REVIEWS OF Chicago Q IN Illinois

John Cullen

If you're looking for great southern BBQ in the heart of Chicago don't skip Chicago Q. I live in Dallas and would put this up against some of the best in Dallas including Pecan Lodge. Definitely try the Brisket Meatball appetizer and don't skip the Mac N Cheese if that's your thing. All of the BBQ items are top notch, though they are exceptionally smoky.

I frequent this special place every couple of days as I enjoy the ambiance that is characterizes this place. The crew is extremely friendly and well trained. The service is impressively fast. Needless to say, the food you eat is good. I ate there often and I was always delighted. The payment is reasobable. I highly recommend this place to to everybody.

Alexander Clemons

The St. Louis style ribs are awesome and I love the diverse selection of whiskey flights. With all the amazing food, its incredible that two of the highlights are the bbq chips and sweet pickles they bring for the table. I've been here a few times and I'll definitely be back several more.

Dean Rittenhouse

Very comfortable and friendly place. The food is delicious, prepared and presented with finesse. We will certainly return each time we visit Chicago.

Nicholas Fredrick

Always great food. Their burnt ends are dancing in my dreams

Danielle Schoen

Awesome brunch spot - fantastic food and ambience. Even better that there was no wait on a Saturday morning. We ordered the fried green tomato appetizer (delicious) and shared the breakfast Quesadilla. Would recommend the biscuits as well.

Kyle Woodward

Very good food in a cool historic feeling space. We went for brunch, is Google recommend the Benedict flight and the mimosa special is tough to top. Excited to go back for dinner soon.

Tony K

Awesome food but little pricy

Dave Huang

We have been coming here since it opened some years ago. Love the modern southern BBQ pit theme. The owner was in the throw down with Bobby Flay. The food, has always been excellent. It doesn't matter what you order, ribs, chicken, pork, brisket, even the salads and sides. The corn bread is to die for. I forgot the last time I came here before today and I have forgotten the reason why we have not revisited this place as often as we had before. After we sat down to our 630pm reservation, placed our usual order within 5 mins, then 45 mins later I suddenly remembered why we stopped coming here. THE WAIT! Just to be fair, it is one of the first warm Saturdays in Chicago so it was packed with tourists, screaming babies and cubs fans. There are a couple of big parties but nothing we have not seen before in this place. Started about a year ago, the service has been very slow. I recalled the average wait time for a salad was about 20 mins, which we didn't get this time until after the entrees came. The manager did the right thing and took the salad off the check and even offered dessert as a comp, but it was our mistake to take it because we waited another 20 min. In summary if you don't mind the wait and in good company (not hungry ones), this is the best BBQ place in Chi-town.

Angela Whitehead

Very good bbq!

Jonathan Hillebrand

Hosted a dinner for some of my customers. The wings and ribs were awesome. The brisket was missing any signs of bark and while it was tender it had no flavor. The buttermilk mashed potatoes were out of this world and the home fries were excellent as well. They brought our food family style just enough to keep you eating but not so much that it was going to waste.

Anthony Putaro

Food and services were excellent

jamie harris

Great place to stop and grab some lunch. I'm a Carolina boy. So I know my bbq. This was good not the best I've ever had. But good enough for this review.. The service is what made this lunch for me. We had Chris as our server/bartender. This young man was on his game from the time we got there to when we left. I would go back just for the service he gave us. The pickled salad they gave us for a side was almost as good as the house made chips and pickles. Love it and will be back.

Michael Morgen

Great food and service. I highly recommend this place and good for accommodating groups. The pickles and chips are a nice touch too. They come out complimentary when you are seated.

Elaine Barreras

Lovely staff and atmosphere. I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla and was a bit disappointed at the lack of spices and overall flavor. Would definitely visit again to try something else on the menu though!

Grant Ongers

Good food and great dessert.

Patrick O'Connor

Fantastic food! Had "The Flight" with slaw and beans, and it was all so amazing. The sauces were incredible, especially the South Carolina sauce! My only small complaint is the North Carolina sauce is pretty simple and weak. The wait staff were very nice and personable, the outdoor seating is beautiful, and the bourbon selection is very good.

