The foie gras was incredible, the A5 beef was amazing, and every souffle for the rest of my life will be compared to that one.

Incredible! My wife and I finally made it here for her birthday and as our first date night after the birth of our daughter. The meal and experience delivered and then some! You're greeted with a unique entry and drink, both of which help set the tone for the warm/interactive evening to follow. You feel immediately welcomed by the team of hosts/servers but also not overwhelmed. The decor has a very cozy feel. As quickly as you are seated, you are presented with a brief overview of what's to come but the menu remains secret as each course is only revealed as the meal progresses. You get wonderful explanations with each course, often times by the chefs themselves which just makes the entire evening that much more endearing. We opted for the reserve wine pairing but appreciated being able to choose between that and the regular pairing as well as a la carte options. The dishes were simply beyond compare. To preserve the anticipation for those who haven't visited, I won't divulge what we enjoyed most but simply will state that the meal balances dishes with complex combinations you wouldn't expect with more simplistic moments done on a while different level than you may find anywhere else! My wife and I both agree it's a top three meal that either of us have had in the world and well worth the visit at least once (but ideally multiple times)!!

Amazing food, outstanding service. I‘ve taken my girlfriend here for her last two birthdays, and she says it‘s the best two meals she‘s ever had.

Oriole is definitely the best restaurant in Chicago! Every dish was beautiful and all the flavors were outstanding. I really enjoyed that the staff had great attention to details and food knowledge. Can't wait to come here again!

Decent food, but some things just did not work. Unbelievably tiny portions even for a tasting menu. Would probably skip.

Great Place Good Food the place is clean and

Jerry Pearce

Awesome space! Awesome food! You won't be disappointed.

Dallas Keir

All of the dishes were well composed, pretty, full of flavors and textures, with some Asian influence. So good. Started with Golden osetra and kingfish. Wonderfully balanced. Next was foie gras mousse with asian pear and whipped/frozen creme fraiche. The different temperatures and textures of the creme fraiche was genius. Next were carabinero prawns from Spain with heirloom tomato water. Not my favorite

Amazing!

This dining was just perfection nothing more. I can’t even think of words to say about the way I was served and the food was at the best I have ever seen or tasted the presentation was out of this world. They even overheard me speaking a different language and asked me what do you like for them to speak in Spanish for me ! Wonderful gorgeous beautiful restaurant of all time I will forever be a customer to these people

Ryan Huang

Absolutely stunning. Words can’t express how great this place is. First of all the people are extremely nice - we felt welcome the second we arrived. The service is top notch and feels genuine. Food is absolutely delicious, creative and stunning. My friend thought small portions aren’t enough but not really — we walked out totally stuffed. For the price, this place is actually a great deal — you are getting the best ingredients. The drink pairing is also amazing! We were alergic to alcohol so we went with the nonalcoholic pairing and it’s totally worth it! Definitely 5 stars! Everything is top notch!

Omar Waller

Excellent spot for quality quality meals. Great place to chill, get away, eat some good food. I've had nothing but pleasant experiences here and plan to keep coming back. This place has a great atmosphere. Food is similar to a cafe in Indianapolis I liked.

Joy Green

Great location for delicious quality meals. I love this place. It has a great feel to it. Food is like a restaurant in Louisville I liked.

Anita M

Fantastic experience at Oriole—future Michelin 3 stars? I texted them our dietary restrictions and occasion. Everyone remembered that it was my birthday and even wrote a birthday card! Amazing service and attention to detail. Look forward to returning in the future! Food and wine pairing both exceeded our expectations. Very cute bathroom with cool amenities. One suggestion: maybe put less oil/butter in some of the dishes? It was quite a heavy meal.

Meg Flanery

ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR! Somehow despite all the wonderful things said about this place, it still managed to blow away all expectations. Every single bite was amazing. I don’t even have words.

Andrew Morgan

This restaurant is fantastic, I had the opportunity to come with all my family to celebrate a birthday and they treated us super. the dishes are produced with fine ingredients, you have a flavor that takes you to the same sky. the attention of the waiters is excellent. cleanliness and impeccable service. It is a place with a pleasant atmosphere and very easy to find parking. If you are looking for a place to impress someone, this is the ideal restaurant.

