Great place for barbecue. Sandwiches are delicious, especially the BBQ Brisket Sandwich overflowing with perfectly cooked and flavored meat. Sandwiches are huge, sauces are amazing, and the sides are all very delicious. I ordered a side of mashed sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows. Also ordered corn bread casserole. Both Amazing! This is a sit down restaurant where you order at the front, get your plate and take a seat anywhere in the 2 spacious dining rooms. Assortment of desserts include key lime pie, cookies, cakes, pies and milkshakes. All look very tempting. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for great tasting BBQ and dessert in a nice relaxing environment.

I liked the ribs, best part of my 3 meat combo. Pork was not pulled enough, ended up being one big glob. Brisket was dry. Baked beans were unusual due to the different kind of beans used. I wouldn't get them again. Fries were fine. Inside was clean and there was plenty of room. They have bottled beer and prepared glasses of wine.

We ordered from here on Doordash to our hotel. The food tasted amazing and it was very resaonably priced. We were able to get two sandwiches with 4 sides and then an additional regular side for only $30 including the door dash tip.

The rating depends on what you compare this to. Remember, this is Oak Brook - not exactly known for BBQ. So for Oak Brook, this place is good. But against the legendary establishments in Texas and Oklahoma, it's a solid 3/5. I got some mini-sandwiches to try different meats. Meats and sides were good. Solid, nothing I'd have to come back for, but good nonetheless. The real heroes here are the sauces. I loved trying the different sauces. They definitely had a different flare compared to usual establishments. I'd buy the sauces to take home if that's an option. I did not try a milkshake, but they did look fantastic. The menu is big, so you'll definitely find something you like. Overall, this place may be worth a try. Good BBQ for the area, but if you're expecting Texas/Oklahoma affair, look elsewhere. PS, make sure you try the sauces.

I cannot recommend this bbq place, first they ran out of brisket before 6pm. Secondly the bbq lacks flavor and is sugary lacking the smokey taste one expects. Do yourself a favor and go some where else, you will thank me on the flip side.

After driving by here for over a year during my work trips to this area, I finally decided to stop in and try it out. You go up and order your meats and sides, then check out and find yourself a table. Lots of seating, with various barbecue sauces at your table. You start with the meat guy, who was super nice and walks you through the process if you are a first timer. I ordered the brisket, my friend ordered the ribs. We also could not resist ordering the onion straws. Then on to the side guy -- not as friendly as the meat guy, but whatever... I got the brussel sprouts and mac/cheese sides (they give you pickles with your order)... they put it all on a little tin tray. The brisket was very tasty, melt in your mouth and flavorful. LOVED the brussel sprouts, and the mac/cheese was okay (nothing compares to my homemade recipe which everything is judged against). The meal was hearty and very good... particularly the onion straws dipped in barbecue sauce. My friend loved her ribs and I can't even remember the sides she ordered since I was laser focused on my own food. On my way out, I had to check out the homemade dessert section and bought myself a scrumptious salted caramel pretzel cookie. While I do not consider myself a barbecue expert by any means... I thought this joint was pretty dang delicious!

Pretty good food. I love bbq. The pulled pork was very good, the sweet bbq sauce and the pickles they give are a little spicy, I have a family member who doesn't like spicy. I really liked the bbq sauce. Mac and cheese delicious!! Golden corn bake average, had a canned corn taste. Will definitely be going back, can't wait to try so many more items!

Consistent quality, sauce is good and cuts of meat are just right. I can see the sides through the display case and pick out just what I want. Lots of sweet treats in various sizes to choose for those who want, or shakes. I usually get the brisket nachos or the mini with fries and no bun since I'm avoiding gluten. Buy a mason jar and bring it back for free refills of flavored iced tea. These guys know what they're doing and seem to want to serve all customers well.

I've been a fan since they opened in Highland Park years ago. I've seen the owner at Ribfest in Chicago on several occasions. Super nice guy and great Pitmaster. I always enjoy my visits, surprised I haven't left a review yet. I was actually 2nd in line back on 11/17/14, when they first opened here. I missed free BBQ for a year by that much. First 100 in line did get a free sandwich. Brisket and brussel sprouts, with lots of pickles, is a must. Today the soup of the day was chili. I had hopes it was brisket chili... tasty and I love there's no beans. Cheddar, red onion and bacon is a nice topper. Mac n cheese is typically not to warm, which is fine as I like leftovers. The cornbread casserole is killer. Save room for dessert and buy a mason jar for lifelong refills. Watermelon tea pairs nicely with Q. Bummer that the patio never has been built. West dining room can get too sunny, so bring your shades and imagine your outside.

I usually judge a BBQ place on the quality if the brisket and this place is not up to par. Brisket was dry and tough, which amazes me because the cut is so fatty. They really have no idea what they are doing with the brisket . The ribs were half way decent, but they didn't throw them in the grill long enough while adding the sauce and spices to heat them up nicely. Giving 2 stars because this placed was priced as competition BBQ.

