Superb food and excellent service! This restaurant never disappoints in Chicago. It has the five start dining experience without the stuffy atmosphere. It's very family friendly with the service and the food quality far surpassing the average! It can get crowded in this restaurant on the weekends though, so just something to be mindful of with a larger group. You will definitely need a reservation on the weekend nights and there's typically a bit of a wait for your table even with a reservation. I split the dover sole and the sea bass with my fiance and it was out of this world! The price is justified by the quality.

It is supposed to be one of the best steak and seafood restaurant in Chicago. We were not impressed. Very busy and loud restaurant, waiters have to go quick for taking orders like in a Parisian brasserie. The stone crab was very good but the seafood platters and the key lime pie did not impress us. We were expecting higher quality for our meal and a better level of service.

Amazing from start to finish. Chilean Sea Bass was flaky perfect. It’s such a delicate fish so it’s so easy to do wrong. They did it right here. The “Whale” appetizer was well worth the cost and left me struggling through dinner as my stomach was running out of room. Ask for Goda if you’re in the main bar room.

This compliment is for Matt Mayer, Manager at Joe's. I had a delivery of food from the restaurant scheduled, which was prepared according to the promised time. However, more than two hours after it was to be delivered by an independent courier, my food had not arrived. Upon contacting the restaurant, Matt immediately looked into the issue - and though no fault was theirs, he offered to quickly prepare a replacement meal and made sure that it was delivered promptly. This was more important than he knew at the time, as I had taken some medication that was time sensitive in combination with food. Matt also did not know that Joe's is one of my favorite dine-in restaurants - and with good reason! The food AND the service is always excellent on location and now I know with home delivery as well. The absolute best in Chicago!

The food at Joe's is good and the service is very friendly, the location however seems very cramped and better suited for an expense account dinner than a quiet evening. Also reservations are recommended as it was very busy to the point the bar area was almost unpassable. But overall your won't be disappointed with the food, but prices definitely make it more enjoyable if someone else is picking up the bill.

I went here for my birthday outing. The restaurant was very nice. The staff was very inviting and accommodating. Our waiter name was Steve and he was very helpful and patient with our table of guests. The food was delicious and my entire table enjoyed their food! We had dishes that range from steaks, to lobster bisque soup, shrimp dishes etc.. They also gave me a delicious brownie and ice cream for my birthday! The atmosphere was classy and very relaxing. I will definitely patronize this restaurant again.

Great ambiance, service was incredible. I had the stone crab appetizer and surf and turf. My guests had a filet and halibut. The seafood was exceptional. The steaks were disappointing. The cuts for a filet were very thin, although tender they were cut more like sirloins. Sides were good but small for family style. If I go back I'll stick to a seafood entree.

Ordered bone-in rib-eye. Cooked to perfection! 4 guests for dinner with apps and sides and 4 rounds of drinks for each of us. Bill was $490, we gave a $100 tip. It was worth every penny! Thank you Joe's for a great night!

Great selection and good amounts of food. We split a Ceasar Salad and the Seafood Platter between my wife and I. The Ceasar was great. The platter now so much. 3 of 5 shrimp over cooked, all 3 of the lobster tails over cooked. The scallops had wonderful flavor and were cook perfectly, but 2 had shell still attached. For the price is was low quality. Overall flavor was good, but simple mistakes hurt the quality.

The best seafood I had in the Chicago area. The crab stuffed shrimps were my favorite. The filet was also very good seasoned. Sides are big so you can share. The drinks are also very good. I recommend the Moscow mule. The waiter was very attentive and kind. Definitely worth the visit. I sat in the bar area because waiting time for dining room was 15-20 minutes.

This place is hopping. Excellent service, Menu, a delightful food experience. It is loud in here though so if your looking for other, this isnt it. Also be sure to have a bundle to spend because it adds up quicker than you can eat and drink! My favorite on the menu is the Jumbo Alaskan King Crab Legs. Your waiter will crack it into bite size pieces for you as well, at tableside. That's my 5 star rating! Great wine selection, fun with a group of friends and for people watching as well.

