I am only giving 4 stars because it was crowded when we went. It was probably due to the cruise ship being in port but other than that this place was wonderful. We had the pork and ono. Both were delicious. The staff was very kind and all working very hard to accommodate everyone. The open air dining was also a plus to enjoy the nice weather outside.

My husband and I went here for drinks and dinner, it was delicious! Big portions and reasonably priced. My husband loved the pineapple pow and the pineapple mojito is refreshingly sweet. Excellent service, highly recommend!

Great service. My drink kept getting refilled without my having to say a word or glance up. Food was well plated, high quality and VERY tasty. Menu was varied and the ambiance was nice. Loved it there!

Good food in a great location. They have daily specials and live music on Fri. Seems like lots of tourists were here but still gave off a very local vibe. Prices were fair and staff was adequate. Their house pineapple ale was not quiet as good as I had hoped and wasnt the coldest. Would definitely go again.

Amazing food, amazing service and live entertainment was superb! Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting the island to try! Had the island tacos, finance had the pineapple burger and we both agree that it's some of the best food we've had on the island! Hilo has better food by far than Kona, def worth the drive, esp if you're already that direction for the National Volcano Park. We also had the Pineapple Wow drink and it was amazing! We were also stoked that they had Ace Pineapple Cider as that's a fave of ours on the mainland!

I think pineapples has the best atmosphere in Hilo. The restaurant itself is covered, but it is open to the outside. The food is good and the prices are generally good. Most of the food has a pineapple aspect to it in one way or another. If that's what you like this is the place for you!

Great food and service. The food was delicious, but we were disappointed in the cost of one of the more expensive meals. It was ravioli with shrimp. There were 3 ravioli, and 3 shrimp, for $24. That seemed very overpriced. The pineapple drink, that came inside of a pineapple, was so good.

I am always wary when a place advertises their tropical drinks, "mixology", etc. more prominently than their food. My wife talked me into going here because of their reviews. Fantastic restaurant. Large menu with unique versions of several basics. Usually that's bad, but Pineapples versions are well executed. Everyone's meal was great. The cheese ball appetiser is a standout among cheese balls / croquettes. I can't remember having nachos that were better (real cheese, quality beans and surprisingly positive addition of pickled jalapenos in the guacamole). Fish and chips were great with quality fish and a light, almost tempura, batter. Tartar sauce was right on: caper-based rather than pickle-laden. Barbeque pork sandwich had beautifully rendered, rich meat. Its commercial onion bun did not hold up well, which is a pet peeves of mine, but my son didn't mind. The prices were very good for Hawaii and incredibly reasonable for this quality of food in this type of restaurant in Hawaii. The guy playing music was a pleasant addition rather than an annoyance. Last thing: those tropical cocktails are worth advertising. Not cheap and a little gimmicky if you opt for a pineapple-contained version, but delicious. Pina colada's flavor and texture did not lag behind its grand presentation. Next time I'm in Hilo, I will definitely eat here again.

We ate here 2/2 nights that we were in Hilo. Tacos and the pineapple curry were exquisite and the service was top notch. Even though it looked like there was a long wait, we were seated very quickly. I would definitely recommend this place.

The reviews are accurate- this place is incredible! One block from the ocean, open air seating, and a fresh, inspiring menu. I got the classic pulled pork w/fresh pineapple and a tropical coleslaw, sweet potato fries on the side. Drink of choice: pineapple mojito—refreshing and not too sweet. Great service too! Definitely recommend.

Great service. This place gets busy so for big parties you might need to wait. I had the special pepperoni pizza burger with a pineapple beer (I think that's what it's called) and my wife had the shrimp tacos and to wash it down a spicy bloody Mary.

Excellent experience for lunch! Our server, Linnsey, was amazing!! She was so attentive and social! I had the Fish Sandwich (Ono) and had it beer battered and fried! It, along with the special hard seltzer that was featured on draft, was an excellent choice for lunch! Can’t wait to return on my next trip to Hilo!