Jamani Williams

Food was alright service was amazing

Rachel Roberts

We really enjoyed our experience here. Love the “at home” vibe and comfortable atmosphere. The hush puppies and remoulade were AMAZING! The meats were all tasty and not dry. If I had to come up with anything negative, it would be that the brisket and burnt ends were pretty fatty. More fat than meat. Otherwise, loved it all. Give it a try for something different in the city.

Kevin Beirne

It's was excellent everything is good cole slaw brisket chicken I mean that I will be going back maybe try the ribs

Ashley Hayden

The food here is delicious. It's pretty pricey, but for good BBQ, I'm not complaining.

The J

The service was WONDERFUL! Our waitress Daisy was phenomenal with her recommendations, and the waitstaff was top notch - on point with refilling our water, removing plates, and providing additional silverware. The food was delicious. - real southern favors and a variety of meal options. Our only concern was the short stature of the table and chairs. We are pretty tall, with long legs - some height would've allowed us a bit of comfort space. Overall, a great experience:)

Barbara Cramer

the assortment of meat and beer was great, the ribs were my favorite part

Francis Z.

Pork ribs are amazing.

Eric White

Awesome drinks and BBQ.

Pato Iturralde

Eggs Benedict is the thing to ask for

Dan Leuthner

This should really be more like 4 1/2 stars. The food is good, love the fresh chips, and the local pickles! The service was a bit off last time, didn't check on the table after we got the food, but the wait person was new, so I should really cut her some slack. Upscale BBQ, with higher end spirits.

Michelle Rock

I'm from the Carolinas so I'm a little bias in that I like the way we do BBQ more than anywhere else. That being said, I thought the pulled pork was mushy and the sauces were bland. The atmosphere, however, was really nice and the prices were reasonable. The wait staff was also very pleasant.

Rob Bohlman

Food was good, service was ok

Earl Clayton

Fine location for tasty BBQ.

Tom Irwin

One of my favorite brunch places in Chicago. The patio is beautiful. The food is delicious. The pickles and chips they bring out are amazing. I take all my visitors here.

Sasha

Chicago Q is a good BBQ place and is trendy for the gold coast area. The food has always been pretty good, but certainly not excellent. The ribs and BBQ have great flavor and the apps, sides and desserts are great. However, I find the BBQ meats to generally be dry as they are only smoked, not boiled first. I know that true BBQ is smoked, but the meat drys out easily when that's the case. I would still recommend the place for a good upscale dining experience, but it is on the pricier side so know that going in.

John Ackerman

Amazing beef brisket and mashed potatoes.

Ruy Filho

Nice food, nice ambiance.

Bill Reed

Amazing service! Great food. All the homemade sweet pickle chips and homemade barbeque potato chips are served to you before your meal. Excellent meat dishes. Not a bad item on the menu.

Harry H

Just okay

Nichole Melvin

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal here. It was absolutely delicious and totally kid friendly!! We even able to purchase a bottle of barbecue sauce after falling in love with it.

John Carrillo

If you want food delivered to you dont order from Chicago q. Slowest delivery in my life. My food arrived 2 hrs after I placed the order. That is so ridiculous. Chicago q doesnt prioritize delivery orders. I'm paying for food not getting it for free. Never ordering from here again.

Elle Zec

I was there today for lunch with a friend of mine. Her son suggested this location. I had the brisket tacos and she had the brisket slices. The food was amazing. The meat was unbelievable. I would come back here anytime for the outside patio, the service (our waiters name was Chris and he was amazing), and food was superb. I am gluten-free and have a host of allergies, and they accommodated me not only beautifully but exceptionally. Thank you, Q.

kim reilly

I have had some good barbecue in my time. This is about average. It was neither bad nor exceptionaly good. I had the macaroni and cheese, which was actually quite good and gooey. The pulled pork was a bit dry as well as the brisket. The whole experience was average. I have nothing to complain about but also nothing to rave about. The staff was very nice and friendly albeit a bit slow. It's worth a try, but for me, it did not leave of an enough impression to come back.

Leslie Gay

Classy barbecue. Great wait staff. Quick service in a beautiful environment. Good was good and plentuful.

Hailey Baker

Outstanding site for delicious bbq. The food was amazing. I've had nothing but enjoyable experiences here and plan to keep visiting. This place has a nice design.