We came here as part of Chicago Restaurant week, but they also had a la cart menu. This actually gave us a lot of freedom to compare the two. We ended up choosing restaurant week menu items, which means they were well thought-of, aren’t just a rip-off cheap version for plebs. We opted for the Alaskan King Crabs instead of the stone crabs, but the alternative would probably be as wonderful. Also, listen to the suggested wine pairings, because it is well worth it. The waiters knew their seafood restaurant, and provided us with a lot of really good suggestions. The Kings Crab is as delicious as the fresh caught ones I tried in Vancouver, which means they put a lot of effort into maintaining them, preparing them, and delivering it to the table. Would come back for the famed stone crabs. Definitely marked this place as a returning location.

One of the better places that does both steak and seafood well. Been here multiple times and everything I've ordered has been fantastic. Can't go wrong with any steak choice but some not-so-obvious menu highlights are their fried chicken (trust me), charred octopus and any of the stone crab claws. You'll get great service (borders on pretentious as I've had 1 waiter be a little snobby) but generally, a solid white linen service kind of place. It's not cheap but the food quality warrants the higher price points. And for you South Beach guys, this is the same group that does Joe's Stone Crab (not to be confused with Joe's Crab Shack everyone else).

Made a reservation, was seated immediately, water brought, took drink orders, waited, waited, waited. A table with 3 people seated after my husband n I. They received their water, their drinks and their order was taken and we still hadn't received our drinks or our order had not been taken. Our server went in the kitchen n we continued to wait. Obviously our money was not green enough. Shame on them. You should be more careful who you treat poorly, they just might be the parents of someone. We will let our son know.

We booked to go here during a recent vacation, based purely on the high TA review. We weren't disappointed. The place was buzzing even at 2130hrs on a Thursday but we were seated promptly. Service was efficient without being oppressive and our waiter made suggestions around food and also wine to go with our choices. We had wanted to sample some seafood and steak whilst in Chicago and chose both some Alaskan fresh and Rockefeller oysters as an appetizer, both of which were of excellent quality and presented perfectly. My partner chose a steak for entree which again was cooked to perfection. I opted for The crab claws which had been cracked by the chef and made them much easier to eat. We had no room for dessert unfortunately but the ones that we saw looked amazing. A great place to come for some atmosphere and great food.

Fantastic experience as always! You always know to expect great service and of course excellent seafood and steak. The seafood chopped salad is a favorite, NY strip and the roasted corn. The Havana dream pie and the key lime pie are delicious and a great way to end your meal. We took our two children here and they loved it as well! The staff was very accommodating towards our children and we really appreciated that. Our kids loved the steak and mashed potatoes. They also got a brownie sundae that was included with their meal.

We are Lettuce rewards members and Joe's is our top choice! The fried oysters are the best I've had outside if New Orleans. The stuffed mushrooms are decadent. The wine list never disappoints. I've had fried chicken, steak and the BEST beef wellington ever! Love the atmosphere and the music. It's a nice restaurant without being stuffy and pretentious.

We wandered in for a dinner, and were able to snag a table at the bar without reservation. This place is classy. Amy, our server took super good care of us! The staff there wear these cute little crystal jeweled crabs that are available for purchase, and that pot of money goes to a staff member who may need it (eg) family emergency/health emergency. I thought that was lovely // truly a family, taking good care of each other staff group! We ordered the select crab, it was nice, and the green bean side was also lovely. Don't be fooled, the soup is a nice way to finish off the meal, especially the crab bisque. However, let us not forget about desert. The pies are *all* made in house. My friend and I traditionally finish off with citrus, and Amy kindly shared with us her favorite pie; the havanna (worth it!). a nice place, to go for a nice classy dinner. likely great for a special evening.

Exceptional dining experience. A great place for a high end bite or a special occasion. Well known for seafood and steaks, but really you can't go wrong with anything you order. Though I have not tried it, I have been told by those who have, that the friend chicken is very good. It hard to think if Joe's as a place for fried chicken, but I am sure they do a great job with it. Reservations needed most of the time, however at off times you will most likely get in. I believe the full menu is available in the bar, but be aware it get very crowded and therefore is not a great dining experience. Stone crab is a truly unique experience and while available year round, generally is best when officially in season. No need to worry about the size, the smaller ones are very good and considerably less expensive. I suggest them with either drawn butter or their in house sauce, both are great complements to the crab. Service has always been top notch, you should be pleased. Note that this is not a budget evening, with a drink you will likely get up to 75 or 100 per person. Parking is a bit of a challenge, be prepared to give your car to the valet and to pay. I highly recommend Joe's for special occasions and if you can, company outings.

