Amazing doesn’t even begin to explain the experience! Food, service, and the little touches made to make our anniversary so special! Bravo absolute perfection
It has an intimate feeling, good service and great food. My crab caesar was endive and I ate it by hand! Delicious and fun!
This place has fantastic cocktails, very unique items on the menu and all juices are very fresh and hand made. It is pricey but it's in the Waldorf so you probably shod not be looking for bargain pricing if you come here anyways. Loved the chase the mark and the mimosas are amazing cause they don't use cheap well champagne. Nice atmosphere and bartenders are very friendly and fast.
Good food and service.
Charming room, very professional service and an uneven dining experience. Happy Hour at the bar is fantastic and excellent drink and food selections are a great value. In the main dining area my branzino was fine, however the boullibase was lukewarm and tasteless. A bit more attention to detail will result in 5 stars next time!
Had a brunch there, Margeaux French Toast. The lemon curd is a little bit too sweet but perfect with blueberry. The place is quite and there are private tables.
Updated brasserie food. Flawless execution (if a little polished for my taste), and impeccable service. Ryan and Nicole, the somm team, are treasures.
Garbage
Steak tartare was pretty solid, drinks were good. Lobster Benedict was okay, English breakfast was pretty bland and we had the Nutella roll which was pretty underwhelming. Tasted quite old. Definitely boxed and not fresh. Underwhelming experience considering the $
Had the onion soup, excellent! Duck wing appetizer, excellent! Tableside cheese service was fun and a good value. Dry aged duck, just think I'm not a fan of French food, but I would imagine it was prepared very well for the dish. The Francieriers dessert was great! Dessert drinks did not taste as they were named, had the Nog Father and the Banana Foster.
Great place for a long "girlfriends" brunch. Bottomless rose...great idea!!!!
very disappointing! steaks were burnt on the outside that you could taste it even though we asked for medium to medium- well! the mac and cheese "which was the reason i took my friends there" was dry and it did not taste as good as the first time i tried it in summer. the service was not impressive as well, the waitress didn't seem to like my comment about the mac and cheese but the kitchen sent us a better batch and they sent us desserts as well.
I had used this service twice a time in month, and both times i had been great experience and service.Thank You!!
The steak was phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned and the Arctic char was to die for. Im so full!
Our food, coffee beverages and desserts were incredibly delicious. Beautiful decor and a wonderful staff. It was a very enjoyable time.
Great cocktails and atmosphere
The food was fabulous....french toast a must! But the service for breakfast was way too long. Took 1 hr to get 4 breakfast dishes. Very nice place but disappointed in the food wait.
Went here for brunch. The waiter said the speciality was the Crossaint Benedict and they were amazing! All the food was fantastic and perfectly portioned. Service was impeccable as well.
Restaurant week menu was delightful. Great staff! Very pleasant. The potage of potato and leek paired with the blanquette de veau were amazing
My husband took me here to celebrate my birthday in December. I can honestly say I was very impressed. Granted, we were there on a snowy Monday night, but even if it was slower than normal, everything was on point. The oven fired oysters appetizer was fantastic, and they used larger oysters, so we really felt like we were able to taste everything in the dish. The duck wings appetizer with orange sauce was also amazing. It was all drumsticks, which appear to have been scraped down to make lollipops, and the skin was super crispy & flavorful. Caution! You may wish to wash your hands after this dish! Hot towel service would be a welcome addition. For main courses, I enjoyed the dry aged duck breast, & my husband had the pork chop (which happened to be my second choice). Both dishes were incredibly delicious. We normally don't clean our plates, but we practically licked them both clean. For desserts, we chose the gigantic chocolate raspberry macaron. It was incredibly flavorful, & the "cookie" part was much less sticky than other macarons I've had in the past. Service was great. Michelle took great care of us. She let us taste our wines by the glass before she poured the full portion, she had incredible menu & wine list knowledge, & she made a point to acknowledge the special occasion. While I can't say I'd make this a regular place for dinner (just a bit too pricey), I can definitely see myself swinging by for a glass of wine and an app. I can't wait to see what they come up with for the spring menu!
Healthy delicious food choices
Very nice place, elegant, trendy and all that...food on the other hand, not so great
Cliché as it may sound, service was impeccable! Friendly and attentive staff, good food (loved the duck wings in the appetizer menu), and chill ambience. My lady and I enjoyed our anniversary here. And dessert was on the house! Was curious of their maine lobster pot pie but unfortunately was taken off the menu. Till' next time.
