make sure to go at sunset for best views from your table. Sitting outside on first floor is best if you have young kids, plus, they will enjoy the koi pond. DO NOT leave without ordering the chocolate souffle (and waiting 2-3 mins after it arrives before indulging; it pays to be patient.)

Chad Myers

The staff was fantastic and friendly in every way. The food, for the price, left something to be desired. Crab cakes were small, deep fried and a bit greasy. The mashed potato serving was so tiny! My wife had macadamia crusted Mahi which was honestly very Bland with hardly a side of potatoes worth mentioning as it was next to none. All around the food portions were much smaller than they should have been considering the price. Windows were dirty with little kiddo finger smudges all around interrupting the sunset view. Again, have to say how amazing the staff were.

Brian Yamane

Table service is good but food overrated. Taste is ok but I think they try too hard to combine too many flavors into a dish. Simple is always best.

Michaela Vargas

Wow! Delicious food but also the most kind, courteous service! Ate at the bar and it was 5 star all the way. Thanks to bartender Joon!

I've been to the original Roy's a number of times. The staff is always top notch and friendly. Sameer always greets guests with the warmest smile and attention. Then...there is the food. Yes it's pricy, but it's also a fine dining establishment. There is no sparing of quality here. My fav are a few things off menu: duck breast and short ribs!

Michelle

The Original Roy's Restaurant! The OG in HK. I've been to so many Roy's over the years I've lost count. Having dinner at the original is pretty special. Though the ambiance is more appealing in Waikiki, you cannot beat the view from the 2nd story at the original. Not to mention free parking. Appetizers are outstanding, so much so I can't bare the thought to say pupu. The wine list is appealing to any Sommelier. Main course meals are largely portioned and the fresh fish, is exactly that...fresh. Now for 20+ years I have not missed a chocolate souffle yet...its pure heaven. Absolutely worth the drive from any part of the island to have a lovely dinner at Roy's. P.S. The manager is absolutely wonderful too.

Mari Ono

Excellent service and delicious comfort food w/a creative twist.

Robert Hyde

Excellent food, great service, but pricy

AKI SEPER

Nice restaurant!! There is small portions in main menu. It was good for me. The service is very good and food is also very good.

L. Leong

Good cuisine, good ambiance. However, server should have been more personable considering that this is a fine dining establishment.

BeetleJuiceJohn

Great locally inspired cuisine with a high-end, yet casual environment. Prices can be a little high but generally the food warrants the cost. I like Roy's and recommend others go at least once to formulate their own opinion. I don't go often due to budget reasons but when planning a special occasions or celebratory meal, Roy's is always on the list of options.

The bartender .. Brian and others, were so gracious . They remembered us as frequent patrons and gave us upgraded appetizers and drinks when they felt food was taking too long. My favorite place for cocktails, which were amazing and food which was outstanding. We hung out at the bar for many nights through our visit. Best food on the island.

Richard Piekutowski

An amazing place to eat!

JP dG

A bit pricey, but definitely well worth it. Everything we ordered was delicious.

Jay Tee

This is Roy's, if it didn't have five stars I'd be concerned. The food was exceptional as was the service. Because the portions are so large my wife and I order just one of each; an appetizer, a salad, and an entree and this feeds the both of us and then some. Oh, don't forget dessert, the chocolate souffle is killer. Also, remember to tip the guy playing the guitar.

Naomi

Service was very attentive. The appetizer platter was filling and fun (5 different dishes with an Asian taste), and I especially liked the strawberry and mozzarella salad. I ordered the prociutto-wrapped scampi, which was also prepared well.

Hyedi Branch

This was a warm environment that offered good food. Great place for date night.

Rey Rey

Best service on the Island. They are unreasonably good at serving. Its always a pleasure to eat there like we did last night, celebrating my daughters 7th birthday and since its been her favorite restaurant since she was 3

Rashid Rodriguez

Had a business meeting here. Not only my first time at Roy's but also first time in Hawaii. This place lived up to the hype. I ordered the Surf and Turf (Ribye and King Crab). That was an amazing marinade they did in that steak. Perfectly cooked too.

