Best burger in Lincoln Square! I do not remember the name of the burger I had, but it had grilled onions and barbecue sauce on it. The fries tasted very good, perfect texture in my opinion. I personally really liked the Montreal poutine, with cheese curds and gravy, because we rarely find it in Chicago anymore. Would recommend for burgers and fries in Lincoln Square. 5/5

Small menu, but yet a wide variety of quite different choices that you won't find anywhere else. They keep a jar of water at each table which is nice, no waiting for refills. The staff is extremely nice and checks on you frequently and will explain the menu if requested. They also offer dessert but you don't need to know that because the food is so filling you might not even finish your plate. It was an extremely delicious place with many great qualities. 10 out of 5 stars

Burger was good (truffled ricotta). Fries were okay but were not hot which was disappointing because they came with all burgers. Maybe need to cook them in smaller batches so they are fresh. Hot fries are the best and easy to do. Cant remember my servers name but I really liked him too! Would have given four stars IF fries were hot.

Gourmet burgers at a fair price with gluten free options for all! I had the Reuben burger on a non GF bun and my girlfriend had a delicious burger on a GF bun. Their burgers are some of the best I've ever had. I also enjoyed their craft draft beer selection as well. My girlfriend also had plenty of gluten free cider and beer options as well to choose from. These are all great selling points with me and I will be back for sure!

I decided to try the Elvis's Last Supper burger with tuffle fries, and cheese curds. The burger was good eats and the cheese curds was average. The fries however was on the cold side. DISSAPPOINTED. Besides that I would go back because the service was welcoming and nice.

Here is where you'll find one of, if not if, the best burgers in the city (and that includes Au Cheval and The Loyalist). The staff is so friendly and welcoming. The space is lovely to spend a few hours in. It's off the beaten path and one of the best places in North Center, and the city of Chicago itself.

Great burgers. They're thick and juicy. They have a huge beer list. 25 beers on draft, another 50 or so bottled. Unbeatable deal if get there for happy hour. Burger, fries and draft beer for $10. They have outdoor seating if you wanna bring your dog and chill. If I lived in this neighborhood, I'd be here every week.

Friends have been telling me to visit The Bad Apple for a while. Tonight was my first visit and I was not disappointed. I found myself wanting to try more and more things on the menu. We had a few beers. We were excited to see Cigar City Brewery on Tap. I also had a cocktail and an appetizer. Everything was delicious and came quickly. Bartenders were attentive and friendly. We will visit again!

Caution, review from a self-acclaimed burger aficionado. I've been to The Bad Apple 3-4 times and had different burgers each time. They are some of my favorite burgers in the city- the chef cooks a perfect medium that is insanely juicy. Last night, my bf and I found ourselves starved at 12AM - when he mentioned Burger King, I thought surely there must be a better burger in the late hours of the early mornings... I was so delighted to see that The Bad Apple is open till like 3AM or something. We ordered the "The Fig is in" -- fig, goat cheese and onion jam on a burger is everything it sounds like. I highly suggest the chipotle seasoning on the fries. Their homemade ketchup is an interesting combo of super vinegary and sweet- but in weirdly good way.

Got lunch here mid afternoon on a Saturday. Wasn't packed or too loud which was great. They have a wonderful beer list including local and rare options. They will have something for everyone. I got the roman patty melt which was great and overly extravagant as the name suggests. A classic melt but with an egg and mushrooms and then it's griddled with mayo to get a nice crisp outside of the bread. My fiance got the Elvis which is a burger with bacon and peanut butter which she says was great. The Bad Apple? More like the Very Good Apple in Lincoln Square!

Fun neighborhood bar that's off the beaten path. Burgers were really tasty, but make sure to order them medium rare - I made the mistake of ordering mine medium and it came out too dry to enjoy. Management was really nice about it and offered to get me a new burger free of charge. Fries and ketchup were nothing special. I tried both the Elvis's Last Supper and Señor Sloth. I really wanted to like the Elvis, but it was a bit plain. The Señor Sloth was really good though - the salsa and pineapple complemented the meat really well. My girlfriend also enjoyed her Thunderdome. I don't know if I'd return just because of how far it is from downtown, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're already in the neighborhood.

