REVIEWS OF Parachute IN Illinois

My wife and I have visited Parachute several times since they opened. This is a must visit for anyone in the Chicago area. The menu is consistently creative and inspired (it changes on a weekly basis). Service is best in class. Nice wine and beer list, and excellent original cocktails. We love Parachute!

I love eating the black beetle juice.the crab cuisine was delightful, and although there are some problems,i enjoyed going here.dog legs

Yiming Lin

Light Asian fare, fantastic cocktail program - you can go off the cuff on drinks by giving preferred profiles.

Christina Horbinski

They describe themselves as Korean-American cuisine, but there is also a definite French influence to the menu. The menu is very creative and eclectic. I highly recommend the "off the cuff" chef's selection. With this, you get a sampling of many items on the menu, as well a couple that the chef is trying out. We enjoyed all but one item, a custard dish that was most likely well prepared, but just not our taste. The attentive wait staff asked after each dish what we liked & didn't like. When we mentioned that the custard didn't appeal to us, they asked us to pick any other item on the menu to replace it! By ordering this chef's sampler, we were able to try just-right portions of many unusual dishes that we would have been hesitant to order full portions of. Squid ink sauce? Never would have ordered it on my own, but pleasantly surprised to find it tasty when it was included in the "off the cuff" offerings. They also have a wine list featuring not run-of-the-mill grapes, and a good selection of cocktails. The wait staff was friendly, and extremely helpful at helping us sort through the unusual varieties of both food and drink.

Really good food. More American than Korean but still tasty. Wait service is team oriented. Would visit again.

Irina Nastic

Went there for my husband’s birthday with another couple - the food was exceptional.Definetly worth the hype.

Ellen Li

Amazing service and the food is wonderful. We had the "off the cuff" tasting menu with beverage paring. Would recommend that to everyone! One of our favourite restaurants in Chicago.

Marianna Palma

Superb food, will take 20 min car drive from downtown but was worth it! Yuyacha lemonade is a hit!

mark esposito

Amazing spot, staff is very nice. Food is outstanding! Wine list is fantastic

Kathy Cook

Such a fabulous meal. Our server, Clare was superb! She was as wonderful as the meal.

Phillip Edens

Great meal and great service. My wife is pregnant and they were super accommodating - highlighting menu items that would be good to go for her and double checking as we ordered.

Chris de Monclin

Great food, very different tastes than traditional American or even ethnic restaurants. Small portions, but really tasty. Good service. Location is not great, quite far from the city center. The restaurant could be roomier. Very good experience.

Si-Ray Zhan

The off the cuff menu dining experience was amazing. Came her for anniversary and service was great, atmosphere was fun, and food was delicious. Definitely would come again.

Justin Snider

Fantastic combination of amazing food and great service. The bread ranks up with the best I've ever had and the pancake is easily the best savory pancake I've ever had. Definitely recommend the pavlova dessert and pairing.

Laura Schoepfle

Pretty good food, and great drinks. A little over priced

Hector Tico Calzada

incredible menu...ask waiters for recommendations. Unique wine list worth exploring. Limited menu provides opportunity for perfection....shareable plates for great experience.

Jeff Grossman

okay, i was excited to try this place, and really wanted to like it, but my experience was just poor for starters, i made a reservation 45+ days out only to be seated at a community table the oysters were A++, so for that i gave them a 2nd star the shrimp i had to peel myself and it was almost like eating them raw the fried/breaded pork is maybe an acquired taste, but good food normally tastes good, server was very kind but didn’t even ask about us not finishing more than half the dish Parachute is expensive and there is a lot of great food in Chicago I would recommend you try someplace else

Sheen Chiu

The food was amazing. The menu changes every so often, but be sure to try that being bread.

Adam Grandt

Interesting food with sometimes jarring flavor combinations served in a chaotic atmosphere. Avoid the beefstew, it was stringy and chewy. The bing bread and fish dishes were the best things three.

Pat Diaz

It was recommended to us by a few foodie friends. Don't be discouraged by a location, once you get inside you would love it. Great food, drinks and impeccable service, only minus - the wine by glass menu can be a bit more extensive. Our order: baked potato bing bread, tuna and steak was 5 out 5, the smoked mackerel dish was solid but was lacking some flavors. The desert was to die for, apparently, it was something seasonal as I can't find it on the online menu. We will be back again.

Ashish Sen

Excellent food and service. Dishes are unique. Better than any other Michelin one star restaurant in the Chicago area. My only quibble : no diet soda available.