Enjoyed this spot. Dark and cozy. Service was good, what'd you expect for the locale. Did was delicious, a bit heavy and rich. They seated our group of 4 in a booth across from the bar, not a fan. With the number of options in Chicago, probably wouldn't return.
Love this restaurant. I go every time I'm in Chicago
(Translated by Google) Nice place chin a lot of atmosphere the food not very good (Original) Lugar agradable chin mucho ambiente la comida no muy buena
Exceptional French cuisine in the heart of the Gold Coast. Go for Happy Hour and the Duck Wings À L’orange.
Came here for Restaurant Week and really enjoyed my meal. The steak tartare appetizer was a bit bland, but the Loup de Mer aux Escargot was quite savory. The valrhona chocolate verrine was extremely rich and my favorite part of the meal. Presentation was across the board was excellent. Will definitely return. Note: I came back and tried the duck wings a l'orange which were recommended online. Overall very juicy and filling. I'm not personally a huge fan of orange zest, but beyond that it makes for a very delicious meal.
If you love Frech food, this is the place! And the service is just as spectacular.
Great brunch spot, the French toast is delicious
Service was above and beyond, and the food matched those standards. Perfect date night spot
Loved it. The food is really great and our server, Kelly was equally amazing. Alot of the dinner entrees cone in at around $29- $39 , but are your typical dishes like 12oz steak or porkchops and so forth. I recommend that if you dine here, you aim for something unique like the Lobster Pot Pie ?$85-$88)or the 21 dry aged steak($105-$110). We had both and loved it. Overall, i think they have 2 or 3 Amazing dishes and 10 or so average dishes. Really food overall from the staff to the quality of the food.
Terrible customer service expirience, the hostess won't let us sit at our reserved table becuase the rest of our party wasn't there...
As always the French toast is bar none the best EVER!!
Great service, food was delicious, rest room was out of toilet paper
I have the best ginger drink. I got a picture of it. I can't remember the name of it. But I love it
Typical french brasserie food. Very good, extensive wine list. Great service
Great brasserie. Great wine list!
Incredible food!
Had the French omelette. Boyfriend had steak and eggs. Waiter didn’t have a pen to write down order. When food arrived it was presented to the wrong person. No steak knife was given for steak and eggs. Omelette was underwhelming and side salad bitter. Would not recommend- even it was more reasonable prices I would not recommend because the quality was lacking.
Great dinner thank you
Greatest
The food here is fine although the foie gras at The Water Street Bistro in Petaluma blows this place away at half the price. My steak tartare was acceptable but certainly not comparable to what I get in Italy. There are some great deals in Italian wine from some good years on the wine list and the sommelier was a real pleasure as was all the staff. My friends enjoyed their steaks. We skipped dessert. Good selection of cognac at the bar.
We had a beautiful evening here! A stunning throwback to 1920's French cuisine, Margeaux Brasserie is incredible. The service was stellar; this is a fabulous addition to the Michael Mina family of restaurants. Thank you!
Visited at eight, it was not full. I'll return friends next time. I see why this place has a lot of great reviews.
Brunch on Saturday was really good! I was celebrating my birthday. When I arrived I recieved a handwritten birthday card! That was special. Thank you.
We love this place. Wonderful food and exceptional service! We go here every time we come into Chicago. One of our faves!!
Came here for a cocktail with my gf before heading to dinner. The bar has a great vibe and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The bartender was very attentive and provided good service throughout our visit. Their bourbon and whiskey selection was very impressive although I ended up ordering my usual Eagle Rare bourbon. The food looked fantastic so we’re planning on dining here the next time we’re in town.
Great, intimate northside restaurant and bar.
All in all food is a solid B. Salads are their weak spot. Ordered heirloom beet salad, whoever came up with presentation and recipe obviously didn't take too much to tjink about it. Not the level you expect
Amazing brunch! James is the best
The fast lunch course was amazing!! The servers were amazing too! My friend and I definitely go back!
Great for dinner and brunch!
This restaurant was the perfect place to celebrate a friend's birthday. Located in the Waldorf Astoria the restaurant has class plus. It is a lovely room with cloth table clothes and windows with views. For lunch the restaurant was not crowded so the noise was minimal. Service was attentive. You can order ala carte or order pre fixe business lunch that is reasonably priced and delicious. The pre fixe lunch consisted of a cup of french onion soup, salad, "beef Wellington " and macaroons for dessert. It may be too sedate for a younger crowd but it was definitely an elegant room. Business people were also there enjoying the quiet as well as the pre fixe lunch. Wine and cocktail selections were excellent
Perfectly executed French bistro food. Staff are outstanding. The ambiance is excellent!
