Awesome afternoon tea experience. Located inside the Halekulani Hotel. We do the Classic Afternoon Tea which comes with trays of sandwiches, freshly baked scones, afternoon tea pastries and choice of flavored tea. Price is acceptable and the view is amazing. The service is very fast and our servers are very nice and friendly. Highly recommended!!

We had several meals at Orchids during our stay at Halekulani so this review covers breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. I can say that all the meals were great and the restaurant has flawless service. You can go there for any meal with confidence, but this review will focus on the Sunday brunch. I am a brunch guy. I've been to brunches all over the US and world and Orchids is one of the best on every level and for the quality, one of the best values and some of the most creative and fresh food imaginable. Add in the setting of on the beach at Waikiki with waves gently lapping on the seawall and you have one fantastic experience. If you are planning a visit to Honolulu be sure to book many months in advance because the brunch books out weeks in advance.

The food here was nice however we expected more from a fine dining dinner place. We came with kids and the staff definitely did not like that. Abit on the rude side. The view was great. You have the beach right infront of you. There are better places to eat in Waikiki. If you do end up eating here, we recommend the signature cake. Everything else was very average.

This was a date night on our vacation. We chose Orchids because it got good reviews on Yelp. I didn't notice any mention about the price.Price aside the venue is perfect. Keeping in mind it is open air so it can be a bit warm. We had reservations at 6:00 pm so we were treated to a beautiful sunset.

Really amazing pasta. Incredible, hand-made, and a beautiful, tremendous experience. Burger was a little dry and overcooked, unfortunately. Appetizers (breaded brie, calamari) were delicious. An amazing brunch experience, so much variety and options I couldn’t possibly try everything. Complimentary valet is a nice perk. The view entirely depends on which way your table is facing. We lucked into a reservation but you generally need to try and book weeks in advance.

Missed our opportunity to eat breakfast at House Without A Key and opted to eat at Orchids since its breakfast is so highly rated. The restaurant is filled with a pretentious air and you will easily get judged if you aren't wearing a collared shirt or a dress. Our server wanted nothing to do with us and it was clear when all the larger parties got regular service. Most of the other service staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the pancakes and was urged to order more sides, and I can see why. Prepare to spend $13 on two small pancakes. I decided to try the Banana and Macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup and wish I didn't. The banana and macadamia were barely detectable, and although I waited an extra 10 minutes for the coconut syrup, the entire meal had an off-putting, sour after taste. My wife's poached eggs didn't fair much better... We left the restaurant hungry, despite ordering two extra sides, and wished we hadn't gone at all. This is definitely a restaurant that banks on its view and doesn't deliver on service or taste. There are far better places in Wakiki with comparable views. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

We are so happy that we chose Orchids to celebrate our 25th Anniversary while staying in Waikiki. The service was perfect, attentive, yet not too involved. We had the bottle of Pinot Grigio, which was fantastic. We shared the Big Island salad. I had the lasagnette, which included prawns and scallops. The pasta was super thin, which I loved. a beautiful place to be at sunset. my first time trying their new menu, which I enjoyed. the crab ravioli was lovely. however, service was very lacking. a lot of the awkwardness came from there not seeming to be a primary server for us, and it was a struggle to flag down throughout the meal someone to assist us. ending on an especially awkward note, they forgot we were celebrating a birthday (although it was on our reservation and the hostess mentioned it when we arrived). we did receive the coconut cake, but only after a gentle reminder & our check.

We made a last minute decision on Sunday morning to have brunch at Orchids based on recommendations and reviews. We did not have a reservation and my voice to you is this: "If you don't have a reservation DO NOT GO HERE." We were treated VERY impolitely by the hostess staff.. casual cold is how I would best describe our reception. We were seated in a side room with about 10 tables across the lobby from the buffet. Away from the ocean view, away from the piano, away from the food. Basically put into the back yard. As I looked around we were dressed like most of the other guests and there were empty tables throughout our meal. So, we spent $138. for brunch for two people, $64. for four mimosas, a decent gratuity since the server was good enough and had nothing to do with our initial treatment. I mentioned our concern to the manager on duty with a fairly concise and detailed explanation of how we were treated and of our feelings. He spoke not one single word to me in response. All I got was a meaningless nod- equally as dismissive as the two hostesses. As far as food goes, it was just exactly like each and every other high end brunch I've ever had in a similar hotel environment. It was good, it had big variety, and would have been a pleasant experience under better circumstances. I realize we did not have reservations but some communication would have been welcomed about why we were seated in a completely different and remote area. Again, away from the ocean view, away from the food, away from the piano, and essentially not in any way a part of the brunch activities ... yet, at full price. If they didn't want to serve us for whatever reasons, then they could have just said they were booked. They did not. They took our money, stuck us in a back room, and took our money. In summary, we spent right at $260. for brunch and were denied the view and the overall experience that we had expected and hoped for. We just won't ever plan on doing this again and have a very negative feeling towards this hotel in general so it will be OFF the list of options of places to stay on future trips.

Gorgeous classy five star dining experience. Get away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki today to the graciousness of a golden era. Open air dining, looking out on the lawn that ends above the surf of Waikiki. Diamondhead doesn't even look real and so close and so iconic.