Liana Wright

We had a delicious Valentine's dinner and enjoyed the prefixed menu they prepared!

Ed Fitz

Food is very good and unique. Service is excellent. If you don't have a reservation you can get a seat or a table downstairs. In the winter months you can watch the sunset around 6pm.

Heather Ellis

Amazing food, a great view, and wonderful service! I chose the option of tasting a bit of three of their fish dishes and I am so glad I did. They were all delicious, moist, and well seasoned with wonderful flavors! They also have wonderful desserts, one of which, the panna cotta, our server brought out to us for our anniversary.

朱珮瑄

Recommend to order the set menu, the fish is the best I ever had!

Mark Boisvert

At first hostess girls were very rude and I would fire them, but our waiter was great! The Prime Rib was the best I ever had! Would highly recommend the Prime RIb with gravy! Hostess girls refused to sell us water and sent us outside for water after walking over from Four Seasons in the heat! We almost left!

stephan edwards

One of my favorite places to go for amazing food and exceptional service.

Carl Valdez

Lets start with the dessert. EXCELLENT! I don’t know all of the desserts our party ordered, but I had the banana lumpia topped with ice cream and it was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. A few others got the chocolate lava cake. As for entrees, they were all excellent. Garlic prawns, mahi-mahi, rib eye steak, scallops, meat loaf, rack of lamb, sushi. Nothing disappointed. Even the kids meals looked like a professional prepared them. Edamame appetizers were a great touch. And did I mention the view!?! Nothing like it. Well worth the trip

Mary Dee

Soooo Ono! Fantastic food. Great service!

I am saddened that I can only give the original Roy's five stars... They probably deserve ten. Ignoring the fact that their location is not on the beach in Waikiki (which to me is possibly a plus), they are several notches in quality and service above that downtown location. We ate at both during our 10 day stay on Oahu and while they Waikiki location was quite lovely, the original Roy's in Hawaii Kai is simply astounding. Service is impeccable with just the right amount of attentiveness and friendliness. Every dish we tried was marvelous in presentation and creativity. My wife's only negative was that they unfortunately did not have any chicken dishes among their entrees on the night we dined there. And strangely, while we ordered whatever we wanted with no concern about the price, we spent considerably less at the original Roy's. Highly recommended.

Jonathan Pautler

Best meal in Hawaii. Fantastic service and delicious gourmet dinner. Everything here was 5 star!

Jayden Lee

Can’t wait to come back!

Susan Partin

The food was amazing. We had the ahi app, a couple of their sushi rolls, and a couple of desserts. Super delicious flavor combinations with great live music outside.

Steven K

Excellent! Very neat experience to dine at the Original Roy’s! We had a view of the sunset while indulging in butterfish and short ribs. All very nicely complemented with a chocolate soufflé for dessert.

Raz Berry

I love this place! Its Hawaii so its priced accordingly but the food and service were both great. Drinks and a sunset from the patio. Very nice.

Justin Ching

Delicious place to eat some Asian fusion with a local Hawaii twist. You can have a relaxing dinner outside with an ocean view or upstairs with the ocean. The food is great and you will be surprised with the flavors that come out.

Joel Kerben

Came specifically to the Original location while on vacation and was not disappointed. The service was impeccable, the food amazing and the ambiance was beyond expectations. I ordered Crispy Brussels Sprouts & Frisee along with the Zameer seafood collection and I highly recommend both.

Morgun Somerset

I've always wanted to go and check out Roy's, probably because it reminded me of upscale dining and something I should do once in my life. We ended up celebrating my 40th birthday and my brother & sister in law's wedding anniversary on the same evening, which was nice. We arrived here around 5:45pm and we had to go upstairs. We ended up sitting next to the window, which gave us prime seating for the ocean views and Kalanianaole Highway.

Bernadette Wilkins

Always a satisfying and pleasant experience. Roy's is a dependable place for a special occasion. The service is attentive and seamless with lots of people touching the table with designated jobs for each part of the meal. The staff is friendly, well trained, and always generous.

