Wonderful restaurant with assorted american cuisine. They have a great selection of dishes which are hearty and at a fair price. Service typically appears to be understaffed in general and has been a struggle on both sides. Overall experience is pretty worthwhile.

Honest people - I unintentionally dropped my wallet while getting up from the table at Blackies and walked a mile to another meeting - not realizing I had no wallet. When the meeting ended I checked my phone and I had emails and voice mails from Blackies stating that they had my phone locked in a safe awaiting my return. They are honest folks and the food was great!!

Seemed to be a fun place, nice outdoor seating. I ordered a Caesar salad to go, the Caesar dressing was almost sweet (too mayonnaise-y) and the steak that came with it smelled... musty? I was too afraid to continue eating it. It's really hard to f up a Caesar salad but i guess it can be done.

Bar seats were all full at 4pm so group of 4 of us were forced to sit at a table. Dining area was pretty empty but Service was pretty slow...15 minutes to get 4 drinks

An excellent place for a husiness punch. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. They are quite quick with getting the food to the table during a lunch rush. They managed to seat all 6 of us quickly and both the hostess and the waitress were very nice. All in all, a great place for American bar food.

Have only been there once, so I may adjust my review - good food, fast service, however, while standing outside wanting an outside table I was ignored, and a party that came after me were seated first. Then my party was told there was no outdoor seating available, even though there were quite a few empty tables. We sat indoors, and our waitress was very nice. Would have liked to have sit outside though.

One of the last remaining locations of a once great Chicagoland chain of fast-gourmet burger joints. Some things have changed, like the famous "Carson's Cole slaw", but for the most part the menu and quality had stayed the same.

It was alright food and service. We got the buffalo chicken egg rolls, Brie burger and the street tacos. Also got the spicy fries. The food was priced according to what you got. The food was just, mehhh. Service was just ok too, nothing special.

Came for dinner and food all seemed like it had been prepared at lunch. The mac and cheese was burned and not creamy, the bread was hard and stale. Brisket meat was good. Might be a good lunch spot.

Fabulous food!!!!!!!!!! One of the best Italian restaurants I've been too. I only wish the service was as good. Our server was nice enough. He wasn't the friendliest though. There was a woman server who was just not very pleasant though. If you hate your job then you might not want to stick around. It shows. I did give 3 stars because the food is amazing.

I like Blackies more than the other happy hour places in the same area. Specifically, Blackies is great for drinks w people after work, and has pretty solid food options as well. Further, compared to the other happy hour venues in the area, the prices cannot be beaten, and there is generally a non-pretentious feel to the place. I would fully recommend trying blackies at some point.

Good place for a working lunch, though it can get loud and gets busy quick. If you can, make a reservation, especially if you have more than 2 people in your party. Fine array of all the bar food you could think of, including a very nice turkey burger which has been my favorite. The spicy fries are yummy and not much more than "zippy" really. Service gets the job done and can get you out pretty quick if needed, though they haven't impressed me otherwise. Solid place, definitely worth a shot, at the least for the delicious menu options.

Burgers & more burgers. They have a good turkey burger, bison, and of course ground beef with all the trimmings. Beer & drink selection is pretty standard. But you're there for the burgers anyway

Clearly from the reviews of this place. The place is slowly going downhill. I tried to have a first good experience here. Turns out I won't ever have one because the restaurant states it's hours of operation are open until 10pm. The restaurant closed on us at 8pm yesterday. As we tried to gain entry into the restaurant, the place was closed at 8. If you have hours of operation, you follow the hours of operation, or don't post them at all. It's highly embarrassing for a restaurant to state something and not commit or follow. It's a total disrespect for any customer that wants to try and attempt or experience your restaurant. As an owner of an establishment. You should probably be ashamed and sell your store if you can't property run a business.

Pretty standard spot for drinks. The outdoor patio is cool but happy hour Thursday and Friday (and even some Wed) can be so overcrowded that the wait staff is (understandably) overwhelmed. Drink prices are in line with many of the over priced stuff in the area too.

Called in a takeout order at 8:40pm. Guy answers the phone and asks what I want. I tell him. He says “no don’t order that. It sucks.” Then a woman picks up and tells me that they are closed early and that the man who answered the phone was a customer. I’ll leave out any further personal opinion on the matter as it is, at this point, irrelevant.

