First visit and very poor service. Were were celebrating my husbands birthday. The person David took our order and left. Someone else brought our meal. David came around about 15 minutes later, quickly asked if we liked our food, left again. Our water glasses were empty, so we filled them. I asked another server for David. As he came, I handed him my card so we could pay and leave. I must say, the restaurant had many tables available and noticed that other servers were attentive to their tables, including filling their water glasses. This is not the type of service that we're accustomed to. David service gets an F-.

First of all, I've seen reviews this place is pricey, but they obviously don't know what cost goes into top notch, fresh, quality food. And the prices are very reasonable for the portions and all the different flavors everything has. I cook myself and have been in the industry for 20 years and I can't tell you the last time my taste buds were this excited. It was our first time there, I'll be going back very soon. The avocado relleno was probably the best appetizer I have ever had. I've never had fried avocado in my life and the texture was great. The crab was super fresh and the aioli it's tossed with make the whole thing so creamy good! The taquitos have nice crunchy veggie toppings on them, and some sweet tart pink pickled things. Could tell that was house made, and also had the ceviche combo. Again, the seafood was super fresh. One if the fish was tilapia and I wasn't anticipating liking it bc to me it usually tastes muddy to me, but again so fresh and prepared with so many flavors. It was my favorite one. You could have said it was halibut and i would have believed you. I had the shrimp dish but put scallops on it instead, because it came with black rice. I was grateful my boyfriend was already full and couldn't eat much with me, because it was all I could do to save him some. We had chocolate cake after, and even though I felt like the fat guy in Monty Pythons Meaning of Life, I ate half of it before I tapped out. It so good and creamy. I think it was a flourless chocolate cake. Whoever designed this menu, thank you! I will be trying everything on it! And service is excellent! Francesca took excellent care of us! She was really informative and a good suggestive seller. And the server assistants are really nice and great! I'll be back!!

Everything was Amazing from the service, to the food and the live band. My friends and I visited on a Friday night and were very pleased! This was our first time and we had the chef's choice ceviche which was tuna, and guacamole. Our meals were Carne Asada and Carnitas and Squash. The flavors were all amazing and I really liked that there were vegetarian options. Also the Sangria is THE BOMB. We look forward to visiting again.

What an AMAZING experience. Took my girlfriend out to this location and the staff, including the manager, could NOT have been more accommodating. We had a wobbly table and one of the waitresses noticed and I believe brought it up to the managers attention, where he put a clip at the bottom of the table leg for it to stop moving. He also asked if we were too cold since we were underneath the A/C vent, which was extremely thoughtful of him. The food was delicious. The steak tacos were out of this world and I can't wait to come back.

I've been to this place during the weekend a couple of times. It really is a great atmosphere. We usually ask for a table and have to wait because it gets busy so we head over to the bar and if seats are open, we eat there. I've had the burger and the lamb leg. They were both delicious. The servers are very nice and attentive. I will continue to visit this place.

Great service, good drinks and really consistent food. I take my parents here a lot for weeknight dinners. Their patio is gorgeous in the summer and fall. My only critique would be that I wish they had a few more weeknight specials when business was a bit slow. I would be more likely to stop in for happy hour on my way home from the train.

Delicious food- tastes like you're in Mexico. And the food comes very quickly. Chips are excellent, salsa phenomenal, meals very good. Best Margaritas on the planet. Don't go to Cancun for Margaritas- they're much better here! Trust me on that one. This is our go-to restaurant in Oak Park. We love it. It does get busy on weekend nights, though, and you might have a 20 minute wait for a table even with a reservation.

I've pretty consistently had good food and drinks here. The service is also usually really good. If something is wrong, they will make it right. However, when I last went there for my birthday, I had the chicken enchiladas, which were really good, but I found a huge chicken bone in them, which is unacceptable. I told the waiter and he said he would tell the kitchen. I didn't hear anything back. Even worse, I found another smaller bone, told the waiter, and just got a laugh. I could have choked! He didn't do anything to make up for it, but I also should have made a bigger deal and asked to see a manager. I will come back, but I promise if something like that happens again, I'm not going to keep quiet about it.

