This is a very nice and spacious location. I have been a fan of Cocula restaurant since the early 80s and the little location that they had on commercial. Their food is fresh and authentic I have never gotten a bad dish yes I highly recommend this restaurant for authentic Mexican food and the drinks are great too and best of all the price is very good

Nice and chill. Great place to spend time with family and celebrate any occasion. If you enjoy palomas ,ask what brand tequila they use. I ordered one and they make it quite different I should say , or they used a cheap tequila brand

Love the fried red snapper. This IS one of the best gourmet Mexican spots in Chicago. They have a few locations. All are well staffed and we'll kept. And the Margaritas are huge.

Worst margaritas ever. $11 for a margarita with no type alcohol??? We asked our waitress how much they put and she said they are premade but they add a shot. I didn’t even taste the shot. If I’m paying that much for a drink I want to at least taste it. I could’ve ordered a slushee instead.

Wow wow wow!!!! I went in late they still had AMAZING fresh food and quick service. The best part I love their customer service this guy who was cleaning tables was so kind to take my order and bring my food in great timing i just loved his attitude made me want to come back i tipped him and the waitress she was busy but she was equally great service, attentive, and kind! Im super impressed!!

Waiter could have a been a bit more attentive to us. He was to busy watching the soccer game. The food was not bad. However my salad was not a salad because the cook put way to much spicy sauce over the shrimp....that covered my "so-call" salad. I prefer the Cocula on California and 22nd. Better customer service. Also, when we walked into the restaurant we only smelled Fabulous! I like Fabulous...however I don't want to smell while I'm eating.

The tortas de milanesa de res was very good here. The res was sliced then and was cooked nicely. Most other places I've had the meat is very thick and soft, which I do not like. The limonada is a bit too sweet for me but the Agua de Jamaica is good.

How this place is always packed is beyond me. The food served here is a sorry bland excuse for Mexican food, not even the drinks are done to remotely taste like they have an ounce of liqour. Save yourself the disappointment and don't be fooled by the decor and signs, there is nothing "Mexican" about this place.

Update 4/18: I had to update my review based on my experience today. We come in here and eat Parrilladas all the time. Today, we decided to do take out and ordered a parrillada for 4. We spent over $90 !! When I got home with our food, we had a a large tray with only enough arrachera for LITERALLY 2 TACOS !! No costillas at all!! Chicken for maybe 3 tacos and the rest onions and peppers! I NEVER complain. Even when I'm not happy on most occasions, I never call to complain. But this had me so upset. I called to speak directly to a manager and let me tell you about the customer service this man showed me. He not only made it right by making another, full parrillada and threw in chips and salsa , but this man brought it to my house, himself!! Cris deserves an award for customer service. That man made my day and I will continue to be a happy paying customer of this Coculas . Our server made our night! Our reservations got cancelled at a different restarsnt and we were sour to settle for coculas but NO! Julio saved our night. He made us feel like we were so appreciated and our business was welcomed. He is so down to earth and really cared if we were enjoying ourselves. We have a new favorite restaurant! Thank you Julio!!

Pollo seasoned good, but the Waiter was so rude, never introduce himself, was very dull, not welcoming. He came up, was leaning on everything around me, not responding, o giving eye contact while I'm telling him my order, never comes to check if everything is ok, but I see him talking to another waitress. And what are the odds that I've only been there TWICE and each time I got him, and still don't know his name so I named his b*stard behind, "Hector". And "Hector" behaves the same way.

Average on almost everything , the food was average , the taste was meh... the location was meh.... was told there was mariachi but they would come later,,,, never came.... the waiter said we don’t separate tickets , wanted us to seat at different tables , we said ok we will seat separate then they said it was ok... left her a big tip but only for because we were a large group of 11, not for the service or the food.

It wasn't crowded at the time I visited so I was able to get in and be seated quickly. The restaurant was clean and the employees were all attentive and on point with the service. I ordered a strawberry margarita which was refreshing and delicious. My entree was the steak enchiladas and they were really good. The steak was well seasoned and tender. I'll definitely be a return customer.

Nice place to eat at and no wait. The reason why I'm giving it one star is due to the fact of the food portion size. I order a surf and turf plate and when I got my plate the portion of the meat was smaller than a happy meal beef patty. The side dishes are decent portion. The rest of the food was sweet. So overall I'm leaving dissatisfied and going to buy food next door at McDonald's at a cheap price.

The place is great for a caldo de pollo but not for a coctel de camarón. You can tell they use pre-cooked frozen shrimp and not the real /fresh kind. As a result, the texture and taste isn't good for that dish.

Somebody at my table, had hair in food, had to send back. I am always hearing of at least 1 person eating there complaining about hair in their food as well. Bathrooms are always dirty. Never my idea to come here, I usually stick to the drinks, which could also be hit or miss. I just stuck to modelo beer, which was just handed to me in a can, no mug. No plates to eat our chips with, we ate on napkins.

Had the parrillada, it was delicious. They season everything that comes on it very well. Except for the short ribs. They were cold,under cooked and tough. It looked like they had been pre cooked and where just thrown on the grill. Oh and the tortillas were warmed up in the microwave. I was a little disappointed. Friendly staff thou.