Dan Williams

Fantastic Experience. The team at Oriole has a wonderful sense of how to please the customer and take the table on a fun culinary adventure. I recommend the wine pairing, you will not be disappointed. ⭐️⭐️

Victoria Sterling

Hands down on the top five places to eat in the whole city. Cara and Noah and Genie really are providing a pinnacle of eating experiences here. A MUST while visiting our food loving city.

Todd Waller

Absolutely outstanding. One of the best experiences we’ve had. The reserve wine pairing was unreal and perfectly matched with the food. Couldn’t recommend more.

Alan Perez-Rathke

Wonderful food and great pairings

Alexander Wilkins

The food was spectacular as you would expect from a 2-star place but the service was on another level! All of the staff, chefs and Noah were so friendly and attentive!

James Smith

Absolutely stunning. Words can’t express how great this place is. First of all the people are extremely nice - we felt welcome the second we arrived.

Mark C

They did an amazing job of keeping things feeling relaxed, casual, and not too serious, despite being an obviously fancy place. Also, 5/5 for being celiac safe and reassuring.

taylor edwards

Arguably one of the most amazing tasting menu experiences you can have in Chicago. The whole experience here is unreal. FANTASTIC food, unparalleled service, well curated pairings whether you do alcoholic or non, and a gorgeous aesthetic. Slightly hidden and very special.

Chris hynes

Best meal of my life. The staff was great but the food was outstanding

Pat Diaz

We booked a very special meal at Oriole to celebrate my twins 30th birthday. From the time we entered the restaurant till leaving we felt pampered and special. We got a multi course tasting menu that took into account our dietary restrictions. Each course was presented with care and each wine pairing was perfect. We left with printed menus as a memento of our most perfect evening. It was a perfect place to celebrate a special birthday

Sandie Johnson

Always a wonderful experience and delightful food

lisa al manwar

amazing food

Kathy O'Donnell

An amazing experience and an outstanding meal!

Jasmine Haldane

Amazing. They did the menu vegetarian for me and it was absolutely perfect. Staff even noticed I was left handed! Treat yourself and EAT HERE.

Ben Lazaroff

An absolutely flawless, incredible dining experience from start to finish. The staff are nothing but class, the food is experimental and exploding with flavor, and the ambience is wonderful. Perhaps the only flaw is the feeling that you won’t get this experience every night. There is not much one could do to improve this place, and it deserves its 3rd star in the very near future.

Teresa Mendoza

Great Food, Excellent Service, Will come Back soon

vipul thapliyal

Such a magical experience. Every single course was a surprise and delight of presentation and flavors. It was truly an amazing and memorable night of unique and delicious food and wine. 5 Star...Cheers

John Whelan

I went to Oriole in early 2016 before they received their Michelin Stars. Easily one of the best meals I've ever had. I don't think I have recommended any restaurant in Chicago to my fiends more than Oriole.

Reva Minkoff

The food was amazing - we really think it might be the best food in Chicago. The service was also wonderful. The meal was paced perfectly, we left full and inspired, and their little touches made all the difference - but I won't spoil the surprises. :) Worth it and lived up to the hype. Thanks for a special evening.

Jason King

Nailed it. Unique location. Unique building. Unique entrance. Photogenic dining room with open kitchen. Attentive and personal service.

Jennifer Prushko

Unreal.. Absolutely perfect meal from start to finish. Warm hospitality. Great wine list. I cannot express enough how fantastic this restaurant is

Ron Johnson

Absolutely beautiful food taste amazing and great staff

Amanda Wilson

This was our last fine dining experience before my wife gave birth to our daughter. So to speak, we wouldn't be able to enjoy their alcoholic pairing, which sounded and looked spectacular from the guests next to us. About a month after we made our reservation, Oriole became a new 2 star restaurant in the 2017 Michelin guide. Overall, I am impressed with their presentation and services. However, I felt that the course menu lacked coherences, and the flavors did not connect. Rather than a continuous flow of dishes, I felt like that I was given many tasty plates of tapas. My favorite course was the pasta course- when the chef shaved the white truffle in front of me, the aroma literally hit me in my face. Don't take me wrong, every dish was delicious and on point. Over, I really liked this place, and at the same time, I see the potential for them to reach the next level.

Margaret Mitchell

Food was incredible but our party felt a bit rushed-- I think they were trying to turn the table for the next seating.

