Marchesa introduced us to their champagne cave

Excellent service, beautiful restaurant decoration. Looks like the perfect place for a date. The food wasn't that great. The presentation of the dishes doesn't look like the pictures posted here. If your date has a sophisticated palate, you should consider other options.

Great staff and delicious food in a comfortable not too formal dining area. Definately good for a date or small group. We invaded with a group of 10 and they took excellent care of us. #datenight

Perfect evening with a sumptuous meal and extremely attentive and warm staff. Elegantly designed space with private rooms and hidden dining gems!

One of our favs! Best steak tartare in the city.

Visited Marchesa last night for the first time for an after-work wind down, and to explore this new Chicago gem. The elegant, eclectic atmosphere makes one feel at home as soon as you cross the draped threshold. The service is impeccable. You are greeted at the door, your coat is taken, and you are seated quickly. I sat at the bar (seats were comfortable), and was greeted immediately by David, who's warm welcome (and willingness to explain the items on the menu to a south side city boy) made me feel even more at ease. The menu can be daunting for those not prone to frequenting fine dining establishments. I chose a Chardonnay (With David's blessing) and the young lady hosting for the evening recommended the Shrimp Jovan. The food and wine were both great, as to be expected for the price. What was equally as impressive, in my opinion, was the weight and style of the silverware! Alongside the meal came outstanding service. Borderline Opulence (For a great price). Kathryn and Jason were gracious hosts, and utterly fabulous. "Whisping" through the restaurant intent on making every detail perfect for their guests. Every inch of this space is immaculate, every detail receiving as much attention as their guests. Fantastic experience. Best of luck! I will be back very soon!

Very limited menu, not impressed with the food.

Fabulous food. I love the uber lush, 5 star treatment and plush interiors. Very sexy and romantic. The food... will leave you wanting it every single day..... I did not eat for 2 days before, and I was thrilled with the royal decadent food. Brunch is to haunt you.. forever... Sexy brunch for sure!

Things restaurant week is for: impressing a new set of diners that you may not have access to otherwise to build your restaurants reputation (and presumably Google rating in a very crowded part of town). Things restaurant week is not for : dumbing down offerings or compromising on service, etc... Just to get people through the door. We got the second for sure. Even with a reservation, we were seated after almost a 35 minute wait, and even then we had to grab the host who I think had forgotten about us. From there, took another 45 minutes to get the first course. It was... unremarkable. Then came the creamy pasta course (is this a French restaurant?) which was super salty and uninspired. Then our dessert came, and the runner asked if we were sure when we mentioned the mains hadn't come yet... wrong questions bro. Two of our party finally got the "Half Duck a l'orange" - classic French! Impossible to get wrong... But it was really only a sad reheated quarter chicken, and different parts for different dishes even. Manager came after we paid to offer drinks but it was too little too late. Overall 3+ hours and a good story? Needs to find a chef who loves and appreciates French cuisine and can carry that on to a plate - or go European in general? Second star is for the host /manager /owner who would be played by Stanley Tucci - he was super hospitable.

Delicious, stunning, attention to detail. We had a small intimate party for my daughter's birthday in their second floor private dining space, where they went above and beyond our expectations. They even accommodated dietary restrictions with the utmost care. I had the privilege of meeting the owners, their passion to serve and to create a dining experience comes through in their attention to detail in the food they serve and every corner of the restaurant.

The menu and service were ahead of our expectations. I absolutely liked the environment of this restaurant. First-rate spot to take my family out for lunch.

The food is so delicious, and service here is great. My friend and I enjoyed everything we ate here, which included the steak tartare, insalata marchesa, lamb chops, and a bottle of wine. The upstairs and downstairs bars are also very cool! We grabbed a drink there first while waiting for our table.

I would give this place 3.5 stars. The good: our waiter Raymond was excellent. He has opinions about the dishes and had some strong recs that were excellent. The shrimp app he raved about was out of this world excellent. The scallops entree is 5 star as well. The La Davina Casati is a light, crisp drink and is a must. The bad: takes a long time between ordering your drink and receiving it. I mean a long time! The lamb chops although cooked to the perfect temperature had zero flavor. The steak frites, we asked the waiter to cook it to the temperature the chef reccomends. When it came out it was way over cooked. It was just a dried mess, absolutely terrible. The blue cheese dipping sauce for the fries that came with steak frites, I wanted to bottle up and take home with me. So there was some good and bad. Granted it was only the 2nd night open. So I would definitely go back after a few months for them to work out the kinks. They have an upstairs cigar lounge (yeah!). They also have an upstairs space for party rental. Awesome space so walk up and check it out. Bill was not super expensive. 2 couples with drinks, app and entrees $244 plus tip.

Sorry. Bad experience. The people were fine (wait staff, host, etc.) But the food took nearly two hours... Just an entree, mind you. Mediocre at best. Bland. Cold. I was told there was trouble in the kitchen, and I'm sorry about that. I truly am glad that other patrons are having good experiences, but for me and my wife it was just so disappointing. We had looked forward to it for so long. To Alexa, our server, you were terrific, please know that.

Good date spot or cocktail sipping joint with your clique. Really cool french apartment upstairs and cocktail lounge with champagne cave in the basement. Later that night, ended up having a long chat with the owner; I can tell you, this aint his first rodeo. Mentioned that the champagne celler is sponsered by Tattinger, which is why bottles of this champagne are decently priced there. He chose the decor and art himself and works with his staff to deliver an exceptional experience in his resturant.

Delicious food in an elegant and classy atmosphere. Impeccable service and wonderful wine.

Eduard Antonyan

Second floor experience is magical. Food is great too.

Aaron Gilbert

Perfectly fine. Doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. The menu reads like French bistro, and the table density suggests that. But the price point and decor are more appropriate for a fine dining French restaurant. Service is very good. Food is typical American version of French dishes; nothing inspired.

Devin Bean

Such a great an upscale place. Jason Clarke is an awesome manager and basically all the staff there is awesome.

Traditional offerings from France, Italy and Space. Speak easy bar pretty but impersonal service and uninspired drink menu detract from the experience.

Such a great venue, food and experience. Head Chef Mark is an artist of food and pairings.

Jeffrey Cannon

What an amazing experience! They are not fully open yet, but during the “soft open” they have a fantastic limited menu. The steak frites are divine, with two infused butter dishes for dipping steak or fries. The pots de creme is decadent. And the cave downstairs (with a hidden wine cellar) will certainly be a place we book for company parties this year.
