Best bar in this neighborhood. Ignore the rest, those are not good. The tacos of Hopsmith are pretty good. Even better than some taco restaurants. The only problem is that you finish them way too fast and these small tacos can quickly add up your bill (you know you just want to eat a lot when you are a little bit tipsy). I would recommend going for sure. And if they ever provide happy hour taco discount. I would die for it. Such a cute place.

Lively & quaint neighborhood pub serving American food & cocktails. Stopped by for some cocktails on a very busy Friday night. Crowd was mostly young & loud college students. Love the comfortable booth seating & mid-century decor. There's also a photo booth located in the back area next to the bathroom.

The nachos are not very good and the wings also were small and not super great.. there was an issue with the kitchen staff and it took 45 minutes for appetizers.. but that being said.. the bloody marys were great. They comped the food for the long wait. And the waitress was nice.. would recommend for the bottomless bloodies on the weekend

Definitely recommend Hopsmith if you're having an event! Everything went really really well - attentive staff, delicious food, and great drinks! Planned a large group event here for about 70+ people on a Friday night- we were reserved space upstairs and had fun little card signs for people to know where we were set up. Everyone had a great time and felt very welcome here. All of my guests, including myself, were impressed, so thanks for everything, Hopsmith!!

My boyfriend and I were in the area for lunch, so we decided to give this place a try based on the reviews. It was busy but not too crowded, so we were able to get seated right away at one of the window-side tables. Since it was still considered brunch time (their brunch goes until 2), we had to ask to see a regular menu, but our server brought a pair right away after getting our drink order. I had no idea what I wanted to eat, but had finally narrowed my choices down between the sliders and the grilled cheese. Our server, without missing a beat, recommended the grilled cheese over anything else, and I was not disappointed. Their grilled cheese measures 12" long and is filled with crisp bacon, two different cheeses, some spicy mayo and two fried eggs. In my opinion, if you're going savory, an egg always makes it taste better. Always (it should be noted that I also love eggs - that might have something to do with it) The service was great, the food and drinks were spectacular, and our window seat provided for excellent people watching. I can't wait until I'm in the area again to sample more of the menu.

Place lost my debit card. Took about 20 minutes of no answers before someone (not my waitress) who I assume was the manager admitted they lost it. Never did see that waitress who lost it in the first place again, either. Now, I get it, shit happens, but then again it's literally THE DAY BEFORE I'm supposed to get a custom suit for my brothers wedding and when I was planning to book the bachelors party. And no, I'm really not making this up. Them losing my card really, REALLY screwed up my week. So when I get the equivalent of a shrug and a "yaaa... we cant find it at this point" (what I was actually told...), you'll pardon me for being slightly pissed. Amazing drink menu - tons of good beer. Food was pretty normal for what you're paying. Terrible fucking staff. Posted on 3/6, 11:24pm.

I came here to meet up with friends on a Friday night and it was a good time! We spent most of our time upstairs and we didn't have to wait too long for drinks. The music was good and there are several TVs - would considering coming back to watch games. There are a lot of bars right in this area that often have lines to get in, but this one did not, which I appreciated.

Good beer selection and a good change of pace for the neighborhood. The menu is serviceable but a bit boring. My real gripe here is the service. I've been here about a half dozen times and have waited far too long 4/6 times. Overall poor execution of a simple concept (beer-centric sports bar).

Spicy burger on menu! Asked how I wanted it cooked. I said medium rare. I got medium. While the burger came with hot Cheetos, a jalepeno cheese sauce and a couple of slices of jalepeno, it lacked "heat." Great bun though and I are it all. Fries could have been crisper. Good and fast service.

If only they didn't keep running out of Tank 7! They will still get 5 stars from me. This is a fun place! I would recommend dinner before 9pm. Especially before a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. They have a classic American food menu with a scratch kitchen. It's run/owned by the onion group. Check out the bar above with the VW van. Makes for an awesome art piece and focal point of the room. This also might be one of the only places with a beer tap handle at the table. Pour your own and have a blast!

He went into my bag and threw out some rare beer I was carrying that I had no intention of opening there or anytime soon. Withoutwarning or asking me. He just did it. Garbage place. Never going back.

Good atmosphere. NFL playoff weekend. Wife and I ordered nachos and split a cheeseburger. We also had 2 beers. Nachos was terrible, huge amount but very very dry chicken, cheese all dried up, and beans,all dry...not fresh. Burger meat dry too..not fresh or juicy! We will not go back. Beer was fine. We were there during Saturday lunch time so not too busy but later got busier. Service was ok. But food was disappointing.

