They charge us 20$ To get in because they were doing it for that night but when i went to smoke a cigarette I saw like 30 people getting in without paying any cover to get in and when I asked the sever why we got charged and she couldn’t make any sense of it. They have people outside that just want to hustle everyone they feel like to. Btw I just went to eat.

After much anticipation, I went all in on a cake shake. It was worth the wait, but I would recommend coming in hungry first. On the topic of hunger, I customized the Mac and Cheese thinking it would be safe, fast, and enough to push me into dessert. To my surprise the Mac and Cheese was awesome! I didn't think I would walk out leaving as satisfied as I did. However, here I am writing a review about Mac and Cheese. Oh, and the cake shake was good too. On the negative side: Be ready for a wait. This place appears to be packed at all times. Once you get through the door, you find yourself waiting awhile for attention. This is understandable once you see how busy it gets inside. I only mention it for those who are not as patient.

From the moment I walked in I knew I made a poor choice. Sat down at the bar, it stunk to high heaven, really needs a deep cleaning and that combined by a very limited happy hour menu food, we ended up leaving without ordering anything. Really very disappointing.

Only giving this a three star due to the extremely rude security staff/bouncers. It feels like they don't want you at the restaurant/bar. We definitely wouldn't of stayed long due to the bouncers however they have tons of delicious beer options! Once we got to the bar, everyone was very nice especially the blonde bartender who made our experience awesome!

Great vibe and awesome location for "pre-gaming" a House of Blues show. Our server had a good knowledge of the beers available, like when I asked for a coffee-beer she said she didn't believe they had one (but checked) and recommended the Moody Tongue chocolate porter. She also asked, first thing, if we wanted water and if tap was okay, which is great service, but then no one ever brought the water. The drinks and appetizers were all very good and as expected, though, and even though they had good music playing pretty loudly, I could talk to my fellow-diner easily. Selection is extensive, and although I sat inside this time, on a nicer evening I would opt for an outdoor spot I think.

Great service, delicious drinks. The mac and cheese with pulled pork was AMAZING. Carnitas were good, but a little too onion heavy for me. Pretzel was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. We felt the cheddar beer fondue dip for the pretzels was too watery.

Good place! I would return. However, keep an eye on your belongings. I saw one employee going through my coat's pockets to later find out my sun glasses were missing. He was then handing out coats as "helping" people move out. Disappointing to have thieves working at this place

Good people watching. This place is full even on Mondays. It has some good gluten free options and service is friendly and prompt. Lots of good places to sit whether to have a conversation or watch the game. A place to rely on to be fun even on a cold Monday evening.

The food and environment was great. The service was terrible. When I ordered my dinner, I asked for original (instead of Buffalo style) and she confirmed with "Buffalo?", which cost more. I reconfirmed original. When we received our bill we saw that we were charged $9 per beer instead of the listed price in the menu, $7. When we told the server about not knowing about cost for a tall beer, she replied in a VERY SNARKY manner, "I'm telling you now". This was the moment I realized she was probably trying to run up our bill as high as possible, citing the original vs buffalo style moment, when she "misheard" me for Buffalo style instead of original, and charging us for tall beers, when we did not even know that it was an option, as it was not listed in the menu. It is not the additional cost that upset me. What bothers me is not being FULLY informed of what I am ordering. I did not know about the tall beer option, nor did I want one. I was expecting to be billed $7 for each beer, as what the menu states, but was slapped with $9 per beer and finding out when we see the bill. This server can go into the field of extortion if serving tables no longer works for her. Way to ruin what was otherwise a good and fun evening.

Pretty cool spot to have a drink and bite to eat while watching the game. When I was there on a Tuesday night it was pretty lively. I'm assuming because of the game which was playing on the TV screens. Drinks were moderately priced as well as the food. The service was decent and the staff were polite. Bartender, atmosphere were good. We chose this place because their website and Google maps list closing time @ 2AM and we didn't head there until 1am. Last call was around 1:30. We got drinks for last call and security stopped by to say 3 minutes, drink up. Second security guard says head for doors @1:39. I asked "don't you closed at 2" and his response was "we already gave you 10 extra minutes, we are closed". You shouldn't call last call at 1:30 and sell me 2 drinks when I still had half of one left and then tell me you are closing in 3 minutes when you advertise closing at 2. I should have asked for a refund. I'm not one to waste the money I just spent. Will never go back.

The fish was excellently fried and the tacos were pretty tasty too. The only reason I’m taking a star is that I’m a little disappointed that half the beers weren’t accessible due to an issue with the tap. I wouldn’t be so harsh, but beer is half it’s appeal.

My coworkers and I went to Public House for happy hour after our conferences. Many beer options on the menu. They even had free tastes. One of my coworkers got the parmesan fries and the Buffalo cauliflower and both were good. Definitely a great place to chill and hang out!

