place if you're looking for a place to make home for a few hours.

Kevin

Pricey but the food is really good, so I don't feel ripped off. Their whiskey selection is huge if you like that sort of thing but be aware the prices can go up to $100 or more for a shot of rare whiskey.

JD

Great food and atmosphere. Sat back by kitchen but noisy.

Christopher Stevens

Excellent food and service but limited healthy menu selections.

Nick Barber

Great food and drinks! Had the venison burger with additions of egg, bacon, and avocado. It was difficult to eat because it was so big but it was delicious. Great spot with friendly staff!

Diego De La Jara

Great atmosphere and walking distance from the bean. Drinks are amazing I recommend their version of an old fashioned. Appetizers were great as well as service. They also have live music some nights.

Tony Mahieu

Food was great, and we really liked the atmosphere. Location was convenient for us. I'd recommend it if you're looking for quality food.

Patricia Rumschlag

Great food, great service, great atmosphere.

Mark Sigunick

I regard the gage as one of the few good downtown restaurants. Its preparation and use of mushrooms is a small sauteed miracle. Near perfect. The lack of a decadent dark chocolate on the dessert menu is curious

Erica Wang

Excellent service! The teams here are incredibly well coordinated. And I never had an empty coffee cup during Saturday brunch. Lovely patio seating. What was disappointing was the actual food... I had the Jamaican Pork Benedict - the pork was super dry, chewy, and even hard whilst the English muffins were drowning in grease. For $17, I would have hoped to have more than a few chunks of asparagus. My cousin ordered the summer beet salad, and all I saw were kind of light yellow-green frisée leaves with carrots and some pea pods. She isn’t someone to complain, but her friend and I were a bit surprised at the quality of the salad. Her friend had the corned beef hash, which looked ginormous and yummy; she seemed to enjoy it. Perhaps I’ll have to go with a burger next time.

Brielle Guzman

Very nice restaurant and excellent food

Linda Johnston

The food was delish....the service was not!

Anne Komac

Not a bad place, but not amazing either. The food was adequate (but priced as if it were excellent), the service was efficient but not friendly, and the atmosphere was attractive but incredibly loud. I'm not exaggerating when I say we had to shout across the table to have any conversation.

Vitalia Dosta

I came for brunch and the service and food was delicious. Had the lobster roll and venison burger and creme dessert thingy.

Tony Buck

It's your average gastropub, with average gastropub fare. She and I both ordered the fish and chips. The fish was fine, the chips lacked crispness. She said get ice tea was freshly brewed and tasted good. The service was very good, we were not forgotten, but not pestered.

Clovis Coffey

My wife & I met friends there for drinks & had a wonderful time. I felt under dressed because I had forgotten to change out of my shorts & tennis shoes & 2 servers advised me not to worry about it & set my mind at ease. We received excellent service from Miss Maggie, who managed to raise my spirits with her friendly smile & joyful demeanor after I had had a little stress during a seemingly longer than usual day. Maggie kept our water filled, as well as our libations flowing after a long day, which was very appreciated by all four of us. We all had a wonderful experience at GAGE, which ranged from the pleasant greetings that we received upon entering the establishment (setting a wonderful tone), to the helpful directions from a server (not ours) to locate the restroom who had simply read my facial expression of confusion & bewilderment when I was searching for the restroom, to the wonderful service that we received from our server Miss Maggie and the bar service. We'll definitely be back!

G Waterman

Great service. Good atmosphere.

Darya Jackson

The Gage is a great restaurant, very pleasant waitstuff, the owner talked to me twice, it is truly high-class heart-of-Chicago restaurant. I want to tell you about Old Fashioned cocktail I enjoyed at this restaurant. The cocktail is served in a short cylindrical glass where diameter is equal to height. Ice cube was very fancy - it was 1 solid cube that was inscribed in the cylinder with geometrical precision. It inspired me to do the math on what percentage of drink vs ice by volume is in my glass. Since we are talking percentage, we don't need exact measurements. The side of a square inscribed in a circle with radius of 1 is square root of 2. Therefore volume of the ice cube is 2.83. Volume of the cylinder with radius 1 and height of square root of 2 is 4.43. The Old fashioned is the difference between the volumes of cylinder and cube, namely 1.6. Finally, the volume that was filled with liquid, was 36% Old Fashioned and 64% ice. 1 part drink, 2 parts ice.

Gigi Munguia

Service was decent. Hot waiter. Salad was lacking.