Really good burgers! There are so many to choose from so its hard to decide what to pick. Some very unique and different burgers with one featuring peanutbutter. The wait was kinda long and they have a weird waiter team system where practically everyone was your waiter.

This is a go to whenever I want a great burger or if anyone is visiting from out-of-town. We recently had a group of 20 for Friday dinner and the staff was unbelievably accommodating and the service was impeccable. I cannot give Bad Apple enough praise. It's a must when visiting Chicago or as a regular local burger joint. And they have a ridiculously huge beer selection. Always a great meal and experience.

Food we were served (5 of us had the same thing) was pretty bad - tasted as if the kitchen staff was emptying the freezer from all the old meat. Wagyu burgers tasted terrible and those didn't even look right. Needless to say, me and my lunch crew will not be visiting Bad Apple any time soon.

My boyfriend and I were excited to try some of the burgers here. We were seated right away. But we had no idea who our waitress/waiter was! One person took or drink order, another person took out food order, a guy came and brought us our food, no one checked on us until the end of our meal when my boyfriend had to get the attention of a waitress for a soda..... so yeah food was great, water was warm, service was disorganized.

I love this restaurant! They always have great burgers. I am pregnant and could not drink, but my husband and friends did. They loved the beer menu! The servers also know the food and drink menu inside and out--it is quite impressive! We went around 5:45pm on a Saturday night and only waited about five minutes for a table for the four of us. Food was delicious, lots of flavors. Everything is homemade. Gotta try the ketchup. They have a awesome burger special which includes a beer. I would say that most good beers from the special where sold out. The server could have been a lot better at explaining the beer choices. She was mostly in a hurry and made us feel like we needed to order in a hurry. Rather than that this a great place to get a good bite and some good beer.

This was our second time here. The food was great, I wanted what I had last time so I didn't get anything new. I ordered Elvis's last supper which has peanut butter and bacon. A strange combo at first, but it's worth trying once. We went late in a Saturday and it was hard to find a place with an open kitchen. This place and Kuma's corner on Belmont serve food later than most (1a.m.). Last small note, they have a great music playlist.

A must try in Chicago if you’re looking for a good burger. They’re huge, delicious, and inventive. The vibe is unique with dim red lighting, and the service is good. Check out the peanut butter burger! My wife and I split the Elvis burger (peanut butter, bacon) and added white cheddar, fried egg, and a pretzel bun. The additional ingredients drowned out the peanut butter a bit, but it was still fantastic, and very filling. We also split Da Bears Burger (brisket, chipotle cheddar sauce, pretzel bun) + a fried egg. It was excellent, although not quite as good or filling as our custom Elvis (in our opinion). They’re both great. The fries were average, not particularly good or bad. They had a bit of a burnt taste. We got one normal order, and one with garlic seasoning - which didn’t pair well, and made the fries kind of soggy. We’ll skip the seasonings ($0.75) and ask for extra crispy next time! Our server was attentive and helpful when we had questions. The water jug was always full, which is a huge plus in my book. Overall, we’ll definitely be back when we’re in the mood for a big, tasty burger. Random observations: - Definitely get the pretzel bun. - All of the burger add-ons were $1 or less! - They don’t have chips, sweet potato fries, tots, or any directly comparable substitutions.

One of my go to spots anytime I visit Chicago. The food here is truly spectacular. Cheese curds are a must get and their weekly specials are usually creative and delicious. Burgers are the star of the show here and come piled with toppings on large house blend patties. Great beer list and service, though the one minor gripe I have is that they do not have an up to date online beer list.

We have been to The Bad Apple quite a few times and generally go in the late evening for burgers and drinks. The menu is entertaining and the burgers are very good. I recommend the truffle fries with your burger. Appetizers and non-burger items are also on the menu. They have a good bar that is what you might expect. Always a good, relaxed atmosphere and the industrial style artwork displayed is worth seeing.