Dalt Brewsher

The staff here are very knowledgeable about the entire menu, including the whiskies. But that's not why you came here. You came for some BBQ. Well...You will NOT be disappointed. My better half is southern in her upbringing. Every time we get a chance to get good BBQ, we are on it. Having said that; She wanted you to know these are the BEST ribs she ever had. I on the other hand did not get to experience my favorite, brisket burnt ends, as they were out. Which is to be expected honestly. Most BBQ places, if you want the brisket or the burnt ends, or the both, you need to be there earlier than later.

Christina Warren

Food was amazing and service was just as good. Two of us had the brisket eggs benedict which was very tasty. My husband had the fried chicken which he said was cooked really well. The staff kept our water and coffee full. Highly recommend.

Jeff Lee

Nice BBQ restaurant in the gold coast. Actually prices were not bad. Nice decor good service and good food. The dessert cake was ginormous! Delicious!

Betty Pruszynska

I don't have much to say because, the waiter took our dinner order and forgot to put it through and we never had dinner, but the Appetizers were great..instead on coming with dinner he came with the check, bad first experience.

Alexandra Orel

We came here for brunch. We got the trio of Benedict’s, all of which were really good, and very filling. We also did the Bloody Mary bar, which had a lot of great topping options (take advantage, because it’s $14). Overall a good brunch option. They have a nice patio outside as well.

rostislav Kislyuk

Great place

Joe Gregorio

Would have been 5 stars but they ran out of pickles that morning. I got the pit. I would have ordered an extra hot link if I knew how good it was.

John Jonas

Great food, very poor service

Nikki Bos

My boyfriend and I found Chicago Q on google while looking for a place to have dinner. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. The staff was so friendly and welcoming from the start. Our waiter, Mario, chatted with us about where we were from and some local places to visit while we were in Chicago. The food was incredible. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with the mac and cheese and my boyfriend ordered the half rack of baby back ribs. Both were amazing. My boyfriend went so far as to say the ribs were the best he had ever had. The dry rub on the ribs was so good they almost didnt need a sauce at all. I would 100% recommend the Chicago Q to anyone visiting Chicago!

Martin Moreno

Great service by Chris. Good drinks and decent live music.

S. Landsman

Excellent BBQ all the way around. Good pork and brisket, full of flavor yet nice and tender. I love the vinegar-based sauce, although the spicy sauce is good, too. Ribs are good, but aren't up to the same level.

Mark Peters

Excellent BBQ. Good ambience. Decent drink selection.

Blake Clifton

One of my favorite BBQ joints in Chicago. You can get some awesome ST. Louis baby back ribs! Do it! You won't be disappointed. They have a great selection of Whiskey, Scotches and Bourbons.

Precisepix Photography

With out a doubt, the best ribs in USA! Smoked and falling off the bone. Absolutely delicious! I went for the competition style ribs.

Christina Backus

The vibe of this restaurant is awesome! All of the wait staff are very accommodating and are super helpful in answering any questions you may have about the menu. They have a brunch special for champagne/mimosas which is was really great for a group. The food was so good. They bring out freshly in-house made chips and pickles which were both great. The menu is very simple, so you don't have to feel overwhelmed by too many options.

Awab Alothaim

Super delicious. Plenty of food for one dish and mouthwatering

Mark Bautista

A great experience, definitely come here for great BBQ when you're in the area.

Ross Wirth

Sat in the dining room. Took forever to get drinks when we ordered them. The food was ok. Fried alligator was pretty good. Fried Green tomatoes were pretty greasy and cold. The BBQ was where things fell down, we had baby back ribs, chicken and pulled pork. The chicken and ribs were really dry, pulled pork was OK. The Fried Chicken was the best entree we had. Would not recommend, there are other better (And cheaper) BBQ places in the city.

Jenni Sullivan

I can honestly say this is the first time a waiter has ever come up to the table and asked me if I'm alright because I look like I'm going to be sick ... that's how full I was, because I couldn't stop eating the delicious food! My hubby & I were in town for the weekend & tried this spot based on a recommendation from a friend & man, we were not disappointed! We both ended up getting baby back ribs (our waiter said they were his favorite thing on the menu) and we both opted to swap out / upgrade our sides: mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes. Everything was so delicious that I wished I was a cow with extra stomach's so I had room to house it all. On top of the delicious food, the atmosphere was fun and energetic, but with romantic lighting so it was a perfect date night spot for us! To top it all off, the cherry on the sundae if you will, our waiter / the service was exceptional - which goes a very long way in my book! I'd definitely go back again, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great dinner spot in Chicago! Helpful hint: definitely make reservations.

