Unbelievably delicious! The restaurant's theme is very hip. It has a sexy, Spanish convent vibe going on that I was a huge fan of. As you walk in, you walk under an impressive archway of wine bottles. In case you're curious, they're very real and very expensive. I ordered the baked salmon and loved it. Just so good. We come here every time we're in Boise.

The best! Table side made guacamole was the best I've had... but now I really know how to make it. The hot stone on my plate to cook my steak to perfection was perfect. It's pretty awesome when the presentation of the plated dish is on point The food taste better or as good as it looked.

Really cool restaurant with a great atmosphere. We just ordered drinks and appetizers and it was very yummy! It was my boyfriend's birthday and so they brought out a giant tunnel of cotton candy with a candle inside! It was spendy, but as long as you are expecting it, it's well worth it!

The atmosphere was great here. The wine bottle tunnel was a nice touch. The food was a little pricey but was excellent. We had the steak and shrimp and the seafood spinach pasta, both were delicious. They sat us right next to the lake which had a great view.

This was one if the best restaurants I have been to in years. Our apps were fantastic as was my steak and risotto. The deserts were great as well. Only thing that would be better is if you knew what menu items they light on fire because that was awesome. I don't remember our waitress's name but it was a really short bold girl and she made the dinning experience even better with what a good job she did.

The tableside guacamole is fantastic and the flaming cotton candy was a wonderful birthday treat. But if you go to Barbacoa, you have to get the Steak on a Hot Rock- I can't say enough good things about it! Make sure to ask for the dish of colorful salts to artfully sprinkle on top! Also, keep an eye on the moving pictures and if you find yourself in the Men's room, take a peek through the keyhole!

Most amazing filet! Highly recommend the "Hot Rock". It will melt in your mouth. For dessert, do yourself a favor and get the "Orange Fig Panacotta". A light and less filling sweet ending with a fabulous combination of flavors. Already anticipating my next visit!

We've absolutely loved our tradition of having our Anniversary dinner here each year. We've tried a variety of menu items and have never been disappointed. We've always experienced nothing but the BEST service while enjoying our incredible meal. My husband and I were also very impressed to see how the owner walks around interacting with customers.

Very good drinks and food. Kind of weird to start. People wait at entrance for someone to say go and then the herd races to get a table. Guess that's what happens when they offer 2 for 1 drinks. Nice atmosphere. Watch the painting of the man and woman in the bar; you may think you've had too much to drink.

10 people for a business dinner. All the steaks were severely underdone. 5 people received their food, the other five received their food 15 minutes later. The doors to the pond were open and the place was inundated with flies. It was embarrassing to host a dinner with people from all over the country and have this happen. Not a good spotlight on me, my company, or Boise in general.

If you like gaudy women’s restrooms with a peep hole from the men’s side, then this place is for you! Service was sub par. The servers look like they’re apart of the CIA with headsets. I ordered the paella, which tasted like uncle bens rice with a chicken wing in it ( I didn’t know traditional paella has chicken wings) and the shrimps were over done. I didn’t eat even 1/3 of it. Thank god I didn’t order the salad, otherwise I would have had a server offer me fresh pepper with a 3 FOOT PEPPER GRINDER. WHO NEEDS THAT MUCH PEPPER?! My boyfriend got the trout, which was O.K., and it was accompanied by some rice that had maybe spaghetti sauce mixed in? Chef boyardee tastes better. DID I MENTION WHILE WASHING MY HANDS MEN WERE PEEKING AT ME THROUGH A KEY HOLE!? AND A GROWN MAN AND HIS ENTIRE FAMILY WALKED IN THE WOMENS RESTROOM WHEN I WAS WASHING MY HANDS?! Who does that?! Overall, ridiculous experience. Never coming back to Boise.

First time. probably last time. Great environment in the patio. Great location by the pond. Great presentation of the steak I ordered. Unfortunately it was very uneven in how well it was cooked. Rare to well across the cut. Only seasoning seemed to be in the sauces served with it. Thank goodness for the hot rock to finish cooking the meat. For that much money it was a dud. Table guacamole was great. Sauces all seemed good.