David Ford

Everything you would expect from fine dining. However, our waitress was exceptional. It was my first visit but attended with a local couple. The suggestions offered by our waitress Stacy were perfect and stretched my culinary comfort zone. She and her supporting staff were flawless. Great sunset views, amazing food and fantastic wait staff. Best fish dish I have ever had - butterfish. Amazing. The deserts are all top notch as well. Really good wine list. Like

Fred Wood

we've been to at least 6 different Roy's across the west and everyone has been excellent. we ordered from the prix fix menu-the portions were good sized and great-we'll be back. the only down side was being with many screaming children- parents teach your children how to behave in public.

Chris Miller

Fantastic food and atmosphere!

Mel On

Have not been back here for over 2-3 years and saw a few of the negative reviews. Glad I ignored them.... it's still a great place and worth the expense! I love misoyaki butterfish and Roy's does it perfectly! Would I like to pay less? Sure, but if you want it done right where the flavors are well balanced (not too salty, sweet nor sour), the fish texture is perfectly tender, the bones are completely cleaned out, and they add a light bed of black rice and sweet potato and wasabi sauce to decorate and supplement the flavors beside the main, then the price is right (it's actually a bargain if you consider their consistency and precision). I went there for dinner and they were busy and I could hear some of the chaos. But, I was not in a rush and from sit down to departure was 1.5 hours. So, Roy's is still the top of the charts for great food, great drinks, good service (be sure you're not in any hurry), good decor, and great place for a date, with good company or just for one. The desserts are excellent too.

Brad Espedal

Great food and service. Always dependable for a special night out. We also like the more casual downstairs bar and table seating areas for drinks and appetizers.

Steven Shimizu

The fathers day special menu was disappointing. The jumbo shrimp had no flavor, the cocktail sauce didn't help. The short rib was dry and flavor was too strong for my taste. The saving grace was dessert. Still disappointed meal for $85.

Travis Henrickson

Always great food and service.

Ben Casey

Best fish dish I had in Hawaii!

Larry Hellmann

Rather expensive. Small portions. Slow service.

Nathan

Great food and great service. You definitely need a reservation for this restaurant as it's a popular restaurant.

Joel Kerben

Came specifically to the Original location while on vacation and was not disappointed. The service was impeccable, the food amazing and the ambiance was beyond expectations. I ordered Crispy Brussels Sprouts & Frisee along with the Zameer seafood collection and I highly recommend both.

Josh Tseng

Aside from the amazing food we had amazing service and were very helpful in specific dietary restrictions.

Cheryl Johnson

Great choice for my last meal on the island.

Lani Day

I’m so sad to report that this place has gone way downhill. My family has been going to Roy’s for our yearly reunion dinner since I was 12. The service was always impeccable. We even once got profuse apologies and free dessert because the server set the wrong plates in front of two of us. (They literally just has to switch plates and they had their meal.) Plus, the food was always top notch. I personally love their scallops because they are always cooked perfectly and are served in a new and delicious way. They had this squid ink pasta with lemon cream sauce and kabayaki drizzle one time.... But the last time was awful. Just awful. I won’t bore you will the details, but to summarize, the service was poor (and kind of awkwardly inappropriate), the food was not delicious (and the prices were also jacked up by $10 a plate for any seafood), and we ultimately ended the night discussing where we would move our reunion dinner to for next year. Five stars for 25 years of amazing, and one star for last time.

Virginia Ung

Delicious evening. Excellent service and intimate small details for our anniversary (a special hello from Roy and details on our free dessert) Will happily attend again. The butterfish was amazing!

Kayera Kashmiri

The view was relaxing we had the appetizer for 2 crab cakes, ribs, rolls it was small portion but ever bite was magnificent. $$-$$$ .

Bobby Hockaday

Great food, nice atmosphere. The accoustics in the upper room were a bit tight. But I suppose we had a large party so that could not be helped? Eh, food was awesome and staff were attentive and friendly.

Michael Chung

Waitress and food service was awesome. Food was good.

Jeffrey Zheng

Havent tried the main food yet but their desserts are excellent. The lychee, mango, and Hawaiian Mix sorbets are all delicious. The chocolate lava cake is a classic, but my favorite is the Ube lava cake! I particularly like how the ube is not too sweet but still has a lot of the ube flavor!

