Stopped in for breakfast. The omelette, hash browns, toast, and coffee were excellent. The staff is friendly and quick to refill your coffee cup. We will definitely return for another visit.

Derick Steinard

Amazing food and even more amazing staff! Janet was so helpful and generous. Would recommend to anyone who is visiting Chicago!

Brandy Bell

Great brunch options. Good and quick service. Great location. Will def be back.

Thomas Lin

A hidden gem! Great food, beer, wine. Excellent service.

Bryan Nagy

Good food, just a bit overpriced. Does have a local feel to it which I like a lot.

Leon Corriea

A nice quiet place hidden inside an art deco building.

Tadziu S.

Very comfy atmosphere

Robert Guerra

Phenomenal. The place has the best of both worlds... true neighborhood charm with understated elegance. The food is at its core a sophisticated take on classic fare. You can't go wrong with anything on this menu. Do yourself a favor and stop in and stay a bit. Truly the kind of experience you should savor.

Craig Heth

Service was excellent, food was very good and fast, great experience

Yenchu Liu

On the last day of Chicago, we came here for breakfast, delicious meals, friendly staff, and let us have the best memories of Chicago.

AJ Severin

Chicago is my favorite vacation spot, we always go to the Air and Water Show and we always eat at 3rd Coast several times per trip. Owner is a delight, servers are sweet, and the chef is incredible. I've never had a bad meal and I've don't think eaten the same meal twice. The staff suggestions have always been spot on. I've come with a nursing infant, alone, date night with my husband, brunch & dinners with friends, & toddler-in-tow. Very flexible environment with healthy and kid-friendly options as well as comfort food and treats (Key lime pie is the BEST!!). Priced incredibly for the neighborhood. Follow the Facebook page for daily specials. This past summer we rented a studio apartment above the cafe for our vacation and can't say enough about it. Lovely neighborhood park, quaint market and L train stop all within 2 blocks' radius. Can't wait to go back.

Char Harr

Really enjoyed this place. Cool setting, nice restaurant and great diner dood

Karen Magnuson Rogulja

Quiet, cozy, good food. Edited: Shouldn't have a seat yourself sign if you aren't allowed to seat yourself. Forgot the chicken on my salad and offered no comp at all.

Todd XoX

Excellence local cafe with great breakfast and lunch food. Had the coffee with the breakfast sandwich. Great atmosphere excellent service. Wine bar in the evening. I would recommend this to anyone within walking distance. I will definitely be coming back.

Rachel Fallert

A go-to for the locals. Love their breakfast!

Debra Kenny

We've had breakfast there and it was really good. But last week we had dinner there and was even better. Nice variety on the menu. Service was a five star too.

Chad Perry

Great food. Always busy but I get a table right away every time I go.

Judith Tribbett

Consistently good food. Excellent service. Comfortable

Rafat Mohammad

Great food.

Alexis Marquez

The food is really good, but the servers... Ehhhh not that good.

MARISA ALCAT

Incredible breakfast anda wonderful service. And all for good price

Lillian Li

Had an amazing lamb chop! Like the atmosphere as well

David Brottman

Great meal...great service...lamb chops were outstanding

Jon Hall

Great food with a comfortable, neighborhood feel. Terrific sandwiches. Very reasonably priced only a short walk from the very busy, more expensive State and Rush area.

Tadd F. Good

Excellent. Original. Cozy. Great neighborhood. Excellent prices. Nice wine selection. Not easy parking however. But worth it.

Clayton Mason

Great eggs Benedict and beer. Great staff. Great stop on a laid back Sunday.

Francis Z.

Their scones are amazing. Definitely come for brunch here.

Matthew Mason

Brunch was excellent. Our table ordered, among other things, the Eggs Benedict, Scrambled Eggs, the Betty Bene, and a side of bacon. Every plate was cleared at the end of the meal.

Kai Colucci

Really hidden away- unless you’re looking for it you likely wouldn’t find it. Known for their scones but the hash browns are a must have. Rest of the menu was average but definitely of quality. Pulled pork hash was great but english muffin came out cold. Nothing major but perhaps lacking in expediting. 8/10

Cristian Suarez

Relaxed- good food - this place has character. Service was excellent.