Greg McDonald

Food is amazing as is the service. Have had the eggs benedict flight with a variety of smoked meats. Also had the French toast which was equally good. Highly recommended location for brunch.

tommy coons

Try the beni's they are heaven

Nick Buschiazzo

Fantastic attention. Very good food.

Jack Alvarez

Food was delicious! Highly recommend the shrimp and grits! Taylor, our server was delightful! The chocolate cake was humongous, but good! Good food, good service, good atmosphere.

Chad Kowalewski

Nice little date spot in Gold Coast area. The barbeque is good but what makes it great is all the sauces they bring out with the meal. They also have a good bloody bar for brunch on the weekends.

Mark Reeson

Good food, forgetful waiter, moderately high prices.

John Anwaya

Came here for Chicago Restaurant Week but didn't like their prefix menu. So I had the brisket Benedict and fried alligator. For someone who doesn't try anything outside of steaks, burgers and chicken, the alligator was pretty damn good. Also their spicy BBQ sauce was awesome.

Ryan Sullivan

This place is really pretty. I was surprised walking in how much it looks like a southern plantation, with the white walls, open space, and large grand staircase. I visited for a wedding rehearsal dinner, so we had a large group seated upstairs. There is a coat check when entering, next door to small, one-person restrooms. The service was great and the food was delicious. We had an open bar and the bartender was quick and friendly. We had a few courses of food, the best of which I found to be the ribs, which were tender and cooked right. I can't speak to the price, and thus the value of this restaurant, but I thought it was a nice, upscale version of a BBQ joint which might be good for a date or other special occasion.

Nicholas St.Lawrence

Fancy barbecue. Not what I was expecting, food was pretty good but there are better places to eat barbecue.

Chad Geary

Loved this place. Visited Chicago from the Carolina's and had some of the better q I have ever had..... And don't forget dessert. Service was awesome.

Carlton McGee Jr

Food was good but it took forever to get the food.

Amanda Caldwell

Incredible HH with plenty of boozy cocktails and apps to choose from. Non HH LOVE the pulled chicken sandwich. You get tons of sauce option and massive portions (plenty to take home)! Nice to find a place in the Midwest to eat Gator Bites at too!

Jesus Cital

The brisket was old and dry. It was smoked but old. The ribs were smoked for a short time and then oven baked. The beans were straight out of the can. Being from Texas, I have him standards. This place has a lot to learn. The best part was the dessert and drinks.

GermanGirl Trish

Very nice ambience & staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was very good, seasoned well & freshly prepared. Will definitely return!

S T

Really good BBQ for Chicago. Make sure you go hungry because they serve huge portions. Wife and I could have shared!

Da NForceR

Great food, the wait was a bit long though after we ordered(1hr)! But overall, excellent waitstaff and a cozy spot to eat at!

Monica Matthews

Service, atmosphere and food are all great. I would've given it 5 stars but I've had better ribs.

Vincent Welch Jr

A good place with a good selection of bourbon. The brisket is good. You can skip the pulled chicken.

Lisa Olsen

I was horrified to see how the hostess treated six American Soldiers in this restaurant, they asked politely for separate checks, but the hostess said we don’t do that here. Then they waited for a long period of time for their checks only to get overcharged, then as they walked out, the hostess said please don’t come back, and she knew they were our defenders of our Country. I hope the chef finds a different restaurant to work for because the great food is the wealth of this place and the service has a negative karma.

Brian Smith

The best bar b q in town, and that’s coming from a real Texan.

AS Ford

Excellent food!! Really enjoyed!!!

Grant Reed

Some of the best BBQ I've had. They have an extensive selection of whiskey as well. Has a family friendly atmosphere.

Joshie Nygaard

A delightful meal with an equally delightful atmosphere. The wait staff was incredibly attentive, constantly refilling the delicious chips and house made pickles, refilling waters, and answering all of our questions. The bbq meat was cooked nigh to perfection. I will definitely be returning.

