Love the Bar B Q here. great ribs and awesome catfish. Sweet tea reminds me of home.
Great service. Definitely southern food. Brisket and ribs were very tasty. Side dish was a great portion. I couldn't finish the mixed plate with 2 sides. Price was reasonable for the portion. Lemonade was awesome. They also have Arnold Palmer.
Get the catfish, eat it in if you can, because it's excellent especially when freshly made. Sweet tea is exactly like the way my college boyfriend's South Carolinian mom made it. Collards and red beans & rice are tasty. The lady at the table next to us had the smothered pork chops and that looked delicious. Service here is better than a lot of other fancier places.
I'm in Hawaii on vacation with my husband and the first place we eat at his Hughley's. MYYYYYY GOOOSSSSHHHH! This place Is most definitely one of the best soul food places I've ever had and we are from Los Angeles. We both order the classic combo; catfish and chicken with 2 sides and cornbread. The catfish was seasoned will and perfect crisp. The chicken wasnt the best, season wise, but it was juicy and fried perfectly. Mac and cheese was good and you can tell its homemade. The cheese grits were good. The fried okra was really good and seasoned well. The yams were perfect. The cornbread was perfect too. The sweet tea was the best we've had since living in Florida. The customer service Is good too, we tipped.
Just called and found out they're BYOB. I'd give them 6 stars if I could! The food is always delicious, I get ribs every time. Don't forget the Mac n cheese either. This truly is a little soulful gem here on Oahu. They have 1 restroom, 1 or 2 flat-screen TVs always playing sports (love that!). And the portions are generous for the price. You'll always leave full, no doubt about it!
My family and I loved the food, atmosphere, and service. Very clean, staff was extremely nice and professional. We will definitely be back again.
The food reminds me of home.(Beaufort, SC) Simple yet flavorful. The smothered porkchops you can eat with a fork its so tender! I knkw why the catfish is a hot seller it was so good. Anytime i am in the mood for southern food, this is the place to go!!!
Very good food and great service.
Good southern food. Had the fried chicken wings & catfish with grits & collard greens but had to share with my grandkids cause they really liked the food.
Best southern cuisine selection on the island.!
Amazing food and helpful staff!
Even though we got there towards closing time, the service was just fantastic, no short'time grumpiness or long faces. The food was IMPRESSIVE. Everything tasted fantasic. We'll be back, and if your reading this, give 'em a try
Southern bbq.
As a Southerner, it is the closest you can get here in Hawaii! Can you say fried okra? Catfish that rivals anything from Alabama. Just yummy!
Love the food!
Down home goodness, all there sides are delicious. Cornbread is too good
What a surprise to find good southern BBQ in Hawaii. Brisket, chicken, hush puppies , and Mac n cheese....not a side that couldn't pass as a meal. The BBQ sauce with the chicken and brisket combo was also very good. If you find yourself in Oahu, HI this is a place to visit
I'm originally from the south and the food here made me feel like I was back home! So delicious!
Best soul food on the island in my opinion. I come here at least once a week. Sometimes twice.
Great place for classic southern food (fried chicken, fish, cornbread) and staff is just as authentic!!
Great southern cooking
The best southern cuisine on Oahu hands down. Buttermilk fried chicken, incredibly delicious collards. Some of the freshest okra you will find outside of the south. And sweet tea like mamma makes. Really can't go wrong here.
Yummy! Well as long as you don't mind good ol southern comfort food
This food was amazing. The service was patient and extremely nice and helpful. The ambiance feels like your Aunt's dining room (but add a large screen tv). For Hawaii, the prices are reasonable, especially given the amount and deliciousness of the food. So glad I stopped by while in town.
I eat here because its black owned. Greens could use a little work in my opinion, however everything else is delicious
Gray bbqs! Deviled eggs were also very tasty..
The chicken wings and the catfish is on point! My husband likes to get their catfish every tine we go here. A must have is having a sweet tea to go with your food. Plates come with corn bread. I like to go home a grill mines in butter. We like the side dishes... Collard greens, pork and beans, Mac n cheese, and candied yams. All delicious! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because sometimes the workers aren't friendly but tonight they all were friendly. I guess its it depends on their moods lol. Other than that, good is great!