Food was OK at best. Owners/staff do not like foreigners/people of color tho. Our company outing spent over $1,000 one lunch to show appreciation to our field workers (mostly Hispanics/African). One of them was smashed over the head with a glass bottle when he went to the rest room inside. We were told to get lost bc the one who did it was a regular there. Never went back and neither has anyone in my company.

Being from Wisconsin, it seemed risky to order cheese curds and fish-and-chips. I'm glad I did! The curds were crispy, tender, and perfectly paired with ranch dressing, and marinara sauce. They showed up in a little fryer basket with enough curds for the whole table and then some. The fish was crispy on the outside, was tender and flaky, and delicious. The portions were huge - 3 filets and a mountain of fries. The server thankfully asked if I wanted chips or fries, as "chips" meant potato chips, not British "chips" meaning fries. I got the feeling this has caused confusion/upset customers in the past. Half of it came home with me for another meal and reheated wonderfully in the oven.

I'll admit the timing of my visit couldn't have been better. Arrived just before 11:00am in a gorgeous day and was seated immediately in the best part of the patio. Service was just starting up and the wait staff was fresh before the lunch rush. I ordered the Ribeye entree (because steak) and a Caesar salad. The food came in an expected amount of time and was cooked to order. The salad had decent mixed greens and was fresh. The steak had a crust on it, but wasn't overdone; it was flavorful (especially the crispy bits) but not overly seasoned. The price was reasonable, and felt right for the quality of food and service I received. I'll definitely be going back!

I really liked the food here. The onion rings are amazing and so was my philly cheese steak sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were some of best I have tasted. My friends and I sat outside and the service was good.

Boston Blackies is a great place to go for lunch or happy hour. It's super cozy and they have a huge outdoor patio for when the weather is nice. The food is pretty good, the service has always been great, and obviously you can hang out all night and get your drink on... I'm pretty sure they encourage this. Definitely try their sweet potato fries... some of the best in town.

This place has 4$ drink specials everyday and no one can beat those prices in the loop.Their selection of food is also extensive. A lot of professionals from the loop come here on weekly basis, even people from my office and all of them love this place..The place is very clean, the staff is friendly and the service is quick. Usually people come here in large groups, and you can always somehow find place to sit a group of 10 people.

If it is a burger you want, then this is the place to go to in Chicago's busy business district. Across the street from the Union Train Station, Boston Blackie's is a conveniently located spot within walking distance of most business locations. Not only do they server a perfectly prepared patty but their homestyle fries (i.e. chips) make a fantastic side dish.

Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! We had a corporate Happy Hour there - it was fabulous from the time of the first email/phone call to the last sip of beer... Adam took superb care of all my needy needs and requests for followed up promptly and courteous. We arrived to a beautifully arranged "private area" where we had space to wander about, drink & mingle and still had ample space for a double sided buffet. Which brings me to - yum - the food!! Excellent. Plentiful. The chicken fingers are very good and the jalapeno poppers are to die for! Everyone was raving. But my favorite aspect was the service. We had two dedicated wait personnel who were exceedingly friendly, fast and very alert. I never spend two minutes without a drink in my hand! They were superb!!! Boston Blackie's is THE best spot for a nice Happy Hour. There outdoor space is great and so conveniently located. We were all very happy! Thank you.

Why is the chicken salad on the Cancun Chicken Salad Sandwich lunch special watery? So watery the bread is mushy. Disgusting. I only go here because of people from work want to go. The last handful of meals were equally disgusting. No more for me. If the people want to continue to pay high prices for subpar food they can do it with out me. Bad food, bad service, bad prices - you have a finite number of meals in your lifetime, don’t waste any of them at Boston Blackie’s.

Good place to sit outside for lunch during the day. Great burgers and always love the hot dog bites. If you live close, it's a great place to walk and sit by the river. If not, and you work close it's a must dine. Just a bit hard to park during the day being in the loop.

Overall, this is a decent Loop happy hour option.The food is OK and the beer list is basic. This spot has a wood-panelled, old school vibe. They also have a big patio for nice days, and plenty of space inside to grab an after work drink. Service can be slow, but it's usually friendly.

The fries were undercooked and the service was on the slow side. The oddest thing that happened was when I asked for a fuzzy navel cocktail and our waiter replied with, "we don't have that." What?!? He then said that if I could tell him what was in it, they would make it. Then you DO "have it!" Weird. In the end, our tab for two was reasonably priced.