Brandon Orme

Such a cool dining experience. I would come back here just to get the baked potato bread.

Rebeca Perrone

I really don't know where to start with this place. Every single aspect of dinner was amazing I can't wait to come back again! Highly highly recommend getting the off the cuff tasting option from the chef...great surprise dishes with both menu and non-menu items. We sat next to two couples that did the same thing and our dishes were all different. Not to mention the amount of food you get...the plates kept coming! Literally had 8 dishes! Bing bread was delicious, the salmon melted in my mouth, and the yogurt ginger dessert was sinful! The service was also excellent. They explained that they work as a team and would take orders, bring food and remove plates between all the employees. Could be confusing but they all worked seamlessly and well with one another. Double high five! Might I add, this kitchen was one of the cleaniest I have ever seen. The communal table wasn't appealing at first but was quickly at ease. The table was long and wide and more than enough room for everyone and I never felt like our space was compromised. Overall I couldn't be happier! Left feeling very satisfied and with a smile on my face. I will be back for more!

Nancy Stewart

We went with the Off the Cuff tasting (chefs' choice) and the wine pairing. The food was deliciously and artfully styled. The wine pairing was really adventurous and we enjoyed each of them, although that's a pricey choice. Servers ocassionally forgot to tell us about the dish they brought, but were otherwise most attentive. Its loud and crowded (the server at the next table bumped into my husband twice!), but that seems to be par for the course now. We would happily go back.

Robert Dawson

I have no idea why they named it Parachute but parachute on if you have to, because the food is great!

John-Michael De Stefano

Very fun restaurant, mostly group seating, so you will be next to some strangers, but everyone is friendly! we did the off the cuff tasting menu and it was delicious. Try the bread starter!

Chandler Conn

Amazing food! Great service, but the food blows everything out of the water. Not cheap, but definitely worth it for Korean fusion. The space is very cute and comfortable, albeit in a not super accessible location (without a car). When you can get there, it's always worth it!

thelaser69

Food is fantastic and service is great. Interior is cool and cozy. It's expensive and you need reservations, but it should be like that, because it's one of the best restaurants you've ever been to. I highly recommend just doing the Chefs choice meal. You get a lot of food that is curated to go together and is timed real well.

Larry Meehan

Really good food, excellent customer service

Kyle Cottle

We had the the tasting menu and while every individual item was at least tasty and enjoyable, the major standout was the beef tartare, which was outstanding. The atmosphere is trendy and chic and the staff was outstanding and very welcoming.

Colin B

Loved the play I saw in the back!

Sheila Sao

This place was amazing! All the dishes and drinks we got were super tasty. We came here with our daughter. She loved her chicken katsu dish and banana ice cream. The dishes are the perfect portions, in my opinion. We were able to order several plates, including seconds, and dessert. The staff were really welcoming to us and our daughter. We will definitely be back here again when we come to visit Chicago.

Ellen Patterson

This place is so fun! Perfect for a date night or special celebration with friends. When making a reservation, request to sit at the bar so you can watch the dishes being prepared. Favorites were the oysters with rhubarb and oregano, and the bing bread! Cocktail #3 was delicious as well.

Neury Freitas

This is one of my preferred restaurants in Chicago. Food here is absolutely delicious and service is impressively good. If you don't have strong preferences, let the server pick the food for you and they will do an amazing job. Finally, cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails are also delicious!

Paul Hitterman

Creative and tasty Korean inspired restaurant. The pickles and Bing Bread are appetizers that you really should get. Casual atmosphere, shared tables. It gets a bit loud.

Amanda Silva

Great place, with inventive combinations. My friend and I loved the decor and the very warm, comfortable atmosphere. Our server was lovely. Two of the dishes really wowed us and the rest were just good. I would be interested to go back if there are seasonal changes to the menu. This would make a good date night, since it was very comfortable and never became too loud, even when crowded.

Vinod Kalathil

Chef Beverly Kim brings it home with this excellent Korean fusion restaurant. I was very impressed by the waitstaff. They are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The menu is skillfully crafted with something for everyone and it changes on a daily basis. The tritip steak was perfectly cooked and caramelized. My personal favorite was the pork belly pancake with beautiful and complex flavors. Leave some room for dessert as they do have some excellent options - like chocolate with kelp ice cream.

P Dydula

Would go for the Bing Bread anytime. Good cocktails.