Beautiful place, friendly stuff.
The Dover sole special was to die for. Also the staff really listens to questions and requests. For instance, I liked being able to discuss how my cocktail, in this case a Manhattan, was to be formulated--and the result was perfect.
Perhaps it was due to the date of our reservation being the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend but the service was slow, the food was bland (not due to simple French cuisine) and lukewarm, and there was chocolate on the seat from the previous guest- resulting in an after brunch surprise for my visiting Father. The Maitre D laughed off the now chocolate stain on the back of my Father’s pants and wrote it off as “good luck” claiming it was a tradition to her culture. If something bad happens something good will happen later. No comps no apology no ownership. Okay. One of the busboys kindly handed us one of their turn over cloths and in the restaurant we cleaned his pants. Ridiculous and completely unprofessional manner - either the staff is clueless or simply does not care to live up to the name of their establishment. There are many other quaint and cozy brunch locations in Chicago- avoid the Waldorf.
I thoroughly enjoy their Sunday jazz brunch. I always bring friends and relatives visiting from out of town here for brunch.
Great high end restaurant.
Fantastic food and great service. Our server was great and wine selection is quite nice. The views are great, I recommend getting a table by the window and reservations are strongly recommended. Our table ordered a few different seafood selections. My personal selection was the lobster pot pie (seasonal selection) was superb. I highly recommend that if you are a lobster fan.
Good food. Great service
They say Margeaux is a ghost who haunts the restaurant. But, what legend won't tell you is that the ghost is axtually the head chef. You see, the owners realized 3 years ago that when the kitchen closed at night and was cleaned and prepped for the next day, the owners would reopen and find entire meals cooked and prepared, baffling everyone. The owners installed cameras and discovered a ghost by the named Margeaux, who was a French women who presumably died in the Great Fire of 1912. Well, let me tell you..this ghost can cook !
An absolutely delicious French toast.
Great food. Service a bit slow.
Great French food. Service awesome. Prices reasonable.
Was super great. I always have a great time here. A favourite for my husband is the mac and cheese. I love the duck wings a l'orange. We also had the Dover sole and that was just amazing melt in your mouth and full of flavor
Perhaps the pancakes were the best I’ve ever eaten. The rest of my parties eggs were cold. Coffee was awful. Ambiance was excellent
Brunch that has french onion soup & bottomless rosé gets 4 thumbs up in our books. We also had lobster bennies & croque madame crêpe - delicious. Space is nostalgic & beautiful.
Outstanding!

Good service. Food and drinks ok, evrything has slight soap after taste...wouldn't come back even if I'll only had to pay 1/5 of what we paid.
Very expensive, but the food was exceptional!
Delicious food. Amazing service. Decor and view are amazing as well. Great upscale restaurant.
We just celebrated our anniversary at Margeaux Brasserie. What an exquisite experience - the food, the service, the setting. Everything exceeded our expectations. The staff went out of their way to make the night extra special for us. Chimo (spelling?), our server, was personable and on point. As was the rest of the crew. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks again!
Incredibly really good! Are going to be going back once more. The site is actually terrific for me.
Business traveler comfort food
We went there for Sunday brunch! Love the atmosphere beautiful place with nice people! We order bacon grilled oyster, Duck wings and toasted croissant l/chocolate croissant. They are all amazing and delicious! For the main course we got French Toast (it was too sweet but nice for take a pic lol), burger (was great with onion caramelized sauce), steak and egg(was not good)! For the desert we got Warm French Crullers orange Cardamom and was AWESOME! With coffees! We got bloody mary ( it is sweet if you want spicy you need to ask for them, like what I did) and they have an special offer for $25 rosé all day! Just so you know most of the foods are sweet here!
Breakfast was wonderful. Staff were attentive and accommodating. Will go again. May stay for winter break.
Food was just Ok. I had the NY strip, wife had steak frites. My strip was good, not great. The steak frites came out cold and drenched in a sweet sauce that did nothing for either of us. And the fries were on the side, not on the plate soaking up the meat juice.
Good service and attention to detail. The duck wings were excellent.
Four of us went for restaurant week and all loved it. You can just tell when you're eating that you're eating quality dishes. Nothing was fluff or filler entrees, each dish was very well thought out, prepared, flavorful, and had substance to it.