Dabir Kassab

From entrance to exit oriole was a fantasitc meal and journey. Beauity and deliciousness in a simple and relaxed environment. It started with a really warm greetings and refreshing drink. While we waited the waiter engaged us in great conversation. After we finished our drink, the waiter opened and old fashion elevator /loading dock door to reveal a cozy dining room. Food was all on spot. No dish fell flat and were delicious. really enjoyed everything. I rarely can say that about any restaurant. Even alinea there were a few dishes that weren't quite there but were creative. They really speaks for itself. My favorites were the hamachi/caviar starter and the wagyu and squab. Only gripe, which is expected, was leaving a bit on the nippy side.I will be back the next time.i come back to Chicago.

Katherine Cho Hermann

Amazing!!! Absolutely loved everything. Food is great, service is above expectations and the environment is very relaxing.

BRAYDEN MATUSEK

cam here with my parents and must say it was some of the most delicious food i have ever had

Jere Virtanen

Ok listen to me. I have seen a lot of restaurants around the world. I have eaten so many fine dining menus and drank all the wines you can imagine. Oriole ranks number one on my list! The food and wine menu were absolutely so amazing that there is almost nothing to say to describe them. If you manage to get a table to this restaurant prepare yourself to have the dinner of your life.

Dalt Brewsher

We dined here for our anniversary and we loved every minute! The service was impeccable, from the moment you arrive on the freight elevator. The atmosphere was quiet and intimate, and was great for relaxing conversation. The food was outstanding, with each course better than the next. We had trouble picking our favorites, but mine was probably the A5 Wagyu beef course. The wine pairing was fantastic, but the room was spinning towards the end of the meal. We got the non-alcoholic pairing and it was very creative and matched the different wines. I would almost be inclined to get this pairing next time as it was almost like its own set of courses.

Scott James

I could go on and tell you every detail on why it was one of the best dining experiences of my life, but I’ll let you create your own story. They are a 2 star for a reason. Magnificent night.

Tingjie Li

One of my fav!

David Choice

Good value for the money spent. I loved food and the scenic beauty around this place. Highly recommended

Jason Campbell

Best food in Chicago!

Pat

man I love Chicago's selection of restaurants...top notch

Marc

To put this in perspective, we a friend and myself are used to excellent food coming from food-town Toronto. We went to dinner 3 days ago. Location is unique and the change from an old factory to a 2 star restaurant is very well done. Food: Incredible food experience, delicious, original, spectacular. There was not a single course we didn't love. Wine: we had the lower end wine pairing which was excellent and very very good. Service: Impecable. Atmosphere: Fantastic. Overall I would rate this place as a top restaurant and I would more than recommend Oriole.

Peter Kelly

Best restaurant I've ever been to

Pearl Verdin

The restaurant was quiet.

Brandon Howard

My favorite place for years

marcus proctor

Amazing dining experience. Pricey but worth every cent. Truly an evening to remember

Daniel Yong

When dining at Oriole I got the sense that they really appreciated having you there. The service was perfect, the staff were all knowledgeable and professional and the courses were all perfectly timed. In terms of the food the wagyu beef was a stand out. The only criticism was the capellini dish was somewhat average in comparison to all other amazing dishes. I was a little worried I might not be full by the end of the night but it was just the right amount of food. Highly recommended for a special occasion!

Ariah Peterson

this place is amazing it has good meals and is very relaxing place

Micheál Ó

Excellence in dining, we've eaten here three times, and each time was just as marvelous as the others. I'll let the photos speak for themselves, a wonderful time, and it was nice to be able to meet the people who make things work well, and Mitchell have his photo taken with them.

Ana W

Very spendy but great food. Is it worth the price? That's still up for debate. Excellent service and attention to detail.

Zach Greenwood

Oriole is close to the top of the list of all-time great dining experiences I've had. The food and wine pairing are phenomenal. The staff's attention to detail and genuine interest in your dining experience are unparalled. Great ambiance and overall wonderful experience. A must try if you enjoy fine dining.

Carol Lawson

One of the best dining experiences i have ever had, hands down.

Collin Christensen

Nice spot for quality meals. Nice place to relax, people watch, eat good, etc. This place has a great atmosphere.

Edwardn Kowalczyk

Super guys

Hayley Hu

The restaurant is literally in a garage, which makes the ambience innovative. The space is pretty small and kitchens are open right next to our table. The service is perfect, and there are many Japanese ingredients in the recipe which makes the experience exotic as well. Food portion is small though.