Cue for your taste buds ... they say the burnt ends are notorious .... ends were good no great. 'Smoked wings are a "don't pass up" in my book. Sides are varied, dirty rice was a winner. Nice space.... baby backs for the ribs, prefer spares.

My husband and I went there for lunch today. As always everything is so good and makes it hard to decide what to order. I love that they put the different kinds of barbecue sauce on the table as I love to have barbecue sauce all over my fingers and dripping on my meat. The french fries are done fresh and I'm crazy about baked beans and theirs is the best. Can't go wrong eating here and I'm from the south I know good barbecue.

The food here has always been fantastic (been coming here since shortly after it opened), but I am writing this review because of their customer service. Tonight my wife and I went with our 5 month old daughter (first time since our baby was born). While we were ordering I asked if they had highchairs. The owner or manager said they did and then had a wonderful young lady grab our trays for us and get us a highchair. With an infant people tend to be nice, but we never expected the staff to go out of their way like that.

This is not BBQ what so ever. This is like dry pot roast and I would turn away from this place on a side note(no pun intended) the sides are decent but the meat and sauce or not even close to being BBQ. Just some place stating that it is. There is a better place to go down the road in Wheaton in the Danada square mall area.

Dried out meats. Period. Really wanted to like this place and what a let down. The chef was courteous and helpful with the menu, unfortunately their food was lacking in freshness. Ordered a 3 meats special and all of them were stale/dried out. Went in there pretty early about 11am, thought food would be fresh, instead it seems I got the leftovers from the night before.

Love this place! My husband and I always order a 2-3 meat platter and we get 2 sides which is perfect to share. We haven't had anything we didn't like but we love the sausage and burnt ends. Spicy pickles are a must and there's several gluten free and veggie options. Shakes and dessert are also excellent!

This barbecue restaurant is hands-down the best they have a wonderful beef brisket and burnt ends their pulled chicken is wonderful very juicy their pulled pork is great their turkey is wonderful all very juicy and tender wonderful barbecue sauce a very large selection of sides to choose from the two Meat and three meat combo or well worth it you get a lot of meat a lot of food their beverages are homemade as well their lemonade and iced tea are wonderful they have a very large desert section all homemade wonderful apple pie best Snickers cheesecake I have ever had this place has great service as well definitely service with a smile and they will go the extra mile to make sure you smile this is hands-down the best barbecue restaurant in Oakbrook so glad I found it

Most of the food is ready immediately but i ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which i wastold would take ten minutes to make. The chicken was warm but bland tasting I didn't opt to get any sides but just seems like mediocre type food. The macaroni and cheese looked like it had been sitting out for awhile. Not a bad experience at all but definitely not the best food i have had.

Had the brisket sandwich and a side of creamed spinach. The brisket was fresh, sliced right in front of me, had a good taste. The creamed spinach was good no complaints. The bun however was a bit dry, should have just ate the meat. The sauces were good, no complaints. The place reminds me of when I lived in Texas kind of, maybe like Rudy's BBQ a bit. A little pricey for bbq but hey your in Oak Brook Illinois.

Decent prices, decent service. There is a lot of seating available and there is plenty of parking. Good for groups. Located off of Clearwater Dr. in Oak Brook. Not entirely impressed but I’m probably a bit biased because this style of food is not my favorite. Make sure you try the cheddar hush puppies.

Been to other locations (Highland Park and Skokie), one which has since closed (Skokie) and everything was good overall. Stopped in this location two days ago and while everything looked good, sides were excellent, the ribs were terrible. Not very tender and they were dry. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. Not only because we spent $65, we were looking forward to some good ribs. The "Perfection" ribs are what we prefer. Those have dry rub and sauce on them and are usually pretty good, definitely our favorite. It's debatable whether we'd try this location again.

Real Urban is a must visit spot to grab a quick bite of slow cooked comfort food. It’s an order, pay and have a seat kinda place, which is great when you stomach is growling or the kids are restless. Real Urban Barbecue is family friendly and the atmosphere is just right for a no fuss lunch or dinner. I ordered the chicken sandwich, Mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole. I recommend all three! Dress up the chicken sandwich with the barbecue sauces available on the table or enjoy it plain, either way it’s fresh made (about a 10 min wait but well worth it) and delicious. The Brussels sprouts with bacon are also a must order menu item. You really can’t go wrong here! Stop in and enjoy for yourself- you won’t be disappointed!

This was our first time. Overall we were disappointed. We ordered the 2-meat and the 3-meat entrees, which was nearly $50. All of the meats were cool to room temperature and seemed as if they had been sitting out for awhile. The burnt ends were really just chunks of brisket, not true burnt ends. The sauces were mediocre. Sides were ok and, fortunately, a bit warmer than the meat. Nothing we ate warranted the $50 price tag or a return visit.