I'm so glad I chose this place for my Mother's Day dinner spot! Decor is modern and the food choices were good. We tried a little of everything from Smoked and Buffalo wings, cheese curds, parmesan fries, fried pickles, mac n cheese, to Chicken Cesar salad! I liked the menu choices were finger/snack-like foods that have you the options to try a lot of things. Honestly, the picture of the dessert is what made me choose to spend the evening here, they looked pretty and delicious! And they were even better in person!! We will definitely come back for another visit.

Food was great and they made a delicious Old Fashioned. The mac and cheese was asmazing, and the brisket was pretty good as well. Service was excellent despite how busy it was. Only complaint was they gave us a 10:15PM reservation and as soon as we arrived informed us that the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. This probably should have been discussed when the reservation was made, but our waiter was quick to make sure we were taken care of despite the miscommunication.

We stopped by the Public House after seeing it on TV. I had the Smoked Pulled Chicken Mac & Cheese, my wife had the Smoked turkey sandwich with sweet potato tots. For dessert I had the vanilla stout cake shake! My only complaint was there was a bone or two in the pulled chicken. The shake was excellent!

I was here during st Patrick's (I know, bad day to go) but still, they took advantage of people. Charging cash-only cover charges is shady enough but cranking up prices on beer to $12 a pint.... Well drinks were cheaper. Great for their business, terrible for everyone that wanted to drink a simple green beer

Place had a nice vibe, food was decent. Bar was pretty good - had a good variety (limited IPA's though) and the bartenders (at least upstairs) were a bit off. Took quite a while to get a drink and considering it was a private party thought that was weird. But they were friendly enough which made up for their slowness. Would recommend a stop here if you're in Chicago.

Said there were complaints about a guy with a striped shirt but when asked what my friend did, they had no response. Terrible place who are just looking to make an extra buck

We've came here the past 7 years for St. Paddy's day. We get here today, stand in line and told that were not allowed in due to an altercation that happened in line. We literally stood in line to get in, no altercations. I'll never spend another dime at this place. Absolute trash!

I only ever have great experiences here! The staff are excellent and the venue is literally perfect. It is very loud until about an hour before closing, so if that's not your thing, wait it out. You MUST try the fries! Their homemade dipping sauces are literally the best ever made!

Went really early on a Saturday and the crowd was light, I think if we hadn't had a reservation it still would have been a small wait time. However, it definitely filled up as we ate so I would recommend the earliest time to walk in or get yourself an OpenTable acct and make a reservation for later. I had the seasonal shake (Mint for March) and the seasonal pancakes (Matcha Mint for March). The shake was as expected - overly satisfying to look at and relatively tasty. The shake itself was pretty good, I didn't get to have it with the booze as I forgot my license, but the decorations i.e. cake on top, lucky charms cereal - left a little to be desired. The cake was kind of dry and the cereal stale. But definitely the look overall was very Instagram and awesome to have brought to you at the table. The pancakes were also delicious - didn't taste much mint or matcha - but were good old fluffy pancakes all the same. My partner got the burrito and I had a bite of that and it was pretty flavorful and full of stuff. I think we'd go back again as the taste experience overall was good. I would say a major con would be their menu, I felt like there were almost too many different food options and it was a little busy to look at all at once. I think this might be for the bigger groups of people and my personal preference of simplicity.

My friend and I came specifically for their famous cake and shake! Overall both were delicious, although the cake was a little bit dry. This dessert is definitely a good one to share as the combination is a lot. The shake was a vanilla shake (which had cake bits blended in, and reminded me of portillos chocolate cake shake in terms of consistency) and the cake a confetti cake. They had a chocolate shake and chocolate cake combo option as well, although you can't mix and match the cakes and shakes.

I went last night with my husband and some friends. The place was too crowded at times, and music was loud when we arrived, and it got louder later. It was good music though! Our server was great, beer was great, food was average. There are very few options for a vegetarian so I asked for mac-n- cheese with roasted jalapenos. It was average. So, if you ask me I would say, yes it is a nice place if you are having fun, go here, have some beer, and go somewhere else for your food. Food was kind of expensive for what they serve. I don't think I will be back, unless my friends want to go there again.

This place is packed busy and is a good sports bar to go to in River North. Lots of TVs and seating some booths with beer on tap at your table so good fun for party crowd which definitely skews younger. The food is pretty good and they have lots of gluten friendly choices. Avoid the flatbreads - they are overloaded with cheese and soggy - inedible. I have had some good salads - try the chopped -and I love the mussel bowls! My son likes the Mac and Cheese varieties.

I went there for dinner on a Friday night. It was very packed, but the service was efficient and kind. I would definitely recommend having a reservation, because I'm sure you'd have to wait if you didn't have one. The tacos were excellent, and my friend had the grilled cheese and she said it was great. Overall, good price for good service and a fun atmosphere.

