I understand there are lot of five star reviews for Pai. Unfortunately, we didn't experience one & neither did my friends who visited a week prior to celebrate their birthdays. Our separate experiences had one thing in common... SALT. Heavy on salt in most of the dishes we had. The dishes are beautiful, but the taste was so salty. I wished our server asked us once how the food was. She never did. We would definitely have told her. Pai being a new restaurant at the Harbour Court, you want it to succeed. Not many restaurants do in this location. But unfortunately, the tiny portions, deconstruct this, deconstruct that & the saltiness won't be inviting us back anytime soon. The atmosphere is pretty, however, the servers do make you feel you should be at your best behavior since they're constantly changing your dinner & silverware -- even ones that weren't used. I hope Pai's food improves... Good Luck!

Excellent place for lunch. Luv the Cioppino.

Absolutely incredible dining experience. Expertly crafted entree items and amazing specialty cocktails! The timing was slightly off between courses and leaves something to be desired from a few service aspect. Otherwise, incredible time.

Finally open for lunch!! We had the most amazing meal! The 90 day dry aged burger was absolutely delicious as well as the risotto and the most delightful rice cake dessert. Great value and reasonably priced for the quality and quantity. Everything is made in house including the bread and chips! Will be going to lunch there regularly and will be taking out for our dinner too! Which is what I did today so no cooking for me tonight.

A beautiful place to go on a very special occasion or if your a foodie like me. We did the chef's seasonal 10 course meal. Yes pricey but worth it. Chef Kevin Lee is doing something amazing here and making Hawaii's local ingredients known to everyone. His team know what they are doing. The wine pairing was on point just have to go to experience it yourself. Salmon was cooked to perfection just

We came here for my husbands 40 birthday and while expensive, I feel like it was worth every penny! We had a counter seating which allowed us to watch over the food preparation and talk to the staff (which resulted in getting 2 extra deserts for free). We ordered the chefs tasting menu. My husband had the caviar as an add-on. Honestly I would not recommend getting the caviar - we assumed that that would mean he'd get an extra dish with caviar but instead he got it just added on top of 3 dishes, which honestly was a bit overpowering and detracted from those dishes. Everything else was great. All in all,if definitely recommend it for a big celebration!

If the inspectors of a certain tire company were to pass through Honolulu, PAI would be worth a stop. I stopped by for the Chef's Seasonal Tasting Menu, which was more of an experience than the mere consumption of quality sustenance. Course after course of thoughtful and varied fare that wasn't overly complicated. A standout for me was the Agedashi Tofu, which had a little bit of smoked fish on top and was remarkable. The cocktails are a good choice, and I'd suggest you try kind of a omakase with their bartender. I had some drinks which were on par with the excellent food, capped off by this inventive tea cocktail which I enjoyed greatly. The whole place is clean, impressively so. The staff are professional and highly attentive, while remaining unobtrusive. The tasting menu was a good choice, because there's so much good food that you could become paralyzed with indecision. Planning on returning.

Great upscale fusion cuisine. The Naw maw gai was so tender and juicy. Lots of interesting flavor combinations.

A friend and I met during happy hour, which we thought started at 4:30pm ...the place was empty and we were able to order drinks but no food until 5pm. We tried the first three items on the happy hour menu... Nduja baked oysters, katsu adobo head cheese bao buns and furikake tater tots. Each was delicious...loved them all. The food piqued my interest, I have to return for dinner.

Best Experience ever! I went with my aunt and uncle to celebrate my birthday. All the staff were so kind and made my birthday feel extra special. But the food was amazing, it was like every meal that came was from the art gallery, so beautiful and every bite was exciting! Fusions that I would never think of, and it was simply amazing.

There are several things wrong with this place. It's trying really hard to be something that its not. First off, there menu for food has two options, the small prix fixie menu or the large one, nothing else! Both menus are expensive, but the large one at $145 a person plus $70 for the wine pairing is obsurd. When asking if we could take items from each menu we were told no because it "ruins the integrity of the meal". Whatever, we got the cheaper menu plus wine pairing. First course was a salad and I thought that tyre wine pairing was good. The salad had to much cheese, this was our favorite meal. Next was this clam curry that didn't taste like curry at all, and was in a broth more than the curry paste you would expect. The wine was chardonnay and didn't match well. Third course was a squid and pork pasta. I couldn't find any squid, but the real failure with this one was the heavy prosecco that they poured. They said this was to cleanse your palate after every bite. Seriously, I don't need a palate cleanser in the middle of my entree. Last was a raspberry sorbet with a coffee liquor. There was not enough raspberry, and I would have paired it with a nice port wine, not the cheap coffee liquor that was served. Overall pretty disappointing. They really need to change their Buisness model if they expect to survive.

Amazing meal. He'e ragu was a standout... How they get octopus to have such a great smoky, meaty flavor and tender texture, I'll never know! Drinks are excellent as well, with beautiful craft cocktails and a very interesting wine list (Hungarian wines, orange wines, etc.). And prices are very reasonable for the portions and quality.

Michael Stafford

The burger here was very tasty.

The food is delicious! Everything is made from scratch. The textures in your mouth make you want to eat more and more! The staff is lovely and their service is great. We will definitely be going back.

I was looking for a fine dining experience that I could not get anywhere else-something that was creative, non-formulated and along the lines of the Netflix series, 'Chef's Table'. It had to be creative, innovative, in a relaxed, non-pretentious atmosphere and yet afforadable. I literally scoured the internet and checked out menus and websites (oh-and it had to be a non-Waikiki location) and this one met all of my specs. Let me tell you that Pai's is a rare gem! It not only met my expectations, but exceeded it. From well trained and dedicated staff that were courteous and professional to a menu that cannot be found anywhere else. Each dish is thoughtfully executed-visually pleasing and well balanced. You can taste every single component that goes into each dish. If you are a steak, salad and potatoes kind of person and has to have oversized portions, then this is not the place for you! The menu will change with the seasons, so there will always be a reason to come back. I will add too, that the wine and spirits offereings are very exstensive for such a small establishment! And again, there are drinks on this menu that you will not find anywhere else as the bartender/mixologist created these drink recipes to serve here. This will become a regular stop for me each time I find myslef on Oahu (I live on Molokai).

New Year’s Eve. Forced us to take the chef’s tasting menu even though other tables (walk-ins) didn’t have to. Cost us $500 USD. Food was fine but portions were laughable for that price. Won’t be back.

Stacey Quandt

Excellent tasting menu. Loved the kauai shrimp, agedadhi XO turnip cake, taro puff, black bean spareribs, seared scallop and chocolate Haupia. Service is outstanding.

Your eyes will be pleased with the presentation. Your taste buds will not be disappointed. The double cut bacon was wonderful. Poached lobster was delicious. The short ribs were so soft. The bolognese was fresh with fresh made noodles and fried Thai leaves. The Naw Mau Gai (Cornish hen) was delicious and stuffed with this wonderful rice.

Drinks were pretty epic, which had me salivating in anticipation for the food. Unfortunately, while the plating was aesthetically pleasing most of the dishes flavors were just underwhelming. Definitely not worth the prices being charged. The drinks were were the saving grace of this nights excursion.

Absolutely outstanding fine dining at the Chef’s Counter. Warm service, thoughtful and reasonable wine parings, and spot-on cooking. A must go.

For the price of my meal, I wasn't that impressed. They have unusual items on the menu, but they didn't knock my socks off.