Alex Bishop

So, wow. Having dinner for the first time at Oriole I had a flashback to my first dinner at Trio before the world knew who Grant Achatz was and the genius and wonder of the food was awesome to behold and experience. Yeah, Oriole and Chef Noah Sandoval are like that. The entire meal was amazing, the service was wonderful, and the room was perfect. And a few of those bites of food will remain with me for years. Absolutely fabulous. The 16-course tasting menu provided a well-paced evening. The service moved along at a comfortable pace with the expert wait staff providing just the right amount of conversation and interaction to perfectly compliment the food. This type of service, which perfectly marries the friendly and conversational with enough formality to make sure everything is perfect, was well suited to the creativity and excitement of the menu. Rather than going down the entire menu let me provide a few highlights: - First course of Golden Osetra Caviar with coconut dashi, lychee, and sea grape. So many textures, so much salty sweet goodness and some unlikely but very successful marriages. The perfect way to prepare for what is to come. - Bone Broth was so rich and amazingly layered with so many flavors that it took me by surprise. Cinnamon, lemongrass, coriander. I could have had a gallon - Ora King Salmon with smoked roe, spring onion, and fresh herbs was perhaps the most deftly cooked piece of fish I've ever experienced. The outside crust was perfect and the middle barely cooked and amazingly moist and tender. How that combination was so perfectly achieved may deserve a nobel prize if one was offered. - However the finest dish of the night, and one I will remember forever, was the Capellini with Australian winter truffle, rye berry and yeast. A little ball of creamy al dente capellini goodness, the sauce is redolent with truffle but amazingly complex with layers and complimentary flavors. This is to pasta with truffles what the starship Enterprise is to the space shuttle. I absolutely loved this dish. Of course the mignardises involved cookies and fernet - what meal is complete without fernet? So that was awesome. Plus we were provided excellent individual chocolate/peanut butter pies to take home (mine was delicious for breakfast). Have I mentioned how spot on the service was? Did I mention that the wine pairing was wonderful? The room? All of these things were absolutely perfect but none compared to the food. I cannot wait to return to see what other brilliance emerges from the mind of Chef Sandoval.

Patricia Nowak

Outstanding in every aspect...from the dramatic entrance to the impeccable staff that is knowledgeable, attentive and warm without hovering to the amazing food with luscious wine pairing...a wonderful evening! Love the open kitchen where you can observe the creativity of the chef and his interaction with all in the kitchen...his wife is gracious...great dinner venue to celebrate my husband's birthday...thank you!

Katherine Becker

Dining here was an incredible experience. Each bite was a little bit of magic. Fantastic.

Matt B

It has 2 Michelin stars for a reason, the food is outstanding

Blake Bogdanovich

One of my favorite dining experiences of all time

Zhang4all Pro

Worst Michelin restaurant I have ever been to. The food was way too salty and imbalanced. I probably drank a gallon of water while I was here to dilute the toxic level of sodium that was in my body. My wife was complaining about an upset stomach afterwards. I also felt a lot of intestinal discomfort right after. The 3 main courses were way too fatty. The people here place the priority on making art instead of making food. The food looked very beautiful, but that was not the point of dining. The top priority of dining should be the taste. If I wanted to eat a piece of art, I would have been better off eating a statue or drinking some paint. The tables were way too close together. I feel the people next to me can easily extend their arm and take something off my plate. So for all the masochists out there looking to burn through $600 for horrible food, I strongly recommend dining at Oriole.

Rachel Woods

Just Wow, Incredible

Kaili Wang

Best restaurant in Chicago. It will be a Michelin 3 Stars in 2018.

Julia Hulovata

Amazing experience! I loved the atmosphere, very helpful and knowledgeable stuff and incredible food.

Samuel Waggoner

Had high expectations, but they were exceeded by a long margin..the evening meal was beyond our wildest taste dreams...nice to have the chef decide the menu. Staff was beyond wonderful..after finding easy street parking very near to the restaurant. Nice selection of wines..did not go with wine pairing dinner but everything was to perfection. Received a detailed description of the many courses after the meal. There is a reason they have 3 Michelin stars...The best meal I have ever had. Each course was not only presented well, but the servers knew all the answers to any questions we had on the preparation..This place is in a class by itself.