Laurie Overton

Five minute walk from the Ambassador. Perfect for breakfast, brunch and wine or coffee. Absolutely charming joint. Large, fresh portions and they serve polish sausage as well!

Jonathan Nassar

I'd call this restaurant 'useful'. We came here for a couple of meals, and the food ranged from decent to good - but the wide selection here was useful to my family for providing something for everyone. We came one day for a late light lunch. We came another day for an early breakfast - I enjoyed my stuffed french toast while my wife got a more lunch-y sandwich and fries. The location is at the ground level of an apartment complex (a couple steps made it slightly complicated but not too bad with a stroller). It feels quiet and tucked away from what might otherwise be considered a busy part of town.

Adam Schlain

Wonderful Service and the food was outstanding aswell. Greek Salad was a 5*. steak fajitas 4.5*. quesadilla was above average. will definitely return! Great value for the money!

Jose Hernandez

Great service! Cozy place and great option for healthy eating.

Kathy Walters

Love this little cafe! Great service and great food. This was a good find on our recent trip to Chicago!

Paul Jakubiak

I live about two blocks from Third Coast. The menu is pretty eclectic and I've ordered a lot of it over the years, from tacos to cajun chicken pasta to omelets and waffles. In the dozens of times I have been there I have never had food that was less than excellent. The service is also consistently outstanding. This place is a hidden gem.

Sandra

Great breakfast place! Friendly stuff and good service. French Toast and coconut oatmeal are must haves.

Gijs Mulders

Pretty standard American Eatery, but the interior is quite nice.

Ann Frano

Great place! Fabulous fruit bowls. Try breakfast there. Coffee is delicious and cup stays full.

Max Weiss

Love the scones, the atmosphere, the chai lattes, and the owner Janet who really cares about the place and her customers. I've been going back every Sunday for the last 2 months.

R Connor

The Adam & Eve salad is amazingly delicious. I left nothing on my plate. Each morsel was flavorful, sweet and savory. A complete balance of flavors. Truly a treat. Service was impeccable.

Grant Wittenborn

Great atmosphere, friendly staff. An expansive menu with reasonably priced options for any taste. Kid friendly with options they can split with a kitchen that can accommodate any request. Highly recommend this restaurant for quality food at a reasonable price.

Carla Salvo

It is in the neighborhood. I had taste for a hamburger and fries. Found out they do not serve fries, only hash browns Middle of the day on a Sunday, restaurant only had few tables. Quick service, good food. If it was not in the neighborhood would I seek it out, probably not

Thomas Julin

This is everyone's favorite spot for breakfast and mine too.

Jessica Munro

I love this place. Quaint and cute little cafe with great service and nice size menu and portions! However, I'm rating this 3 starts because of the food itself. I have been there many times in the last 3 months and each time my food is really cold. Often my eggs are barely warm. Butter does not melt on toast, pancakes or French toast- at all. I have asked for things to be warmed up and they come out roughly the same temp. Again, this is a great place but just some small changes to food delivery would make it perfect!

Robyn Tong

One of my favorite places to eat! Service is fantastic, cafe is cozy and welcoming, and of course the food is delicious. I love their Cajun Chicken Penne- SO GOOD. Highly recommend 3rd coast cafe.

Wesley Whorton

Great food and atmosphere!

John Fitterer

Great place for breakfast. The coconut oatmeal is delicious and the service is very attentive.

Kate Cochran

I used to come here a lot when I lived in the neighborhood. I still daydream about their coronation chicken salad sandwich and kale caesar salad. This place is an unassuming gem.

Marlon Evangelista

Delicious corned beef hash and fluffy scrambled eggs. Friendly staff as well.

bill brasky

Good breakfast place and would return

Trevor Read

The bomb, as always

Nathan Poling

Good food, good service. No alcohol served before 11am.

Blandine Nothhelfer

Well, don't worry to wake up late, you can have breakfast all the day long on the 3rd Coast. I had the bagel with smoked salmon and vegetables. It was not excellent but good. The coffee is in the pot, unlimited and that's good. Atmosphere is ideal for winter. No wireless.

David Light

Best scones, great atmosphere

Jason Dunkelberger

I was pretty satisfied. Got the Polish sausage breakfast. Would get again.

