The cabbage sauce was out the world! It is a bit bizarre that a main entree would be cabbage, but they pair so well together. We had the lunch pre-fix and all 3 of us tried different dishes. The food came out and looked too pretty to eat! The dishes we had were very tasty, not too salty (as some places oversalt), and the portions were spot on for the price. Great place to get a nice lunch in with great company. Sorry didn't snap a pix of the lunch menu, but here are the dishes. App was a "Poke" cracker, taste fresh and the crisp added a great texture contrast to the fish, first dishes were Tako, Beef Tartare, and the Kale & Quinoa salad - all were phenominal! Main dishes were Porchetta, ahi burger, and I think a chicken burger - again, very tasty and not too salty! All of these came with side of home fries which were really well cooked, crunchy outside and the inside was moist (careful not to eat it too fast because it was really (temp) hot) Finally desserts - Senia cookie w/ a cream and Ice cream and a Iemon bar with a cream/mousse. Lemon bar was not too tart, the cookie was real moist and consisted of PB and Chocolate. Very refreshing way to end a meal.

Clean, wonderfully tasty dishes. The cookie for dessert was good, but my favorite was the venison tartare. Close 2nd was my ahi burger. Might seem pricey for a lunch, what a way to give yourself a special treat.

Absolutely the most amazing restaurant with an amazing chef Chris and amazing staff♡♡♡ A hidden gem in downtown Chinatown ♡ Updated 1.10.19 still one of my favorite places to eat. Always amazing and several times I have come back and still blown away with the creations and combination of flavors. Tonight we had smoked ahi brioche, cabbage croquettes, hamachi, tako, duck confit, beretta, souffle cheesecake lilikoi dessert that knocks your socks off! We loved our service and especially Martin was the best server I've ever had!!! Love chef Chris as per usual, he is truly amazing♡ much aloha!

Exceptional food and service! Senia is a simply wonderful dining experience. It is personable and unpretentious, while offering an incredibly well thought out and spectacularly excited executed menu. We ordered the oysters, poke crackers, cabbage, tako, scallops, a risotto special and mushrooms. The scallops were the best I've ever had and everything we ate was wonderful. The dessert menu was awesome too! The cocktail and beer list are large enough to have something for everyone and wine is available in 2oz and 5oz pours so you can a lot of different things. This is the best dinner I've had on the island and ranks among the very best I've had in my life. We'll be back.

Eating at Senia was definitely an organismic experience for the palate. No wonder it is one off Barrack Obama’s favorite restaurant in Hawaii. We had a wine pairing and tasters menu. I would highly recommend it. The sommelier did a fabulous job with the wine pairing, I won’t forget my evening and supper for the rest of my life!

Our best dinner of the year so far!! Senia was outstanding and exceeded our expectations! We went for the ala carte option on a Mon night and sat at the counter so we can see the chefs at work. I loved my 007 refreshing cocktail, and these were incredibly memorable and delicious: chicken liver mousse with financier (order extras!!), beef tartare, and ulu cream puff dessert. Just so innovative and full of flavor! I’d come back to dine in a heartbeat!

Went in for a weeknight a la carte dinner and was not disappointed. Shared 5 small plates and a dessert which was very ample and gives you a great window to see the kitchen without the need for the pricier tasting menu. There's plenty of finesse in the food here without being too elaborate. The dishes were all approachable, great produce, and cooked to precision with some clever plays on familiar flavour combinations.

I cant say enough good things about Senia. This was by far the highlight of my recent trip to Hawaii and one of the best meals I have ever had. My family and I had the pleasure of sitting at the chef's counter and we got to watch the kitchen work as we enjoyed our meal. The food is made to be shared which is great because you can try more dishes (they all were fantastic). The staff here was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, they all made us feel very comfortable. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, yet feels relaxed and not stuffy at all. We also had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Chef Anthony Rush who was very kind and made for an unforgettable night. Do yourself a favor and eat here as soon as you can. I know my wife and I already want to go back to Honolulu for the single purpose of enjoying another night at Senia.

They take a modern twist on a lot of Asian cuisine so I def recommend to anyone craving an unconventional Asian inspired meal. First time I went there couple years ago, my husband and I ordered almost everything on the menu and loved it all. This time, went with hubs and 3 other friends for a bday. Last minute reservation but we were able to get us in 2 days later at 8:30.

Appetizers were out of control - BBQ beets and charred cabbage. The triple king salmon was perfect. Exquisite. Service was attentive and kind. A must visit.