Great southern food
Surprisingly amazing! From the sweet tea to the cornbread. We had the ox tails, ribs, fried chicken, fries, mac, green beans, and greens. Well worth the price!! Nice relaxing atmosphere. Just yes!! Cannot go wrong with this place.
Good food and great customer service. Manager very nice humble gentleman. Be sure to visit.
This place is really good, they make southern food which isn't something you would think to try in hawaii but it's something you should definently try in hawaii
My first visit....food was awesome!
This is a great place to eat. I just moved here from Washingtin, DC and this is the only place on the island that sells soul food. Yes. You read that correct. They serve the food of my culture and it taste good. If you are visiting this is the place to check out. It's not far from the swap meet either. Look that up too...you can get your souvenirs here and not pay all that money in Waikki or other places.
I had the Catfish and wings combo. It was amazing! They have so many great sides, it was hard to choose. Also, the staff was very helpful and friendly for my first time. Thumbs up
The BEST FOOD ON THE ISLAND!!!! Great customer service and excellent food. Ken I can't wait to come back to Hawaii and indulge in more of Hughleys fine cuisine. Hooyah Navy Chief!!!
BEST OXTAILS ON OAHU!! Always GREAT customer service. The menu has a delicious variety. Everything I have tried is extra yummy! Visit at least twice a month is a must for me:)
Down home food.. Good portions.. Even sweet tea downhome
Time was about 1p & the collard greens were seasoned just right. The blackeyed peas, too. And the fried CATFISH, PORK CHOPS & CORNBREAD is just like momma's Louisiana style home cookin'. I am so thankful for Hughleys. My waitress was a living doll. Very kind, sweet, thoughtful & attentive. The food was at our table with hardly any wait time. There was soft smooth jazz music in the background & somekinda sports on the t.v. in the back where others gathered. Sets approx 85+ As several seats were a cushioned bench by the window. Also has a delivery service. I will definitely return.(Free parking a real plus)
Awesome food all around. Give it a try; you will not be disappointed. Southern food done right.
Really good southern cooking.
GREAT customer service. Went there for my dads birthday, he wanted a simple birthday dinner, . It was nice, clean, chill vibe. We arrived at 7:20p, they close at 8pm. Their dine-in side closes at 7:30 but they let us order and take a seat because we arrived before their cut off. The food was yummy. They had all the southern favorites that you would expect; chicken, ribs, catfish, brisket, collard greens, mash, mac n cheese, baked beans, red beans and rice, hush puppies, corn bread, etc. Party of 4 and we left stuffed. Dessert was banana pudding, peach cobbler, or sweet potato pie (they ran out before we could order this dessert though). Good portions. Regular came with 2 sides and corn bread, mini plates came with 1 side. They had sweet tea
The food is amazing. Reminds me of the years I spent in SC. Big portions. Kid friendly. Definitely worth a visit
My cousin told me about this soul food place which I was very impressed surprised to know about in Hawaii. She loves the food and had been there several times. I’m visiting from NY and this was my first time here. I do not eat red meat or poultry so I had the catfish. I wanted to try the French fries and hush puppies and I asked about the red beans and rice because I know restaurants usually use a chicken or beef base for the rice and beans so I wanted to be sure they didn’t use a meat base for anything I was ordering. The beans and rice were safe from what they told me and I assumed the French fries and hush puppies would be as well but they informed me that they fry the hush puppies and French fries in the same oil they fry the pork chops and chicken in
I know southern food and this place is firing on all cylinders! Went here for lunch with the work crew and were all left full, happy, and looking forward to our next visit. I got the mini plate with brisket - great flavor, moist, and very large portion. We had everything from catfish to wings at our table and not a bad meal in the group! One of the crew got a full meal and had to take food home - tough life! One word of caution, have some time after you eat to recover from the inevitable food coma - trust me, it's coming and it's wonderful!
You get in staff is friendly and food is good.Very hard to find, bad parking but once
Half of it was good, the other tasted boxed. There was a wok in plain view of the customers. HOW CAN YOU MAKE SOUTHERN FOOD IN AN ASIAN WOK???
AMAZING food, helpful staff, cozy atmosphere!!
DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!!! DONT GO HERE!!! The review is not based on the food(even though it wasn't the absolute best for the price paid). I am rating this business based on their catering service called Hawaii Military Catering. As any business and client knows , customer service, management and excellent communication skills make up 99.9% of the business reputation. I have no idea why this business has so many reviews, probably because there are not a lot of Catering business that have access to the bases. For all of my Military folks on the Island - DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS! I had less than 30 days to set up an event for 100 people. At the short notice I was working with, HMC were the only ones available. I wanted to go with Hickam Catering but they were booked. The initial meeting went well, as so I thought. I gave them a budget and the Owner said "We will make it work." however, indicating that he was doing a lot for the $3000 budget. I was grateful but I did not insist on getting any more than what was paid for. Anyway, On the day of ,with planning, organising everything, I was texting and calling all of my vendors for the event. NOTE: HMC was paid in full a week in advance and was notified of the event four weeks out. On the day of the event, as the hostess , I was verifying all vendors, going over EVERY DETAIL repeatedly which entailed calling and texting all vendors and the venue to ensure the success of the event. Ken Hughley was the ONLY vendor who was Extremely rude and was yelling on the phone. I was beyond stressed on the day of and to have a catering business yell in the most condescending tone was UNPROFESSIONAL. The original contract posted how many people would be working the event which was three. On the day of, during running around juggling a million things, I was verifying all the numbers so sent the text messages to him. He called back YELLING how I was changing everything and did not know what I was doing . He kept saying I was expecting his crew to get ICE and drinks and that was not the contract , even though I kept repeating myself saying all I asked was if it was possible to have one person at the bar. I was setting up my OWN bar for my venue. He kept saying it was going to be more money. Instead of POLITELY saying No, Ken Hughley was rude, unprofessional and had a HORRIBLE ATTITUDE. Never again am I hiring them again based on the conversation. The conversation was 2 hours before the event. If you want to be stressed out and deal with a person with unprofessional attitude , then hire them. After getting of the phone with Ken, I reached out to a friend who told me she would volunteer to serve water and anything else and was able to get volunteers . I promptly texted Ken Hughley to let him know . I will also note that over the phone and during the event , his entire behaviour clearly showed that I as the client owed him for this 'favor' of him setting up and catering even though he was paid. Nonetheless, as a professional hostess, I made sure of saying thank you to all my vendors to include him. My politeness and professionalism was not a reflection or acceptance of his rude behaviour. I will say that Ms.Sharon, the lady at the business, is good. Deal with her if you have to. If you really have to , that is. Otherwise look at another business!!! The three crew members as per the contract was Ms Sharon, another young gentleman and the owner himself. The young gentleman and Ms Sharon, were very professional and did not reflect the owner. Separately doing business with those two only is highly recommended. HOWEVER NOT THE OWNER- just rude and unprofessional! If you call him too much, it's an issue, if you don't call him , it's an issue. On the phone he yelled at me saying I was ridiculous for sending 15 texts on the day off. As you can see per the image, there are NOT 15 texts.
What a delight dining here was for us. A little different fare from what is offered elsewhere on Island. We came in around 12:45 p.m. on a Tuesday and there were quite a few people waiting to order, so we experienced a delay getting our order in and getting seated. But the food was worth the wait. And the service was excellent, friendly and attentive. I had a chicken breast with candied yams. My husband had smothered pork chops with baked beans. Both were served with cornbread, which was excellent. We both had sweet tea one regular and a one Arnold Palmer. Take some time and hit this place up. It's worth a visit!
THIS PLACE NEEDS 10 STARS
The serving size was Awesome! The service was top notch. I'm going back.
Food tasted great and plenty of it to fill you up. Fantastic customer service.
This place is great and a must for mainlanders looking for some good old fashioned home cooking instead of island food. Fried porkchop is tasty and cooked perfectly, not leathery or gummy. Chicken and waffles ... chicken, good ... waffles, good ... my only regret is that I didn't get the gravy. All the sides are fresh and yummy. The corn bread ... if you only come for one thing ... get the GD corn bread. If I'm in Aiea, I'm getting me some Southern Cuisine!
The only thing that is good is the pork chops. The food is over priced and horrid. The greens are soggy with no taste. The red beans and rice taste like starch. The peach dumplings taste like acrylic. The Mac and Cheese taste like a farm. Fried chicken has no flavor. The potatoes in the potato salad weren't cooked all the way through. The tea is 2 cups of diabetes. Oh and don't ask to go to the bathroom! Why you ask? It's upstairs in a women's clinic! But the people were nice.