Dominique Astorino

This cozy café feels like classic Chicago (or at least how I’ve always envisioned it!). Warm, welcoming, and just the right amount of vintage feel. If I lived here, this would be my regular spot! Food: excellent quality, no fuss or pretension. The hash browns are perfectly crispy, the “Betty” bene (kind of a cross between avocado toast and a classic eggs Benedict) was fabulous. Great food, wonderful and friendly service, and exceptionally affordable prices. 3rd Coast is truly a treasure and enhanced my Chicago travel experience in such an authentic way. Thank you to Janet and the staff who made me feel so welcome!

Jonnie Mitchell

Our waiter chose to insult us for sitting together rather than assess the situation and/or listen to our explanation. We chose to walk out. As a couple in our 70's it's not normal to have waiters yell at us. Most people in the hospitality industry understand the importance of polite service. This yooung man was distressed that we combined two tables together so that I could move out of the sunshine and we could sit side by side. So you don't care that others will have to wait he sneers while raising his voice. I could have pointed out that there was an empty table right behind him and two more tables who had just handed in their bills and there were no people waiting and hadn't been for the last 10 minutes. In addition we had already ordered our breakfast and would be gone soon ourselves. No I saw no reason for applying logic to a situation where emotion and obstinance were in charge. So... bye bye!

Sara Pierce

My top site for quality american food. There was quick and friendly service. The bill was well within reason for the quality. They have so many good reviews for a reason.

Jessica Spigner

Good food, nice service. Just could be a little cleaner, ambiance-wise. But this is a neighborhood gem and I wouldn't want it to go anywhere.

Grant Gordon

Quaint spot in the heart of Gold Coast. Menu with a wide variety of cuisines that is pretty much guaranteed to satisfy whatever you're in the mood for. Walk-ins only.

Jeff Carlson

3rd Coast is a great, reasonably placed restaurant in the Gold Coast, a bit off the beaten path so mostly frequented by locals but worth walking a few extra blocks north for. Service is friendly and efficient and the food is well above average. I don't live in this neighborhood, but will go out of my way to eat at 3rd Coast.

Carrie Connection

Love eating here. Food is great & a laid back vibe. Attended a private party in their back space. Food was done well, service & accommodations were very thoughtful.

pete bergmann

What a great find! In town for a wedding and we just had a great dining experience at this quaint little cafe. The atmosphere was perfect and the food even better! Janet (owner) personalized the service and gave us a dessert on the house as first-time guests. Don't miss this place!

Andrew Canavan

This was a solid breakfast spot. Our group wanted a breakfast place that was quiet enough for a leisurely meeting and this really fit that well. I thought $1.50 per slice was a little steep for bacon but it was very good bacon.

MrUnclecups

Mother's day, arrive at 8:45, seated immediately-not a full restaurant. Upon servers return to take our order, I apparently was given the wrong breakfast menu as the breakfast tacos are not on the weekend brunch menu. The server apologized as he snatched the menu from my hand. Realizing what he had done, he appropriately handed us off to another server. She took our order. 30 min go by, then 45 min, we ask how much longer-- we're told 4 min. 10 minutes later the manager comes to apologise about the slammed kitchen because of mother's day take out orders. Offers to buy us drinks or a scone-we decline. As she heads to the kitchen, we leave some money (too much) for coffee we had and left. Walked to the Kennison at Hotel Lincoln. We're seated, ordered and eating in 11 minutes.-and it was excellent.

Nick Jet

I had the scone and eggs Benedict, and they were exquisite

Cathy Morris

A beautiful restaurant/cafe. We had breakfast which was delicious. Our waitress told us that the building used to be a fancy hotel with a French restaurant. Full of beautiful architecture and a provacative art display of musicians with the unfortunate claim to fame of being members of the 27 Club. They carry a wide selection of unique wines. I plan to return for dinner soon.

Allise Wachs

I've eaten here numerous times, and every experience at 3rd Coast Cafe has been terrific. The food is consistently good, the service is superb, the location is great and quiet, and it's a great value.

Merle Newlon

Cozy, excellent service. Great coffee and omelette.

Jody Delpratt

Highly recommend, first time in Chicago! My husband and I had breakfast there, and he doesn’t eat eggs with yolk and the manager Janet made sure he got what he wanted ! She’s very Excellent And I must say this restaurant was one of the best restaurant I been to in Chicago! Customer Service is excellent! Will definitely go again!

