This Restaurant corresponds to the category of French restaurant.
The worst crepes our table had in all of our entire lives! They were thick, hard chewy much like I imagine leather would be. I'm not comparing them just to crepes in France but comparing them to crepes in mall restaurants they were that bad, not to mention grossly overpriced for what you received in quality and quantity. The French would either cry or spit them out onto the floor. A true disappointment after seeing the rating. The French onion soup was also the worst anyone at our table had ever had, mostly due to a very strange strong herb in the soup that we couldn't identify and should not be in any French onion soup. It's unbelievable that I could desperately miss even the Crepes and french onion soup that used to be found in malls in the Chicagoland area from "The Magic Pan" in comparison.
I have been here once before, years ago and am truly glad that this establishment is still in business as there is a niche market for those that love crepes and the French vibe this place exudes. I was looking forward to having the French onion soup - pictures and reviews state this is a must try. Soup of the day was a cold potato leek which sounded good as well, so my boyfriend ordered that with plans we would split both soups. I should have realized something was up when the waiter brought the cold soup and put it down in front of me, but I assumed he had an attitude of “ladies first” as he heard our plans to share and well, cold soup come out faster than hot, right? Imagine my dismay when the next time a server approached our table was to bring the crepes - no soup for me :( by the time I realized it definitely was forgotten, it was too late to order. I’m not entirely sure why I never received what I ordered, but it left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
I love this place. Quaint French vibe. Some awesome French onion soup. Crepes are large and delicious. I haven't had a bad one yet. A little pricy, but you get your money's worth.
One of my favorite restaurants in the area! The food is authentic and the portions are a great size. They have something for everyone. Every time I go I try something new and have never been disappointed. The staff is just as great as the food, so kind and friendly.
Simple and fast, but that doesn’t come through in the delivery. Easily as good as any Crêpe I sampled in France. DELICIOUS!
The best French onion soup I’ve had outside of Montreal! The crêpes, steak and frites are great as well. Once in a while you might even get a French speaking waiter :)
Cute place! Good food! Quick service!
Love the authentic French food at this restaurant. The staff is friendly and attentive. The crepes are exceptional and there is quite a variety of sweet and savory to choose from. They're large, so two people could share a savory for dinner and a sweet for dessert! And if you bring your movie receipt from across the street, they give you a special treat!
A timeless establishment that remains consistent and great even as the area has changed. The crepes are always good. The service is consistent, and great!
Environment is incredibly relaxing, servers will go above and beyond to make your experience wonderful. I definitely see myself coming back.
Beautiful place and so happy they reopened! We need this wonderful place to stay ❤️
Great service! Everyone was very nice and helpful. The crepes are top notch. Some of the best French onion soup I’ve had. I do wish the coconut chocolate crepe had a little less coconut. But that’s my only bit on constructive criticism. Great spot!
Great food and very friendly staff! Owner came out to talk to us and served us personally.
Excellent, long-standing establishment. Local favourite, easy-going. Food is good, space is rustic, with simple outdoor space available in the back.
Unique casual dining. Excellent service no rushing.
I think this might be the first french crêperie in Chicago. If not, it's definitely the best. I actually went to check out the French onion soup (ITS AMAZING HERE MUST GET IT!) I don't really like sweets, but the server gave both my gf and I free crepes for our anniversary and oh my lord I was instantly converted into a crepe lover. This place is very charming, has amazing service and a warm energy. Must check it out!
My favorite restaurant! Great crepes and great atmosphere!
The service was good The waitress was courteous and polite. The crepes were great. Sat in the back and the weather was so beautiful. I will go back again.
A nice quaint place that is admittedly a bit cramped, but has a great back area. Have not been disappointed in the food any of the times I have been here, although I do feel like it is a bit pricey for my taste.
My nephew and his girlfriend just arrived from Houston and wanted a little snack. I suggested Le creperie and was very delighted in the hospitality and the food options at such a late hour. There was no rush to move us even though we were the last to leave. Great job Allan
Our families favorite restaurant since it opened in the late 1960's/early 1970's. Consistently great food and service. Authentic Breton crepes.
Very nice staff. French Onion Soup, looked wonderful, but had a taste I didn't care for. The crepes were over-coiked, crispy & leather-like. Will not return.
It had a chill vibe and our waitress was kind. Good experience
It's very cozy and have real fire fireplace.
Both food and service degraded in the past few years. Barely edible.
Beautiful atmosphere, and amazing staff. Wonderful owner and great food. Highly recommended for a date or simple hangout ! ❤️
This place blew my mind! I had no idea it existed and went with some friends. Reasonable prices, best crepes, and best French onion soup I've ever had.
Really good food and the waitress was very funny and upbeat. Came here with a large group and seating was no problem. Nice place to sit down for a meal and the prices aren't bad at all. Will definitely come back here again.
Great food and service!