Love the food
Amazing food. I was so excited to finally have some good soul food. Prices are not too bad and the restaurant is clean. We went on a Sunday and at 1:30- 2PM, it began to fill up fast. We will definitely be back.
Staff and food made me feel like home!
Good ol southern food and the sweet tea is most excellent.
You have to try this place! The food is delicious, prices are great, and the service and bar none!
I'm a Southern girl and this place definitely gave me a piece of Alabama on the island!! It was so good!!
I’m originally from Arkansas and been living on Oahu for close to two years. Don’t get me wrong as I love local style food, but finding Hughley’s really takes me back home! Excellent southern style cooking! I’ve had their catfish, brisket, ribs, wings, collard greens, fries, hush puppies, fried okra, mashed potatoes and gravy. It was all on point! Definitely one of my favorite spots on Oahu to eat!
Very Southern hospitality at it's finest. Nice atmosphere and staff was friendly. Clean place. Don't forget to try the collard greens and catfish deep fried.
Wow! This place is off the chain. To be in Hawaii and so close to the base. This choice is to easy to end up here more times than necessary.
Food that tastes like heaven and staff that treat you like family
Me and some friends went to eat and couldn't find a table to eat next door. One of us ordered food from hughleys, and I ordered next door. When I brought my food next door to join my friend who had ordered there, a man named Vernon said I can't eat my food there, despite my friend that had ordered. Pretty poor customer service, and zero effort to help a guest enjoy lunch, so we ate in the car. Thanks Vernon
The food was really great and filled us past full. I had the catfish but my favorite was their Mac and cheese and cornbread. Service was great and had a good relaxed atmosphere. Prices were a bit steep, I thought, but for Hawaii and the area probably normal. Expect about $17-20 a plate.
Great meal, great customer service and the price was great
We had the "Shrimp and Grits" and "Fried Catfish." Tastes like home!
The restaurant is definitely a better deal than the truck. At the restaurant there’s everything you can hope for, but the truck is pretty limited. At their main location they’ve got some great BBQ, tons of tasty sides and super friendly and helpful service. It would be difficult to walk out anything other than stuffed. At the truck, for $12 I thought 2 wings, 4 hush puppies, some collard greens and a piece of cornbread were not the greatest deal. However, those were some good hush puppies. Good wings too, though I prefer to have more going on than just fried.
Good food and service. I liked hearing praise and worship music playing. It was a peaceful place. I felt like I was eating Sunday dinner.
This man is a FRAUD!!! He is making people think they are eating oxtails and they aren't he has his employees put two little pieces in there and the rest are neck bones and a bunch of gravy. When we politely asked could we speak with him. We let him know that the deal was. He got aggressive with us cornered us, got in our faces and told us that he didnt need our money and so on. Dont get me wrong the neck bones were great but the fact that you are charging ppl 27 dollars a plate and are lying does not make this right sir! Go check it out for yourself. This is sad and there has to be something that can be done about this.
The best southern food on the island
I loveee this place!
I felt like I was at home eating here. It was amazing its like southern food in Hawaii. I loved it.
Great place for Southern fare. Catfish po' boy with a side of crispy fried okra hit the spot!
If you are missing some authentic down home country cooking--this is your spot. We went here after visiting the swap meet. Too much food to eat, but we had to have some peach cobbler. You owe it to yourself to eat here.
I would definitely go here for the Southern Cuisine, but still looking for an authentic BBQ place. The ribs were very bland. Only flavor was the sauce. The brisket had okay flavor, but something tells me it wasnt smoked like true BBQ should be. I couldn't see a smoke ring and the flavor tasted like liquid smoke or smoked seasonings. It didnt have that depth of flavor from an actual smoked brisket. It was also extremely thinly sliced from what I'm used to at most great BBQ places. I also had the chicken wings which were excellent. I love the batter they use to fry their chicken. Hush puppies were good, mac and cheese was okay. All in all a decent restaurant serving okay southern food, but missing out on the BBQ side of things. If they invested in a smoker or two and learned the art of smoking their meats and the art of BBQ, this place would have lines out the door. When I went at 5pm the restaurant was nearly empty which should have been a sign.