The atmosphere is great...very lively, attentive staff, and a lot of food and drink options. Their appetizers and desserts are very well done but unfortunately their steaks are just okay. I’ve tried most all of them and have been unimpressed especially for their price. Even one of their special’s was a “prime” NY but it was tough and had no flavor. Def not prime. This place has a lot of Boise hype but if you’re looking for drinks, apps, and a lively and unique atmosphere then this place is spot on. I’m just not a big fan of their steaks.

Great food, great staff. The Cowboy(Tomahawk) was great. I've been to other 'stone use' restaurants and this setup was by far one of if not the best. The stone was the perfect temp that you didnt need to ever remove the cut of meat even for med rare. I sat around with my massive steak for a good solid minutes before deciding to take the last bits home and it was still as warm as fresh out of the kitchen. Our server Kevin was very friendly and talkative. If you drink bourbon ask to sit in Kevins section when you come into the host. I actually got pulled over on my way Virginia to Oregon and asked the patrolman where to eat and he suggested here. Silver lining to my quick trip down 84 in Idaho.

Everything is always delicious here. The tableside guac is an absolute must! Their attention to design detail is felt immediately upon entering the restaurant. My friends and I have this on our must visit list every time we come to town. I also truly appreciate that they have entirely separate menu for vegetarians. While I'm not a full fledged vegetarian, there are times where I'm just not interested in having a meat dish and truly appreciate the option of having the vegetarian options. I ordered the Risotto from that menu and it was so delicious. We ordered dessert as well. When I heard they had a s'mores dessert that came with a little fire I had to get one! It was the most fun I've ever had with dessert at a restaurant. Being able to "toast" my marshmallow on an actual fire was the best! Their homemade marshmallows were delicious as well.

!The setting is gorgeous there's a pond and patio outback and a rooftop bar. Inside the bar scene is beautiful and so is the brick oven. I ordered a seafood pasta dish but the coup de grace is any steak dish. It's cooked on a hot rock infront of you! Service is great my table and I kept full drinking glasses! It's a mixed atmosphere.

Decent. Not mind blowing. The guacamole was good ($14) and the table side experience was fun but the corn chips were bland. The duck two ways wasn’t awful by any means but it wasn’t a mind blowing experience I would expect for $35. The fat was rubbery and the rice was mush, the asparagus wasn’t seasoned in any way, but the sauce and the seasoning on the duck was spot on. Desert was coffee and donuts. The cream filled pastries were good, but again not amazing. The churros were definitely over cooked and d r y even when soaked in coffee. The milk with espresso cubes was the best part of my entire meal. Presentation and atmosphere was beautiful but it seems that’s where most of the passion went.

Service wasn't very good. It was a Monday evening. We all ordered the hot rock steaks and there wasn't enough room on the table for these types of plates. We ended up putting some extra dishes on the floor as there wasn't enough room on the table and no sever to pick up the extra plates. This made for an awkward dining experience. The hot rock, while a "wow" factor when lit, continued to cook the steaks to almost burnt. There was not an extra plate or room to get food off this very hot dish. Unfortunate for those that ordered medium rare steaks. The food tasted good at first but burnt steak and mashed potatoes, not so much. The guacamole sever kept bumping into one of our chairs trying to get his cart into the room. This was a very expensive meal so I would expect more. For 4 people we paid over $200 dollars. We are local and won't dine here again.

Holy cow. We came basically for apps and drinks, but we were not let down. I grabbed two really nice pours of whiskey for really reasonable prices. I was in heaven. And the guacamole was made in front of us and was really delicious. Cool view on the back area. Would definitely come back. Especially for the whiskey.

Wow wow wow... WOW!!!! This place was sooo amazing I can't even begin to describe. It is definitely a fancier uptake on mexican style fares but it was fabulous. My husband had their special which was their normal filet that is what they are known for but this one was wrapped in bacon. The meat melted in my mouth. I had a pasta with beef tips and mushrooms and a walnut sauce that is to die for. We also got their table side guacamole and it was fabulous and I highly reccomend it. To finish we had fried ice cream balls dipped in honey. Its pricey but worth it for a date night or if you want to go casual and just have dinner, go sit outside right by the pond.