Tashia Nelson

Good Karma is one of several beer-lover destinations in downtown San Jose, but it is unique in it's simple happieness. Order your premium beer, have it poured, and move on to enjoying a good drink. The beer selection is great without being overly expansive; the food is EXCELLENT without being distracting. The patio is quaint and perfect for people watching, catching up with friends, or enjoying the weather.

Michael Koehler

Wonderful atmosphere and food. Stephen Inglis was fantastic playing island infused music on the patio. Can't wait to come back!

Mr Del

Ordered a bunch of food from starters to mains and desserts. Was not used to the blue cheese on the steak, haha. Other than that, fantastic, ono-licious food!

David Tom

The setting and location are perfect for a wonderful meal. We found that the food served in this particular restaurant is better than the other one in the western side of the island. The service is always great. Be sure to sit outside with good weather.

Shawn McKenzie

Roy Yamaguchi's original Hawaii Kai is still one of the premier restaurant on Oahu. Food and services are exceptional and outstanding.

Candace Yap

My experience has always been great. Great food and great customer service.

D F

Always good but I miss the rack of spare ribs on the menu. Love those ribs. I miss them now but the baked chicken was very good.

Adam Stevens

Sad that a Hawaiian icon like Roy’s has become what it is. Way over priced for what you get. Feels like an airport restaurant experience. Head into the city, there’s some great new local restaurants popping up that are authentic, amazing and half the price.

Aaron Love

One of the best services on the island. Very attentive. Never had to ask for anything. They were on it. Pricey but not crazy. Awesome place

Dr Jackie Brown-Hitomi

Good food , busy place.. great for parties of 4 or more

Kamran Farzam

The food was the best I have ever had

Joshua Bosworth

We had a great dinner at Roy's. The three course meal was very well put together. Portion size was enough to be filling without being excessive. The staff was always present but never intrusive. Presentation was tasteful. Over all it was excellent execution of traditional cooking.

Leo Chan

The staff are nice but that's the same for everywhere in Hawaii. However the food is mediocre at best and if you factor in the price, the quality definitely misses the mark.

David Ford

Wonderful three course meal with wine pairing for our anniversary!

Massimiliano Valente

We were curious to try an authentic hawaiian interpretation of the modern cuisine. This restaurant seemed to be the right place to do so. The service was friendly. We went with the tasting menu (3 courses) with wine pairing at 70$. Not bad but a little bit confused and naive. We didn't understand the idea behind its cuisine.

Rachael Messmer

The Original Roy’s is not just a restaurant, it is a dining experience! The culinary staff sets the bar high with their exceptional flavors and presentation and the wait staff, hostess, and manager take customer service to a whole other level. Thank you for making my 5 year anniversary even more unforgettable! We can’t wait to dine with you again.

Kurt Chaltron

This place never disappoints. Its is definitely not the cheapest restaurant but completely worth it. My wife and I have repeatedly visited for special events as well as the restaurant's 30th anniversary. The Salmon with ponzu was fantastic. As well at the steamed kamachi with pesto. Highly recommend either

Sally Paris

Food and service are the best! Ashley was bartending, making us delicious drinks and engaging in fun conversation with us. Highly recommend the chicken spring roll appetizer and the green lava cake.

Davene Januszewski

The food is always top notch and beautifully prepared. The service is excellent if you don't mind a very loud, very busy, very crowded restaurant you'll love Roys - lots of activity and people.

Genie Hill

Love the pineapple martini!

Roys is or the discerning palate, delicious variety of fare, live music enhanced our time, a must to experience!

Syd Leung

Our favorite Roy's. We love the butterfish, short ribs, ribeye, i.e., pretty much everything on the menu.

Keawe Leong

The service was attentive and well timed without being obtrusive. Drinks were refilled and ordered items came at a good pace. We started with escargot, flat bread, and godzilla sushi and was not disappointed with any of them. The snapper was well done. Crispy on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside. The presentation was wonderful. Lamb rack came as ordered (medium) and seasoned well. It was a joy to eat. The other dishes ordered were great and enjoyed by all.