The food was delicious. Mom ordered porkchops and gravy where the meat fell off the bone and was so tender with mashed and gravy. I got the excellent hot wings with fries. We definitely look forward to coming back. Mom said it was her favorite meal so far in Hawaii. She's southern at heart.
Great southern food at a great price. Tasted like home to this South Carolina native. Highly recommended. Make sure to try the hush puppies and mac n cheese, they are the best on the island for sure. Staff had that good old southern hospitality too, super friendly and helpful.
Sorry..The only thing good here is the fried chicken, fried fish, fries. Would try a sample before purchasing.
Had the salted salt with a side of salt. It was salty. Highly disappointed.
Great food and service.
The cornbread was good, came sealed in a plastic vacuumed bag. $22 dollars for two skinny no meat wings, and some Costco catfish. The mash potatoes are powder, and Mac n cheese was the worst I've ever had. Thank God they had multiple hot sauce, but I had to reach next table for silverware. It's a napkin with a fork...... no knife, no spoon.... took over 30 minutes to get food. Go next door at Queen Street Cafe.
Brandy and I loved the experience. Great food! And service, very friendly staff and atmosphere. We are definitely going to frequent Hughley's.
The service is always amazing. Great customer service and hospitality. Food is always fresh and carefully prepared and not to mention their new online order and pick up. Makes it so much more convenient.
Best food in town.
A nice little hole in the wall joint. Not overly impressed.... but still probably some of the best southern cooking you will find here. I'm not a fan of sweet cornbread in general.... BUT you can get SWEAT tea here! I had the combo plate with ribs and a pork chop. It was decent.
Amazing food! Amazing service!
The food was amazing and we were allowed on right at their early closing for today. We all had different meals and NO complainants. the conversation was fascinating after finding someone familiar with Wilson, NC. Its always nice to find real southern hospitality and they definitly jave it.5
Delicious food, but you pay for it.
EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH MY MEAL. catfish delicious, Candied yams sweet and yummy, LITERALLY TASTE LIKE YOU ARE EATING PIE WITHOUT THE CRUST.
Great Food remind me of home
Great food and fantastic service ate here on the way to the airport and I was very happy we stopped here
So this place will just be a 3 for now. I need to try it one more time to give it an honest review. The sweet tea is real. No where on island does it like this.If you don't know what real sweet tea from the south is supposed to taste like this may be too sweet for you. Now the waffle was great and everything a waffle should be. Thick, buttery, moist. A great choice. The chicken was cooked fresh but the crust not my style or not the best flavored to be paired with the waffel. Light crunch with minimal seasonings leaving a natural taste. Not bad at all just not what I am used to or what I had before. The Mac was a big fail. Idk maybe it was a bad day for them but as good as it looks thick and cheesy the flavor was not there. The cheese barely detectable and almost no seasonings. Not your traditional baked Mac or least what I have had. Id say try the place. There menus has plenty options. Like I mentioned I will try this place again. Just maybe not get what I ordered.
We just absolutely loved this place. Super mellow, delicious food, finger licking good. Ribs, fried catfish, grits, mash and gravy everything we tried was just yummy!! And make sure to order with the cornbread!
The food was a hit. Chicken is crispy on the outside juicy on the inside. The waffels had a nice texture and perfect balance on sweetness. Must go on the island of Oahu. Oh very nice atmosphere as well
Poke and Ramen are yum. Sometimes, you need a little of you know. I’d been wanting some cat fish and fried chicken. Google helped me locate this location. The definitely did not disappoint. The young lady came around the counter to explain the menu. Which, I genuinely like. The food was delish. Also, had a chance to meet the owner extremely humble. Glad, I stubble upon this place. Thank you, for the outstanding customer service.
This place was a taste of home. I've been craving some good southern food and I finally found a place that I can go to that literally feels like the South. However, I should have paid attention to the reviews beforehand when they said they give you a lot of food. I did come in hungry, the wait was not long, the staff was wonderful and polite and I finally was able to indulge in that southern goodness. My eyes were waaaaaaay bigger than my stomach and I could not finish even one of my sides. I ordered the combination plate with two meats and added a side. I ordered like a hungry giant and ate like a child. Either way, it makes for some good leftovers! The cornbread. Was. To. Die for. I'm completely in love with this place. Ten thumbs up!