Anaïs Baccara

I think Parachute is ranked amongst my Top 3 Favorite Restaurants in Chicago. You need to try the potato bread and you'll immediately understand why. Each dish is perfectly balanced and the cocktails are very good too. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant room. So why four-star are you probably asking yourself? Because it's so loud that you can't even speak to the person that sit next to you... I had a severe earache the day after and I'm used to attend hard rock concerts!

rowena gray

Five stars! Excellent Caesar salad. Very wonderful food. Very relaxed. We will definitely visit again and again. Thanks guys!

chris jackson

Dinner was wonderful. Me and my wife really enjoyed ourselves. We was there celebrating my birthday

Jennifer Spahr

Food was incredible but I'm giving 4

Artiom Necrasov

Great food and service. A lot of seafood options. Loved the experience and interior. Liked mackerel, tuna. Ice cream for desert is the must.

Diana Correa

The food was regular, terribly salty. Portions quite small. Poor combination of flavors. Nothing really remarkable for such a high price. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The place is small and super noisy. It was such a disappointing experience. I wish I could put just zero stars.

Wendy Roehl

I was completely underwhelmed with the food at Parachute. We ordered the "off the cuff" menu selection. It should have been called "off the menu". There was nothing original to what was served to us. We would have just navigated our way through the menu had we known this. So... $300 later, we'll just try another place and avoid the very young, very loud clientele and location. One point worth mentioning, the service is excellent! From the door staff to the wait staff, all are professional and enjoyable! 5 stars to the staff!!

Dalt Brewsher

Food was crazy good and Grace was a perfect server. Low key Building and location bring a welcome bit of scepticism, which is immediately shattered by a chic interior and whimsical hostess. They immediately identified any food allergy at the table and highlighted each individual menu accordingly. Sterling service and outstanding food...

Wojciech Kalembasa

The atmosphere was great and the staff was friendly, but holy moly what did I just eat? Skip the apps and go straight to the main dish in my opinion. I was told the menu changes daily, maybe it was a just a bad day (Wednesday) to go?

Y Harmon

I very much like their food and service, fantastic area very close to my residence. The employees are always friendly. Highly recommended.

Edward Yu

This place is good! Someone told me to come here and I'm very glad to have followed their advice. I was pleasently surprised to find out they had a Michelin star. The space is decorated well. The food was great and the service was nice. I will say the space seems crowded and being comfortable with my party was a challenge. But maybe that's by design. It's great Korean food.

Karen Cieslewicz

Outstanding food, great service. I overheard a waiter describe the food as Korean influenced, globally inspired. Seems right to me. A must visit

Jose Rodriguez

Solid food. Very well presented. Service was outstanding. Server Claire went above and beyond to make my daughters and I experience memorable. Merengue dessert was exceptional. Best dish had in Chicago this trip.

David Shih

We really liked this restaurant and enjoyed trying out some new kinds of cuisine. The waitress was great. And our meal was enjoyable. That said, it's kind of small and probably not the place for kids which we didn't realize. It's more of a date or adults only joint. Not that they weren't friendly and didn't try to accommodate our baby. Overall we liked it and would come back if we were in the neighborhood.

Timothy Casey

Staff very friendly and on top of things. I'll be back!

Zach Ohly

Amazing meal here. A group of 7 colleagues ordered the entire meal. Some very exceptional courses mixed with very good courses. There was not a bad course and the pace of service/ambient setting was superb!

Harrison Snider

I can't believe I'm posting a negative review, but felt inclined due to the dinner I had here. The food is totally overpriced for the portions offered, and the food simply doesn't taste great. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The staff and service was great, good vibes in the restaurant itself, but one of the most underwhelming meals I've had. Clearly something has changed since they were awarded a Michelin star, this restaurant is not worth trying.

Guillaume

Very good food with a fusion french-asian cuisine. The discovery menu is ideal for testing lots of new flavors. It deserves the journey. The restaurant is a little bit noisy. Very good experience.

Daniel Yong

Parachute is a pretty small restaurant. When we arrived they wanted us to sit in a communal table next to strangers in the middle. We opted to wait a few minutes for seats to open up. The Bing bread, pork belly ssam and lobster were all very flavorful and were the most memorable dishes. In particular the pork was juicy and had a very crispy skin. The matcha tiramisu for dessert also tasted great but it was a little bit soggy. Tuna banh xeo also a bit too soggy to the point where the crepe was no longer crispy. Ddukbokki and japchae tempura were ok, not bad but not too memorable. With drinks, total came out to $100 a person. For this price the meal was good but I don’t feel the need to return.

