I tried the chipotle chicken this time and loved it! This place is great for large groups, since we had at least ten in our group and were able to be seated and served with no issues.

Was an unfortunate experience. Had to ask for menus, ask for drinks, and if we could place our order. Wait staff was not on top of things and they were not even busy. Messed up on my friends order and took a half hour to fix the issue. Was a 2 1/2 hour process to eat. Terrible service.

Bardenay is a regular restaurant I visit in Boise. The food is good and the drinks are some of the less expensive in Boise because they make a lot of their own liquor. When other restaurants are raising their prices Bardenay goes out of their way to keep everything affordable for the locals.

Outdoor seating is nice and plentiful. The service was good and polite. This was not my first time here so while this experience was not my best, overall this is a good reliable restaurant. Centrally located downtown in the Basque district, make sure to try the red bean and chorizo soup, though ask for it to be hot and you want the bread. Happy hour 4-6, good for dates and large groups

The food was great we all tried something different. None of us were disappointed. My steak was tender and juicy. My wife's Buddha bowl had a great mix of shrimp, veggies and spices. My son-in-law's Salmon was just right and my daughter's soup and entree was delicious. A little noisy but it was a busy Friday night. Great experience and service.

Love this place! Whenever the girlfriend and I can’t decide on a place to eat, this is the go to. Something for everyone with pretty good prices. Only thing is I wish they had the full menu for lunch.

This was my first time in Boise and we came here to celebrate my nephew's first Holy Communion. We were a group of about 20 odd people which included young children. My sister's family pre-ordered a few appetisers for the group but rest was all à la carte including beverages. The appetisers (shrimp and chicken skewers) took some time to be served but were delicious. Each of us ordered different dishes off the menu so we literally sampled a handful. My personal favourite was the sea bass gnocchi and the chimichanga. I had a great time at this modern hub with a glass of Bananarchy to lift my spirits.The interiors and patio space is just very spacious and it instantly sets you in mood to sit down, and unwind.They have an interesting list of cocktails which I look forward to relish someday when I'm back in town.

The place is nice, centrally located in downtown Boise. Their is tons of seating. I personally didn't like the menu, neither did my husband. They just seemed to always have to add some odd ingredient to everything. We couldn't just find a burger and fries that was normal, there was always some random cheese or wierd topping on it. They do have a gluten free menu which was really cool and convienent.

Taking the brewpub concept to the next levels, Bardenay has an in-house distillery. The full restaurant serves a wide variety of selections, and the created on premises vodka (all that I tasted, so unsure if they make other spirits) based beverage was delightful. I did have a glass of wine with dinner, which was quite nice, selection of wine and beers was certainly adequate. The dessert was generous, even split three ways.

I just had the most lovely experience here! I travel for work and decided to try this place out, and I’m so glad I did. I had INCREDIBLE service from Chelsea; super fun and friendly as well as attentive without being obnoxious. I had the beef skewers (DELICIOUS) with the side Caesar (ALSO DELICIOUS) and some faaaab wine. They have a great, diverse food menu and a book of booooooze! So much wine, beer, spirits, and cocktails to choose from! I love it so much I’m taking some cheesecake to go and enjoy in my hotel along with my dinner leftovers. Very cool vibe here; not too noisy, you can be on your own or if I wanted to be more social I’m pretty sure I’d have made some new friends. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town. Thanks, especially to Chelsea!!

Delicious drinks AND food! Was happily surprised their drink menu is bigger than their food menu, but duuh! They are a distillery! Tried their French dip (amazing) and chicken sandwich (solid, but nothing special...) as well as two of their satay skewers (very tasty!). Drinks were a highlight though... tried four different ones. The Boulevardier (Rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, Aperol, Grapefruit bitters) was my fave!

Since I moved here in 2002, Bardenay has been one of my favorite restaurants. I don't drink so I can't rate their alcohol, but their food is fantastic. And their service is always top notch. I would strongly suggest sitting on their patio on a summer day and ordering their cheese board. Really nice place to relax with friends. Do go!