This is the second location I have been to; both are equally great! A variety of meats, sizes, and sides. I have mild food allergies and unfortunately there's something in the corn bread as well as the sweet potatoes I cannot have, which is a shame because their sides are excellent! Still found stuff I like so not a huge problem. They also have a variety of bottled sodas which is fun to choose from. If you like bbq meat, I recommend this place!

I think this might be my favorite BBQ brisket in the Chicago area. I love the brisket and the burnt ends. Plenty of sides to choose from. Nice sized portions on the two meat combo plates. A handful of sauces to choose from. So far I've only tried the sweet sauce with the brisket. Very tasty. Looking forward to trying the others.Good traditional sweet tea.

I'm so glad I tried this place. I wouldn't have thought "urban" would be a good adjective to go with barbecue, but they proved me wrong. I'm a huge fan of their burnt ends and smoked sausage. You can choose sweet or spicy sauce, when they plate your meat at the counter, but they also have mustard-based and a thinner, cider/vinegar-based sauce in bottles at the tables. The spicy sauce isn't super spicy. It's enough to taste some heat, but it doesn't build as you keep eating. Each of the sauces really enhances the meat. Their sides are great, too. I can eat their sweet potatoes and cornbread as desserts. They do Brussels sprouts 3 different ways on different days and each version is tender and flavorful and accounts for one of my 2 sides every time. If you like barbecue, you have to try this place.

Worse BBq meal ever. Ribs dried out. I've have Burnt ends before and these were not Burnt ends but just hunks of meat if you want to call it meat that you could not eat at all. The french fries were cooked while we waited so they were at least hot. The only part of the meal that was edible. AWFUL!!

Nothing is smoked! How disappointing! Dry brisket, turkey was ok but NO SMOKE!! Liked the chew off the bone ribs but again NO SMOKE, no smoke rings, no smoked taste, The hoe cake was awful, BBQ beans NOT SMOKED as promised, gooey (not in a good way) mac n cheese, potato salad mostly mayo, no dill. Urban BBQ should change their advertising claiming hours smoked when this food has never seen a match.

Meat is pretty good. Both my wife and I had pulled pork sandwiches. Pork was slightly tough and in very large pieces, but had pretty good flavor. The sides, on the other hand, are amazing. Brussels sprouts, beans, potato salad, corn bake were all cleaned up with ease. Also a great value for the amount of food you receive.

Barbecue is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. I loved the sausage sandwich and the brisket was 8/10 which is pretty darn good for the Chicago area. However, the 'Peanut Butter Triple Double' milkshake was just divine. So glad I randomly stumbled across this place as it is definitely some of the most authentic and best tasting BBQ I've yet had in the Chicago area. Oh yeah, the spicy BBQ sauce was darn near PERFECT and definitely the best sauce I've had since I moved up here. Thanks!

The two meat combo i ordered for cary out was a complete ripoff. a coulpe burnt ends ans a sausage sliced. Overpriced.

Price is high for what you get. Had burnt ends, Mac&cheese and Brussels sprouts. Burnt ends were tough and fatty, lacking smoke flavor and the bark that makes burnt ends so desirable. Texture was more like poorly cooked pot roast rather than brisket. Mac and cheese was bland and noodles were mushy. Brussels sprouts were decent. Cooked well enough and plenty of bacon. Wouldn't go back; other better options.

Great food! Went here twice already within 3 weeks. Came here first during lunch and it was quick, delicious, and busy!!!! Then dinner time, still busy but Great! Tried different things both times. First time tried the brisket sandwich and my fiance got the pulled pork. But really good. Then tonight we went with the kids. This time we tried the bbq wings and the ribs. Delish! Seriously love the sweet potato souffle!!! Give this place a shot. In the mood for BBQ, you got to come here.

They have excellent prices and the food is barbecued to perfection. They loaded the pork into the smoker for the next day's lunch at 7:30pm while we watched.

Not very good BBQ! I ordered a simple pulled pork sandwich and the server pulled the pile of pork out of a drawer and slapped it on the cutting board and gave it a quick chop with a knife and slapped it on a bun. Pork was drenched in grease and extremely fatty. I asked for sauce on it and he poured on so much sauce that I couldn't tell if there was any meat on it. Bun was then so soggy it was hard to even eat. My expectations were low to start with being from KC but they succeeded in going lower. If you think this place has good BBQ then you need get out to some cities known for BBQ around country and taste the difference.

Place was very nice and clean. I had the brisket and it was very dry. The side I had was coleslaw and it was way too creamy. It was also on the pricey side so I definitely will not be coming back.

The Southern salad with burnt ends on it was FABULOUS! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great option to enjoy the burnt ends with a cool and crisp salad.