John Bartlett

Always love the food! Great little place in the neighborhood.

Kevin Macksoud

The kind of place where the art on the walls is commissioned for sale. Possibly my favorite local spot for breakfast/brunch, I usually always get the coronation chicken salad sandwich with the fresh fruit on the side , the coronation is like a yellow sweet curry with raisins in it (doesn’t taste like curry, and not spicy at all), but everything else I’ve tried there has been good too. The coronation is just my favorite by far.

Tabitha Sani

Great food, relaxed style, great service. Local but not trendy. Real Chicago joint.

Brendan Callaghan

Came for breakfast with my girlfriend. We waited about 20 min but the food was well worth it. I got the pulled pork hash which was extremely good. Paired with great coffee and excellent service, I will definitely be returning.

C. RN

No wait on a Sunday at noon, which was a great surprise. Food was very good, the scone should be a must-order (one is big enough for 2 people to share). The atmosphere was warm and the staff were courteous. I will return to try more menu items again, hours are terrific for the neighborhood.

Dave Tiesma

Nice breakfast place!

Sam Bottoms

One of my favorite cafes and one I miss living in Uptown. The scones are a must; warm and soft, very flavourful and delightfully creamy when paired with the delicious butter they have. Good bloody Mary's too, quite spicy just 6 be aware. Always able to get in pretty quickly even on a Saturday or Sunday during brunch hours and an excellent alternative if your first choice in the area is booked up.

Werner S

Excellent, thats all what I say

Anna Naden

Very nice atmosphere, good service, good tea

Chris Drew

Don’t just pass by that small cafe. Take the time to stop in and taste what a real cup of coffee is suppose to taste like. Break the monotony of the DunkinBucks routine and actually enjoy a fresh cup of morning roast while you bask in the ambience of this rustic, yet elegant, cafe around the way.

Doug Dawson

Excellent food

James O'Connell

Always a great breakfast. Great scones!

Ben Sachs

This is my favorite neighborhood restaurant! In fact, it may be my favorite restaurant in the whole world. The food is amazing! I love it so much that I go almost every weekend. The staff is great! My favorite item to get is the Cobb salad with balsamic vinaigrette. The scones are really good too.

Nathan Buckley

Neighborhood diner with artwork. Food is standard but is a great option for the gold coast area where there aren't many good low-key options.

Kirsten Larkin Hardy

Amazing hidden gem! I ate here for breakfast the past 3 days so I thought I needed to write a review. The menu is the perfect size with tasty american food. There are always customers in there, but I have yet to wait for a table. 3rd Coast has great service, reasonable prices, and the food is delicious. I look forward to eating there for dinner and trying their drink deals ($5 jumbo margarita!!!)

David Prechtel

Great cafe for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner...Food is delicious, excellent wine selection, and very relaxing atmosphere! Enjoy!!

Chaithanya Sivakumar

Loved the cafe. Quiet place and courteous staff. Reasonably priced food. Tasted good too. Good job!!

Monica Matthews

Small menu but very good food. And I love that they have hot toddies

Tim Maher

Some of the Best food in Chicago

susan gallegos

Food was great and their mocha coffee was awesome

Philipp Schultheiss

Very friendly staff and very good background music. I would to go there regularly to read.

karen johnson

What a pleasant surprise! The Denver omelet was really good. Fresh squeezed OJ for our screwdrivers. Friendly quick service. The neighborhood is nothing short of amazing, including the building its located in. Go for a delicious breakfast with all the vintage charm.

Max Moss

All around great place. Highly recommend the Mexican steak and eggs (go for corn tortillas ya reprobates) or the pulled pork hash. Very good pancakes as well. If you're in a hurry you can drop in for a scone and a coffee at the counter, which are pretty good if you're nearby. Good staff, attentive but they let you be which I like. They have art on the wall for sale but it seems to be themed and so it changes all the time. Great place for a routine breakfast spot.

Doug Joubert

Food was okay: I had a ham & cheese omelette. Service left a lot to be desired: had to ask for almost everything, including various side items and refills on drinks. A little expensive for what I received.

AL BLAIS

This is your neighbourhood café serving breakfast all day with brunch options in the weekends. Friendly staff and a warm décor. Very good value for your money.

goldcoast.inc .co

Great food, friendly staff, great location, I been coming to this location for over 15 years love this place.