Great wine selection. Service was odd, we had 3 different people stopping by the table.
This cozy spot in the Waldorf Astoria has delightful service and a dazzling menu of perfectly prepared French cuisine. The macaroni gratinee is a must-have!
What a fantastic dining experience we had at Margeaux Brasserie. We dined there on New Years Eve and tried there five course menu they had for the evening. First off, there service is impeccable. The waiter and there entire staff was very attentive making sure all your dining needs are taken cared of. The atmosphere and decor takes you back almost 100 years to the 1920’s. The decor had sort of an Art Deco appeal that I liked, up to the Italian marble floor they have. For the meal itself? Words are really not good enough to describe how good the food was. This was our first true French dining experience apart from say Mon Ami Gambi. Your taste buds just have to experience it themselves, trust me, you won’t be disappointed. I can now understand the appeal of French dining to many people. You’re going to understand why caviar is so good and why Foie Gras is such a delicacy once you treat yourself, your significant other or friend here. Also to me, Margeaux Brasserie has the best soufflé hands down.
A little confusing to find. There is just an elevator in a tiny lobby that will take you up to the restaurant. Food is delicious!
We ordered the cheese omelette and the eggs beedict. So good. The yolk on the benedict was so good and runny (just how i like it) and the omelette was just perfection. The restaurant itself is decent sized, located at the corner with a bar. They also have bottlomless mimosas!
One of the best places I have ever had the privilege to visit in Chicago. A true jewel for the city!! Hands down a total winner all the way around!!
i'll return with my relatives.
Delicious food and delicious cocktails. Chase, the bartender, makes several unique concoctions. Try a drink with blackberry puree. You can have a fantastic meal off appetizers alone.
I was at the Waldorf on business and was looking for a quiet nook in the restaurant. Easily accommodated. My server knew her stuff and was able to ensure my dietary needs were met. My steak tartare was tasty, and my steak and mushrooms were hot, fresh, delicious. My taste buds and tummy were delighted!
Perhaps order the wrong items (steak), but found it to be overpriced for the quality of food received. However, the ambiance and service are top-notch. Probably will try again and order other items on the menu.
Thoughtful touches, romantic atmosphere, and a wonderful menu. Especially LOVE the cheese cart!
Excellent restaurant at Waldorf Astoria from celebrity chef Michael Mina .Very tasty food and not so expensive .
Great food and great service, we always have a wonderful time here
Fantastic food and wonderful service when we came here for brunch. Great cocktails, and the $25 endless rosé was a hit. Worth the splurge if you are in town.
Amazing service and ambience. Went here for restaurant week and did not disappoint. Will come back soon.
Very good but wasn’t great for what this should be. Service was off with drinks taking 30 minutes and the food seemed like it could have been even better. This was in November so probably needed some more time to get it right! Hope Michael Mina finds time to be in Chicago and in the kitchen to support what has great potential.
First of all, great service hands down. Drinks and complementary starter are on point. Personal opinion. Food could and should be better. Great presentation, but the taste, to me, was not delicate... A bit heavy on the salt with the bordelaise escargots, side dish beans and the sauce for the sole meunière. Foie gras parfait is missing that explosive favor. Rohan duck breast... not sure if it’s because it’s a bit on the raw side or because of the sauce not doing it’s job, it made my stomach upset... The restaurant did try and make my experience better. Took care the bill on the two cocktails we ordered and heat up the Rohan duck breast to try cancel the raw and greasy flavor. Five star to the service and drinks One star to the food which can’t match the price and its name...
很差的体验。像炒蛤蟆,喧嚣之极。美食节去的,唯一推荐的法餐。食材很寡淡,做法很低级,连摆盘都和法餐没一点关系。
Great experience
The food is great...the bartender Floyd is Super
Remarkably comfortable. Elegant and tasty. Understated and discreet.
Delicious food, lovely ambiance, and fantastic service. My wife and I came to Margeaux to celebrate our recent marriage, and our server, Kelly, did an outstanding job of helping us have a wonderful evening. We tried the oysters, tartare, duck wings, Brussels sprouts, macaroni, steak frites, and salmon Wellington - all of which were truly superb. From start to finish, Kelly and the entire staff made every effort to ensure we had a perfect evening. 5/5 stars and we will definitely be back very soon.
Great food and beautiful spot.

One of the best French restaurants in the city. The fried oysters are AMAZING and the truffled mashed potatoes are beyond words.