Matthew Wojtowicz

Good food but crowded and loud. Great for large groups looking to party

Vincent Savage Jr

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had.

Carl Nicholas Ng

Second time here, and it was even better than the first. The yellowfin tuna dolsot bibimbap was my favorite dish from last year and thankfully was still on the menu. Tried the Boston mackerel as well which was excellent. They had excellent cocktails as well which I hadn't tried before. Well deserved Michelin star and excellent date restaurant.

Alex Thompson

Got their off the cuff daily menu along with the beverage pairing. Absolutely amazing food and stellar service, highly recommended to anyone that enjoys beautiful flavors and textures in their food

Mikey Griesbaum

Delicious unique Korean food experience. Had the off the cuff tasting menu and beverage pairing. Service was great and friendly. The overall portions of the tasting menu are very filling. We struggled to eat it all. Worth every bite. Gave it 4 stars because there were some courses that were not great and I do not find myself with a strong desire to return for a second visit.

Mohamad Dafer

Different, tasty, modern, cosy, every dish has its own twist. Go try it and I'm sure you will love it also.

Todd Warren

Amazing place with incredibly inventive Korean fusion. We went with their “chefs choice” meal and it was great.

Shreya Tulsiani

So good! Very delicious food, unpretentious atmosphere, and very helpful servers.

Birchard Hayes

Delicious. Worthy of their Michelin star; some other places are not. Went with a larger group so we had a set menu that was quite good, including a few dishes that I wouldn't have thought I'd enjoy. Would have preferred slightly larger servings but that might have been verging on gluttony.

Michael Player

Great food even better service

Zoë Ng

Incredible cooking. Pickles and Bing bread were amazing but some dishes a touch heavy handed with the seasoning.

Julie Krueger

This is my third time going to Parachute and the first two times were amazing. The food was so unique and delicious and nothing I would ever make at home (which is an important criteria for me to love a restaurant). This past visit, however, did not deliver in the same way. The fried rice had a combination of seaweed and spiciness that overpowered the base flavor and the cod, while delicious, had too much other stuff in it and it seemed to skimp on the main ingredient. The service was really great. Our server was attentive, informative and very friendly. I won't tell you not to go but the "amazingness" did not come through on this visit as it did the first two times I dined there.

Janet Oh

Overpriced Korean fusion food. Was really for ward to it since it has a Michelin star. Banchan was $9 and was the worst I've ever had dont waste your money on that. Dont see why it has a Michelin star because the food was mediocre nothing to rave about. The only good thing worth the money was the bread. The ambience and atmosphere is very loud and obnoxious the crowd that frequents here is not the best.

Shvetha Gohn

Great flavor forward food and warm hospitality. Highly recommend this place!

Richard KC

Warm and minimal interior. Loved the parachute curtain detail. I cannot stress enough the just-the-right-amount-of-attentive-service. It was excellent. I do realize my critique may be biased as I am of Korean ethnic origin, but some of the items we ordered were TOO familiar. I was hoping for more inventive, interesting twists to Korean fare. The food, overall, was excellent, but on the innovation front, I wasn't sure what the takeaway was supposed to be. The Hwae Dop Bap was fantastic, but tasted much the same as in any good Korean restaurant (back in Toronto, anyways). Ditto with the Korean Beef Stew (excellently prepared, but for the fraction of the price, I can have the same experience elsewhere). The Shrimp Beignets didn't seem to inspire our table. There were the items that DID give us some surprises! The Roasted Skate, the trio of Pickles, the Bing Bread, and the Bigoli. Totally unexpected flavour profiles, but still some connections to Korean fare. I realize I might be a bit...harsh? But, I want to see modern Korean fare advance. I would come back on my next visit to Chicago, with the hope of trying out some more inventive creations.

Reservations are highly recommended, but we walked in on a Thursday night and was able to get a seat in less than 5 minutes. We lucked out though. Service was impeccable. Food was savory good - bing bread, tempura corn, Bigoli & Hwe Dup Bap. Our waitress suggested a really good white wine that we have never had with our selection; moral of the story, trust your server with suggestions. All in all, great dining experience.

Stephanie Lovell

Chose the Off the Cuff menu and had such an amazing feast prepared for us. I can’t recommend it enough. The food is stellar and unique. I wanted to order the bing bread for myself. The unagi style prepared fish was such a treat. My friend nicely gave me the cheek and eyeball.

Jay C

Love this neighborhood restaurant!! Great staff with excellent food.

Jason Hale

Man. Cool spot. Food was spot on. Great room, great wine list(hand written). Cannot wait to go back!