Please do not support this establishment. I have never been so disrespected by staff members in my life. I had colleagues in town from Mexico, and they were turned down admittance by the staff upon showing their passport. They said it was due to dress code, however they were all in proper attire on a Wednesday night when it was empty. We came directly from work. The bouncer reiterated ‘We can reject service to whoever we please’. And that was it.

Awesome spot. Went on a Monday night, and boy was it packed once 10pm hit. Decent food and great beer selection. The bar is definitely where it’s at. Always pass by Chicago and never stay much so glad I got to finally visit a cool spot. Also parking is limited on the street so if you find a spot or parking garage, take it.

The servers were nice and served very quickly..just the food portions are so small. I can't drink the big drinks and eat a snack-sized serving of mac-n-cheese. The food was good though, I must say. The cake-shake was surprisingly, per yelp reviews, not dry like they all said. BUT they do have a photo booth near the bathrooms and it's always nice to shove as many friends as possible in there and take a quick photo.

Trendy, vibrating place. Cool atmosphere. I liked it very much! The four star because of the food. The food what we get was very good, I loved the fried pickles. The problem was that I wanted to eat meat, but there was no more. Then I asked for pork and there was no more. So, that is the only reason of the four star. Otherwise I would give five.

A very welcoming and fun place. I went there in search of the "beershake" and found that not only was that excellent, but they also had a nice bar menu. My bartender was fine and did a good job with my old fashioned. Public house is not a high end spot but definitely a place to go to have a good time with friends or family. They have a nice beer list and plenty of interesting drinks. They have a rotating beer shake special every month that I'm told is always excellent. Overall a good time to be had.

Part of the problem with places like Public House is that they're located in River North, so they take on the meat market vibe that this neighborhood oozes. I went here on a Sunday during a Bears game and the crowd was lively, but an in-house DJ and loud music during commercial breaks seemed like a bit too much. Bartenders were about as attentive as they could be given how busy the place was. Beer selection was fine, but the wings I ordered were a little overcooked. Not terrible, just not great. I'm sure the mood here is a little toned down during weekdays or lunch hours. Good news is, if you're staying at the Kinzie Hotel next door, you get 20% off your bill.

I've been here twice. I'll be honest, the beer has an ok selection and there are multiple bars to sit at. That's the end of the compliments. I was told by my bar tender they are known for their wings and sliders. I assume at this point it meant because if how bad they are. I asked if they were frozen and the bar tender affirmed they were not... Then walked to the manager who glanced over, shamefully shook his head yeah they are. All of the food options, from what I can tell, can be going in the frozen food section at your local grocery store. I haven't found anything made fresh in house and that's a major disappointment. Maybe people come here to eat?? Who knows. I feel a bar should at least be able to fry something in house. TL;DR - come here for a drink and nothing else. The food is all freezer burnt/stale/tasteless.

Hostess said I was 2nd in line for a table for 5. Offered a booth, but with the stipulation we had to deal done by a certain time due to a reservation. I said I would wait because we didn't want to be rushed. After 1 hour and 45 minutes a table was ready. 2nd in line? BS. Fortunately we found room at the bar and ate there. Food was very good, and bartender was excellent.

Not my favorite place...had the chicken nachos and some drinks. We though the chicken was dry...waitress said they were smoked and we did not realize that that was a good thing...I assured her that I can tell smoked chicken from shoe leather...we were then ignored until the check. A bright spot...one of the other staff asked us if we needed anything and brought us some hot peppers...we asked the waitress 2 x's for them and never got any from her. I hate writing a bad review but this place deserved one

It's fine for the area, which is very touristy and therefore overpriced generically American fare. Service leaves something to be desired, but that's also typical for the area. Not a bad choice, just not a great one considering this city has so many better neighborhood spots outside of the loop and River North worthy of exploration

Went here for dinner and drinks for a friend's bachelorette party and had an amazing time. The red and white sangria pitchers were both amazing and definitely worth the cost to split amongst a large group. The grilled cheese + fries tasted great and came in huge, shareable portions.

I went to Public House on a Tuesday night and the place was packed! It seemed to have a good night life with a good selection of tap beer, specialty drinks, and a late night menu. It is loud if that isnt your thing but the atmosphere was sports bar fun if you do

Good drinks, good food, always good games on TV! Some patrons are overly obnoxious and loud, however, that is to be expected. One small note, fix the "bleeding image" TVs in the mini bar area. The TVs have bleeding color issues and need fo be replaced

Good food. But very expensive. $70 for 2 drinks and 2 chicken sandwiches. This is bar food guys.

I got the Mac and cheese with pulled chicken. It was truly excellent! It was a decent sized portion as well. My friend got just he Mac and cheese and she couldn’t finish hers. The wait staff was also incredibly attentive. I think some people may find that level of attentiveness annoying, but I thought it was amusing. They filled up my glass of water when there was barely more room for water. Truly you will want for nothing in this place.