Samuel Waggoner

Went for breakfast at ChicagoQ and had the Eggs Benedict with Pork, this was very tasty and filling. We enjoyed that so much that we came back the following day for Dinner. I had Spare ribs and Pulled Chicken, my partner had pulled pork. This was very good and again filling, did not manage to eat it all. Also enjoyed the cocktails. Will visit again when next in Chicago.

Michael Wojnar

Ribs were by far the best I have EVER had

Ethan Cohen

All the food was well prepared (and the cocktails too), the portions were generous, and the staff friendly and helpful. When contemplating dessert we were warned that the portions were beyond generous, and four of us were able to contentedly share one huge, dense, delicious slice of chocolate cake.

Olivier Manhattan

Generous brunch. They have a juicy brisket. I really enjoyed their bread and butter pickles too. The chicken and waffle was delicious. Big space compartmented into different rooms and floors. Nice atmosphere, efficient and smiling service.

Arthur Matlosz

Terrible experience food was bland and cold and my waiter was rude. The location is amazing but sad its run this way

Kathy Marshalls

If you're looking for the best Barbecue in town, try to visit this place and you will not regret it. Their foods are really good I wonder who their chef is. The Barbecues taste really different from the usual Barbecue we often eat in different restaurants which makes this restaurant very special for me, yes, I have been here for a million times and never get bored with their food.

Sharon Varnes

Great food and atmoshere.

Marly Ruiz

Fantastic food!! Plenty of food for one dish, you gotta love that! Love their sweet pickles and fresh potatoe chips. Great service and atmosphere. Also love going there during summer time. Enjoy :) Update, ordered to go full slab baby back ribs, brisket, and some side dishes on a Saturday night and it was delicious!! no delays. It actually worked out better than dining at the restaurant. We were too hungry and craving some smoked meats!

Jen McMillin

Great service and even better food. House made pickles and chips are excellent.

Eric Richter

Really cool little place. The BBQ here is really good not to mention the sides are great as well.

Gloria Ardon

Dinner was divine great service manager was very attentive nice and professional

Nicole Nelson

BBQ, very delicious. Service is always prompt even when they have a full house.

Elena Kamis

Good food but there was a long wait for food even with a mostly empty restaurant. In addition one of the members of our party attempted to order a fatter piece of meat but was told they don’t do that which is very strange for a barbecue place. Probably wouldn’t go back.

Freda Perlman

Great atmosphere, great food!

Rick Deckard

Overpriced. The meat was very dry, I had the st. Louis style ribs and the flight. If you have been to other BBQ places in Chicago, like smoque, you'll be disappointed.

mona moore

WOW!! The food we had was Wonderful! Shrimp/grits, Fried Checken, Q2 flight with sides! OMG!! So good! The staff was great too! Martini and Old Fashioned great! A definate stopping point. You won't regret it. We're coming back for Brunch! Yum!

Roberto Fernandez

The best BBQ hands down. Get the fried alligator, you won't be sorry!

Marjulia Freeney

This place surprised me. It's a great hidden gem for great barbeque. The chicken and St Louis style ribs are really good and they come with a variety of sauces!

впытв ваыивфа

This was terrible , burger it don’t have of taste , my friend’s chicken was not cooked

Tyler Petrus

This may not be the most reliable review because I was only here for a rehearsal dinner. I paid for nothing and I had a good selection of different foods. Everything was incredibly deliciously however and the place is lovely.

Krystal Pernell-Little

My family and I had dinner here on Christmas Eve. We were extremely disappointed for a number of reasons: 1) Our waitress interacted with us a total of three times, to seat us, take drink orders and bring the bill. She focused all of her attention on one table which seemed to be her friends 2) The food was extremely bland. The fried green tomatoes had no seasoning. The burger was okay and the pulled chicken and pork lacked flavor as well 3) when dinner was served which included 4 bbq sauces which no one cares to explain. After 5 mins of waving for the waitress she came over to explain. 4) there was a table of extremely loud and intoxicated individuals which was annoying to not only our table but the elder couple sitting next to them. My husband mentioned that but of course nothing was done. Overall, the customer service was awful and the food was subpar. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Mason Newark

A little disappointed with the service but food was great would visit again

Sonjanita Moore

Nice place. Decent brunch- the food my friends ordered was really good (Kale omelet - no longer on menu but you can ask for it- our watiter didn't want to but eventually did. Brisket...anything with brisket was divine), but the pancakes were blah & eggs tasted like everything that had ever been cooked on the grill. Ask for the mimosa special which isn't on the menu. I didn't like the fact that the waiter seemed to be rushing us although there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant (asking if we wanted boxes before we finished eating/drinking, lingering around the booth until we put our credit cards in the folio).