This restaurant has plenty of history in Oak Park, but the taste are refreshing and brand new. It has been years since I had returned and it was a pleasure to take in the eclectic ambiance. The cocktails were more than delicious and it was a pleasant surprise that something from the past is now something to look forward to in the near future.

Im not sure what happened to this place, but everything was worse than sub par. To start, our waiter was never there, and really slow in everything he did. The hosts were awesome and very attentive. I wish I can give our entire tip to the bus boys that were on top of everything. We saw our waiter 3 times. But even aside from the bad service, the food also lost quality. The chips and dips were the best part. We will never come here again. This is sad since we used to visit this place regularly years ago.

This place was excellent. The staff was very friendly and attentive, but not annoying. The atmosphere was inviting and warm. A nice place for date night,tonight and or a party, or just to catch up with a friend. We sat at the bar and the bartender offered some suggestions on drinks and food. My cocktail was delicious made with fresh mango. The food was phenomenal and the meat was quality. I cannot wait to visit this place again.

I was disappointed. The food was okay, albeit overpriced. Coffee is $3.50, which is fine, but when you’re charged $3.50 per cup, that’s absurd. The service was subpar, it took the server 15 minutes between table touches to check in and whenever we tried to find the server they were nowhere to be found (most likely working the room in the back but still). When they finally dropped off the check it took them close to 20+ plus minutes to pick it up.

The food and the atmosphere were great. The kids meals were fun and plenty of food for kids. This is great for date night or for families. However, the server forgot one dish, for one person at our table, and nobody felt like they could eat until they got their food...13 minutes after everybody else... For nachos. Other than that, they would have gotten 5 stars.

Recommend looking through reviews before ordering. Traditional ceviche with tilapia was great, enough to share with four people or as a stand-alone meal. I had the shrimp with black rice and squash - not worth ordering. Very bland overall. The squash does not go well with the shrimp, but I noticed the often change their menu. Hopefully they get rid of that combination. The shrimp was over cooked and the adobo was EXTREMELY bland, could not taste any garlic or spice. The atmosphere is great, service could be better. Waited a good 15 minutes before anyone even noticed us or offered us water on a scorching hot day after being seated. We were also seated in a sunny area despite the place being dead and plenty of seating in the shade. Our waitress was great and sent in our appetizers, drinks, and food all at once, probably because she could tell we were starving and thirsty. I did notice she spent a good five minutes chatting with a table nearby before coming up to us which is frustrating when you’re starving and thirsty. Otherwise, she did a great job checking up on us. Update! leaving the restaurant, we brought back a little snack with us: a piece of chewed up gum from our seat.

My best friend surprised me a few weeks ago by taking us both to dinner here, and I was blown away by how delicious and lovely this place was! I don't spend a lot of time in the Oak Park area, and I was honored to learn more about its restaurant scene. We arrived around 7pm on a slightly chilly Saturday evening, and were kind of sad that it wasn't warm enough to sit on the patio. Let me clarify: the staff offered us a patio spot, but we declined because we weren't dressed to sit outside when it was 50-ish degrees out. I'll be ready soon when it's 70 or higher, hopefully! My friend had made us a reservation for 6:45, so we were a little late after trying to find parking, but the staff was understanding and didn't give us a hard time at all. Instead, they let us know that a table inside would be prepared for us and we were seated within 5 minutes. Our waiter was friendly and gave us both some advice on which margaritas to order. I explained that I loved a margarita with a smoky taste but not too spicy, and he offered up Maya Del Sol's mezcal margarita, which ended up being a fabulous option. I'm glad I took his opinion into consideration, and I highly recommend this one if you're a fan of the smokiness of mezcal in your drink! For our main meal, my friend and I both went for the restaurant's fish tacos. I ordered mine fried, and she ordered hers blackened. The aioli on top gave this taco its unique taste. Plus, we ordered a side of Brussels sprouts, which were perfectly crispy and a surprisingly smart addition to our taco plates. Besides parking being tricky on the weekends in this area, I definitely recommend visiting Maya Del Sol for some Mexican fusion fun. You'll probably want to try a few of the restaurant's margaritas, anyway, so why not get someone to drop you off? ;)

When I went (Wednesday at 5) it was just the start of dinner service. They had been open for a bit since 4. The food was quite expensive. I don't mind paying for good food but I felt my fish tacos were just okay. No sides either no rice and beans or anything. Service was slow and we waited over 20 minutes after we got our check for our waiter to take our card.