Nicholas Grassano

Amazing food and spectacular service! The pizza is out of this world! Would definitely eat here again!

Jane Godfrey

Nothing spectacular about the food, but pretty good. Service left a lot to be desired.

Edward Beshoory

Darn good food! I travel lots, am from Houston, and had the Dibalo's Tacos and thought they were excellent.

David McDermott

Ate there two days in a row because I loved it so much. They have fantastic coffee and I had the vegetable hash both times, it was outstanding!

Solmaz M

Great salad and burgers. Pizza was too cheesy. Fresh ingredients and prices were reasonable.

Paquita Poindexter

Good brunch that was served promptly. The pulled pork hash was full of flavor and tasty. I love that you can get a side of French toast which then let's me get my savory and sweet kick.

Alyssa Cramer

Excellent food and great service! Would definitely travel 2 hours to to back:)

Nikk Sharma

The food is amazing. The chicken noodle soup as a side exceeded my expectations and was unlike any I have had before. The chicken sandwich was well marinated and delicious. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. This establishment is a must.

Caroline Markham

Wonderful local eatery! Great food and ambiance!

Ken Phillips

The Third Coast has been our go to place for dinner in Chicago for several years. Something about the place just makes you feel instantly warm and comfortable the moment you walk in. Their reasonably priced menu always has new items to try but the pasta dishes are my favorite - along with the Key lime pie.

David W

I really enjoyed the great food and cozy atmosphere. The pizza was excellent.

Andrea Applegate

Love this place. It's my go-to for breakfast.

Christopher Richardson

Very attentive staff. Even when it's crazy busy. The food here is always delicious. Big fan the few times I've gone here.

Don Cue

Great breakfast spot and wine bar that we try to visit each time we go to Chicago. Recommend the scones!

Paul Zucker

Nice neighbor cozy vibe. Really enjoyed their Eggs Benedicto variation on a classic dish which adds pesto to the hollandaise and arugala.

Ben Hammond

This was a wonderful place to get Sunday brunch. I ordered The Benedicto, an Italian take on eggs Benedict. It was amazing! The egg was perfectly cooked, the sauce was delicious, and, perhaps the most important part, the fruit was all fresh and delicious, and that's pretty telling.

Bob Segal

Great place for brunch or casual lunch. Loved the tuna melt. Situated in upscale Gold Coast area of Chicago.

Norm Wilson

Great neighborhood restaurant with quiet atmosphere and reasonable prices. The food is always freshly prepared and delicious.

Eric Lang

Went here sort of blindly for lunch and was blown away. Unpretentious place with a broad menu. Server guided me to the shaved beef sandwich, which was HUGE and delicious

Greg Segal

One of the first spots I tried when I moved to the Gold Coast. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and rarely a wait. I do wish they had french fries to go with the burgers and sandwiches, but the hash browns are good too.

Daniel Valentino

Nice Gold Coast bistro cafe. We were there for brunch with friends. Everything was very good; poached eggs on Avocado toast was notably good, as were the easy over eggs and the pancakes. Coffee was also good - very hot and not bitter. On Sundays they have a $5 Bloody Mary or Mimosa (including a Pineapple Mimosa). Friendly wait staff and good service. Overall, a great experience and excellent value for this location.

Aquiles Molina

3rd Coast is one of the oldest Cafe's in Chicago. With a bohemian, artsy history, it is both established and trendy. In my opinion Breakfast is a highlight here. They also have a great casual menu, with some great surprises. Enjoy prices are more than fair for the Gold Coast area.

Rich Basher

We ordered a Denver omelet and Diablo tacos since it was brunch time. Wow! Wife got 4 tacos with avocado salsa - delicious. My omelet was huge, and also delicious. Friends raved about it and now we know why.

Rahul Krish

Great food, good ambiance and they have really good coffee!

Helen de Andrade

I really like the atmosphere and the food at this place. My favorite of all is a dessert: the apple pie. You should try it.

Jimena Alvarez Soto

Good food, nice service

Janice Barry

Great food, crowded for breakfast. Well worth a visit. Parking can be a problem.

Greg Benoit

Great food, great atmosphere. Been here twice now for brunch, and both times the meal was perfect. Nice warm atmosphere as well.