Alexander Gizzi

Is it worth the price? I dont know but it was a great experience with the wife.

Brandon Williford

Perfection! Chef Noah and team nails each dish. The execution and service is spot on and precise. The wine pairings and even the non alcoholic pairings compliment the food so well. This was as good as any meal I’ve ever had!

Chris Panczyk

If you find this review helpful, please like it below. Oriole in two words is: understated excellence. Fantastic setting, intimate but not intimidating. The courses are fabulous and satiating but not pretentious or overworked. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable but not stuffy. We'll definitely come back.

John Andrews

Good food with nice behaviors

Macie Hornio

Really a 5 star place love their food and service!

Cesar Remond

Prepare yourself for one of the greatest meals of your life. But the most important aspect of Oriole that lingers with you for days after your visit is the sheer LOVE & PASSION the staff have for the restaurant and their respective clients. Oriole is not part of some trendy or dominant restaurant group. Its family own and driven by individuals who chose to live out their dreams and they take you to the stars night after night.

Andrea Marin

top notch food, service and ambiance

Sobuj Khan

Five star experience . Food is awesome here. A place hat you must visit for sure

Gary Kim

Great food and wine pairing- but cannot compare PPP w/ Pastel in Montreal however cannot say which one is better between P & O only about taste besides price - must try: jamon mangalica, foie gras, capellini, Junmai Daiginjo "Divine Droplets" & Tokaji Aszu "5 Puttonyos" 2008

David Beck

The best dining experience of my entire existence. Thank you for such a memorable night.

Emmy Rozkydal

The food in this place is spectacular. All the buzz about is totally true. I can't wait to to go back and try more dishes.

Denny Scheiblich

And the staff here makes you feel right at home."

Larisa Kova

I truly liked this dining establishment, the food is outstanding, and the brooms were clean. It was a little chilly indoors, so that was not the very best. The wait is good. I will certainly think about returning once again if I get the possibility. Me and my friend ordered the salad and we were not let down. My one tip is to maintain the chilly outside. Thank you!

David Ortiz

Absolute one of the best meals you will ever have ! Tasting menu and amazing wine pairings with perfect service !

Gabe Jones

First of all I hardly take time to write a review. You have to be some kind of special for me to do so. Oriole is just that. It's all kinds of special, from the moment you turn down the dark alley in which they're located. The mystery of what you're about to experience is just as mysterious as their location. I'd like to refer to it as a speak easy of high-end dining. Once you step inside, your group is greeted with an amazing cocktail. The mood right from the entrance feels like you're in an old 007 movie. The doors splits into two sections. One goes up and one goes down. You're immediately hit with a warm feeling from the absolute perfect ambiance. It's not until you sit down at your table and look around at every detail do you start to really appreciate what you just experienced. Now the scent from the kitchen is starting to hit and you're somewhat hypnotized as you peer into the open layout. All the Chefs are so close that I'm sure from any table in the house you're going to have a great view of your amazing plates being prepared. These Chefs are pure geniuses and very talented artists. Every course you experience will continue to leave you wanting more. The descriptions of the courses are like food poetry. It's truly a beautiful journey of life through hundreds of flavors. I highly recommend the standard wine pairing. You'll see the true art of eating at the Oriole as they pay attention to every single experience you could encounter with your pallet and soul. If you have any kind of food allergy or diet restrictions, they go above and beyond to make sure you have the very best 100% of the time. There's no menu and why should there be with what talent they have in their kitchen. The staff are so kind, so caring, and work together in perfect synchrony. I watched their staff take such great care of my family and friends in ways you hardly see in other high-end dining restaurants. Even though they have only seating for 28 you can tell that everyone, including the Chefs, have their eyes on you at all times to help make sure you're still having the best experience you could possibly have. They received two Michelin stars in less than a year of opening. I honestly believe they deserve and will have their third star very soon. I've been here a few times and I'm always impressed. Please don't miss out on this once in a lifetime experience. Bon Appétit Mr. J

Justin Mills

I enjoy fine dining and have been to many establishments all over the world including other Michelin Starred and Top 50. Oriole easily bests all of them. Every course I had was excellent from the first dish to the final dessert. The wait staff was flawless. Highly recommended.

Ian Smith

So good. The ambience is wonderful and the food is amazing.