We spent Valentine's Day with them for the 5th year now and as always it was an amazing experience and fabulous food. This year we were a little late getting our reservations in so we had our dinner set for 4pm. It was an amazing experience, no wait for a table, super friendly and quick service, and it was quiet during our dinner. We enjoyed it so much that we will be sweeping up that time slot again next year! Thanks to all the staff that put so much time and energy into this amazing night!

Great spot to eat, drink, and just relax. Obvious must have for first timers would be side guacamole, hot rock filet, and the cotton candy. I personally love the coffee and donuts dessert and the hot rock filet with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. I would also recommend coming during happy hour as it is buy one get one on your favorite alcoholic beverages. I will say it is kinda strange on dress code, as you will see people in gym attire or t shirts. But you will also see people in flip flops as well as blazers and cocktail dresses. So you can wear whatever you would like, but I prefer to side on a slightly dressed up when spending that kind of money on dinner. Needless to say it is a must see while in Boise.

Unbelievable experience. You must order your steak on the "hot rock". It's brought out, slightly undercooked, on a hot rock that has a temperature of about 500 degrees. That allows it to cook to your preference while at the table. Watch the server pour a liquid over it to cause a flame to sear in the flavors. Absolutely one of the best steaks I've ever had!

Food was great but the outlandish design and artistic flavor of the whole place was what made the experience a memorable one for me. The decor is very random but somehow works. The staff was great. I wouldn't have changed a thing. In my pictures... Oysters, the steak filet on the rock, and bananas foster. Also had a Sidecar for a drink. Similar to a Long Island to me. I'm full.

From lighting your food on fire, to getting fried I've cream served in unique metal work, it's awesome. Great decor and atmosphere, always crowded and loud. Downside is it's always crowded and loud. Also, expensive. But if you have 60$ per person without alcohol, you're good.

This restaurant is probably one of the most unique places in Boise. The artsy style of the decor is something to experience. I've been here numerous times and the food, drinks and service are always top-notch. I have never received any thing less than excellent service. I've tried a few different entrees, but I return to the hot-rock steak, and substitute the filet for the NY. Strip. If you've never been, this is a must-go!

So first and foremost I want to say the customer service here is absolutely outstanding. Our servers were extremely friendly and made us feel very comfortable in the restaurant. The atmosphere is actually very enjoyable. The staff was not the issue here in the slightest. What we had an issue with was the food, for the price that we paid for our food it should have been at a much higher quality. Both octopus appetizers me and my wife got were rubbery and chewy. This was my first time here, but my wife was really confused by this as she's been here before and usually loves the octopus. The swordfish didn't taste very fresh, the coconut rice that came with it though was decent. She has convinced me to give this place a second shot and I hope the quality of the food will be more consistent with the price point. I will say the guacamole was outstanding though and the fact it's made in front of you and to taste is amazing.

The service is the very best. The guacamole made at your table was good but the corn tortilla chips were stale. This place is just amazing with the decor but sitting on the patio with hot heaters needed to be turned down. I recommend making a reservations even when arriving when they open.

My wife and I visited Barbacoa for the first time and we were very happy with the experience. We called earlier in the day and made a reservation. I would strongly recommend this as we showed up a few minutes before opening and the lobby area was already packed. Our waiter as well as his assistant were great. Our water was constantly filled and items cleared from our table quickly. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and he took the time to explain things to us. When we made a choice he would also recommend something similar that may be to our liking and he was spot on. We arrived at 4, so their happy hour is from 4-6, with a buy one get one on their drinks. Keep in mind, what ever drink you get as your first drink, your free drink has to be the exact same thing. Then guacamole is a must and a great appetizer. The main course was good as well as the salad. Drinks were delicious and desert was also very good. It's spendy, but I feel the experience and food is worth it. My wife and I had two rounds of drinks, appetizer, salad, their specials for our main course and desert. All that with an above average tip and came in around $200.

Really enjoyed dinner at Barbacoa tonight. The place was heaving but their 2 for 1 happy hour was no doubt a key contributor to that. I had a perfectly cooked Ribeye with a true ID spud with trimmings. Everything was spot on. The desserts coming out of the kitchen looked very adventurous but my gut could no more. If you're in Boise looking for a great view, eats and atmosphere this place checks all the boxes.