Alex S

Completely deserves the Michelin star. The food was seriously impressive. Unique flavor combinations-- especially the mackerel.

Jonathan Hill

Always a great dinner choice. It's not inexpensive, but it's definitely worth it - incredible service and food

Matt Snider

Visited a few times and most recently for my birthday. The staff is awesome, I appreciate how every server in the restaurant will take the time to answer questions and on top of that serve you as needed. Highly recommend the "pre fixed" option, 5 course, pre selected, no stress experience. The menu changes from my experience and thus far never disappointed. Highly recommend! You get what you pay for.

Matthew Coffey

Korean fusion menu served from an open kitchen

Samuel Waggoner

It was recommended to us by a few foodie friends. Don't be discouraged by a location, once you get inside you would love it. Great food, drinks and impeccable service, only minus - the wine by glass menu can be a bit more extensive. Our order: baked potato bing bread, tuna and steak was 5 out 5, the smoked mackerel dish was solid but was lacking some flavors. The desert was to die for, apparently, it was something seasonal as I can't find it on the online menu. We will be back again.

Amelia Rose

Fine dining without the pressure of using the wrong fork for your salad or dressing up. Bing bread is a must. Each plate is wonderfully constructed. The service was flawless. The ambiance is effortlessly intricate and balanced. Enjoyed every aspect of the experience.

Jacob Cuff

The hostess, Grace ,was very kind and let me know there was a 1hr time slot due to a prior booked reservations. The restaurant was packed but the food came out exceptionally quick. My server, John, was very polite, explaining the menu and was very quick to offer wine pairings before I even asked. Claire was also very engageing, recommending the entire menu, upselling the wonderful experience. I was pleased with John's recommendations and continued to order their entire dessert menu. I would highly reccomend this place to anyone looking for a unique and delicious experience.

Wang Houze

Innovative or otherwise, the food is just not tasty. We had the off the cuff tasting menu and the food are all mediocre at best. The only dish that was OK was the fried shrimp. Really disappointing overall

Haley Browning

Korean food... super tasty. There was quick and friendly service.

Jane Kaihatsu

Wonderful, exquisite food - unusual but not too exotic & quite accessible. Excellent, attentive service. Be ready for a meal of memorable flavors & creations. Only downsides are the seating is cramped & uncomfortable and room ambience is loud.

Robert Albro

This restaurant is special. It starts with the location off the beaten track in Avondale. Then an agreeably low key storefront gives way to a cozy, sociable, warm and typically packed corner nook, with a counter extending into the main seating area. The counter is fun. Craft cocktails are outstanding. Then, the food. An imaginative Korean-American small plate menu. Colorful and delectable! Perhaps my favorite Chicago restaurant.

M Timmy

This place was so good. I arrived early so the hostess sat me in the waiting area and gave me a beverage menu. The orange wine caught my eye so I asked her about it. She offered me a taste and it was a little funky so she recommeneded the pet nat. It was delicious. It's always nice to try something new. My fiance arrived and I ordered japchae tempura, broccoli salad, and yuba. He ordered the bread and the lamb. The japchae tempura was heavenly. I wanted more. The broccoli salad was chopped finely with walnuts and dates and a light vinaigrette. My tofu skin was ok but the first 2 dishes knocked it out of the park. He absolutely loved the bread and lamb. Definite return.

So, I’m feeling conflicted about giving this restaurant a 3 star rating. I was excited to try this place and experience their take on food with a Korean influence. However, as is oft the case when I try Korean “fusion” food, I’m left feeling that I would have enjoyed myself more had I had a traditional Korean meal. I thoroughly appreciate what they’re doing, but feel that many of the dishes were lacking rather than being a revelation. Flavors were familiar and presented in an interesting way, but sometimes the classics shouldn’t be missed with. To recap the meal; for appetizers we had: The pickles - the red cabbage Kimchi was spot on with traditional flavors. Yet, here is an example where I wonder what was gained by using the red cabbage. Bing bread - definitely a must get dish and almost a signature of the restaurant. Sweet potato tempura - a very good version of sweet potato tempura. Small dishes: Peking Duck pasta - bold flavors hoisin sauce was a bit overpowering. It may have made the dish better if there was another textural component, something crunchy perhaps, like the crisp skin you get when you have Peking duck. Mains: Beef stew- hearty and satisfying reminiscent of the Korean dish “sogogi jangjorim.” Shrimp Beignets - kind of a small portion. Served with head on shrimp. I could see how some people would have found this off putting. Hwe dup bap - Another star dish. If all the dishes were like this, I would have easily proffered 5 stars. The blend of spice with the crispy rice pieces are crave worthy. At the end of the day. This is definitely a restaurant worth visiting. With their rotating menu I would definitely try it again. However, based on this “snapshot” the menu presented is worth it if someone else was picking up the tab.