Bardenay is a trusted lunch stop for many professionals. My go-to location to treat my clients. I've always had amazing food (try the meatloaf sandwich or fish tacos!), and the house made vodka is divine. I feel I always get mediocre service and attention from the waitstaff, and I often have to flag down my server for drink refills, or my check. While I understand not bothering your guests to the point of annoyance, they take it a tad too far and disappear altogether (my waitress's shift ended once and her replacement had no idea she still had an active table left). A little more active and timely service, maybe a few more smiles, and this place would be a 5 star location for any occasion.

Four of us went for dinner on a Friday night. It was crowded but we were seated fairly quickly. We ordered a crab appetizer which I don’t think we would order again but our meal was excellent. I ordered the pork chop which was perfect, the potatoes were delicious and veggies were perfectly spiced and cooked. We each loved our dishes, they were so flavorful, we will definitely be returning.

My experience here was mixed. I have an extreme case of Celiac disease, so I cannot even touch gluten or wheat, so when I saw that Bardenay had some gluten free options, I was thrilled. After eating their gluten free charbroiled salmon just one time, I was in love. From then on, I literally ordered a salmon every single day because it was so amazing. But then one day, I got so nauseous after eating my salmon that I was sick in bed for the rest of the day. I assumed it was due to cross-contamination with something that contained wheat, probably in the kitchen, and I wanted to go back, but I just couldn’t. I can’t even stomach any kind of salmon now because of how awful I felt. That was around last year, and I finally thought that I should maybe try again since I used to have such a good experience here, and it was only one time that made me sick. But this time was so much different. When I got my first order of salmon, despite telling them to not put anything on it, it was covered, and I mean COVERED in some tomato something. We sent it back, they apologized and made a new one, except this time there was literally just? a slice of bread? on my salmon? Like, it doesn’t even come with bread. Since the salmon had touched the bread, it was no longer gluten free, so we had to send it back yet again. The staff was incredible about it, and so apologetic, but I can only imagine that the kitchen staff thought I wanted gluten free due to trying to ‘be cool’ despite us saying that it was medical. The third time, the salmon had so much pepper on it that it was inedible. I couldn’t even continue after a few bites. I honestly despise leaving bad reviews, but I’m genuinely so disappointed. I used to eat here every day, but now, unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

I literally get the same thing everytime, Kobe beef tacos and a side of fries. The food is really good but I would say the reason this place is so packed is the location and the atmosphere. Many times if you have a party over 4 I would recommend showing up 20 to 30 min before you actually want to have dinner as the line can be long.

Having been in Boise for several days, this was, by far, the best meal we have enjoyed in those four days. Both dishes, my pork chop and my co-workers fish were cooked to perfection. The housemaid Spirits were very enjoyable, with a gin being my favorite. Two top it all off was Jo, who was clearly on top of her game. Very knowledgeable. Fast & friendly. She really took care of us, without being on top of us. When we travel back, 2400 miles, this will be our first stop. Thanks Jo!

10/5/2018- my daughter had shards of glass in her glass of water. Actually sucked them into her mouth and had them stuck in the roof of her mouth and accidentally swallowed some. Managed to get two out and showed them to the server. She said “sorry I’ll let that manager know”. Never heard from the manager on duty. Didn’t offer to comp a soda or take a percentage off the bill. When a glass of water makes you bleed at a restaurant a manager needs to get involved. My bad for not walking out. Shame on you Bardenays. UPDATE- heard from the manager, he stated the server did not tell him there was an issue until after we had left and assured me he was very concerned and would make sure that safety precautions were taken. Will try again and hope for a better experience.

My friend and I ate a late afternoon lunch here. They have a lot of basic "fast food" types of sandwiches and soups but much better quality. I had a meatloaf sandwich (a bit greasy) but lucked out when I ordered sweet potato fries. I was surprised at the amount they served. Thick and crisp and not smothered with salt. You could taste the sweet potato but still had a crispy crunch to them. I am not much of a wine drinker but the list of wines was awesome. I think I'll enjoy a beer and fries the next time I visit.