Amazing! Went here on my birthday for a nice dinner. The food was excellent, and the service was the best I have ever had. Our servers were Dave and Richard, and they made us feel so welcome. I even got complimentary birthday cakes. The atmosphere was also extremely nice. I loved everything about Joe’s, and will definitely be back. I recommend reserving a table in advance, as it can get pretty busy.

We stopped here for dinner. All the waiters are wearing a smoking and the atmosphere of the restaurant is really fancy. Still you don’t need to be dressed fancy to get served. Our waiter was very helpful with the menu and could tell us all about the wines and drinks. He was also very entertaining. We had some oysters and an excellent steak to share. Always a reliably first rate experience. Very crowded on weekend nights, but the food is well worth it. You have to get stone crab, it's a must. I also had the skirt steak which was good size and great prep. I really like the hash brown potatoes as a side. My buddy had the large ribeye, it was huge. Really liked the chocolate cake as well. Valet parking is easy and $16. Been here many times and will continue to come back!

While I am of the opinion that most of the Lettuce restaurants are not as good as they used to be, this one is still good. First the service, you always feel like you are the only most important person in the room. I like to sit at the bar so the bartender is the server in that case. They are attentive, informative and always good to ask about their favorite wines. The stone crab is king here. Not to many places in the city you can get good stone crab like this. Make sure to get a good size, and yes it is pricey but if you get to small a serving you will not get all the flavor. Steaks are good but not special. The tables are close to each other which makes it a cozy feeling. Overall I would recommend this restaurant

Thoroughly delicious steaks, we sat at the bar and enjoyed some of the best seafood apps- fresh Cape Cod oysters on the half and truly the best calamari I've ever had. I also can't believe how reasonably priced it all was- yes it's a white table cloth restaurant and it's very nice, but its well worth it. The petite filet is a perfect amount of food to enjoy some sides like grilled asparagus and appetizers. I only wish I'd saved room for some pie.

Joe’s is the place to celebrate all of your Fun life events. Joe’s has to be one of the top restaurants in the city for great food. Their Menu is solid and you can’t get better Oysters Rockefeller and fresh fish.The crabs bisque is Delicious. They have excellent dessert and the key lime pie is so good. The waitstaff looks like real life caricatures and adds to the ambiance’s with their formal attire. The people watching is 5 stars.

I ordered a burger for lunch and it has 3 pieces of waxed paper in the patty. My wife ordered grilled chicken and they brought deep fried chicken and she had to wait a long time for her lunch. Avoid it as pretentious and not worth the price.

Superb service from Stax at the bar. The "Whale" was a great seafood medley and not overwhelming to start. The Mahi tacos were as fine as anything I've had south of the border. The green salsa was absolutely fantastic on top. I got a single stone crab claw and the first one was frozen solid. Sent it back, and the replacement was perfect and in true customer service fashion they comped it. Finished off with a 1/2 slice of apple pie a la mode (I only ate 1/2 of a 1/2!). Chicago ambiance, customer service, and excellent food all worthy of 5 stars.

I stopped in for my birthday 6/22 to finish a lovely evening with coffee and a piece of key lime pie. Our incredibly attentive waitress Neda, upon learning that it was my birthday and first time at Joe's, surprised us with a piece of Havana dream pie, a candle and sang 'Happy Birthday' to accompany the key lime. From an unexpected stop to a huge smile on my face, definitely felt special on my day.

Let me begin by thanking management for taking care of my family. They took great care in providing a table for my disable family member. These actions make it a place we recommend for everyone because Joe values family and gains our trust. The food was full of wondeful flavors that melted in ones heart. Definitely filling and so grateful to have so many wonderful choices. The keylime pie was creamy, balanced and beatiful to look at. The presentation, care and attention of our server Dave Jacobson was flawless! He gave us the ideas on what to order, provided privacy and space for us to share thoughts on what we may be choosing. He was so professional and yet gave us a sense of home. We truly are grateful for his joyfullness, respect, and professionalism! BTW he looks like Master Chef judge, Joe B.! Thanks Dave!

