This place is very nice for a friendly sit down at the bar or a upscale dining experience. This is not a dark stuffy place it's bright and wide open. The food is amazing portions are decent. A have a great wine selection and feature very nice cocktails. The wait staff is great and customer service is top notch. Public parking is difficult but they do have valet.

Made a reservation for a Sunday brunch and was very happy with the whole process. We got seated quickly and on time, and our table couldn't have been in a better spot. The ambiance was awesome and service was on point. This place was packed. You won't get in without a reservation, so don't even try it. The food was perfect and they have a small bakery up front that you can purchase fresh baked goods to take home. Love everything about this restaurant.

The pic says a whole lot. Its beautful imaide and out. Staff is there ready and able with answers to any queation you have in reference to there food choices and then there is the to go counter with cookies and cakes that will satisfy anyone. Quality is there 100%. It is open with loads of natual ligjt and a glass ceiling that opens when the Chicago weather permits. If you go once you will be going again.

I liked the people, really enjoyed the vibe but everything I got had a heavy hand of salt so I really couldn’t enjoy it and the lobster I got in my pasta dish was so rubbery and chewing i couldn't taste the lobster. Overall I would give it 3 star reasoning being the lobster was not good at all and the heavy hand in salt. Maybe better luck next time.

In the 6 months since moving to Chicago, I have not had a better breakfast experience. The food is top shelf, the service is amazing, cocktails go down way too easy, and the espresso coffee is silky smooth. The setup of the venue is very impressive, with a vibrant + hip atmosphere to match. Highly recommended.

Been here a handful of times, and I don’t know if it’s just the days I end up going or what. The service usually ends up being a bit slower than other places I’ve gone. This past visit though was by far the worst it took almost ten minutes for someone to greet our table, took longer to get drinks since I think the server forgot, and the chef brought out our food that took even longer -almost half hour for brunch items. I’d like to give this place another chance, but after this past visit I think I’ll just stick to bar service only here.

We made reservations for a late brunch on a Sunday. The place was packed, but our table was ready within minutes. A breath of fresh air with the bright ambience despite the lingering cold winter days. Selecting a cocktail was a challenge with so many good options. Our server was a great help in deciding on a Rose and a mixed drink (can remember the name) but they were wonderful. We split the veggie and turkey burger both with a side of their delicious shoestring french fries. Our server overheard us toasting our friend for her birthday and surprised her at the end with a small dessert with a candle. She was thrilled. From food to service our experience exceeded our expectations. Can't wait to go back!

Nice natural light and patio. It's a nice ambiance for a casual brunch. Food is presented well, but it lacks California quality produce which greatly diminishes the flavors. Good place for young families in the neighborhood, college students and recent grads. Otherwise, it's definitely a Midwestern take on California cuisine and lifestyle.

We had a very good dinner here with a very good waiter. We both thought he was attentive in advise and making sure we had water and wine with our meal. My partner had a chicken breast that he very much enjoyed while I had the scallops that were very tender over a "just right" sauce. We finished up the meal with an ice cream sandwich made with their cookies and vanilla ice cream. I had a berry sorbet that was the best I've ever had! REALLY GOOD!

I've been here for both brunch and dinner and I'd say I definitely prefer the food during the dinner hour. This place does get busy so do put in a reservation ahead of time. They are also Lettuce Entertain You affiliated so have to cards ready to rack up or redeem rewards. 'Til next time!

I've been here many times, but have never had as great of service as last night! Levi was amazing!! Friendly from the start and made the whole experience beyond 5 star! Food is always fresh. My friend and I were splitting some items and chatting. Two thoughts come to mind: 1. We NEVER felt rushed. We don't get together often and when we do we like to sit and chat for a while. He didn't make us feel like we had to be in and out and we were taking up his space. 2. He split the items for us instead of bringing the items with small plates. While this may seem like a minor detail, this was the first time anyone has ever been considerate enough to split the items when plating them versus bringing them to the table for us to split. He gets 5 stars for that alone. But he was great- offered up suggestions, was funny, and made for an enjoyable experience. Can't wait to come back and I will ask for him! He definitely deserves a raise- best server!

This is one of my go to lunch places. The ambiance is nice and it's so bright inside. During the summer, the windows are all open and during the winter, you almost feel like you're outside. The food is delicious! A little pricier than I'd like, but it's really good. If you like skinny fries, this is the place to go!

Delicious classic American cuisine in an airy, open setting. I ordered the seared ahi tuna sandwich at the waitress' recommendation - very tasty, though I thought there was a bit too much pickled ginger. I much preferred the crispy chicken sandwich which my girlfriend ordered. We finished on the sea salt chocolate chip cookie, which definitely lived up to the hype. Service was also very attentive.

This place has the beach style setup and it's so well done. I feel like some of the photos on line do not do I justice. The half brick chicken was fantastic and the potatoes!!!!! Holy Jesus! You'll think you've died and gone to heaven. GET THE POTATOES! They were packed when we were there so call ahead. Don't forget to grab a monster cookie on the way out! Treat yo self!