Great place, great patio in the summer. Kind of dark inside. Best deal here is that if you have a same day ticket from the movie theater across the street, you get a free crepe!!!
Really great food and service! Mine came with a little scoop of icecream which was delicious. I would definetely go again.
Great food and great atmosphere!!
Some of the best French onion soup around.
Amazing food, with extremely generous portions. The staff are fantastic and very attentive. The back yard is where you want to dine.
This place is a GEM!! Always the most impeccable food, service, and ambience. On my most recent visit, the owner greeted us with such Gallic warmth & sincerity that I felt we were old friends. Our server, Mark, was just the epitome of great service: attentive, witty, and just aloof enough to make you feel you're actually in France. The staff adds a personal touch to the experience, and of course the food itself is simply to die for. Thank you Germain, for everything (and I'll be sure to check out la Bretagne next time I go to France!)
Their veggie nut burger is just amazing. Also, really good salads. Love the vibe of the surrounding area
Great outdoor patio and lovely staff! Not to mention great savory and sweet crepes. Je reviendrai bientôt!
One of my favorite spots in the city for authentic French crepes. The owner is very nice and friendly. The wait staff does a pretty good job getting your food out quickly and the prices are modest. The atmosphere feels like a European cafe, which is what you'd want. Overall, a very nice place to stop.
I loved the mood and the food, want to come back to sample their Armagnac and Calvados.
Best crepes in the city and I love the outdoor back garden for summer dinning.
This never fails to amaze me! Superb waitstaff and of course, the sweet and savory crepes just turn your mood around with happiness!!
The food is amazing. The staff is always friendly. Leave happy and full. Affordable prices
The service was excellent and it was exactly what I was expecting when I got there ! It is a cute romantic hidden gem ! I would definitely recommend for couples and small groups of people looking to enjoy a relaxing evening drinking wine and delicious crepes!
Love this place. Great food. Nice atmosphere
Nice place. Just wish it wasn't a la care.
Crepes were OK tasting but huge. I wish there was an option for a smaller portion size/portion price.
Wonderful big crepes, especially the dinner ones. I am not too crazy about the selection of French wines ( I prefer American wine). I love, love the ambiance, especially in the summer, when the outside is open. It is a must for Bastille day, they have roaming musicians!
The space is small and busy but service was great. Thoroughly enjoyed my dinner there. Would definitely eat there again.
Nutella banana crepe was delicious, staff is friendly. Good for a date night. Expensive
Favorite French crepes. Savory stand outs- coq au vin, fruit du mer, florentine and ratatouille. Soups are always good.
Place is small but the taste of their food is mouth watering. Get there around 6-6:30 on saturday and you won't have to wait. The crepes are flavorful and well thought out. The French onion soup is outta this world!!
French food and the scene here is super good.
This place is cozy and wonderful and offers a great selection of delicious crepes and other French favorites. I highly recommend the French martini and the escargot. The staff is super friendly!
Place never dissapoint. Our server was great as well! Very friendly and attentive. She also likes to skateboard too!
Decent food. Good menu of both sweet and regular crepes. Good atmosphere. 4 stars because it is too expensive for what you get.
Love their Crêpe. Fav place in town. Friendly staff.
Never been here before and I wish I could remember our waiter's name but he was a really awesome. The crepes were good they didn't have the drinks we wanted so they comped us to chocolate martinis which were delectable.
amazingly comfortable atmosphere, perfect for a date or just to go out with some friends
Service was top-notch, our waiter was so helpful, attentive, friendly and offered great advice. He made our night feel so special.
Yummy crepes. Wish I'd had room for dessert!
Lovely atmosphere for parties of 2. Fireplace in the front is a nice touch. Dessert crepes are delicious and reasonably priced! Check out their after movie special with complimentary chocolate crepe.
Wonderful food, excellent prices, great service and beautiful decor.
Prepare to get stuffed with good French food. Their seafood crepe is the best (fruits de mer).
Crepes both sweet and savory were really good. Tried the Banana rum crepe and the chicken curry crepe, both were my favorite. Also, the salted caramel latte is a must!
Good crepes. Offers both savory and sweet types.
Considering the prices of the crepes we expected them to be a little bit bigger than what we got. Also, the taste was not anything spectacular as well. The interior is really nice but the sound of the dishes being thrown in the bin that is really close to the tables ruins it.
Excellent food and service
A hidden gem with an amazing back patio
I've lived this place for 30 years.
So tasty. Substantial savory crepes, too. Not like the ones that are rolled up like a flute, with not enough filling. These are big and square with lots of filling. Mmmmm
Great crepes and the patio is so relaxing
Delicious crepes and very friendly staff
The food was delicious! Best crepes I've ever had since moving to the US. I'll have to go back to try the other items on the menu.
Nice place, good location, vibe and music. Old school vibe and overall quiet, good for a simple date. Once you step in it’s like you’re not in Chicago anymore. Most importantly, the food there is out of this world!! Really good food!!!