Paul Zucker

Not the best bbq in town but a good option in perhaps the nicest atmosphere you'll find for a bbq joint! Love those complimentary pickles and chips.

Teiyuri Aoshima

By far the best Mac and cheese with pulled pork I’ve had. I’m from Seattle and although I’ve found some pretty good places for BBQ, none of them compare to this place in Chicago. The Mac and cheese was so smooth and creamy and came with a generous serving of pulled pork. Plus the prices were amazing compared to some of the other places I’ve been and the service was incredible. I also got the brisket ends which were also super good. Oh and make sure you try the honey cornbread if you like cornbread. It was soooooo good!

Dwain B

Very good barbecue and good service.

Jonathan Wilder

Great food, excellent service..

Camren Isaac

This place has amazing BBQ - but the proportions are huge so plan accordingly. The service, the food and the entire atmosphere is great. We did a variety of appetizers because they all looked good. The barbecue is good. Amazing place

Darryl Diamond

I was a little skeptical going in (even with the great reviews here). The place doesn't look like it should be a good bbq stop. Or at least it looks too fancy to be a good stop. Boy, was I surprised! Erik at the bar took care of me and did not lead me wrong with a half slab of St. Louis ribs and smoked brisket. Both meats were smoked perfectly (nice smoke ring, good color, flavor and plenty of moisture. He did bring over a plate of sauces, but they weren't necessary. I did try them on small bites but frankly the flavor of the meat was perfect as is. If you like Bourbon, you will thoroughly enjoy the selection here. I had several glasses and each was better than the previous. I left very full and very satisfied. I'll be back the next time I'm in town.

Jorie Watson

Not as delicious as I'd hoped.

Jim Behrendt

Great food and service

Ronda Hess

This is the best bbq joint In the bay. All meats and sides are good, but the stars are undoubtedly the brisket and ribs. This place should really have a seating area.

Arliss Veldhuizen

Absolutely scrumptious food and the staff is so respectful and attentive. You also get a generous complementary serving of housemade bread and butter pickles and BBQ chips -- don't get too full on those!

Drew DeSantis

Horrible delivery. Had to cancel the order after being 30 mins late and still not on the way.

Matt Soro

Honest review right here. Cool little place, good atmosphere, nice patio seating. The food; decent food. I would go here again. I got there three meat platter for dinner. I got the St Louis ribs which were fantastic and fall off the bone. I also got the brisket and pork sausage. The brisket was mediocre because there was very little moisture in it and also was reheated instead of fresh. When I flipped over the brisket piece it was seared on the bottom, which is a No-No in the barbecue world. On the other hand, the sausage was fantastic! I would definitely get the ribs and sausage again, but definitely not the brisket. I also got the savory cornbread. It was very dry and not much flavor. Definitely wouldn't get it again. I hope this helps, enjoy!

Devante Yancey

Amazing service and great food I truly recommend it

Jimena Alvarez Soto

The little patio outside is great and comfortable. Great place for brunch. The lighting in the inside is more dim. Great service

Rachel Hunter

Great service and delicious food! The complementary chips and pickles are tasty, and my husband and I were happy with everything we ordered. I had the mac and cheese, which I loved. I did, however, order it without the alligator so I can’t give my opinion about that part of the dish. My husband got the flight and liked all the meats. This place also has delicious homemade barbecue sauces! Overall a great restaurant and I’ll definitely be going back again soon.

Jesmarie Orellana

Great place to eat and drink. Polite staff. The cake slices are so big and so good. Lots of thanks to the chef.

Adam Khamsot

My absolute favorite BBQ place in the city. Whether I'm dining in or doing take out. The food here is always excellent & the service is second to none.