I went with a good friend for Barbacoa's happy hour. The drinks are buy one, next one free. The tableside guacamole is excellent, especially since you get to tweak so you like it. (I like mine with extra garlic). The service at Barbacoa is wonderful, the view is true Boise. The decor and ambiance of Barbacoa makes every visit delightful.

Words can hardly describe the experience that Barbacoa provides, but I'll give it a shot! The atmosphere is unlike anything I've ever experienced. Part rustic, part old European dungeon (in the very best way), part fine dining, and 100% amazing from start to finish. Their cocktail menu is quite extensive and their bar is well stocked. A nice wine menu and beer list as well. I had the I'll Be Your Huckleberry and it was very tasty. The Chill is very very good as well and it comes with a mango popsicle! All of the appetizers we had were incredible. The barbecue duck quesadilla was to die for! I very highly recommend the table side guacamole also, so good. The short rib flat bread was incredible too. For the main course it was a Hot Rock Filet: an 8 oz filet mignon served on a piece of hot granite, drizzled with a green peppercorn cognac sauce that is au flambeau. Such an awesome presentation for an incredible dish. I also had the mac and cheese, some amazing prawns, and the mashed potatoes. Everything was incredible, if you're looking for a fantastic fine dining experience in Boise, look no further that Barbacoa.

This is my favorite place to go for a special date night. I really love the atmosphere that's created with the eclectic decor. The freshly made guacamole is amazing and it's so cool that it's made right in front of you. As for dinner...nothing holds a candle to the "hot rock" fillet!

We got the 2 1/2 pound porterhouse to share and it was huge. We got it on a hot rock plate and it was delicious. Good views and atmosphere. Would recommend.

Service was slow and the oysters were not fresh. The martinis were great though. I was a bit disappointed as this has always been our favorite spot for special occasions. We went on a Tuesday hoping it wouldn't be too busy but Not the case. I'm pretty sure that's why it took a bit longer. The oysters were fishy tasting and not in a good way. We'll try again another day, perhaps and hope for a better experience.

Great staff, fantastic food, funky decor, incredible experience. I love Barbacoa Grill, Boise, ID. As a two-time visitor to the Boise, I’m continually impressed at the local food scene, and a visit to Barbacoa Grill on this trip further cements my impression. TIP: check out their outstanding website. The restaurant is located among some office-type buildings not far from the downtown area of Boise. The exterior is impressive with a colorful sign, flaming torches, decorative furniture, and a large, impressive door. Once inside, your eyes catch a variety of funky art while your ears experience a thumping music and hum of guests. The hostesses were very busy and efficient. TIP: Make reservations! The restaurant offers a variety of seating including private room service. The tables and chairs are decorative and interesting. The noise level is fairly high but not too high. The servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The drink and food menus are comprehensive and interesting, catering to all types of tastes around the theme of open fire grilling, Pacific Northwest ranch, and Latin-America influences. I really enjoyed the Top Shelf Margarita and the Black Manhattan (in an ice glass!). The meals are presented as works of art including plenty of flames at the table—dramatic and delightful. The food is very tasty as well. The Latin Steak included a delicious, perfectly cooked flank steam with rice, beans, avocado salad, and tortilla—perfect to the last bite. The Idaho Trout was huge and delicious. The BBQ Ribs was an enormous rack with slaw. The desserts were equally unique and impressive especially the Campfire Smores (complete with wood fire for roasting) and the coconut and pineapple flan (beyond yummy). The prices were on the high side but deservedly so. I rate Barbacoa Grill as a great value for being a complete and delightful experience: high quality service, inventive and delicious menu, and interesting atmosphere. My highest recommendation—don’t miss the Barbacoa Grill, Boise!

Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The staff was attentive and very friendly, and the presentation here is amazing. Everything was delicious, even though most of our group filled up on appetizers before our meals had even arrived, but no one was upset. Highly recommend for a great night out.

Great food! Fancy place. Prices are a little more than what I was prepared for, personally. Table side guac is really good! Service was great. View of the pond is pretty, especially in summer. I love that they have a vegetarian menu, wish they had more Pasta dishes on the vegetarian menu. Celebrate with a fun cotton candy for birthdays, which is a fun touch!