Good food. With great atmosphere.
Great service. Huge portions. Black star items are best sellers. Blue star items are gluten free. Had the smothered pork chops. Fall apart, cut with a fork, swimming in gravy. Delicious.
The food and service was excellent, would recommend the greens and fried fish
BEST FOOD I've had since I have been on this island. Hughley's will be my go to spot for the next three years....
Great place to eat
This place is great! Big portions and amazing brisket. Came here hungry but left stuffed. Definitely a must visit for southern food lovers
Very nice staff. The food was great.
Very nice service. Came in late one night and girl holding down the front was nice and on it. Real good food!!!
Great food! My wife and I went in since we were in the area and I'm very glad we did. You order your food at the front and then take a seat which was strange because the inside is very nice and it seems like it would be a place to have a server. I had the fried pork chop with coleslaw and green beans and my wife had then brisket with collard greens. Each plate comes with cornbread as well. Everything we had was great and we have been recommending his place to our friends!
This is a 5 star experience every time I eat here. By far it has the best comfort food on the island. The cornbread is amazing and the smothered pork chops are tender enough to cut with a spoon.
This place is full of flavor everything is so delicious. The corn bread is awesome. The catfish po boy sandwich winner winner catfish dinner. The pork chops are amazing. Pretty much everything you order here will be so delicious. the staff is very friendly and very helpful and accommodating to your needs. We brought the whole family here everybody was full and satisfied. The peach dessert was lit. trust and believe you will be amazed with all the delicious food here I can't stop talking about this place to my co-workers to my friends to my family even to you sorry for the long review but please believe it is amazing over here.
Favorite place on island for catfish! The staff is always friendly and makes us feel like family. Everytime we come my husband gets their catfish poboy and it's a hit everytime!
The food is a bit pricey for lunch fare but it's delicious. I usually order the catfish with red beans and rice. Anyone who's a fan of southern food has to come by.
I do have to admit the food is authentic. But the owner Ken ruins the place with his white boy attitude. I had my service dog when I told him the task he said it wasn't good enough and dismissed myself and my daughter with her 2 year old baby out of his establishment. My daughter went in to apply for a job that she had beenrepeatedly called and asked to come in. First the one guy hired her; then the owner came out and kicked her out of the restaurant! Very rude and arrogant. So we have to all make a choice. How good does food have to taste to ignore someone being rude and arrogant? Possibly call it in anddo take out? Sad sad sad
This place was great. I will definitely recommend it to friends. I stumbled upon it and am glad I did. It is difficult to find good Southern cooking in Hawaii but Hughley's made that possible. The menu selection was great and the staff was nice and helpful. I will definitely be back, with friends.
Friendly helpful staff, and excellent food!
For this island it's amazing. Ribs are on point everything else is worth the trip
Great southern food in Hawaii! I didn't think it was possible. Love the food, love the people! #TrueSoutherner
My husband and I decided to try this place out shortly after I gave birth and had no energy to cook dinner. We ordered over the phone and my husband went to pick up. I got what I always get when I get southern food: fried chicken with greens, cornbread, and okra if they got them and always with a sweet tea. I thought they were pretty good. I thought the greens were a bit salty, but according to my husband who loved them, "that's how it's supposed to be". The okra was great and the cornbread was decent, a little on the dry side but still tasted great in the greens! My chicken had great flavor in the meat, but the skin was lacking. Now, to be fair my husband did have to drive 15-20 mins back home after picking up the food so the skin might have lost some of it's awesomeness in the drive but I have had leftover chicken from Molly's and the skin is still pretty crispy. So for that, it lost half a star (but to be fair, we decided that we will try this place again just to verify). My husband got the catfish, We thought in comparison to the other southern restaurants that it was a little bit more expensive for a little less food... if that makes sense, so I took off another half star there. So we're going to try this place again, maybe dine in if our little man allows it. The taste was there for most of it, but for me, it's all about the fried chicken.
Decent BBQ. Ribs good, brisket not really.
This place is fantastic! The sweetest sweet tea on the island, great service, great people. Well worth a visit.