The food were good but it wasn't as good as their baked goods. A large selection of cookies! The malted chocolate chip cookie is giant and the best! We had a very long wait despite having reservation the first time there, they gave us a free appetizer with watermelon on it. It was surprisingly very good!! The second time we were sat right away with reservation. Neither time I got to sit under the sunroof though. It was my reason to go there to feel like I'm in a warmer place.

I loved the atmosphere of this place. I felt like I was back at home in California sitting on the beach with some wine and appetizers. I got the rose and a mimosa. My boyfriend got the spiked lemonade, which was dangerous because you can't take the alcohol but it hits you after 2-3 drinks of it. I ordered the avocado toasts with shoestring fries and my boyfriend got the steak with chimichurri sauce and fries. We also started with Ahi Tuna and watermelon tostada. This was absolutely delicious. My avocado toast was amazing. I loved how there was a poached egg on top. The toast was smothered in avocado so the portions are generous. If you check in on yelp you can receive a free dessert. I got the chocolate brownie to go. Service was amazing. Our waiter checked up on us regularly. We parked a block away and street parking is free on Sundays.

Yes yes yes!! Another lettuce entertain you restaurant that just gets it. Healthy, fresh, and great vibe. Even in the dead of winter you feel refreshed going in their for lunch. Love their drink selection (try the rose with strawberry foam). So many healthy salad and veg options - great carmelized Brussels sprouts and emerald kale salad has a nice dressing.

Tasty. And sloppy. The food taste saved the experience - a little. It ts a solid menu (at least what we got), well executed. Delivery is a different story. The lady at the front desk did not greet us. At all. Raised her eyebrows as if asking "whattta ya dong here?". OK, she was clearly having a bad day... One side of the table was sticky dirty and the gentleman seating us had to wipe it. Our waitress puddled water when pouring it in both glasses. Wiped again. The side of bacon was hanging off the plate and ended on the table when delivered. That one we just put aside. Plating continued the theme of sloppy - yes, you can see the idea behind it, but the person doing it really did not care to make it any presentable or neat anymore than what'd probably pass. The atmosphere is beach themed and surprisingly not cheesy. Yet the personnel is plentiful and buzzes around with hurry and confusion. So the style is there, but not atmosphere. And it turned out that when we made a reservation and asked about parking, whoever took the reservation failed to mention that the valet was cash only. When we came to the place is was a "What year is it for cash?" moment. Not coming back.

All I can say is AWESOME! My family and I visited for brunch and everything was great. The environment was beautiful, the vibes were great, and the food was terrific. Had the brussel sprout salad and added grilled salmon. It was fantastic. Extremely fresh and delicious. I also had the Matcha tea "mocktail" and it was super refreshing. They are very kid friendly and on a Thursday afternoon it seemed to be the hot kid's lunch/ brunch time. There were several other tables with children there. And they have a pretty lengthy kids menu. My son ordered the hot dogs and they were pretty plain but he devoured his entire kids meal. And at the end they even gave him a cookie! Service was great and they were attentive to our needs. I will definitely be returning.

I came here for a bridal shower and sat on the side of the Stella Barra. There is a private dining room tucked away in the back and perfect for intimate events. The decor was more rustic and dark (brick walls, beautiful stringed lights, good amount of space for people to mix and mingle around). When I walked in I was so confused as it’s like a bakery stand and I didn’t know to go left (summer house) or right (Stella Barra). The atmosphere definitely made up for the so-so food options we were given (sushi, guac and chips, salad, burrata, and choice of chicken tacos eggs Benedict or burger). I shared with my SIL and was not impressed with either the Benedict or burger. The main dining room was definitely more bright and crowded so I cannot speak for that experience. I looked at menu prices and they’re not outrageous. I may come back to try other menu items as it’s a beautiful restaurant.

Their valet parking only accepts cash and it is $14. Thankfully, CITI bank is located across the street diagonally, I withdrew $20 from the bank and give all of them to the Valet assistant because it was 98 degree outside and they seemed working so hard. But I wish they can accept credit cards like most of valet parking services in downtown. Other than that, the food was great and the restaurant had really good vibes! You guys should try the restaurant! Their food is not too salty and they used very fresh natural ingredients- I can tell!

Stopped by to pick up some cookies to satisfy a late night craving & they delivered. There was no wait, the selection still great (even at 8 pm) & the cookies were fresh. The red velvet was exactly as delicious as they looked. The chocolate chip a safe classic. The chocolate oatmeal least satisfying of the three.

A place can only survive so long on atmosphere alone. Fortunately, for anyone that comes here, the food is just as amazing as the restaurant. Easily one of the best brunch places in all of Chicago that everyone should go to. California inspired cuisine equals a refreshing twist on traditional brunch. YOU NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION. If you come early enough, you can snag a spot at the bar, but I would make reservations about a week out. Wait times quickly jump to 1.5 hrs+. Get the cinnamon roll bread pudding. You won't regret it.

The atmosphere here is unbeatable!! That is really the reason for most of the stars. The food was fresh but really nothing special. Not a lot of options. Went with a group and everyone got some type of egg white omelette. I got pancakes and they were good. Hash browns were not good. I wouldn't come back for the food, but maybe again for the fun brunch atmosphere.

