The ELGIN BUFFET is where I have eaten twice now. As Engineer already noted this is no longer the International Buffet. Different owner, different people but same place and even same phone number. I have had a good experience both times. The selection of foods has been wonderful. But remember this is a buffet. Don't expect $30.00 meals for 12 bucks. The food has been fresh, and tasty. If you are 60 years or more don't forget to mention that for our senior discount. They also have deals for families, free for kids under 3 and reduced pricing for older kids.

No beef on the bar. Only chicken fish, shell fish, & pork. Hibachi had beef. OK great. Chicken Noodle for the soup. Go Figure. It was between OK & great but what really impressed me was the bathroom. I'm very picky & this bathroom smelled sanitized not like crap. The stainless steel stalls were polished or at least wiped clean. New trash liners told me they just cleaned it but they did a great job.....

I had one plate and it made me feel sick. The place was pretty busy, so I really expected a fresh buffet. At least I hoped it would have been fresh at $12 per person. Unfortunately it was the usual week old slop found in this type of place. They use a lot of 5 spices and Siracha sauce. Not that I have a problem with either of those, but its on too many items. We couldn't tell if the pudding was vanilla, lemon or spoiled. Almond cookies were stale (I thought those had an eternal shelf life). On the bright side, some of the items seemed authentic. Fried shrimp complete with eyeballs, squid & mini octopus. At least it looked interesting. They should get rid of the crazy items and the sub par sushi and drop the price to $8.

I will not be eating here again!....ever! The food was ok but they didnt have a huge selection to choose from. The horrible customer service is why I rated 1 star. The waitress Fiona didnt assist me not one time by taking my plate. All I had was one plate. I was polite and smiled when she rung me up at the counter. I kept looking at her smiling to try to get her attention and she looked right pass me. So I sat there for a while to see if Fiona would come and she didn't. So I sat my plate at the corner to show I was done and she just looked my way again still ignored me. There isn't anything "great" about Elgin Great Buffet. Ugh....this will be my first and last time visiting this place....ever!

Had decent hope for this place but will NEVER go again. I called to ask if they had sushi and lady very rudely yelled "of course we have sushi what do you think"....I let that one go. Upon arrival the lady argued with me about my sons age because he is tall for his age. While walking around getting food both me and my 5 year old were knocked into a worker there while he was walking by...he cared less. Food was terrible...we ended up leaving not long after. To top it off my wife was vomiting when she got home and I am today. Like I said.... never going there again