Charles Hughes

The flavors are unique and very good, but I felt that I could get far more authentic local cuisine at other places, and for much cheaper prices. I had the butterfish, which was a cod, so not at all local. The service was good. There wasn't anything special about the ambiance or experience to warrant the price.

Pam Campbell

Excellent dinner for 3 of us on vacation celebrating birthdays. Went with the prix fix menu and it did not disappoint. Swordfish with macadamia nut crust and chocolate shuffle, yum. The highlight of the evening (besides our food and drinks) was our wonderful server Stacy. Great evening enjoyed by all!

K Hale

Special occasion's favorite for the terrific food, sunset view, great service and open air kitchen atmosphere.

Pierre Duhaime

Most original restaurant we've been to in awhile. The sushi and Mai Tai were delicious, the pineapple upside down cake was very tasty, and the view was very beautiful.

Scott Klein

Always good food. Ono Mai Tai's.

Alicia Scott

I gave it five stars because the desserts are great and they have great service and food ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

pat batt

Roy's has been an awesome restaurant for at least 25 years. I was surprised to go back and find out it was as good as it ever was and maybe even better!

TheShaw Man

Amazing food you wont find anywhere else.

Brittany Traeger

Food and service was excellent. The view is beautiful. I ordered the butterfish which had many delicious flavors and a smooth texture. The meatloaf was also ordered at the table and was not as good. Must order fish or ribs when there. Aloha!!!

Jake Prevatt

It took our waiter 20 minutes to bring a menu and then another 10 for water. We decided to leave... Based off the menu you could find similar options at one of the many other restaurants on the island. Would not go back...

John Lipsey

Great food with a nice view. I ordered the spicy tiger prawns for my main course and they were fresh and flavorful. Appetizers and Mai Tai's were great, plus unlimited edamame and rolls.

Michael W

Great food! I got the Butterfish

Curt Naka

Had the beef and reef roll, escargot and crab cakes followed by the New Zealand rack of lamb with a bottle of cab...no better way to do Saturday with family!

Brandon Frazier

If I could give 10 stars I would!! Everything about our meal was fabulous!! We went to celebrate our Anniversary and everyone was extremely nice and courteous!!

Steven Chu

Delicious food, fun for a family or date night. Can be a little noisy. The views are amazing during sunset.

Juliette Siehien

Extremely over priced but worth it in food quality, service and venue.

Jason Hew

We had a great dinner there tonight. Food was great, service attentive without being overbearing, we didn't feel rushed, timing if the food was on point. All in all, a great evening with good friends.

Keala A

The wait staff is amazing. Wonderful ambiance. Went there for a 15 year anniversary dinner. We ain't together anymore but the good was excellent.

Dean Meintjes

This place is way fancier than the ones on the main land. Great view, great drinks and the food was incredible.

Matthew Fujimoto

Everyone has to eat here. The canoe is the best appetizer. Any of the sushi is awesome. Get the chocolate dessert. It's awesome. I've never had a bad dish.

I like the restaurant because is so nice and elegant decor, The food is so delicious and they has a good parking lot."

DIY Daily

Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was amazing! Would be 5 stars but we didn't get the table we put our reservation for

Katie Lewis

The ribs are bursting with an Asian BBQ flavor and are well sauced. The misoyaki butterfish has two options for portions: an entree and appetizer. The butterfish is tender, flavorful, and sits on a bed of black rice which has a slightly firm texture; beneath the rice is a creamy wasabi flavored sauce (not spicy).

NC Curry

We love spending our anniversary here each year. Amazing food and service.

Kevin Knowles

Welp, this is the best now the best seafood restaurant I've ever had the luxury of patroning. Seriously. Not easy on the wallet, but absolutely worth it. The crab cakes. Get the crab cakes. You'll thank me.

Anshul Gupta

Great martini ! I tried blackened ahi and crab cake and both were amazing.

Gurprit Gill

The food is alright. Service was through the roof. The staff here cater to your every needs. Best proactive service I have ever received at a restaurant.

Michael Weinberg

The food is amazing. The service is excellent and the setting and ambiance are excellent. They go the extra mile to make your dining experience something to remember. We love Roy's.

Jamie Che

Roy’s is worth a visit, just for the staff. Food is good location is great but the staff made our night!

