Want some great pizza in Chicago? There aren't enough words to describe the food and the fun we had. I ordered a Canadian bacon with pineapples pizza and it was the best I've ever had. The pineapples seemed to be fresh and not out of a can. Tons on Canadian bacon. It was stacked double. The wings (we got half no sauce/half with sauce) were huge. I don't care much for hot sauce and I loved the wings with no sauce dipped in Ranch dressing. Our waitress was great, wish I would have gotten her name to give her props. Our soda never got empty. Took the leftovers home and they were great three day later. If you love cheese, it's like they put an inch of it on top of the pizza. We can't wait to go back here to eat.

Service was reasonable, but could have been faster and friendlier. Neat atmosphere if you're into a nostalgic noir vibe featuring al Capone. Fries were very good. The gluten free piazza crust is not made fresh, isn't that great, is only available in one size and cannot be deep dish. Restrooms appeared clean and well stocked.

Wow.. I never ever had kind of this best pizza before(I ordered deep dish pizza of The Chicago flavor), since I met Exchequer. I will definitely introduce to my friends to visit here even today the server acted friendly and actually racist to me and she was like keeping on rushed me out of their restaurant. This is totally made me feeling bad.

Is there a bad thing on the menu! It's old and dark and mb a little run down but the food is spectacular. Customer service is generally top notch, and the patrons leave the ick at the door and are just friendly with each other. Oh the drinks r hearty lol. I've taken many visitors to exchequer. No one hb disappointed.

Ribs tasted like they were boiled in water and a little sauce was thrown on top and served cold. The broccoli was a combination of old and new crowns. However, the next day, the blunder was corrected.

You will see pictures of Al Capone and other historic mobsters. Recommend if you going on the weekend to this place try to go after the lunch rush. The food portions are large they have a good selection of beer choices. For different twist on wings I recommend the Ginger sesame wings. They had your traditional sandwich pasta dishes they had salmon and vegetable dishes. I don't recall seeing a kids menu this is truly an adult establishment.All I can say about this restaurant... It is truly gangster!!!!!

We went to this restaurant because it has a good rating of review. The food is ok but the waitress was not good. When we were in the middle of eating, she approached to give us the check. She also tried to clean up our dishes as we haven't finished our food. It was a weekday evening and no one was waiting for the table. I just couldn't understand why she was in such a rush. It was not a good experience.

While staying at the Parker House Hilton, this is the place the concierge recommended for good deep dish pizza. And he wasn't wrong. It's only about half a block away from the hotel, so even in the rain it was a quick walk. Service was friendly, and my personal size deep dish pizza was every bit as awesome as I'd hoped it would be. And since I'm not much of a pizza person, that's saying something.

Wow where to start, this place was so good and ticked every box that we actually went back four times with friends. The bar was amazing as you walked in, the Chicago revolution beer was just superb!!!. A local IPA brewed in the city. The staff were so nice and helpful, one lady gave us a talk about the place being one of Al Capones drinking places. The food was always 10/10*. They have 50% discounts on different foods. My 14oz burger was $7.50. It was huge!!!. Enjoy this place if you go as you definitely should eat here. Highly recommend

If I could give 0 stars I would!!! We live downtown and decided to stop in for a drink a see what this place was all about. They have no one at the host stand, so we seat ourselves at a pub table next to the bar. NO ONE ACKNOWLEDGED us!!! Two people then show up to the host stand and are too busy on their phone to say hello to us. We waited and waited and no acknowledgement from a soul. I even got up and sat on the bench seat near the host desk while my girlfriend went to use the restroom and STILL NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT from ANYONE!!! I worked in the bar business for MANY years before making a change for better hours, and I have NEVER been more appalled by service at a Chicago bar. It was not busy at all so there is NO EXCUSE AT ALL!!!! AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!

Great place. I got the skirt steak sandwich as the lunch special. Minimalistic and no gimmicks here. Just a good quality steak sandwich for not that bad of a price. Highly recommend. I'll probably go back and try their pizza and ribs which are probably the items they are known for.

This was my first genuine Chicago deep dish pizza. And I loved it. But just in case it may not have satisfied I also got the "fall off the bone" ribs. Both were great. We sat outside and were serenaded by L Train on S Wabash Ave. Although the conversation had to stop and start it just added to the charm. Definitely go to this place. Servers were fantastic. It was a slow steady Monday night. So we could ask lots of questions about the history of the place. Very cool.