Elinore Moore

Good variety of authentic food

Mary Boyle

Excellent food and reasonably priced in the adorable Gold Coast neighborhood.

Susan Barrish

Our wonderful neighborhood cafe, but visitors welcome. Breakfast all day. Good food and service at reasonable prices.

Graham Harwood

A classic diner that has a good menu and reasonable prices. Breakfast all day which is always a plus and open late. What's not to like about that? The specials are usually pretty good as well and you can order alcohol and liquor.

Blake D.

I was pleasantly surprised at the great job the cook did. It was too snowy/icy to leave the Hotel so I gave the cafe a try. My steak was tasty and tender, the mash potatoes creamy, and the young carrots cooked perfectly. I will definitely stop in again.

Kent Kearney

The Malibu burger was delicious Angus medium rare cooked to perfection. Chef here clearly has taken great care and pride in his workmanship. Lisa was pleasant and attentive. Great job.

Coomar Prayash Barua

Great for a classy dinner date .

Frances Kao

3rd Coast is primarily a local joint in a tourist-heavy neighborhood. Not much to look at from the outside. However, on the inside you get a warm welcome, prompt service (though there are times when they get short-handed) and diverse menu choices. The cafe is also dog-friendly - they can't come in but the staff always accommodates requests for ice water for the pups. Best part is that 3rd Coast has real bagels, not just round bread with a. hole.

F K

A neighborhood staple and Gold Coast hideaway from tourists and suburbanites that frequent the other places nearby. A good place to meet friends when everyone is craving something different with a menu that ranges from salads to all day breakfast. The bacon here is notable - thick and lean. Specials change regularly including daily drink specials. A limited but thoughtful selection of bottled beers, wines, and cocktails. No fried food here. Though it's something similar to an upscale coffee shop, the menu isn't basic and the atmosphere is casual, music is always nice, staff is attentive and most have been there a long while. Portions are generous without being obnoxious and sides are great - baby spinach ceasar, sauteed brussel sprouts are part of a long list. I love breakfast here - Mexican steak and eggs, Italian omelettes, crisp hash browns, anything served with bacon. Filled pastas are a good call for evening meals. If you're craving breakfast at night, ask for the menu and they're happy to accommodate you.

E Asgeirsson

Excellent food and drink. Every time I visit Chicago, I eat here.

anouk baker anglade

Came for breakfast on a Saturday. Had the stuffed french toast without the whipped cream. It was not too sweet, I'd come again for this.

Eduard Onecic

Food was bland and took awhile to come out.

John Bates

Great breakfast menu. Food was delicious. Service was quick and efficient.

ty hogan

Wonderful neighborhood spot in the Gold Coast. You cannot go wrong

Don Lindell

Such good food and service! I love this place. Every meal is great and the selections are wonderful. Very casual place to eat and the staff is quick, professional, and very friendly. Did I me tion the food? Off the charts

Salvador Wells

3rd Coast Cafe American Restaurant is nestled in the heart of the Gold Coast. The oldest cafe in the Gold Coast will surprise you with different good old fashioned food menu. Very casual place to eating healthy food, and the staff is very quick to serve. Everyone love the options of breakfast all day, incredible salads, sandwiches, a nightly changing dinner menu including fresh seafood, steaks, and vegan items. The restaurant has music system and also have a art gallery. Their management service is very professional and friendly. From GKN SECRET SHOPPER.

William Michaels

Never had a bad meal at 3rd Coast.

Alona Bazlova

Didn’t really enjoy my breakfast at 3rd Coast Cafe. It is really hard to ruin breakfast/eggs but I felt like the dish I ordered was blunt. I had the salmon Benedict and it had a weird spicy salsa which didn’t go well with it and the breakfast hash browns were too oily for my liking.

Dalia khan

I ordered the benedicto and stuffed french toast. Both were yummy yummy. Don't miss the stuffed french toast.

Fit With Brit

Really good food, friendly service, and loved the warm atmosphere.

yasmina sokolov

good food and great service!

Stephen Paige

A nice selection of food and always great service!

M S

Excellent service and the scones are amazing. My server was Kornelia and she was very kind and attentive. I had a couple of mimosas for their weekend special $5bloody marys and mimosas. Delicious!! I also met Janet, the owner who was so sweet! I will be back to try the rest of the menu!