We originally wanted to sit at the Chef's Counter for Senia's tasting menu, but having to pre-pay with a no cancellation/changes policy for my group of four didn't seem like a good bet to me so we opted for their dining room. I love the restaurant's space with built in booths along the mixed decor walls and the simple neutral color palette. It's pretty, modern, and sophisticated. I like that it's not stuffy so while it's an ideal venue for a date night, it's equally a great choice for an any-night dinner out...except Sunday night. They are closed. We were eager to order a bottle of wine, but the wine director suggested we look over the menu and decide what we would be ordering first. After we decided on the oysters, poke crackers, salmon, kampachi, pork belly, foie gras, and bone marrow custard we asked for his recommendation on a nice pinot noir. Both the wine and the food were excellent. My favorites were the poke crackers, bone marrow custard, and kampachi. We ended our meal with the sticky toffee cake and some Kona coffee from Kona Coffee Purveyors (my fave!). I admit if you give me good wine and company I'll have a good time, but I sincerely enjoyed my experience at Senia. The food is original and the service was warm. I left wanting to shout from the rooftops for everyone to, "Dine at Senia! You will love it!!!" Instead, I settled with a facebook post and plans to take my husband. What the heck; yolo. Dine at Senia! You will love it! :D

Lunch is much more affordable than dinner. The food is actually amazing. I don't always enjoy fancy for the sake of being fancy, but the taste of the food is on point and the decorations are modern. The carrot cake mochi is fantastic.

The most amazing flavors and textures in a dish I've ever had combined with the hands-down best service we've ever had and I will continue to recommend this restaurant to everyone I know. I wish I could give them more stars. First, quick shout out to our server, Martin. He was fun and bright and gave us recommendations on his favorite dishes (most of which we tried and he has my utmost trust from now on). We started off with the ahi brioche which is not a menu item, but is apparently popular on their social media. It is AMAZING. Its ahi and an avocado on a homemade brioche and it explodes with flavor in your mouth. Absolutely incredible and you must try this if they have it. The burrata was recommended to us by Martin and I wasnt sure if i would like it at first, but Im happy to say that I was so wrong. Saltiness from the goopy melty cheese, sweetness from the raisin puree and the truffle honey all over crunchy bread? That's hard to beat. I found myself enjoying it more and more with every single bite. The charred cabbage is one of their signature dishes and very popular across social media. While this was also incredibly delicious for being a chunk of cabbage (make sure to drag it across as much of the sauce as you can), it was not my personal favorite. Maine Sea Scallops. Incredible. They're soft on the inside. Crunchy on the tops and with the sauce and all of the accoutrements in one spoonful, it'll blow your mind. Casoncelli with escargo and burgundy truffle shavings. This was one of my favorite pasta dishes of all time and definitely one of my favorites here. The pasta is cooked perfectly and the potatoes inside are delicious. This was my first foray into escargot and it was very very good. Everything sits in truffle and bacon oil and its a very rich dish overall. The souffle cheesecake with the lilikoi marshmallows and the lime-avocado (its amazing) sorbet just all melts before it can hit your stomach. It's impossibly light. The Freddie cocktail with the massive block of blood orange ice was so good. Definitely give that a shot. Parking is found in the municipal lot in Marin Tower on Smith Street. It tops out at $3 so its quite reasonable.

So when I made a reservation I used their website and chose specifically ‘counter’ but today the host led us to table seating. I immediately asked her about ‘counter’ seating and a manager lady (short and dark hair) came out and said it’s not available today. (Of course with no explanation). She rudely added both counter and table seating serve the same food (Apparently she doesn’t know why people choose counter seating over table seating). She did say sorry though but her face and attitude weren’t saying sorry at all. I’ve been enjoying Senia’s food last few times but today is one of the most unpleasant dining experience I ever had.