GOOD TEA YALL. LIKE MAMAW GOOD TEA. always a nice staff & good portion sizes
This place is Veteran unfriendly.. gives military discount, owner claims to be military? If you where military how come you disrespect veterans? You remember me? I came in with my Airforce son, he showed his military ID... sad
A must visit! Good southern food and REAL sweet tea. The people there are super friendly, and you WILL leave full. Prices are very reason for the amount of food you get.
Reminded me of many relative's cooking. Good portions. The atmosphere (decor) is the only thing without flavor.
The catfish is fresh and the potato is delicious.
The food I miss from sweet home Alabama. The ox tails, rice and the collards are especially good. The sweet tea will have you thinking of summer days sitting on your mama's porch.
Hughleys has some tasty fried chicken, just the right amount of spice. The meat is nice and juicy when you tear it apart as well, always a plus
This is the best family owned place that you can eat at. They are military veterans serving this beautiful island. Beautiful. Blessed. Family.
The food was delicious and the service was great! I will be returning soon.
I truly enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and the service especially that I heard gospel music which was extremely soothing. We had a pleasurable and memorable experience.
A lot of southern or BBQ joints rely too heavily on having good meat and don't ensure their side items are on point - but not this place! The meat is so good and the sides are friggin' delicious. I grew up in the deep south and Hughley's fried okra, collards, corn bread and red beans legitimately taste as good as anything I've ever had. I inhale them every time.
Ehhh. I guess when you are one of only 2 on the island, mediocre is the standard. Gonna have to make my own! The greens were ok but needed some meat!
Been missing a place like this the whole time I've lived on island. Finally found the best fried okra and catfish. Excellent food and service.
Shrimp and grits are worth every penny. Excellent.
My first time here . I'll be coming back to try more of there food. I really like the concept or this restaurant. The oxtails wasn't what I expected. They were tender but that was about it . No seasoning was added which made it bland . The sides were delicious.
The ribs and chicken was very good. Will come again.
Fantastic food. Great little place.
You must eat here if you are in town. You I'll not be disappointed but you will be full. Try the sweet potato pie. You'll regret it if you don't!
Great food!
You won't be disappointed. Great food and great service.
The service was amazing with staff that was friendly and accommodating. Since my roots are from the south, the food did not meet the standard of my momma and aunties, but it was the best place for soul food in Hawaii.
Slightly hidden but worth the search. If you have a Big appetite this the place for you!The food was quickly delivered to our table with big smiles from all the very friendly staff. The ribs are big and the meat falls off the bone.Great catfish and pork chops with a large selection of side dishes.Do yourself a favor, make this trip.
I'm from Mississippi and I vouch for the fried catfish 100%
Fried pork chop , Yams white rice I was in heaven
The food was very good and it was delicious
The fried chicken wings, baked beans and the corn bread were really good. The sauce on the ribs was a little too sweet for our taste, and the fried okra was just okay. Overall we had a good experience. The people who work there were nice.
Food always good
The price is well worth the the quality of the food here. In Hawaii, we're all surrounded by Asia cuisine, so in the end, it all becomes such a familiar taste. I was born in Louisiana and Hughley's makes me feel like I'm right back in my birthplace. The atmosphere is very comforting with the soft jazz playing overhead, the decor is simple. With that aspect, we're paying for the qualifying the food, not the interior design flare. This place is beautiful!
Great Place Great People
Ordered and pickup was easy
Delicious food, friendly staff.
Down home Southern taste!
Every time I go there it's good and the service is good to
This is great spot for a thanksgiving if you don’t have nowhere to go or you just don’t feel like cooking. Great good . Good people. Lovely dine-in spot . The food is delicious. Reminds me of my grandmothers cooking . Love this place!
The food at Hughley's was delicious and the customer service outstanding. I recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Good Southern Food
Very well prepared southern cuisine I was praying for! Catfish is excellent, corn bread is what it's supposed to be, and sweet tea that makes you diabetic before you finish it. Have never had a bad experience here.
Terrible. My dad brought home two orders "mini combo chicken." Upon opening it, there was one small separate side each and one fried chicken thigh in each container. I asked my dad how much the food cost. He said $22. The food was okay but the portions were so small its embarassing. KFC would be cheaper and more worth it, and that's saying something. I'd give 0 stars if I could.
Fast polite service. Variety is great and it has comfort food with descent sized serving. Invite a friend, none of mine have been disappointed