Salil Gandhi

Was a fabulous dinner. Great attention to detail, colors and flavors were great. I would recommend. I think there's little doubt that Oriole will be getting a star in 2017.

Jason Christopher Hartley

Best meal of my life. Don't pass up the wine pairings.

Alistar Lavonia

I love eating in this restaurant. The ambiance is nice and food is super good. I love the atmosphere because it makes me feel at home. I would love to eat here again.

Nina Bieliauskas

We went here for my birthday; what a fun dining experience. Without taking himself or his restaurant too seriously, Chef Noah Sandoval embraces fine dining with both flourish and style. As we entered this old factory (exposed brick, corrugated freight elevator), we were immediately greeted by name, offered a beverage, and invited to relax into the casual setting. And then the food arrived. We were dazzled with course-after-course of an exciting tasting menu. While we found the earliest courses (sushi and raw fish) too salty -- albeit beautiful -- the later courses of cooked fish, duck, foie gras, and wagu beef were unparalleled! It was a full sensory experience, with an emphasis on flavor and taste! I had a wonderful time, and a wonderful birthday.

John Nisivaco

Great place.

tom lee

The food and service are amazing and the non-alcoholic drink pairing is the best drink pairing I've ever had ( including wine pairing from other Michelin restaurants in Chicago).

Kelsey Todter

I didn't really know what to expect as I had not heard much about this restaurant before dining here. However, it turned out to be one of the best meals of my life; the flavours were bold and worked beautifully together. I loved the Asian influence used in many of the dishes, especially the nori kampachi. The service was excellent, the room beautiful and the non-alcoholic wine pairing a stand out. We also did the standard wine pairing which was good but definitely not as memorable as the non-alcoholic. I cannot say enough good things about Oriole, everything was perfect down to the bread and butter. If I am excited about any restaurant it's this one - can't wait to see what they do in the future and my fingers are crossed for 3 stars.

florine peterson

Great breakfast. Everything was good. The donuts are a must get! Great people, lovely place. Wonderful rock shrimp tacos. I highly recommend this company. Thanks guys!

Samuel Mermall

Absolutely fantastic in every way. The space, food, service and ambiance are all spectacular, but lack the pretentiousness which usually accompanies restaurants of this caliber. Oriole is an absolute must if you are looking for fine dining in Chicago.

Brian Anber

Nice place to go. The staff's attention to detail and It was wonderful experience

Addie Davis

Start to finish a beautiful experience. Staff was warm and very professional. The food was exceptional. So many details that really stick out and make this a meal to remember.

Randy Bell

An amazing experience. You enter through a freight elevator then emerge in a magical world on the other side. It is very minimalist in decor but the food is amazing. It is a high end dinner with very attentive service but not overly pretentious.

Nikhil Jain

fantastic good, flawless service.Much too expensive but that is expected

Coleman Balogh

Absolutely phenomenal. Several stand out dishes and a great dessert. We enjoyed the wagyu, prawn, and sea bass the best. Great wine selection and staff is friendly and very helpful. Playful and relaxed environment. I've seen a little criticism about the amount of salt in the food and to an extent that criticism is justified. I love salt but there were a couple of moments I thought it would be over the line. I suppose a good chef is one that pushes boundaries! Will definitely eat there again.

Phil Friedman

Most ceative food AND best service in town!

Kate & David Martell

Amazing experience. Incredible food. Wonderful service. Would keep coming back.

Li Binghui

It is a good restaurant where you have to try once.

Wright Nunn

When I booked my trip to Chicago, I made sure to make a few reservations at some Michelin starred restaurants since we don't have any in Seattle. Since it was my first time in Chicago- I obviously was adamant about going to Alinea. But also, wanted to try a couple of others while I was there. I stumbled upon Oriole and decided to make a reservation.

Kari Wong

To give some context, I've visited many Michelin starred restaurants over the past 5 years including Atelier Crenn, Le Bernardin, Jean George, Marea, and Gramercy Tavern (to name a few) and this has been the restaurant with the saltiest food by far. While the service is definitely deserving of the two Michelin stars, the food unfortunately is not. I informed the waitstaff twice regarding the saltiness but no adjustments were made. I'm assuming it's because many of the ingredients used were prepared beforehand. I had high expectations but was left disappointed. At this price point (pricing is similar to many three Michelin star restaurants), there should be better control of the final product. Yes the service was wonderful but I'm there for the food. Salt can ruin an entire meal - the majority of the savory courses were oversalted. I did notice that some of the patrons enjoyed their meals. Be warned that it may depend on which chef prepares your plates. Visit at your own risk.