Literally just went in at 3pm. Basically empty restaurant. My partner and I sat there for a good 7+ minutes before we decided to get up and leave. Nobody ever came to greet us. Multiple employees walked past us and we're eating lunch while what seemed to be the manager was at the first table by the door on his laptop with someone else. Bartenders were talking to each other the whole time. Nobody came to greet us. We felt ignored and not wanted. Left because we are on vacation and decided to find somewhere else in hopes for better service.

Great food! I had the apple walnut salad and the chicken was real chicken breast grilled perfectly and the perfect amount of blue cheese. The decor is a little dated but they played great classic rock. Prices are reasonable and service was good.

Service no good. I asked the waitress to bring ranch sauce since the salad had no dressing...she brought it too late...I didn't eat the salad. She brought the check and she never brought a box for my leftovers. The salmon and rice was delicious.

Staff is great! Prices are EXTREMELY reasonable compared to the rest of Chicago. I would rate the food an 8 out of 10. Had a burger 1 night and fish and chips tonight. Definitely worth the price and experience. Amazing pizza and the Greek salad was the best I've ever had. Everything was fantastic.

I loved the experience here! The decor, while somewhat typical of a pub and dinner location, was very charming, and the seats were comfy. Our waitress was extremely friendly, and whenever she made a mistake (she was new), she would apologize and amend it. She checked in often and thoroughly and was very sweet! The food, too, was delicious! The house salad tasted very fresh, and the vinaigrette was tasty. I ordered the fish and chips; the batter on the fish was very flavorful, but a little thick, so it was crunchy on most of it but a little chewy in a couple spots; the chips were perfectly salty and beautifully fried, as every chip should be. Reasonable prices, friendly wait staff, and delicious food make this a great place to stop during any visit to Chicago!

Pizza was great for the first 3 minutes while hot. After the Chicago deep dish sits for a few minutes the cheese starts to sit back up and it's like eating a block of mozz. Crust is pretty plain too. I got the Mob pizza. They sell themselves as "Capone ate here" but Capone died in 48 and they opened 15 or 20 years later. Capone had a speak easy upstairs but not the same in my opinion. Thats like saying you should check out my cool neighbors place but the door is always locked. They should repair the upstairs and move into the retro 20's club then it would be closer to true.

Every time I'm in Chicago, I make a stop here. I like the vibe and atmosphere. It's a local joint rather than tourist's. A bit like Cheers if you know what I mean. I'm the only one with a luggage and a guitar. But they welcome you even if you're a total stranger. I like their Al Capone theme, too. Good food, good drinks with reasonable prices. I will be back.

This restaurant had very good deep dish pizza. The service was very good and the waitress knew the history of the restaurant that use to be a speak easy frequented by Al Capone. The restaurant still has a concealed door that was an escape route for Capone during the prohibition era. A great meal with history!!! Great place. Great service. The waitress has worked there for over 20 years and was absolutely wonderful and helpful. Pizza was great. Hot and plenty of cheese. The atmosphere for the roaring 20’s. Was pretty cool. Need to visit

Good but not great. I ate here with a good of about 10 people. Food was OK. (I ordered the Cajun chicken). Service was friendly but also not great. It took nearly an hour for us to get our food and one order was completely missed.

I went to Exchequer with friends who highly recomended the pizza. I didn't like it at all, and even they were rethinking their opinion of it. It was my first time, so I don't know, but they all swore it used to be better. Hopefully it'll get better again, but even if it does I'll probably never know. With all the great pizza within walking distance I seriously doubt I'll ever go back to Exchequer. Service was good enough to earn them a second star.

First review ever because it was so bad. Service terrible. Rugs smell. Hamburger was a hockey puck. Bartender to busy talking to serve drinks. Chili was tasteless. Wings were soggy.

I took a group of friends visiting from out of town after walking around millennium park and I was really disappointed in the quality of the food. The deep dish had gobs of cheese that wasn't melted. The dip for the Italian beef was so salty it was inedible. The mozzarella sticks tasted like they had just come out of the microwave. It was a bad showing for Chicago food. I'm not giving it one star because the service was good, the atmosphere was decent and it's in a convenient location. I will not be coming back.

Great place to head to before a home Chicago Bears game! One of the best brunch buffets that make it seem like you are tailgating. Then have take a nice walk to Soldier Field and watch the Bears dominate.

Cool interior and cool feeling that you're somewhere Al Capone dined. I got the Capone burger to really get in the spirit and it was decent. Very messy! But still good. The mozzarella sticks we're really good and I would get them again. Service wasn't great. I think our waitress was covering for someone else so maybe that's why. Food took a really long time to come out and we got through our whole meal before getting any ketchup or mustard.