Mike H

Good food, but expensive as heck...

I'm so conflicted about this review. I was joking with my wife before we went about some of the more unflattering reviews for Roy's because of how out of touch and 'eager to complain' they appeared to be. However, after leaving Roy's a solid $250 lighter than I arrived, I can say that it truly was as disappointing as most people here are saying. The positives were great, don't get me wrong. The waitstaff/hostess/visible cooking crew were extremely friendly and hospitable. The view was beautiful. The appetizers were pretty alright, although expensive. The drinks were reasonably priced, but not great. That's about as good as I can go, though, because everything else was just disappointing. My wife's 55 dollar steak was overcooked in almost a comedic fashion. I partly blame her because she wanted it medium (i mean, c'mon...), but what she got was well-done. I ordered a sampler of 3 different types of seafood (Scallops, Snapper, and Eel), and all 3 had almost no taste. The scallops basically tasted like flavorless sea-marshmallows. The Eel and Snapper were both bland as well. Although we could have complained at the time (my mistake not doing so), I think we were trying so hard to enjoy what we just spent a decent amount of money on that it didn't really set in until the evening wore on... I wouldn't normally be this harsh on a review, but honestly... our experience at Roy's was the most disappointing part of our entire vacation. I was shooting for something special for my wife. One big fancy meal that we'd talk about for years to come. We like to eat. Roy's came highly recommended so we thought it was a safe bet. Now we wish we'd just went to Outback next door.

Jeff Fishman

I have been here about 50 times. I have never had any other experience but excellent! Food, atmosphere and customer service is top notch. Besides the whole crew being professional and friendly, one individual stands out....Keola... He goes above and beyond to make your experience exceptional.

Clark Lowe

Fabulous as all of the others I have tried.

stacy charles

The food was amazing and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. This is a must on your vacation. No matter what you choose I think you can not lose. The wait staff was so friendly and I enjoyed my full experience.

Justin Anderson

Went to Hawaii recently my co worker brought me here. Food was good and of course the portion will not be hefty but we are pleased and satisfied with their atmosphere as well. One star less is because of the pricing and the portion u get I can’t justify it.

Eldwin Truong

Nice pretty food but pricey.

*Great Food *High Quality Food *Highly Recommended *We would definitely return *Great Service *Seating is a little to tight We had eleven of us come here for our parents/grandparents 60th Anniversary and the service was absolutely fantastic. They paid very close attention to detail and our food was absolutely amazing and delicious, they gave our parents/grandparents a nice card and a delicious passionfruit desert that we all were able to try and they also gave them a gift certificate. I would definitely return to this establishment all their food was just perfect. The only thing we all notice is how the tables were all packed in the restaurant very tightly and it was a bit loud and difficult to talk with our party, our assumption is that because the food is the best on the island and this helps keep long waits down to a minimum. *we only had to wait for about five minutes to be seated, we did have a reservation.

Robert Kaleikula

Amazing food and impeccable service definitely a must do in Hawaii!

Denise Mazzanti

Relaxed atmosphere, great views, delicious menu.

Lauren Benjamin

PERFECT DINNER! This restaurant deserves more than 5 stars. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top notch. We went to celebrate our anniversary and were greeted with a card to celebrate. The table had stunning views and out server was so sweet. We both had the Sunset Pua Hana pre fixe menu and all the courses were just fabulous. Before leaving we were given a gift to celebrate our anniversary of $25 off our next visit. It was all the little touches in addition to the outstanding food that makes this restaurant a hands down favorite. If you are in Oahu, you must eat here. You will be so pleased you did!!

Ron Zap

...Excellent fine dining with excellent service and friendly staff, deserves more than 5 stars. I give this place 100 stars...

Food, atmosphere, was lovely. Staff was absolutely perfect and wonderful EXCEPT for the hostess named KIANA. I called to say we would be late for our reservation and she put me on hold for 10 minutes. When I hung up and called back because I had to, Kiana picked up and I said "I was on hold for 10 mins so I called back." She didn't apologize or anything as if it wasn't her fault. When we came to check in, "Kiana" at the front looked so busy (I'm rolling my eyes sarcastically while writing this) playing with ribbons. Then as we left, we heard her talking to her friend on the phone. We said thank you and she turned around as if to ignore us. I thought the hostesses' job was to be polite, greet, and say goodbye to everyone as they came and left? Her LOW CLASS behavior greatly decreased the quality and prestige of Roy's.

