Good food, tasty. The large variety dish can feed 2-plus. Something different from the normal latin restaurants. Clean and friendly. Big plus, owner is the chef...

Tried the pupusas at this new restaurant in portage park and loved them! The place is clean, comfortable, and has a cozy atmosphere. Authentic Salvadorian taste. The pastelitos, not a pastry but a delicious pork and veggies filled corn puff was truly outstanding. The complementary coffee cake called quesadilla that the kind waiter Imelda shared was very good too. Not bad for the new kid on the block among the portage park restaurant scene. We will be back again.

Traditional authentic food from Salvador. Fresh food good service. Last time I tried the corn tamales and popusas I like it. The sauces very good. Me gustaron los tamales de elote muy buenos y tmbien las popusas.

Waited over 2 hours for our food! Then waiter came out to tell his they messed up our order and would need to wait another 30 minutes!!!!! They didn't apologize and still wanted to charge us for our drinks! Would not recommend

S Vanezza Rodriguez

The only bad thing about this place is trying to call for a pickup order, and they would not answer after 4-5 calls, or answer at all. Id eat there but I dont recommend trying to call for a pick up order.

First time here, food was good and place was clean. Servers attitude was nice, but felt like service overall was kinda slow, took about 35 minutes to finally get our food. I suppose because it's made fresh so I won't complain much about it. Soup was delicious, nuegados were good, pupusas weren't what I expected (had better elsewhere). Will definitely give it another try and perhaps I'll up my review to 5 stars and edit. Or less

Jocelyn Tinoco

It was ok, my husband and I went in the morning and the pupusas were soooo delicious, we went back in the afternoon with my mother in law and they tastes gross, my husband is Salvadoran and he said he was disappointed

All of the food was cooked authentically by the Salvadoran owner and was delicious. I advise the following if you don't know where to start. To drink, kola champagne. It is a bright orange soda with a unique taste. To eat, pupusas and tamales de elote. Drinks are a bit on the pricy side, but the food is a steal.

Pupusas are the bomb! Similar to gorditas, but thinner and a unique Salvadorian flavor

We stopped by the other day and it was completely crowded and we had to wait over 2 hours for our food. Not to mention, the pupusas were dry, no sauce served with them. Then it took an additional 30 minutes for them to bring our credit cards back. Would NOT recommend and will NOT be back. If you want to wait forever for your food, then be my guest.

David Jara

Great food at reasonable pricing.

Deliciosas pupusas,pan con chumpe

Michael Nicolalde

Too expensive and the food is not what I expected. There is a better Salvadoran restaurant on Central and Belmont that is way cheaper and their portions are reasonable.

Elysia Aufmuth

I almost don't want to write this review for fear it will get too busy. But this place is wonderful! Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful explaining ingredients we didn't know. The restaurant was casual and comfortable. And the food is amazing. Get the sopa de gallina for a comforting hen soup with tasty vegetables. It's flavorful and light but very satisfying. We tried many of the pupusas and they were tasty but not greasy. For a variety of food, try the platos. My daughter loved the fruit smoothie and the beans and rice. She even loved a pupusa which was a new food to her. Parking is easy and free on the street. This is a warm, welcoming restaurant that is tasty in your tummy but light on your wallet.

There chicken pupusas were delicious. I wish i would have tried the shrimp one's too.

Pete Carles

The pupusas were nicely made. They had a lot of different varieties of pupusas to choose from compared to other places. The sad part is that was about the only thing that was bright about this place. The only other bright part was the atole drink. It was flavorful but we ordered 2 and 1 came hot when the other was like warm and colder when stirred. The Yuca con chicarron was fried in probably old oil which gave it a dark brown coloring also the yuca wasn't cooked long enough and it had some raw parts to it. It was also not fresh since it was raw yet over dry after it was cooked. The pork was flavorful but over cooked and dry. The plato loco has 2 kinds of tamales which the masa wasn't well blended since you can see and taste the inconsistency from smooth to clumpy. The pastelito and ticucos were fried and in the same old oil as the yuca and pork and had the dark brown oily look to them. The fillings were the same in both just different outer shell. I would go back for the pupusas and atole. Also I would like to try the soups. I saw another couple there with a soup and it did look very appetizing.

Very good and clean pupuseria. I like the Pupusas, although they NEED to make Pupusas de arroz in order to call themselves a Salvadorian Restaurant. Overall very clean and good services!

1st time at Salvadoranian spot. Food was good had the appetizer of fried plantain that comes with a side of refried beans and Salvador style sour cream. I highly recommend this. It was simple but really good. Main dish I had pupusas of cheese and beans and then pupusa of carne asada. The problem with this was that it wasnt carne asada but it was steamed ground beef with bell peppers. I didn't like that the carne asada was not carne asada and that it had bell peppers because I specifically asked the server. It was okay but not what I ordered.

Delicious pupusas!!

Jose Guerrero

Hidden gem in Portage Park / Dunning. Tried pupusas, enchilada on a tostada, and corn soup; all were outstanding. For the first visit, being non-Spanish speakers, it took a bit to understand the menu items, but we figured it out and were glad we did.

Good selection. Food was overall great and well priced. The place is nice and cozy. Service was very slow however often expected with Salvadorean food as it's not fast food... The server seemed a little overwhelmed therefore not a great experience in service (I believe their energy reflect back on worth a wait or not) but won't stop me from returning and enjoying their food.

I stopped here because it always looks busy. It was my first time eating Pupusas. It is a walk up or dive through operation. They offered no English version of the menu. One of the cooks spoke limited English. Typical patrons are from Latin America. The food was tasty. My wife would not have wanted to stop due to the language barrier. I am glad I stopped.