Had the opportunity to visit during great weather last night. If you visit when its nice out, be sure to check out their patio which was lovely! We enjoyed their nacho appetizer which tasted very good. I just wish the chips were less soggy but that comes with the territory considering all the ingredients on it. Their mango cocktail was very good and they were able to make it without liquor for those of you who cannot have that. I also enjoyed their poblano mac and cheese ($10 for less than a cup of noodles). As great as the food and drink were, I found there prices to be too high considering we were outside of the city. For myself alone it was nearly $50 and I babied my drink the whole night which was in a small whiskey like glass.

Nice atmosphere, and an ok drink menu with very inconsistent drinks. The service here is very slow and disorganized. We were seated almost as soon as we arrived which was really great. But after being seated it took about a half hour for our waitress to ever show up. Eventually we were finally able to order. The portions here are very small so don't come too hungry. Everything tasted great however. The next problem came up when two dinners were forgotten for our table and too another half hour to finally get after repeatedly asking what happened. Finally the manager got involved and straightened things and made it right.

Make sure you check out the patio out back, it feels like you walked into a tropical resort. The brunch is great, especially the pork sandwich (for extra fun, try it with tortillas instead of a bun!). Overall, a great place when the weather is nice.

The food here was AMAZING but what really made the dinner great was our server, Torsten. After we had all ordered he asked about allergies which i have a minor (non-anaphylactic) one to almonds. He checked with the chef and the sauce on the meal i ordered had almonds and he brought back menus for more sauce choices. I wouldnt have died but dinner would have been pretty painful had it not been for this quick check. Great place, great people, and ill definitely be back :)

The food was absolutely amazing. It was perhaps the first time in my life that I ordered a meal from a restaurant without asking for any adjustments. After trying the salsa, which may be the best salsa I have ever had, I knew I could trust the chef’s palette. Now I want to really clarify what that means that I would say something like that. I am not an adventurous eater. I often eat simply because the human body requires it. I don’t go to food for enjoyment. Food is sustenance, not art. So I don’t spend my money on complex or adventurous food when I am not certain I will like it. And even then, I generally end up asking for one or two ingredients to be left out because they would ruin it for me. I am the girl that asks for a burrito at Chipotle (and many other burrito places) with my part of the order being: “just black beans and cheese” “Nope, nothing else, that’s it.” “*laugh* yes, I know it’s strange; I’m just boring with food.” HOWEVER, the salsa gave me such faith in the chef that I ordered the Maya Classic Roasted Chicken (with fingerling potatoes, poblano peppers, frisee, chorizo, mole) PERIOD. I didn’t ask for any alterations or exclusions. I ordered the dish just as the artist intended it. I am not a foodie, but the food at Maya Del Sol is art.

Disappointed. The Carne assada came with a burned layer on the outside so thick that even with a medium rare inside the meat was bitter and crunchy. The churros also came still frozen on the inside. Our waitresses was really nice and tried to solve some of the problems, but seems that the kitchen was not having a good day.

Service was absolutely horrible. Waited 45 minutes for a seat to find out we had to get on a separate waiting list for out door seating that would take another 40 minutes. The indoor bar was closed forcing everyone one to get drinks in the over crowded patio. 2 bar tenders for over 100 people is a terrible way to operate and had to wait 30 minutes for a drink. When we finally got seated there were two tables that were seated after us that were served 1st and we waited another 15 minutes to have a server come and greet us. We then decided to leave and NOT eat there as we had waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes to start our order and only got to order one drink in that whole time. This was a terrible experience, the hostess was very unprofessional and our server seemed to find his way past our table without noticing us. I can not say anything about the food quality as we never put our orders in. I had higher hopes for this place but unfortunately they disappointed.