Went for a bachlorette party pre dinner and it was awesome! I got the greek chicken sandwich and I was very impressed with it! I like trying new things so this definitely was worth it. Will be back to check it out with the hubby for dinner sometime! Staff was awesome! They let us take over the music and made us all feel like Queens! Thank you!

One of my Chicago staples. They've got a beautiful bar and plenty of space to sit and dine, if that's what you're looking for. After their renovation it lost it's old school vibes and now feels a bit touristic and cliched. I still come here every time I am in Chicago. Waffle fries are a must! I will say, TV screens in the dining area are not conducive for family time.

The black and blue burger is one of my favorite burgers anywhere! Blackened spices, bleu cheese and about 4 slices of bacon. I forgo the bun so I can eat the whole thing. Nostalgic decor, hard rock music, it's a Chicago classic.

Amazing place, awesome service and I was excited to check it out. You will see so much history from Al Capone, Frank Sinatra and much more. There was history that I never knew about Frank, I love his pensionable music and it helps me relax. I was excited to see this restaurant because there was so much history as I remember. I also got a referral to this place. The thing that pop out to me was the chicken tenders, because they were so big. I was inspecting smaller chicken tenders, but this was amazing! The server was so sweet and nice to us! She was fast. I will definitely come back to this place again for sure!!! Price: $$

My husband & I were in downtown Chicago for an event and decided to stop here for pizza. When we walked in, the Chicago Bears game was playing on multiple TV's throughout the restaurant. The atmosphere was fun, friendly and energetic. I also noticed their sound system sounded great. My husband commented that when he went to the bathroom, you could listen to the game in there too. Our pizza was excellent!! Piping hot and fresh. We received excellent service as well. We will be returning.

We visited Exchequer as part of our Chicago Pizza Tours, tour. It was the meeting place where our the evening kicked off. We were early for our tour so had some great cocktails in the bar to start things off. The service and atmosphere were superb and when our tour began the pizza we sampled was simply fantastic!!! My sister and her husband are coming in from WI for the weekend and we're heading back to Exchequer Saturday night!!!

Visiting the city, a group of 4 were looking for somewhere to eat and came across this place. Two of our party were attracted by the day.s offer of half price ribs. On entering we were welcomed. offered a choice of tables and quickly offered water and or drinks. The waiter advised us of any delay in producing food we ordered and that helped in our selection. The food was brought on a trolley and served to us correctly and was lovely and hot and very tasty. Plates were cleared only after an offer was made and accepted. Overall it was a lovely experience. Unfortunately, a picture of the outisde of the building would not load.

My sister and I stopped by for a quick lunch and drink before going back to our hotel. The environment is wonderful; cozy and dark like a pub should be. We were seated quickly. I had a Exchequer mule, which was very good! We ordered a hummus appetizer, which was delicious and a good amount of food. Came with pita bread, olives, onions, tomatoes and cucumbers. I got the Caesar salad and my sister had the Aegean salad which came with feta cheese and couscous. Both were delicious and the chicken was excellent. Overall we had a great experience. Julie, our server, did a fabulous job and even gave us a 10% discount for being out of towners. Would come back if I lived here!

Stephanie our bartender was super nice. I ordered the bbq burger, I believe it was called the big boy. It was good and cooked medium rare just liked I asked. My girlfriend ordered the patty melt. The food came out quickly (we ordered at 8:30). The patty melt was ridiculously good and so were the waffle fries. We will definitely be back. Also, they have tons of awesome historical photos and newspapers on the walls, and be sure to ask Tom about the machine gun.

This restaurant has been hosting the annual choir party for the Too Hot to Handel Jazz-Gospel Messiah for a few years now, and we're always very happy with the buffet that they have for us. They also accommodate the late arrival of our soloists without a hitch.

The food is very good. The pizza was one of the best I've had in the bustling city of Chicago. I really like the aesthetic of a corner mobster/mafia joint. The staff was really nice. Overall good price for good food.

Not only did our waitress walk past our table multiple times without even saying she will be there shortly, everything came burned. We just wanted some apps while we wait for our train. The cheesy garlic bread was burned and had no cheese. The baked goat cheese was burned and the bread it came with was burned on both sides. I would not come back here. If I wasn't in a rush to catch a train I would have said something. What a waste of my money (and calories).

This place seems to have a cool history to it, definitely enjoyed that bit. Staff is nice and takes their job very seriously. My cocktail and pizza were both well made. There was no live band when I went so I might try and go again.