Service was unacceptably slow, first off. I was there for lunch this past Sunday, I sat in the upstairs area with my fellow guests. We maybe talked to our waitress three times in a two hour sitting. There came a point as we were waiting for drink refills that the group of servers standing at the bar were playing some sort of game throwing rings over the bottles behind the bar. Unacceptable. Strike one. Now for the food. I got a burger, which was not asked how I wanted it cooked, it was charred and rubbery. Strike two. I also ordered it with only lettuce tomato and cheese and for 16 bucks, it seems my selected toppings made said burger very small. Strike 3. The only thing I enjoyed, besides the conversation with those I was with, was a very good music selection. Though apparently we got lucky, according to the waitress. Won’t be coming back.

Annoying to say the least. Trying to watch a game? Well be ready to defend your own drinks and food, as they will try to clear your table multiple times before you leave. I was disappointed to count 20 times when the bus boys tried to take our food and drinks, sometimes successfully. Not one to complain about a clean table however they were clearing it at half full and when i had told them multiple times not too. I gave them a 1 star because I couldn't give them zero.

Came for dinner after work. Food was horrible and one of their employees stole my phone. Walked away from the table for 8 seconds and my phone was gone. Matthew, the manager, checked the cameras and the only 2 people to approach the table were their employees. I tried staying around to keep looking because I know exactly where the phone was, my phone was still paired to my watch, was still there on find my iPhone and it didn’t never came up. Phone went missing at 10pm and it was still there until 4:30am- after they closed. Obviously the only people that would be there that long would be an employee, and the manager said only two employees approached the table. I tried contacting to see if they could help in anyway but they don’t care. Now I’m out $30 for my horrible food and $275 to replace my phone. Worst decision ever to go to this bar.

Best bar around the Viagra Triangle. The retractable roof upstairs is great. I am only going to mention the next two things, so that that they improve them, otherwise well done! 1. The tables with the beer taps, upstairs, they can be a rip off, but only if you get a new keg and have to pay for foamy beers. 2. I wish the had better day hours.

Fun atmosphere, tons of beer options on tap, and good food! I split the nachos with my husband and we loved them. They were honestly big enough for a whole family to split! I also got the Mac and a cheese which was great and my husband got a burger. They also have an option to replace all burger patties with a vegetarian option! I also had a great waitress when I was here. I had a fun time overall and would highly recommend coming here either for some good drinks and food or for late night drinking.

I LOVED the vibe. The Windows made a great sunset atmosphere for the evening. Music was good... fun for an evening of drinks and friends, but not overly imposing. Food was OKAY, but i suspect it had to do with the unusually large and fast influx of people (our group of 100+) when we arrived. My suggestion: Bloody Mary drinks need garnishes... salted rim, celery, pickle, olives, (cheese cubes/pepperoni/shrimp if you are fancy). Otherwise its just tomato juice with a bit of booze. I would definitely visit again.

Ok so set your expectations, you're in river north/gold coast area, a draft beer will be $7. Excepting that they have a great beer list, a lot of Oktoberfest right now given the time of year. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Only food I had was sweet potato fries that a really enjoyed. I've heard tell of some good nightly specials. If you want to just grab a drink and catch up, this is a solid place for that.

This bar sucks... I'm celebrating my 21st birthday from Detroit and I walk in at 310, friendly, reading the sign that says it closes at 4am. The 3 bouncers say the bartender is calling last call, to hurry and order a drink. So I did, go to the bathroom, and when I came out they told me and 3 friends to leave... i say but there's 12 people sitting at the bar, I'm told they're all employees .... mind you, when I went in the bathroom, it smelled like a fresh smoked blunt... so they're more worried about their employees than their customers... when the bouncers walked us outside he says, fu** you guys.... i don't know if it's because I'm from Detroit and we're all a huge family, or if Chicago really has no respect for their customers.

Very accommodating for a large group to hang out starting around lunch time and staying for a couple hours. Our server Kelly was very on top of it and super patient with all of us. Only reason I can't give 5 stars: stop serving beer in frosted/frozen glasses. They're so cold that it creates ice blocks of beer in the glass. Plus any basic alcohol service class tells you that serving beer in frosted mugs ruins the flavor and carbonation of the beer.

I come here a lot, because it's a Michigan State bar. It gets pretty crazy on game days. Always a good beer list. The food menu is whatever. The bartenders are usually pretty cool, even when it's nuts.