David Sink

Amazing food. Busy atmosphere. Wonderful people. A NW Neighborhood Treasure!

Amy Shevokas

Great service, amazing variety, unique combinations, and perfectly cooked proteins. The ambiance is casual but the food is special. This might not be the place for picky eaters, but it is definitely a place for people that enjoy trying new things! My husband and I did the "off the cuff" menu and we were not disappointed.

Yining Lu

I Don't think the Food here is actually good. The fired rice is too sour and the blood sausage was too spicy and salty. I understand It's a fushion place but there is a limit to how much you change the way things are supposed to be. Pretty disappointed for the price.

Brady Luby

Warm staff, inventive tasty food, and cozy hip atmosphere....love this place...

Mrs S

We tried the whiskey sour, baked potato bing bread, the pickled sardine nigiri, the beef tartar, broccoli salad, cauliflower, and flank steak. Loved that the menu is designed to share everything! Great experience for my Chicago birthday dinner!

David Schwartz

Use to be the rage. Now so many new openings it has been pushed aside. It is still a great place

Thunpisit Amnuaikiatloet

Oh my god! One of my favorite Korean-American restaurant of life time. Thanks my buddy from Chicago who booked this place a month before I arrived it was an amazing experience. Cocktail and foods are amazing. Don’t have to question why there Michelin star restaurant.

Danilo Moreno

Service is amazing, but food is meh... Not as good as some people describe it. Best thing is the dessert menu.

Jeffery Wiseman

So this place has a Michelin Star. The food was good, not amazing. Their waitstaff and kitchen are superb when it comes down to time, etiquette, and presentation, however the food lacks the last star in this review. There is room to improve, but there’s is a lot that this place can loose if they do not up their game.

Ryan Harp

An absolute must when in Chicago! The creativity and flavor of every dish I had far exceeded expectations and you can tell the amount of thought and love went into each dish. The cocktails and wine list were on point and were crafted perfectly to pair with the food. Service was also top notch and very attentive, the servers were there when we needed and not overbearing. We had such a great experience and made our Chicago trip a success.

Katie Galvin

Excellent service, creative, unique dishes, upbeat vibe. I liked it a lot

John Sweetwood

I struggle to categorize Parachute as a Korean restaurant. It is definitely Korean influenced but looking at the menu there is little to anything you would find on the menu of a true Korean restaurant. Anyway, the food is exceptional. The pickles are some of the best I've ever eaten (current offering is pickled cabbage, mushrooms and shishito peppers). The fluke wrapped in shio leaf is quite good and should be had before the pickles so you can more fully enjoy the herbaceous flavors. The current rigatoni plate is probably my favorite thing on the menu, so flavorful but somehow lighter than you would expect. The services is always good. It's kind friendly if you hit the first seating. The care the owners have for this place is obvious, the resulting dining experience is a delight. (Easy street parking on top of all this.)

Charles Greenspon

Absolutely exquisite food! My girlfriend adored the Bing Bread whilst I was smitten with the goat stew. We had the tasting menu and the variety, timing, and service were all absolutely excellent!

Sahil Sharma

Expensive for what it is over all good food.

Mimi Pham

Not worth the hype. The food was interesting, the flavors were well balanced, but I was expecting much more. At an average of $100 a person, this should have been spectacular. It's definitely not your average Korean or Chicago fare. I had about 10 different dishes and NOTHING STOOD OUT. Plating was beautiful, and the servers were attentive. I'd much rather eat at The Aviary. Although it's more of a lounge than restaurant, the food is always exciting, flavors are balanced and still complimented each other and brings out contrasting flavors. Rather than mute and blend. Sadly, I will not be back at Parachute. I've heard so many reviews and had friends suggest I try it out, and was very eager to find some place that would be my go to spot. Not it.

Kathy Baran

This spot took me by huge surprise. Tiny joint with flavors that literally punch you in the face. Our experience was immaculate from the moment we made the reservation to the moment we bid the hostess goodbye. The menu is ever changing- but always get the broccoli salad. I never knew broccoli could be so delicious. 10/10 would go binge on broccoli and oysters again.