Amazing place. One annoying policy is that if you book a table for a certain amount of people and they don’t show up on time, the ones present cannot sit on a table until everyone has arrived. We booked a table for 4 and one of us cancelled plans. The receptionist was very hesitant if he’s let us in or not as odd numbered groups are not very favored. The place was packed with people on a Sunday night and the ambiance was amazing. Our waiter was smart and friendly and helped us shape our order. My personal favorite was crab bisque soup, a delicious masterpiece! We ordered a variety of seafood which were all amazing: crab claws, oysters Rockefeller (YUM!), and the grilled seafood platter which was a great option for some seafood diversity. Great experience overall.

The famous crab cakes were delicious. The prime rib was mouth watering and chicken served with whole onions and potatoes had great flavors. We also enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms and the key lime pie was to die for.

Had an amazing meal with 2 amazing people yesterday. I've wanted to try Joe's Stone Crab since I heard about it years ago and finally got to. Sometimes the buildup does not live up to expected, however that wasn't you're case here! Im not sure what was better, the atmosphere, the food or the service. The stone crab was the sweetest crab I've ever eaten and paired with their house mustard sauce was sublime. Kristin's ahi filet was delicious but the sauce that came with it enhanced it it a way you wouldn't believe! To top it off, dessert was spectacular and although we were full, we gobbled down the lot (and FYI, the ones in the picture are half slices!) I have to say a special mention to our server, Joe who's enthusiasm for the food and recommendations as to his favorites in the menu were perfect! He's amazing at his job and if you ever get the chance to go, ask for him by name (his card is the last picture) A visit to Joe's is like stepping back into the 50's as time, decor, service and the music they play are frozen and that's not a bad thing..... it's a great thing! One of the best meals I've ever eaten and if we lived here, we'd be regulars!

Me and my husband went Joe’s Seafood on my birthday was a wonderful experience for the two of us. A high-end restaurant to tell your friends about. The food was hot, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The waiter serviced us fast and was very friendly. We had the stone crab and the Dover sole, two dishes that we thought sounded good. Both were amazing, A bit pricey but the atmosphere, ambiance, the Staff and mostly the food are well worth the bill. If you’re looking for a fancy date night or dinner with some friends, Joe’s will not disappoint at all! We like it so much we are make this one of our regular date spots. It is one of our top 10 favorites, everyone should give this place a shot.

Without a reservation, you can wait for a table in the bar area and order off the full menu. We got a table within 10 minutes in the bar. Service was top notch and the food was divine. The bread basket has a diverse selection of carb treats that were nice to sample while we waited for our food. The crab cakes were lightly breaded and stuffed with crab. The spinach, baked potato, roasted tomato sides were all hot and delicious. This is a great high end meal where every meat eater can find something to eat!

The stone crabs were good but expensive. The taste of stone crab was not distinguished enough from a snow crab so I deemed them as overpriced. However... The mustard sauce that is served with the crab puts the taste on a different level. The mustard sauce is excellent with seafood! The service was great. Our server and assistants we're very attentive and also knowledable about the menu. The food was great! The scallops were awesome! The value for the seafood platter was on point and the portions were fulling. It was a great experience dining at Joe's.

Brussel sprouts were amazing! I got the large crab claws and they were not very good...entire reason that I went. Found out stone crab is out of season and they have been frozen...that was the difference! Sure wish the menu would point that out so that I either didn’t order them or lowered my expectations! I mentioned this to waitress and was surprised the manager that was walking all around me did not stop by.

Had lunch there a few weeks ago, was average at best. Michael Jordan's Steakhouse was far better. They put the scallops at Joe's on this cauliflower puree with this awful strong pomegranate sauce which totally does not go with scallops. I was shocked because I heard so many good things but, maybe it's different people working the lunch hour and they don't put the same attention to detail

Great menu, too many choices and only so much room in your tummy. The staff were excellent, knowledgeable (of the food and area,) friendly and attentive. We had a big table so I got to try a bit of what others had too and ALL was good (and I'm a fussy eater.) Well all but the baked potato it was encrusted with WAY too much salt but again it was still good aside. It's definitely on the expensive side but worth the money.