This place is fantastic. The ambience is perfect - quintessential small, beachside, exuberantly fun restaurant. The seating is cozy but the dining area enjoys two open walls to let the breeze flow. The staff is very helpful, fun, and friendly. The drinks are unique and delicious, particularly the signature one served inside a whole pineapple. Though it may seem touristy, it is whimsical and they execute it with local flair. I will be back.

The atmosphere is cool, the food is decent, the price is usually $30-$40 per person. While all the food is acceptable, there has been nothing I have eaten here to rave about. I really like the art on the walls, the live music, and the scenery, it almost makes up for the food being just food.

My wife and I truly had some of the most amazing food we've ever eaten. We ordered the purple sweet potato ravioli and the coconut encrusted catch of the day, which happened to be ono, and both were superb. They had such an fantastic depth of flavor that lingered on the tongue without being overpowering. It is all open aired, so it won't help you escape the heat, and is so popular that the noise levels make it less than intimate, but I would recommend everyone coming here and eating either, or both, of these two dishes.

The food was good, but just a tad overpriced - there are other restaurants in Hilo that are just as good and slightly more affordable, but the quality itself was very good. Atmosphere is very nice, and the appetizers were very tasty (particularly the mushrooms). Staff was attentive and friendly.

This restaurant is very open and has a pretty nice view. The pupus are unique in flavor as Well as style. This picture is the nochos. You will see that the sauce is not ordinary. The bar is well stocked and the bartenders were very nice. We talked story and their service was great.

Ordered Pineapple Pow, Hilo Local Plate and Pineapple Burger. Pineapple Pow looks interesting but the taste is just ok. Hilo local plate is on the fatty side, especially for the short ribs. I enjoyed my pineapple burger, but mostly for the beef. IMO, it's a nice place to have meal if it's along your route.

Pretty Disappointing. I was excited to come here based on all the great reviews. However, the food took a very long time and was not very filling and bland once it arrived. The upside to this place is it is nice to sit and enjoy the open air. *My last visit was in June 2018 a lot can change in that time.

Great food, great atmosphere, great music on a Sunday night!! Be sure to get a dish that includes either pineapple or the garlic mash potatoes. The in house beer Pineapple Golden Ale (PGA) is light and well flavoured. I am sure any other night it would have been a 5 star experience, but it took 10 mins to get a menu after being seated, another 10 for an order. We ended up having to get our own cutlery, and our drinks we're never refilled and we were never checked on. Ended up paying cash after waiting another 5-10 mins after getting the bill and waiting to pay by credit card. I know with all the issues it sounds like a 2 star experience, but that's just how good the food, music and atmosphere are. Even bought a CD from the in house musician that night.

Amazing place! Best food in the island. My husband and I got the teriyaki steak appetizer and after we shared a local Hilo plate and it was awesome! We were super full because the portion is pretty big so you can definitely share and it was totally delicious. The staff is super friendly and the live music makes the place really fun! We look forward to come some other time before we leave!!

This place is great! Great ambiance, good decor and plenty of seating at the bar. We had the sautéed king mushroom appetizer. This dish was amazing. The bartender was extremely friendly. He gave us tips on hiking and places to explore on Hilo. He even recommended other places to drink. He was so great that we came back later that night to have another drink at the bar!

Great place. We loved our dinners here. We ate here twice. The clam chowder is one of the best we’ve had. The seafood pasta was great and so were the steamer clams. The second night we had the ribeye which was great but not as good as the first night’s dinner.

No air conditioning. Seating is limited and crammed. The menu is all over the place. We couldn't even get two glasses of water when we sat down. Then one had ice and another didn't? Seemed like she was pouring warm water. Between that, the lack of service, and the crammed seating wasn't even worth trying the food. Very disappointed.

If I was rating just the drinks and ambiance, it would be a solid 5 STARS. The staff was super awesome and friendly. They got our party of four in on a small top but then allowed us to combine two tables when the party next to is finished so we could spread out. They had a local artist performing who is really good. It is also open air which was refreshing which prevented the noise level from being over bearing. We had the Pineapple POW both with and without alcohol and both were AMAZING. The food was good but I thought it was a little overpriced which is why I only gave it 4 stars. The lettuce cups were ok, we all agreed that they would be better if we would have added chicken. They only one that didn't have a good time was my wallet!