Louis Khor

Over-rated.

Samantha Hogfelt

Solid spot but I expected a bit more flavor. I will go back.

Emily Wong

Really great restaurant. Awesome service. My favorite dishes of the night were the bing bread which was spot on with the Chinese style bing with chives. Yellowfish was great with the watermelon. Great sauce. Dessert was awesome as well. Wish there was more of a selection but im not really complaining.

Randy Bell

Wanted to be impressed but we just weren't. Nice to have the owners behind the bar and serving food. Our first seat was right under an air conditioner and would vary from hot to cold depending on where it was blowing. We moved a few seats down and it was better. Food was OK but didn't seem as special as we had heard. Drinks were good. Interesting wines.

Daniel Hollich

Great food and ambiance. No pretension, just a great experience.

Milena DeMario

I'm usually not a big fan of communal seating, but I have to give them 5 stars because despite that it was very comfortable, and we had plenty of space. Food was delicious, and staff very helpful and fast. Definitely something unusual, worth trying.

Mark Groen

Love this place! Always great

Johnny Lee

Cool modern hip Korean inspired restaurant, the potato bing bread is a must order

Yanan Liu

Way too loud. I didn't know why but everyone seems to be shouting. Food was good, but I'm not sure it's Michelin one star good. This is the first Michelin I've tried, and it kind of disappointed me. To me it's almost the same as other good Korean restaurants that cost half. You can tell there's a richer taste to the dishes. Maybe that subtlety warrants the star. The staff was really nice. The ambience was cozy and romantic. The kitchen looks amazing. Just too loud.

Pushkar Sahasrabudhe

Awsome ppace to have sea food and little spicy food. Amazing decore.

Janine Beatty

The service was the best part of this experience. So nice, helpful, and perfect suggestions. The food was delicious, but do make sure you like pickling which is the basis of a lot on the menu. Wonderful little place with some communal tables, so be prepared for the possibility of sitting with strangers.

Jose Rubio Jr

Yesterday was the first time I dinned at this restaurant. My first impression of the place was pretty positive, the decor, lighting, and overall aesthetic was impressive. The service here was amazing! The employees really know and understand the definition of hospitality. Food menu was a bit "interesting" to say the least.. Personally, I haven't really eaten a lot of vegetarian dishes in my life nor am I a big fan of seafood (but that's just me). Overall this place was a nice little adventure and I hope to come back soon.

Jordan Smith

One of my fav spots for tasty Korean food. got there near six, it wasn't packed at all. service is consistently above par. prices are fair i would say.

The food is just so good

Todd Peterson

Good food. Excellent service and the ice cream was very delicious.

Raul Dumitru

The food was great, I am not writing anything bad on this forum. I would like to be contacted by someone of the management staff to express my concerns. You guys are great but .... there are some things that you are missing. If you did not boast the fact that you are Michelline rated, I would have taken no action. Thank you!

Overall, a very good introduction into a modern rendition of Korean cuisine. Although some of the dishes had unique pairings or twists, most of the tastes were very familiar. Having had countless Korean meals in my life, I did not find the menu as "experimental" as I expected it to be.

Very eclatic and enjoyable

Good but nothing over the top. The dishes were simple. Portions ok. Good ambiance and nice staff. Not sufficiently memorable to worth the one star Michelin compared to most places.

We were here for our wedding anniversary. The staff was lovely and the service was good. We decided to try the off the cuff menu with drink pairing. It was such a pleasant and relaxing meal. Everything tasted amazing. It's a cute little hole in the wall type place but it was packed even on a Thursday night. Definitely get a reservation if it's an important occasion. Still, they have space for drop in guests.

Jordan Simon

Absolutely insane if you pass this place up. Delicious beyond your wildest dreams.

Been looking forward to dining here. Met up with friends yesterday evening and had the best time. It truly felt as though we were served a homemade meal; from the incredible flavorful house made bread to the tender octopus, fresh out of the garden baby gem, and delectable steak. Compliments to the chef, who took the time to talk to us and take pictures. Can't wait to come back!

Honestly the food here is amazing, but they pack the restaurant way too much. Spent the entire night being bumped by the people at the table next to us. Pretty much ruined the atmosphere.

The Bing Bread is amazing. You can order a 1/2 order..... but don't! Bring the 2nd half home and have it for breakfast!

Austin Sisson

Absolutely mind-blowing. Each dish was a multi-sensory experience, the staff was thoughtful and good natured, and the atmosphere (especially at the chefs counter) is top notch. A new favorite.