All tables are in the shade, so no worries about too much sun. We made a reservation, but it wasn't really necessary. The restaurant is clean and white, with their namesake orchids everywhere. The menu offers a few selections. At our time of the day, they had a few brunch options available as entrees, but everything else was prix fixe including a soup/salad/appetizer, and the entree.

I had invited several friends to lunch before the end of 2017, but for one reason or another, we never could all find the time to get together. So, for the New Year, I thought to arrange another luncheon and it was superb. None of us had been to Orchids since the departure of Vikram Garg and the change in menu wrought by Christian Testa who added several kinds of pasta to the Halekulani classics which was much appreciated. Moreover, one could arrange to pre-authorize the charge card for payment of the meal cost and gratuity through the thoughtful efforts of the dining reservation manager, Kuulei Lipton, so payment for our lunch was seamless and without any hassle over the check. What was best of all, though, was the kind and attentive wait staff who allowed us to linger long after we had completed our meal and we ended up at table for over three hours in a delightful atmosphere. A superb lunch. Highly recommended!

Came here for breakfast as a family. The food quality is superb I had the pancakes which were probably the best pancakes I've ever had and everyone else really enjoyed their food. The view and restaurant is also great. Two things stop this from being a five star review... The lady at the welcome desk was friendly and helpful but her friendliness and welcome really showed up the other staff who were not friendly and didn't particularly care about being there or serving us. The other we niggle is they charge for filtered coffee despite them not telling you and just pouring in your cup it's not on the menu and tasted pretty bad. Will come back as the food was so good and hope that they've improved on service.

First of all, this is a truly beautiful restaurant with orchids and tropical flowers everywhere. FYI, this is a very popular place for Sunday brunch. You need to make reservations a month ahead. The reason for this is that the food is extraordinarily diverse, vast and delicious. They actually serve whole roast pigs. The pork is succulent. They have whole roast turkeys and fabulous prime rib. They fresh sushi made in front of you, 2 types of fresh sushi, gravlax, various cold meats and cheeses, a huge selection of salads, every type of breakfast food you can imagine! They also have by far the largest number of desserts of any buffet in Hawaii. This is really a must of you love or even like food!!

The breakfast was great. Between the two of us, we shared the pancakes (3 pieces), chicken apple sausage(3), and sourdough toast (6). The total was $31. We were both satisfied when we finished. It was a wonderful relaxing breakfast with a view and upscale environment. I totally want to return. Also, the restaurant will validate your valet parking.

Amazing service from the moment we walked in, by all the staff, especially our servers Gary and Gerald. They seated us with an amazing view, and were even kind enough to take pictures. The food was perfect, and the Italian dishes I have tried were very authentic. I went here for the famed Sunday brunch and was definitely not disappointed by the fare. However, the website can be a bit confusing about attire as it states "resort attire" on the website. Don't come in a T-shirt, plain and simple. Wear a collared shirt or they will provide one for you at the door. I came in khaki shorts and a T-shirt and was immediately given a Hawaiian collared button up to wear. We were then sat opposite the beach side in the back of the dining area. Its worth noting that other guests who were issued shirts were also seated in this area. Talk about segregating the "riff raff". Anyway, the food was phenomenal despite what happened with the dress code. Just come prepared and it doesn't hurt to have a reservation.

Great place to enjoy a dinner with a significant other, I had the Onaga and it was really good. Not a big portion so I would recommend getting an appetizer if you are hungry. Great beach view, Very upscale restaurant so make sure you dress appropriately. The only reason for four stars is because they put us in a very busy corner spot when the restaurant wasn't that full and another, nicer, table was available.

We were going to the “house without a key” for breakfast, but ended in its neighbor restaurant “Orchids” by mistake. It’s a fancier place with a great view. But it took them 45 mins to serve us a very simple breakfast . foods are small in portion but very tasty. it’s not a problem since we just sat there and enjoy the beautiful ocean view.

This place is great. We arrived there early after having a rough couple of days where everything seemed to be going wrong. Thomas, the Maitre De welcomed us and sensed that we weren't in a good frame of mind. We were seated at a beautifully set table looking out at the ocean. The wine Thomas suggested was excellent.The staff wonderfully attentive, and the Alaskan crab appetizer was perfect, followed up by the best sea bass we've ever tasted. Oh, and the coconut cake was incredible. All in all, the sensitivity and attentiveness of the team, and the wonderful meal, really salvaged our day. May God bless you and enrich you as the Orchids team did for us that day.

Their brunch used to be 5 star and were must go spot when we were in Honolulu on Sunday. I am not sure if I changed or they changed, it is just ok now. Yes, everything taste fresh, service is ok and atmosphere is amazing. But for a buffet, I am used to place such as Ritz in Half Moon Bay, where they serve caviars and servers are more attentive.

One of our favorite dining experiences ever in Hawaii, and we have been here too many times to count. Price was also much lower than I would expect. Considering it is Hawaii, and everything overpriced, it was a wondeful value. Even the call to confirm our reservation was perhaps the most polite I have received. I cannot recommend highly enough, and will return.