Each Time i come here i get the chicken Caesar salad but this time was Different. This was or anniversary dinner and we both chose The Bardenay. I decided on the Burger and i was not disappointed. I asked for extra purple onions and got a lot more than expected. The Burger was delicious and done the way i like. I am still going to come in for the Caesar but my get that as a side dish. I honestly am not sure what the hype is about. I've tried out Bardenay twice now. Mainly, because some others recommended it and wanted to go there. Pros - I love their sweet potato fries and fry sauce...but that's about it. Each time, service was slow. I get that places get busy, but what makes it worse is that because they are busy, the servers make you feel like your presence is an inconvenience. The food (whether I had a salad or a sandwich) was mediocre at best. In fact, that second time I went, my friend had paper in her burger - left over from the cheese slice that was placed on her burger.

Terrific drinks and satays, and a great kids menu - plus service with a smile and a half. But really, the food is alright - a shame given how much I tend to love gastropub fare.

Our second trip for dinner last week and it could have been better. Our first experience was fantastic. They must have had an off night, my beer was warm out of the tap, our fries were not hot, and the wife’s burger was way over cooked. With all the good reviews I chalk it up to them having an off night. We will definitely try it again at some point given the fact our first experience was pleasant .

I've been to Bardenay a couple of times, once in Eagle and once in Boise. I really like this place. The drinks are great! They are mixed strong, not watered down. The food is pub style food and is well priced for this type of restaurant. I had the fish tacos on my most recent visit, but they have a diverse menu with lots to choose from. Service has been excellent both visits. The Boise location seems much more crowded and noisy, but it could have been the timing of the visit.

Kind of disappointed in the bruch I had here... I love biscuits and gravy, the gravy tasted like un-seasoned bechamel with sausage added. The other food I tasted was very good. DON'T get the biscuits and gravy and you'll be happy.

I was very happy to see how unique this restaurant is. They have a large still inside that they make their own alcoholic beverages. The brick walls are a nice touch to the smooth atmosphere. The staff were amazing. They were fast and very personable. They answered all our questions and made us laugh. Great food too!

We always go here before Boise State football games. We have never had a bad experience! The food is great. The spirits selection is very nice and the atmosphere is quite unique. I look forward to getting to go again soon.

IThe What an expensive Easter Mistake! Bardenay came highly recommended, so we decided to give the Easter Buffet a try. I was severely disappointed in the following: ALL of the hot dishes were barely warm. The prime rib was tough to the point of nearly being inedibleable. The tables were crammed together to the point of having to coordinate with the people at nearby tables, so that people could get up! There was only one fruit choice & it was poorly presented as an afterthought. As for the Belgian waffles, I think they were cooked previously and then deep fried to bring them back to life. In a word... YUCK!" I suspect the "maple" syrup was fake "maple" syrup - aka Mrs. Butterworth. The waitstaff did not clearly explain what beverages were & were not, complimentary. On the plus side: People in our group spoke highly of the omelet station. The dessert choices were delicious and the variety was very nice. The staff were attentive. All in all, disappointment reigned the day & we will not be back! $150 for 4 a group of people who left dissatisfied. UPDATE: Bardenay's manager contacted us and apologized for our experience. I sincerely appreciate them reaching out. We may give them another try in the future.

First of all, what a beautiful building. The food was really good. They offer the best sweet potato fries I have ever had. The trout was incredible. The service was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. I never felt we needed to flag down our waitress, she just seemed to be there when we had a need. The prices are reasonable and the rest of the experience is great.

What a selection of drinks! The house liquors are excellent and they blend them expertly into great drinks. Very good food too. Had the seared tuna and it was perfect. When we're in Boise again we'll be back. Need to hit the nearest spirits store for some of their gin too. Good stuff.

We had a great experience here!!! We had dinner and cocktails. Dinner was delicious, and I don't think you could go wrong with any of the items. We each had the house martini, and it was very good.

The service I had from our waitress was outstanding, the were issues in the kitchen with other tables orders and pots and she handled it like a champ. The food for the most part was very good, my entree was a little bit of a muss but the starter and salad were sour on. Even more so was the cocktails, my friends and I tried a wide range of cocktails of their menu and were not disappointed in any of them, definitely planning to go back.

Excellent food and service. I just wish the noise level was a little lower. I am older and it is hard for me to hear my soft spoken companions over the back ground noise when this place is full of people. Otherwise it would be a 5 star.

Great place for brunch on the weekends or food anytime. Its the only place I have seen with a distillery on site. Think brewpub, but for vodka.