Loved this place! We didn’t reserve a table so it was crowded but they accommodated us and were so super courteous! The food was Korean fusion. Had some great wine varieties and got a bottle of French red! Had the yuba dish to start, then the bibimbop and then the beef dish! Loved all the dishes. Came out to about $188 with a bottle of wine and the 20% deserved tip for Jose! Gluten free friendly for serious celiacs!

Killian Le Clainche

Price a bit steep for what you get, then again I may just not be a fan of Korean fusion. Service was amazing.

Great food. Chef's pick for the win.

fried rice is the top notch food is nice here, good service

Meredith Accardi

Every dish I ordered was so amazing. I can't say enough about the food. Service was not super engaging but lets be honest its all about the food here not about service. I really enjoyed my time here and while I was here all I kept on thinking about coming back and who I would bring. Hope to See you soon parachute!

Kelli LaPinska

Amazing service. Amazing food.

Theresa Brown

Nice location. Awesome Korean food. The best part was the service! Very helpful and patient with us. Highly recommend.

Anton Dababneh

Round after round of mouthwatering dishes and sides. Korean inspired but borrows from a world of ingredients to create perfect and simple dishes impossible to forget.

This place is for friends gathering or an after work do: as a couple looking for some quiet conversation, forget it. My head hurt a little afterwards actually. The food is excellent and I can see why they have a Michelin star. It’s very fresh and innovative. Everything was divine: the oysters, pickles , yellowfin tuna and the dessert. Yummy! But please be aware of the loud ambiance in this place.

Take the culinary tour, it won't disappoint. Any place that does asparagus so good it makes you giggle is worth a return trip.

So first of all, one star is a little dramatic but we (4 of us) are still feeling cheated the morning after our visit for dinner. And I don't want others to have the same experience. We ordered the "Off The Cuff" chef-selected 4 course prixe fixe. The food ranged from okay to pretty good but nothing really spectacular especially considering they have Michelin Star. I didn't even know that they had a star until afterwards and I was shocked to hear it. The cheated feeling came from the 400$ bill (before tip) for what was only decent food and drinks. Good service, nice atmosphere, but way over priced and hyped. I would never recommend and will never be going back.

Food and service both get 5 stars! We were running a little late so I called the restaurant to check with them if they'd hold our reservation. Whoever answered was very nice and told me they had another reservation after us at 9pm but that gave us plenty of time even with us being almost 15 minutes late. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I told her I am gluten and dairy intolerant so she went back to the kitchen to have the menu highlighted with what dishes I could eat. Drink wise, I had the #1 while my sister and her friend each had #3. We had a half dozen oysters, baked potato bing bread, tuna banh xeo, broccoli salad, ddukbokki, kimchi fried rice and braised lamb curry. The soju granita that came with the oysters was interesting. I wasn't completely sure what I was tasting but it worked. My sister and her friend said the potato bing bread reminded them of korean pancakes but in bread form. There were chunks of potatoes inside the bread. The tuna banh xeo was kind of like a tuna in a taco shell but was very good. The fish was fresh. The broccoli salad was probably my favorite dish. The broccoli wasn't left in chunks like it usually is in salads. It was processed basically to grain size. The dates and pistachios added a nice sweetness and texture. My sister and her friend enjoyed the ddukbokki. The kimchi fried rice was spicier than I expected but was very good. My sister said the braised lamb curry didn't have any curry flavor but was still good. It came off the bone really easily. My sister and her friend shared the matcha tiramisu which they said definitely tasted like matcha. I had the sorbet which came with 3 little scoops of different flavors- kiwi, salted caramel and mango (I can't remember what this last flavor was).

Scott Plunkett

They aren't just making food or even experiences here...they are making connections. The food was exceptional, the environment was energetic and the people were amazing. I will return again. Do yourself a favor and save room for dessert...the matcha tiramisu was sublime.

Bradley Sheehan

Great food can get pricey. Definitely a great date night spot

Jabez Guanga

Get the broccoli with ras el hanout, dates and pistachios.

Xavier Toussaint

Fantastic, and worth it! Get the goat stew and bread, also the pasta and sofrito is on point

Maureen White

Great, fun place. Food is fabulously interesting. There's a lot going on!

Wholesale Septic Supply

So we almost tried everything on the menu. We wanted to explore the whole range of taste buds and it did not disappoint. Eaten all over the world all kinds a weird things that push the envelope. So this was a delight over just a steak or something of that nature. 200 to blow your mind well worth it.