Andy Greenwald

Good food and good service. I was just expecting delicious and this was simply good.

Myles Vinh Farr

Good lunch food. Seated right away. Interesting menu, and solid food. The burger is great. Also, they have free refills on non-alcoholic drinks.

Yasat Sarwar

Good food, great atmosphere, awsome location!

Shara Dunlap

Wonderful place! Great customer service and service

Keith Cross

Came all the way from Niles Michigan to eat here. The food was awesome and the staff were awesome as well. Will be back for more

Renee Wilson

Good selection of unique brunch items. Service was exceptional. Coffee was good, nice touch of elegance with monogrammed plates and cups. Beautiful architecture.

Michelle Choi

Went here for lunch. It was busy but they were able to seat us right away. The food is so good!! I had the spicy grilled chicken sandwich. Would definitely come here again.

Raymond Li

Great food and service, what's not to like?! Tip: if u don't have reservations u can sit at the table tops which are first come first serve.

Tony Pan

Nice bar and restaurant with amazing food and service. Close to Millennium Park, perfect location with good views

Jenny Bernard

Love the Gage hamburger, juicy, richy and yummy, drinks werw good as well, must try this restaurant, supper friendly staffs..

Soroush r

Good food. Pretty pricey, but understandable considering the location! Good selection of local and non-local beers!

Greg Williams

Try the venison rack! Great food and service!

M G

Service is good. Food is great and not too pricey. The place itself is quite cozy, a favorite for me when all you need is peace and quiet

Rytas Vitkus

The cheese board and the Jamon Iberico appetizer weren't very good bang for the buck. Lotta filler, not nearly enough meats and cheese for the price. Cool presentation though! The Venison Burger however was amazing and redeemed the appetizers big time.

Daniel Valentino

The Gage is a classic American Gastropub located in the heart of the Loop on Michigan Ave across from the Bean. The bar is excellent and they have a deep wine list that is well paired with the menu. The duck egg and sausage appetizer is unique and very good, and I strongly recommend trying it. I also like their fried pickles. If you're in the mood for a burger, I highly recommend the Venison Burger. I really liked the Sicilian red that the waiter recommended; it went well with everything. The fried cauliflower was a little burnt. I would have liked to give them a higher score, but the cooking was a little inconsistent - the sausage was a little undercooked, and the venison was a little overcooked. Overall, a good value among Michigan Ave restaurants.

Jonathan Carter

We ate lunch at The Gage after visiting the Art Institute of Chicago. This was the best meal we had in Chicago over a four day weekend. I ordered the short rib sandwich, which was the special for the day, and it was absolutely delicious. My 16-year-old and his friend both ordered the fish and chips which were also delicious. My mom said her lunch was also very good. Mom and I both ordered the gin and tonic and they were the prettiest Gin and tonic’s I have ever seen and very well-made. We also ordered the blueberry bomb dessert and it was light and refreshing. The atmosphere was great and so was the service. Would absolutely go here again in a heartbeat.

Amanda Hartman

A welcoming atmosphere with diverse lunch options, quality food and the desserts are both beautiful and delicious. A bit noisy but it's a popular spot, and the noise settled once the lunch rush was over. Not over the top pricey either. Great place to walk to and eat after, if you're visiting the Art Institute. Reserve ahead and you won't have to wait too long for a table.

Dan Gray

Great bar food with good options at reasonable prices. Great staff.

Chris Metzker

How not to love it. Great food

Terry Przybyl

Second time here, was not disappointed, the food is excellent, service is wonderful, and the have homemade sodas! Definitely make reservations as they seem to be very popular!

Tracy Brown

This is an outstanding restaurant. Great food!

Jennifer Carr

Food here are very good and very nice staff

Billy Scola

Hands-down one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Came here before Hamilton at the CIBC (which is just a few blocks away, this is a perfect pre-show dinner spot). Food was fantastic, atmosphere was upscale but comfortable and inviting. Most importantly, I have to mention our server, Wes, who was the key to making the experience so great. Despite the restaurant being busy, he was attentive, kind, and went above and beyond to make our evening special. We had such a good time at dinner that we came back for dessert after the show and were wowed once again by the food and drinks. Wes had a vast knowledge of wines and spirits and took us on a “tour” through the drink menu. We wanted to try new things, and both Wes and the bartender, Jack, made excellent recommendations. I will absolutely be going back to Chicago, if for no other reason than to visit the Gage again.

Francisco L.

Food was great. This place is as classy as it gets. Penhaligon's products in the restrooms!