David -Hawaii

Gorgeous views of Maunalua Bay at sunset while outrigger canoes glide by. The meal was delicious but the serving size was small and the prices high. E.g. The fried calamari bowl had a lot of greens and only a few calamari rings. But loved the flavor. My blackened ahi ( ordered large portion ) and rice were small....but incredibly tasty. Fine service.

Didn't like the short ribs but the rest of the food was great, service is outstanding too

This is the first Roy's and as far as we're concerned the best by far. They keep upping their game with great new dishes, the service is first class, and if you choose your mealtime well you can enjoy a sunset view that will take your breath away. Oh, yeah, and the parking is free and easy!

Food was terrible, service was terrible

Donald Tierney

Smallish portions. Noisy. Crowded. Cramped.

Robert Lloyd

Wonderful meal, great service, fair price. Full rack of ribs for $30...YUM!

Guys if you have never been to Roy's restaurant before you are missing out on a whole lot of real genuine local food. Roy's is one of the best restaurants on this island - food is a bit on the expensive side and the portion are a bit small but you are getting great food in return.

I'm giving them a high rating even though our butter fish was not very good which they replaced. I've enjoyed their menu for years and I will go back. We've enjoyed their seafood and steaks since they first opened in Honolulu and in Phoenix at the Desert Ridge! They are high on my list for seafood and steaks!

Jill Tabata

The best restaurant in the world! The most Aloha too.

Lynn Bickley

Wonderful Prix fixe 3 course dinner paired with wine. Best meal I've had in a year.

Good

Very good restaurant with fantastic views. The shrimp cocktail is bland and the salads can use a bit more flavors but the sushi and fish entrees are OMG AMAZING!! I really love how fresh everything is and the presentation is always so beautiful.

One of my most favorite restaurants. Food is always great!

I have been here about 50 times. I have never had any other experience but excellent! Food, atmosphere and customer service is top notch. Besides the whole crew being professional and friendly, one individual stands out....Keola... He goes above and beyond to make your experience exceptional.

Gave it only 4 stars because service was iffy. For a supposed 5 star restaurant I was disappointed in service. The food was excellent but came out slowly. There were long waits between food items neing delivered to table.

Dave Carr

Yes, it is the original. However, it has lost some of its magic. I have come here almost every time I am in Honolulu. Recently, the choice of preparation of the "white fish" dishes have been pedestrian. The other dishes are still very good. Portions are larger than most Honolulu high end restaurants. It is not cheap, but good never is.

We were trying to find a worthy place in Honolulu. Our main purpose was to enjoy a good romantic night with even better tasty local hawaiian food. Definitely disappointing. We did the $70 menu accompanied with wine (only one glass, no way to repeat it) and honestly, it was frustrating... We expected somewhat better. On top of that, white fish was horrible. Tasted like chicken, literally. First course is a robbery, half spring roll, bad lobster and extra oiled baby pork rib (you can find way better ones in another franchise..) Service was good, thanks god. We will never come back

VJ

Best made sushi and ambiance on Oahu.

Lynn Maunakea

My husband and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary at Roy's last night and it was memorable. The service the food and the ambiance were high quality. I'm so glad we selected Roy's for our celebration.

Stopped here for dinner and was not disappointed. Got two steak plates and only wanted rice with one of them. Food was very good and they have no problem giving you extra salad if you don't want rice. Steak was tender and the view of the sunset made it a great visit

Myles Hirtreiter

Amazing service

Sonny and Bev Parker

Excellent food and service. Crab cakes, Miso Butterfish and Blackened Ahi were delicious as was the dark chocolate souffle. Wait staff was attentive while unobtrusive.

Our favourite place to visit for a treat when in Hawaii. Chef Roy is a super nice and humble gentleman. Staff are friendly, food is absolutely delicious (highly recommend the butterfish) and ambience quintessentially Japanese Hawaiian deluxe.