Zoe Price

I had the baby back ribs my hubby had the pulled chicken so good. We went with another couple and we all had a great time the wait staff was awesome. Can't wait to go for brunch

Ishwari Kandel

One of the best place in Chicago for the ppls who loves smoked foods.. good hospitality :)

Irina Dolinskaya

Not a great place for a vegetarian - the blackened fish dish was good. But the rest of my party greatly enjoyed the ribs.

felix namts

Not only one of the best BBQ I ever had but one of the best restaurants

Christina Curley

We went here at 10am on the St Patrick’s Day parade Saturday for brunch. It was a great start to our day and it gave us the fuel we needed to seize the day! Whoever had the aux was doing an impeccable job! Every song you want to hear while drinking mimosas with your friends and family, they played. From Stevie Wonder to Big Mountain, they played it all. Chairs were comfortable and the service was amazing. I wish I got his name, he was very funny and was prompt in refilling our flutes. The biggest takeaway is the chips and pickles they start you off with. Hands down best pickles I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of pickles! And the BBQ chips were smothered in the best seasoning you could imagine. Chips and pickles should be the new bread and butter when you go out to eat. Other places have a lot to learn from Chicago Q! Now, as for the food, there’s not much else to say other than, “wow.” Everyone I was with was beyond satisfied. Our only complaint is that we weren’t able to take our leftovers because we didn’t want to carry them around all day. I would suggest the eggs benny flight. With it you try pulled chicken with corn bread, brisket with cheddar biscuit, and pulled pork over a fried green egg. Again, just wow. Atmosphere was cute and cozy, Bloody Mary bar looked insanely good. The bathroom was nice, it had nice hand soap and a Dyson airblade. Toilet paper was great. I understand there are a lot of places to choose from in Chicago, but I would say to choose this one.

Rebecca Huang

The rib tasted so good, and I will definitely come again for it.

Jackson Salzman

Warm atmosphere, amazing brunch specials, and a great pulled pork eggs Benedict. Got there at 11am on a Saturday and plenty of seating available.

Brittany Allen

Came for brunch on a Sunday. Excellent staff, very friendly and attentive. Tasty bbq chips and pickles as soon as you sit down. Absolutely delicious food and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend the benedict flight and the hush puppies appetizer!

Chicago Q was good too, albeit the service was particularly slow. The waiter recommended the buttermilk chicken but warned us against it because of the longer wait time because the restaurant was changing over from brunch to dinner and starting a fresh new batch. We were under a bit of a time crunch since one of my friends had to leave for her flight right after so we ordered other items on the menu instead, hoping that it wouldn't take that long but I think we ended up waiting 30-40 minutes anyway for our food to come out. At that rate, I should've ordered their signature buttermilk chicken anyway. I felt bad because the waiter was upset too. I watched him walk back to the kitchen several times and yell at them because our food took so long and then on top of that, they had forgotten some of our sides so he had to further berate them. Their kitchen is slightly open with a window for us to view part of it so I could see the interactions between the wait staff and chefs. There were so many people back there so it didn't really make any sense for our food to take so long when the restaurant wasn't even that busy. I also wanted to sit outside too in their cafe style seating because it was so pretty but they didn't have enough seats available for our party. We ended up inside the restaurant right next to the kitchen so I could see everything coming in and out. Despite the service, I would recommend this as a stop, so long as you're not in a rush, because the restaurant itself is really nice, with all its rooms as well as outdoor seating. The food is good and the place is very clean; even the bathroom is nicely maintained.

Food was great, service was great. A mist visit if your downtown.

Absolutely phenomenal bbq. The brisket quesadilla is one of my favorite dishes of all time! But honestly what keeps us coming back over and over and over again is the homemade bbq chips and pickles that they serve before the meal. We lived for two years about a block away and went almost once a month. Now we go back every time we visit Chicago!

The meat was tender and soft. The mashed potatoes tasted delicious when I put them in my mouth. I very much appreciated the pickles and BBQ chips before the meal. And the restaurant wasn't outrageously priced! The bill was like $60 with 2 drinks for two people, but the food itself was very substantial and very delicious for what it cost.

Very impressed. Great BBQ and fried chicken. Pretty outstanding whiskey/bourbon and wine selection as well.