Arellano Leo

Nice atmosphere and service. If you go, try the sea bass but leave room for dessert.

Michael Gentile

Rockstar food. The menu was a hit.

Colleen Fitzgerald

The staff makes you feel right at home! Amazing service and delicious food

George Adam Savvas

Good food, but I left hungry after getting a prix fixe meal, which wasn't a great feeling.

Robert Francis

Oriole reminds you just how good food can taste. Every detail is handled with care. The food is not just prepared perfectly but the flavors were symphonic. The space is warm, open and industrial all at once. The staff are all there because they want to. Each stepping in to help there other as if choreographed. Overall, they've raise the bar for how good the restaurant experience can be...and of course the food.

Brandon Lasker

My wife and I visited Oriole for our 5 year anniversary. What we thought would be a great meal, proved to be something much more than that. Without giving too many spoilers, the whole dinner proved to be much more experiential than anticipated. From the way you enter the restaurant, to the music, to the atmosphere of the dining room - the entire experience was engaging from beginning to end. The flavors of the food were incredible. Most of the dishes would start out with an initial flavor, shifting mid-bite to a different flavor that somehow always perfectly complimented the initial flavor. The wait staff was incredible. Very knowledgeable and attentive, but did not come off as pretentious. Each staff member we interacted with came across as genuine and fully engaged to the job at hand. Lastly, I would highly recommend the spirit free pairing. The drinks provided were out of this world! Pure magic. I swear they had Gandalf himself preparing these sweet potions in the back. Thank you to the entire Oriole staff. This was an anniversary that we won’t forget!

Antonio Adamov

Love this place!

Emily Larsen

Very unassuming entrance on Walnut street but worth the trip and the searching! The space is very intimate and the bathrooms are incredibly clean but that's besides the point! The staff is super knowledgable of every detail of the menu and very formal and friendly. The food and cocktails are high quality especially the wagyu beef. Definitely one of the best things on the menu!

Paul Nemeth

This is an incredible expierence. I think it's the best restaurant in Chicago. The food is outstanding and the staff very knowledgeable. Your arrival and entry into this food paradise is unforgettable.

S Rus

Yummy food nice stuff always busy so get ready to enjoy your table thank you very much

Jack Harbor

Great cocktails !

Daniel Silverman

Best meal I have ever had. Might even like it better than Grace. Lots of inspired Japanese influence.

Oriole is one of the top dining experiences I've ever had. The amount of love and passion that have gone into crafting the meals and beverages absolutely show through in everything they do. I don't have one favorite dish or beverage, as there were so many incredible flavors and textures that played off one another and clearly the executive chef, pastry chef and beverage expert are all seamlessly working together. The wait-staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, as good as any I've met in any business. It's a phenomenal restaurant, I can't wait to go back again.

Everything you could possibly want in a dining experience: exquisite cuisine, mind-blowing flavors, stunning (yet also laid-back decor), warm and knowledgable staff. A must for serious foodies!

Outstanding bites of food. Everything was amazing. Service was fast too, did not drag on like some tasting menus in town.

Worthy of its Michelin Star. Amazing atmosphere and phenomenal service to go along with the perfect food.

The waiters and host make you feel important. I loved my experience here the wine was superb and the meal was marvelous. What a cozy place.

Unbelievable experience. Amazing food. They truly go above and beyond. Alex Ring's work here is masterful.

I've had the good fortune to eat in several of Chicago's Michelin-starred restaurants and this was my favorite for overall dining experience. The staff is knowledgeable, accommodating, and delightfully un-pretentious. My mom had a few dining preferences (she just doesn't like oysters, clams, and mussels, and it was only noted because they'd asked about preferences when they confirmed the reservation) and they were totally amazing about making sure everything was to her liking. The food was beyond stellar and joyfully presented. I can't think of a single thing that could have been improved, except for the fact that I don't yet have a reservation to return and experience another meal here!

Even though it should be 5 star but I'm very critical of my food and eating at fancy places like these makes you appreciate your taste buds. I was not fond of food being on the salty side more than a balanced approach. I can taste the salt as if I'm sucking on a pellet of single salt grain. Besides that what an incredible experience
