I took a drive out to The Sunset Smokehouse it was about a twenty minute drive from Kapolei. I had never been here before and didn't know what to expect. There were a few people ahead of me. I was given a sample of the brisket it was very good and based on that I decided to go all in. I got the brisket, it was really good and I haven't had better. I bought 2lbs of the pork ribs mmmm good, I got some pulled pork, what a delight, jalapeno sausage and drove home as fast as I legally could to eat. I also had some very good pinto beans, hill country slaw, sweet rolls and sliced onions with pickles. The food was packaged very nicely in foil trays. I was not able the get the beef ribs because they were completely sold out via pre orders. You can pre order your food two days in advance. I recommend that you pre order via their website or call via phone to be sure to get what want. They have a large truck but they can only carry so much food. It is safe to order sight unseen because everything is very good. They don't have parking so you should come a little early as street parking is available. I will return to this food truck many times, I am on a diet and it will be alot harder for me to stay on it because of this food truck!!!

If you want real Texas BBQ in Hawaii, this is the truck you want to find. They are also opening a storefront in Wahiawa. The owner is super friendly. We would drive from our apartment in Honolulu all the way up to Sunset Beach where he would be parked to just get some of his brisket. Make sure you get the moist, marbled brisket because that has the best flavor. My wife enjoyed their pork but i would say their best stuff is definitely the brisket.

Freaking AMAZING, got the brisket and it was outstanding. Tender, flavorful and great portions melting in your mouth. Sides are just as great with everything you would expect from a Texas BBQ joint. Come early, they sell out quick and close when it is gone. I doubt they stay open past 1 pm often!

The best BBQ I have ever had!!!! The pull pork has just the right amount of tangy and sweet flavors. The sauce tastes homemade and not the usual BBQ in the can (yuck). Slider is on point as they oil and heat the bun. The slaw in it is amazing too !!!!!!!!!!! Below is the 4 dollars pull pork slider.

Bomb Brisket! Great BBQ! A must stop place in Wahiwa. I dare say it's one of the best on the island! They wont sauce your meat, you leave that disgraceful habit to your self!

Awesome bbq, the pulled pork sandwich anyway. Good amount and awesome flavor. I had bbq to everything but it was amazing without it. Worth the drive. My wife loves the brisket. Can really taste that smoke flavor. Parking kinda sucks , it is a food truck. I just parked at jack in the box and got a drink so they couldn’t tow me. UPDATE: If your car is lowered DO not park there you will jack everything up.

My favorite BBQ spot on the island. The brisket and ribs were amazing. The pulled pork was also good but the brisket and ribs will make you babe the traffic to travel back to that side of the island.

Absolutely the best place on Oahu for brisket. This is the closest thing there is than actually being in Texas when it comes to brisket and it is absolutely delicious. I haven't gotten around to trying anything else but from the way the brisket is prepared, I'm sure all the other craft meats on the menu are just as good. So for now, I can only truly vouch for the brisket, but if you love brisket like I do, then you will love it from Sunset Smokehouse. Make sure to go early or risk not getting what you want because he does sell out.

Sunset Smokehouse has very good BBQ. So far, I've had the brisket, which you can order lean or fatty, and the pulled pork. Both are excellent. All the sides I've tried so far have also been delicious. Creamed corn, potato salad, slaw, beans. It's all good. We make the drive out to Wahiawa regularly just for the food. And we're from Kaneohe... They usually sell out by 3pm so I recommend going there early. Follow their IG if you want to make sure they're open before heading to Wahiawa.

Fantastic authentic Texas BBQ (without having to wait hours in line)! Service was excellent too -- we (and others) got a mini free sample of burnt ends and ribs. All the food was amazing. Brisket (we got half fatty half lean) was perfectly smoked and juicy. Pulled pork and the ribs were also really good, I liked it with a bit of the spicy sauce. Creamed corn was a bit different than I was used to, but also very good. Highly recommend Sunset Smokehouse.

Some of the best BBQ on the island. Highly recommend getting there early, I've attempted to find the truck at events and it's usually sold out by the time I get there. They are open on weekends in Wahiawa and supposedly open a store not soon enough. I just returned from a trip to NC so there was a little sticker shock for brisket sandwiches, I'm big on keeping things under $10 for grab and go food. And the single serving of pinto beans for $3 was a bit (1.50 IMHO) pricey. Keeping them at 5 stars for quality and flavor. Price might hurt just a bit. Will definitely go back when in the area.

We actually didn't know this was Texas bbq. We added a stop for food un kit GPS on the way back to our hotel. When I opened the fr9dooe to the restaurant in my mind I said this smells like home "Texas for me". When I looked up at the menu and board sure enough he was from my home town of Austin. They only had brisket left which was fine by me. It was the best brisket I've ever had; extremely moist. If you have ever visited the local BBQ joints in Austin and surrounding areas. I would definitely say he would give them a run for their money.

I'm glad we found this place because now we have a BBQ spot we can go to when we're craving southern style BBQ. They're only Fri thru Sun, so for the week go-ers don't show up any days before that, like we did. Lol Upon arrival, the parking was HECTIC, but we ended up parking down the street at an apartment complex that offered free parking. The food is sold either by a half pound or full pound and can get pretty costly. For the items pictured plus 3 drinks, our total came out to $61 and some change. The customer service wasn't that great, but the food does speak volumes. The brisket meat to fat ratio is spot on and it's very moist and buttery. The ribs were good, if you like dry rub type ribs. I, myself prefer wet and sauced ribs, and unfortunately that's where they fell short. The sauces provided at the table are too watered down and didn't quite have that Texas Mop sauce flavor to it... but I prefer more of a Kansas City thick type sauce where it sticks to the ribs. The ATX slaw was on the sour side instead of being "creamy and peppery." But overall, this was a good find other then the minor blemishes we found being that we've tried BBQ in the South, midwest, and west coast of the states... this place still serves BBQ reminiscent of my time in Texas.

I’ve had bbq from Sunset Smokehouse three times in one month! That’s how good it is! They recently catered my daughter’s birthday party this past weekend and it was a huge hit. Everyone wanted to take home the leftovers. I’ve had bbq from all over the mainland, and this is seriously the best. There is no need to smother their meats in sauce (although they have some if that’s your preference). The meats are tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I’ve had their brisket, pulled pork, and sausage... all amazing! If you haven’t tried it, take the drive to Wahiawa and do it. You will not be disappointed!

Dropped in here desperately searching for an open food truck amidst the Sunday night storm... obviously other people had had a similar idea as he was out of nearly everything but he kindly gave us the last few brisket sandwiches (more like brisket burgers) and a few sides on the house. The sandwiches outdid all our expectations. I don’t typically love Texan bbq but this sandwich was pretty tasty! Plus the guy running the joint was super friendly, and was sticking it out through the storm. Thanks a heap for saving us from having a terrible gas station dinner!!