Because Chicago Q is a little more upscale and a bit more pricey than the average BBQ place, I don't often go there despite how close it is to home, but it's always surprisingly good. They must advertise outside the city because most of the patrons seem to drive in from the suburbs and are either older or on dates. I know few city people who have been there, but they're missing out on some of the best mac & cheese topped with a nice portion of BBQ'd meat of your choosing. I prefer the sliced, pulled, or chopped meats over ribs. The front bar is more casual, while the dining room is quiet and reminds me more of a steakhouse in both service and ambiance. Sides here are great with all the extra touches when it comes to housemate condiments. The front patio is pretty and strangely comfortable considering you're sitting on a sidewalk around the corner from Division Street's low-brow bars. The problem here is both valet and patio take up way too much sidewalk, so people waiting for cars and passersby are crowded and hovering around the patio. Service has always been friendly and attentive.

I was introduced to this establishment by a great friend and I love the food n atmosphere however the two times I've been here my party was not treated the way we should of been served servers were nasty and seem to have an attitude other color persuasion were treated with the utmost respect and cheerfulness!! Just so you know all of our money is green and spends the same way and I know for sure itll be a while before I come back or recommend this place!! I'm in the service dept and what I come to learn never judge or assume anything about people!!

New happy hour menu is legit!

Nick Cardoza

Not the best bbq ive had. The Carolina got sauce was the best part about this meal.

Manuel Silva

Delicious food, we had another idea of the bbq concept but this place stablished a new standard. The size of the portions, the flavor everything great. The waitress talked us in Spanish (thanks for it) and all the recommendations tasted great

Great evening on my Birthday. Friendly staff, good service and fantastic food. What more could you ask for. Complimentary pickles, Hush Puppies and Fried Chicken. Even got given cake to take with me when they found out it was my birthday. Fab! Going back again before I leave.

Katherine Groboski

Loved the menu choices and we were totally entertained being our first time there by a person that I assume was the co-owner.

Christopher Bennett

Pretty good BBQ. A bit pricey but the place is nice as long as you sit back in the main dining room. Great old fashioneds.

Food was very good, as usual, but service tonight, May 9, 2019 @ 6 pm was very strange. We were seated in the bar dining area by the fireplace. We had one guy bring water, another bring pickles and chips, and finally a young woman took our order. She did not bring the food, nor did she or anyone else check back. Finally had to flag someone down for salt and pepper. He quickly brought them over, but mentioned that the pepper grinder was almost empty. It was. Why would a server think that was a good thing to do... You get the gist...oh, and by the way, what used to be outstanding ribs, are not longer served on weekdays. What???

Alan Singletary

Food was delicious!! Service was great and we loved the atmosphere! Prices were totally acceptable. Lots of bourbon and whiskey choices. A must try for sure! We will be back soon!

Janusz Adamiak

The burger was good but made a mistake of ordering baked beans. The beans were more like baked beans soup. The beans were swimming in BBQ sauce. And theydud not taste good. So avoid the baked beans as side dish!

Only good stuff was the mashed potatoes ..your paying for the place..and they rush you out

We came here for the first time on restaurant week. We were afraid portions were going to be smaller for the prix fixe event but we were very pleasantly surprised! At $24/person, this experience was totally worth it! We fell in love with all the dishes, from the complimentary home made BBQ chips and sweet pickle to the hush puppies appetizer (served with sweet spicy mayo) to the pulled pork and chicken benedict entrees. The meal was so rich and hearty that we had to pack our carrot cakes for home! Because of their unique southern influence, we wanted to try their macaroni and cheese with fried gator which we got to go as well! Service was great and we plan on coming back!

Miranda MacFarlane

The food was delicious and the service was very prompt.

Amazing summer time spot with the most pleasant patio! I had the pulled pork Benedict with potato hash on fried pickles, which was absolutely delicious. It could easily be split with 2 people! Complimentary homemade pickles and bbq chips round out the meal and the staff is extremely attentive. 10/10 would highly recommend!

Overall, this place is delicious, feels like you're sitting at home, but it is definitely very expensive for a regular person. But to me, it's worth it for a very special night out. Their ribs are delicious, so are their sides. When I went they had this bacon starter where you could try thick cut bacon, so mouthwatering! I'd definitely come back to take someone out for a special dinner. If you like BBQ, you've gotta try this place at some point.

Robin LaSota

The service was really quick late night. The ambiance was welcoming. The pulled chicken and beef brisket were delicious! The pulled pork was fatty by comparison. I had a very good experience as an business traveler!