Inventive Food, Attentive Staff, Comfortable Environment. Overall great meal. We had the Chef's Table special meal, limited to 8 people per night. You pay the full price including tax and tip in advance when you make the reservation, like you pay in full in advance for a concert. Wine parings available for the meal as an option. Favorite restaurant in Oahu! We were lucky enough to snag a last minute reservation for a table of 2 on Wednesday dinner in April just two nights before the date. Both chefs were out of town (boo) so we couldn’t do the tasting menu but dinner was still extremely delicious and memorable! We ordered 5 dishes to share plus a dessert. Drinks were wonderfully crafted as well and you can’t go wrong with any of the cocktails. Highlights: Roasted bone marrow - I’m not normally a bone marrow fan but this was AMAZING paired with the perfectly buttered bread *drool Charred cabbage- never thought I would be so excited for cabbage but the flavors in this dish blended together so well I was craving more after we finished Wagyu beef- a bigger portion intended to be shared- this was the best wagyu we’ve tasted.. outside of Japan so definitely splurge on it if you’re here already This restaurant was definitely better than some of the Michelin’s we’ve had so I’m definitely making this a mandatory stop every time we’re in Oahu!

Perhaps the best restaurant in the state. Intimate. Top tier cuisine that outshines most Michelin stared restaurants I've eaten at. Very personalized and informed service. Simply flawless. I also love that Senia transcends the prix fixe inflexible 3, or 4 dish format. Instead, you can create your own combination with as many and varied small plates as you care to try. Not a dud on the menu. I can't wait for my next visit. Reservations essential.

Went for restaurant week and had they set menu. The foie gras, bone marrow, and the steak were underwhelming. However the casconelli, charred cabbage, and cheesecake were amazing! Would go again to order off the menu ala carte to try a variety of things. A new place run by the chef who used to be at Vintage Cave. Expect to pay $40-80 per head. Ambiance is great and the food is fantastic. Favorite dish overall was the chicken liver mousse on financier, but unexpectedly the charred cabbage was flavorful and balanced. Only negative was the waitstaff outfit: loose white T-shirt? Didn't seem to match everything else and stuck out.

First time visitor to the restaurant. I must say, it's a bit pricey but what the heck! The food and flavors of the sauces were awesome. The waitress recommended that we start with the snacks, plates then a shared plate. All of the food that we ordered was awesome. If you are a meat lover, the Wagyu ribs is a must try. It definitely melts in your mouth. Great food and service . Definitely will go back.

Where do I start - We are here on holidays and all the reviews said this was the place to try. (Quick recap if you don’t want to read full review) Dinner was plesant but dishes were nothing amazing and service was lacking. Considering the reviews I was expecting big things and unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype ....or price! We ordered 8 dishes from the menu, all to share between 4-people.When ordering the server mentioned two specials. There was also a larger plate on the menu marked, market price, which I enquired about the price. When we ordered the risotto specially the server didn’t think to tell us it was truffle and $60 a plate! Shortly after we had 4 of the 8 dishes on the table. We had to ask our server to slow down, we’d only been in the restaurant 20min. They slowed down with the service after we asked, to allow us to enjoy each dish. Not all dishes pictured.

My wife and I had dinner for our 35th wedding anniversary here. We had flown in to the islands from the mainland and were hoping to find a nice restaurant to have dinner. Senia was suggested by a relative and it was amazing. This gem has an open kitchen where you can watch these talented people put together a meal unlike you have ever had. The shared dishes are three or four bite per person exquisite dishes. Ordering three or four dishes for the two of us was perfect. The waitstaff never bothers you but they always know exactly when to place the next dish or take away the last empty plating. They are prepared to answer any and all questions and you can tell that they are as pleased to serve there as the chefs are to be culinary artists and we were to partake of one of our all time favorite meals. If you miss this one you need to return to the islands to make it a must.

We ordered a starter, 3 shared plates, a side, and a dessert for under $90 for two people. Great value for food from chefs who honed their craft at Per Se. The luau pig croquettes were outstanding. They were crispy on the outside, and flavorful on the inside (also molten hot too). The standout has to be the crab bucatini, which had a great seafood flavor and the crab meat was generously portioned. If the molten chocolate dessert is available, get it.... Though the cake was good, I can eat that ice cream with macadamia brittle all day.

One of the best dining experiences my husband and I have had. We always make a point of visiting James Beard restaurants (whether nominated, finalists, etc). Senia's food, ambiance, and service were pure perfection. We ordered "Poke" Crackers to start - beautiful presentation, light crunch of the cracker and smooth tuna. We also indulged in the Kalua Pork & Cabbage Croquettes which were tasty but the sauce is what really made them. The Tako was cooked perfectly! We've tried octopus at a number of restaurants (including other JBs) and this was by far the best. Last, my absolute favorite was the scallops. These were heaven. Buttery, savory and a pure piece of art. To top off the perfect food, we had remarkable service. The waiter was attentive and friendly but allowed my husband and I enough space to truly enjoy our time with each other.