This restaurant was great! Great location, beautiful setting, delicious food, and we were able to hang out at the bar next door while we waited for a table. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. My only disappointment was I ordered a very expensive fish, I think it was the Alaskan trout or something for $50, and I was completely underwhelmed. Other than that, great restaurant!

Went on a Saturday night, walked in and inquired about wait time. Was told 45 minutes, then another 30 minutes, then another 5 minutes after that. We ended up leaving after waiting almost 2 hours. Completely unacceptable as we would’ve gone elsewhere if your staff could have been honest about wait times from the get go. Will not be returning, nor recommending.

Want to try Californian cuisine without going to California, try summer house. The ambiance is fantastic. Great place for groups, couples and just hanging out. The food is delicious. The share plates are good path to go. Definitely have some Rose with dinner. Dessert has it's own counter and lots to choose from. Staff is attentive without being intrusive. I would recommend get reservations ahead of time.

Excellent menus, including a full gluten free brunch/lunch and dinner menu. The staff is attentive, but can sometimes be forgetful about the specialty drinks and ad ons you order. Top to bottom this place shines, and it's worth the visit.

Make reservations well in advance for brunch. When we arrived, the place was PACKED. We waited around 30 min, but we got a complimentary appetizer for the wait. In terms of food, the grilled cheese was AMAZING.the avocado toast was ok. Get dessert!!!!

Great selection of wine and spirits. Cocktails to try include Rico Suave and the carrot juice bourbon. Entrees were delicious. They have a gluten free menu that has some variations on their classic dishes.

I was here for an event and we got a reservation for a room. The decoration was very elegant and cozy however there was a lot of leaking from the ceiling due to rain. Also, while the appetizers served were very delicious but the tacos and rice bowls for main dishes were very plain and not up to standards.

I was there for an event so it was catered. I really cannot speak on the prices. The ahi tuna appetizer was very delicious. I wasn't expecting to like it because it was mixed with watermelon. The staff was pleasant and very accommodating.

Beautiful place elegant design. We're sat in vitamin D room. I love watching the celling here. High and glass celling with natural light. Simple breakfast but excellent quality and prepared. I love breakfast cocktails a lots. Highly recommend for yogurt and gin cocktail. Definitely coming back again.

Great options! Delicious food. I love that you can add fries to anything for a dollar! They have the good thin french fries too- not the thick meely gross fries. Menu is diverse and there is something for everyone. Our server looked like a model from the west coast. Love the look of the servers uniform. On trend and fashion forward. Didn't feel like a chain restaurant. Great spot!

I was sold a 13.00 bottle of wine at 17 dollars a glass... The salmon was well prepared although my lobster cavatapi may as well been box Kraft Mac n cheese... Oooo but the desert counter and the friendly young lady behind it made all the difference in the world

View is wonderful, i like go there. But food is joke. Kinda pricey, but it doesn’t worth. I really don’t recommend about food. Last time I got lobster and prime steak. It was really bad. Maybe should go there only for drinks and views

Went in this evening to grab some cookies and pastries... The front counter girl seemed to be very "put off" by having to wait on us that I almost didnt even get to order. I asked if she was having a bad day because she completely ignored the rest of what we wanted to purchase and turned her back to do something else! I truly hope the pastries are better than your customer service staff as first impressions actually mean something in the service industry!

I've been there twice and have gotten the Hash brown Eggs Benedict both times. YUM. I love the crispness of the hash browns as they get soaked by the egg yolk. I've also tried the gluten-free chocolate chip waffle and again, YUM. I'll have to go back in the summer time so I can sit under the open roof/ceiling.

Delicious drinks and apps in a light relaxed "rosé-all-day" atmosphere. Yes, please! I had the "24 carrot magic" and the "mums the word" cocktails. I totally preferred the mums the word- perfect combination of sweet & tart. While I enjoyed the Ahi Tuna & Watermelon Tostadas, I probably wouldn't get them again. The guacamole & housemade chips I would return for.

Go here for the atmosphere!! It’s a beautiful space and the food is more than decent. The scallops we good but I really enjoyed the pasta - although others said it was too salty. Cocktails are great and wine selection is too. Large selection of rosé. I could have had the calamari as an entreé it was so good.

Beautiful space! Love the openness of the dining area. Our server was so great we want to be friends with her. (Game of Thrones!!) Food was delicious! Avocado toast, granola/yogurt, chicken tostadas, and rosé! Great place for friends, family, everything. Too bad Bingham wasn't there. Next time!

Nice atmosphere. Consistently crowded for dinner, but with the glass roof, the main dining area seemed bright and spacious. Everyone's fish order in our party of 6 was cooked perfectly, (and the kid's grilled cheese was also really good as well). Dessert was probably the best value on the menu as the giant cookies were awesome. The only (minor) negative - the "fish taco" entre warranted a sideways glance because while the fish was cooked well, the dish was really just a full piece of fish with uninspiring reheated tortillas and salsa on the side. Now, maybe I'm a purist, but I've never been served "build-your-own" fish tacos anywhere.