Go for the happy hour, so worth. Great selection of brews to go with their diverse burger menu. Paid the extra 75 cents to get spicy seasoning on my fries,I believe they called them fireworks and it definitely added a punch. My fiance had the truffle seasoning for the fries, also 75 cents, and they had a lot of umami flavor. If I'm in the area and able to catch the happy hour burger and beer for 10 bucks, I'll be coming back.

Overall: Bad Apple deserves to be up there in the “Best burger in the city” discussions. A must-try! The good: Right up there with some of the best burgers in the city, with a competitive price to boot. The burgers are cooked perfectly (I chose medium) and are filling yet not overwhelming like say, Au Cheval or Kuma’s. The different choices are obviously a draw, and I went with the Fig Is In and it did not disappoint. I’ve had plenty of interesting burgers but never one with fig on it, and it was sweet but also paired well with the savory-ness of the burger and sauce. Definitely trying the peanut butter one next time. The fries are also amazing; crispy and plentiful! And, it would be remiss of me to say that the service and atmosphere are both great (great music too). The not-so-good: The cheese curds are expensive and are not the type that I love. They are a bit more hollow and crunchy, whereas I prefer the gooey “pull apart” ones. Still, they’re cheese curds, so it’s good haha. Food/drinks: 9/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 9/10

Bad Apple. Great neighborhood burger option with good beer available as well. My two year old went flying out of his chair and slid across the restaurant, and it wasn't even that humiliating due to the nice staff and family friendly atmosphere. Tip: enjoy the subtle difference makers such as their delicious homemade ketchup and other condiments, the beautiful option of customizing the seasoning on your fries. The only reason why this isn't a 5 star review, is there vegetarian options aren't nearly as good as their carnivorous ones (veggie burger is underwhelming, veggie poutine mysteriously comes with marinara), so I apologise for the personal bias, all around recommendable eatery though.

This is a really good Burger place. Atmospheric effects are reminded me a old fashion European next door to the university campus kind. Burger meat is stunningly fresh and grilled/cooked just right. Fries are delicious with the truffle salt. Although it might be my taste, loving seasoning but not that much salt, everything was a little bit salty than it should. Overall fresh made and tasty.

This is a great place, the theme is New Mexico roadkill steampunk, and the staff is incredibly nice and kind. The atmosphere is very lively on a Friday night and the menu is very creative and witty, ask about their pickle platter. This isn't your typical bar come to have fun!

This is not your every day food! Even the "normal" meals bring something extra to the table in both flavor and presentation. I had a meal of small bites, a mix of their unique takes on hamburgers and hot dogs, using things like wagu beef. It did not disappoint! The tap and bottle list must be mentioned as well, as they really have a wide range of selections, both domestic and foreign. I will happily return next chance I get.

Really great selection of beer and an awesome assortment of interesting burgers (homemade peanut butter on a burger? You got it. A burger without a bun? Yup.). Also their pickle assortment was really phenomenal -- never would have thought of pickled rhubarb, but was it a good idea on their part! Staff was very friendly and helpful, and they have a comfortable and nice outdoor seating area with a good bit of room and plenty of shade for a nice meal outside.

Easily top ten burger in Chicago, for me. Burger has the right flavors and a good pack, and they will do actual medium rare. Frequently busy and possibly a wait even mid-week, but worth it. Decent beer list. Even some of the more esoteric combinations they come up with are good - slow burn is always a good choice, and their cambozola is always awesome.

I've been coming here for 5 years now and I've never had a bad experience. The burgers are always on point and the cheese curds are amazing. I've visited a lot of burger joints but I have seriously been spoiled by the variety of burgers available here. My only con is that the El Chupacabra burger no longer exists.

This place is almost perfect! Great food, great Beer. But.......the evening that I was there, I witnessed a few toasted patrons that were singing along loudly to some really bad music. Next time I'll just bring my low powered Taser. Great place though!

Great burgers and many varieties! Vast selection of beers, plus unique cocktails. There may be a wait, but the line moves quickly. Service is great; attentive but not obtrusive. I look forward to coming back and trying some of the other burger styles - all 1/2 pound home made. One of the best in Chicago!