A wonderful place for a date, friends, or family. A variety of crepes available, from sweet to savory, and other a-la-carte items. Try them during happy hour for half off wines. If the weather is right then meander our to their back patio. Friendly staff.
Always fun place. Lots of crepe options and some very tasty. Great patio out back.
I love crepes but this place served their crepes way too sweet. The savory ones looked delicious, however.
Overall: Great crepes and great atmosphere, will definitely be coming back here at some point! The good: Great crepes with a lot to choose from, either sweet or savory. The prices are pretty reasonable as well, and the crepes are quick large. The atmosphere is great, with a rustic feeling. Great music as well. Very intimate but not intimidating. The bad: The service, while friendly, wasn't the best. We were almost charged for more food than we got, the waiter also didn't understand the amount of our food or the request to have the dessert crepe to come out after our savory crepes. Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 7.5/10 Food: 9/10
I normally don't like anything French lol but this place really makes the exception
Great food, awesome deserts, service can be slow
Lovely place. Love the decor. Yum Crepes!
Lovely and intimate restaurant with delicious crepes. I really love the warm and intimate feeling of this place. It was like being in a small french bar with people that I really love and also the food is damn good. Decently priced and with generous portions. Usually crepes seem to be somewhat flimsy or light. But La Creperie Chicago offers desserts that have more heft. They also have savory crepes and an apparently notable/famous french onion soup, but I've yet to try them. Hopefully soon because I'm going again!
It had decent crêpes
My wife worked here 20 years ago while going to college. I took her here for her 40th birthday and it was lovely. The waitress and staff were very attentive, providing excellent service until we walked out the door. Food was delicious. I got the steak frites and my wife got the house salad and a spinach crepe with some extras. We enjoyed wine and had a chocolatey crepe for dessert shared between us. We sat at a table in the back garden patio area, which was very nice. Price was steep, but I didn't feel ripped off. I felt like this place, with the setting, atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff was well worth every penny spent. Highly recommended for a lovely afternoon lunch or romantic evening date.
The French Onion Soup is better here than in Paris! The chicken and mushroom crepe is my favorite. Food is delicious and service is very good. Has a family atmosphere that makes it a favorite spot.
Crepes were delicious, slightly pricey but worth it. The patio in the back was scenic and pleasant. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly.
Although this restaurant has been serving excellent food for over 30 years, it still feels a bit of a hidden gem. There's a large room in the back, so don't be deceived by the small dining area when you first walk in. The crepes are fantastic. Great option for brunch!
Went in at 10:25 when it said it was open till 11 today and the guy said they are closed when clearly it states they are open till 11. Disappointing
We like it here, cozy atmosphere, never to loud, solid options for food
Good quality food... less than mediocre service. Waitress took forever to give us our menus and when the food was finally served, silverware wasn’t even provided. Will not be recommending and returning to this place.
Love this place, the food and the staff. I wish I took a picture of the hidden patio in the back. It was just prefect for chatting with friends and eating. The crepe Coq Coq van was fantastic. The burgundy gravy and chicken with the veg were cooked perfectly. It felt like I was eating a hug from mom. Well hope that's not gross but it was just soul warming. The waitress was very kind and attentive just how a waitress should be. To end the lunch, the other staff on a break also acknowledged us and said farewell and bye. I will be back and will take a Pic next time. Thank you for a great experience!
You can find better French food in chicago but this place is cute, cozy, and reasonably priced. The cheese plate was nothing spectacular but still decent, my croque madame was delish, and the fries were hot.
Enjoyed brunch here with my sequel. I had the savory crepe with eggplant and other veggies (menu name behind with Rout)- it was delicious. My child has the classique- Nutella and sauteed bananas. While she liked it, it was very, very sweet, so we boxed it up and got the ham and cheese. She was not a fan of that one. Along with coffee, bill was $50 after tip. Pricey brunch, but to be expected. I will say, the waitress was super friendly and helpful. I recommend the spot!
Nice place to have some tasty crepes when you are in the Lincoln Park area. Food was good and I loved sitting in the patio when it s nice and warm.
We had a late lunch here. The service was excellent and there's a beautiful garden to eat in out back. My son got a Nutella crepe and my husband and I got an apple crepe to share. The crepes were beautiful presented and reasonably priced. The one we got to share was brought out on two plates which made things easier. Would definitely recommend.
Great crepes! It's usually busy, so make a reservation and be prepared for a European-paced meal (time to talk and enjoy the company). A nice variety of sweet and savory crepes, which are pretty large with a lot of filling. If everyone is getting their own savory crepes, you should probably split the sweet ones. Service was good and the place has a great history.
Perfect spot to grab a bite before a movie. Ham and cheese crepe was out of this world good! The garden outback is charming, and the rest of the restaurant has a dark, 70s vibe that feels very authentic.
The service is excellent. The food and the sauces make a real mix together. I am definitely coming back
