The service was nice and quick even though the place was packed. The burger meat was delicious and very savory. The fries were also very soft on the inside and salty. I enjoyed my food and while we were there they even had live music!

A great place and it has been around for years... I think the bartender said at one time it was called "The Pub". That's where I'm gonna watch the game tomorrow.. good food great service ... and this review is from one who was in" food & beverage" for YEARS! Just cannot stop cleaning random bathrooms.. bussing tables... Etc etc

My husband and I had lunch here and it was delicious! Friendly and fast service. A lot of the food is made in house. Good prices for what you get. Only down side is that there is very little parking. Highly recommend!

A very nice hole in the wall burger place. Excellent burgers and attentive staff. Parking was a little tough to figure out but we found a spot in the street in front of the restaurant. Will definitely go again next time I'm in town.

Great local place for burgers. We visited after some ATV riding and those burgers we're great. Tukey, wagyu, and regular beef burgers, any choice is good. If in Hilo this is a place to visit for a nice lunch or dinner

The salmon burger here was really great. They have a lot of different varieties of burgers! Really delicious! The fries are kinda soggy here though and their cider (at least the seasonal one they had) was awful -- hence the four stars. But if you really want a great burger with some live music this is the place to go!

I really enjoy coming here. I usually get the Hilo bay burger. Fire and ice fries. Big wave. Can't go wrong! My only comment of improvement would be that sometimes the bun is dry. Other than that, it's a great place. Thanks for the hospitality!

Hilo Burger Joint is a great place but a little hard to find. Even harder to find parking. But worthwhile going to. The food is great. I had a basic cheese burger with fries. I chose Bleu cheese for the burger. It was very juicy done just right with fresh bun. The fries were some of the best I've ever eaten. Good selection of beer too. I highly recommend!

Decent burgers. Interior is too dark. The fries are very thin and not cooked well - crispy on the outside, but hard on the inside, not soft.

Nice little funky place, kind of off the main drag. Was packed when we stopped in, so we ate at the bar (after 3 different flights totaling 14 hours, I was ready for some food!). Burger was cooked and seasoned well, with a nice sear (too many places burn the outside trying to sear it, and don't use enough seasoning, this was just right!). The bun was particularly good, stood up to the toppings without being too tough or too big for the burger. I had the Green Chili burger and my wife had the Au Jus burger, both were very good. Fries were obviously house made and very good - crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside, well seasoned. They also had live music, which was nice and they were not so loud you couldn't talk to your table. Highly recommend, I'm sure we'll will eat here at least one more time before we leave.

We stumbled upon this restaurant when searching for something to eat that was open on a Sunday evening in Hilo. Most restaurants were already closed for the night & we didn't want to have to make the drive back to Kona to find food. The burgers we're excellent. They had entertainment, games & puzzles while waiting for your food to arrive. Live music was just starting up when we were getting ready to leave. Good portion sizes too. We will visit again when we are back in the area. We got lucky & found street side parking right in front of the restaurant as it was raining when we arrived.

A great burger! We got the blue cheese burger and the teriyaki burger. The later was with the Original garden burger patty. Both were really good. Their regular fries and sweet potato fries were also very good.

Never had a burger and beer experience that was as satisfying as Hilo Burger Joint!!! After a long day of hiking in the Hawaiian sun at Volcanoes National Park, Hilo Burger Joint was absolutely perfect!!! FELL IN LOVE with the Curry Gravy Burger!!!! So delicious! The beef is really good. It's a fairly family-friendly place. We had a large group including kids and the staff was friendly and accommodating. You're going to pay $20 a meal here for an adult. I got the Hilo Bay burger, which was disappointing. I don't think the beet was fresh. It would have been better if it was carmelized. The Bleu burger was fantastic. Kids burgers don't come with any toppings. Fries and salads are okay.

Only been here once, it was excellent. When the owner saw I was photographing my food, she quickly came over to tell me why the burgers are served "upside down", with the bun heel on top. 1) It is easier to eat. Grab the burger naturally with your hands (fingers under the bun) then rotate 180 degrees as you bring it to your hungry maw. 2) It keeps the cold toppings cold resting under the burger instead of on top. 3) It keeps the bottom of the bun from getting soggy with the meat juices. She was right! One of he best burgers I ever had and cooked to proper requested temperature. Medium rare, as all burgers should be.

Delicious burgers and good service! The atmosphere is pretty comfy. The downside I think here is that it seemed a little dingy and the chips and salsa were awful. Otherwise great food and really good prices! Worth a visit if you're in Hilo

We were recommended to stop in and enjoy a burger here while in Hilo. They did a good job and this little burger spot. Sure nothing fancy, but the food was good and prepared as requested. And even better, it was a Wisconsin bar, with Packer and Badger logos shared throughout. Fun spot that felt like home away from home.

Just finished eating the Au Jus Burger. I have eaten at burgers places all over the world from some of the highest rated places, and never have I had a better burger. The onions and mushrooms were perfectly cooked very tasty, I ordered the burger medium, came out exactly how I wanted. The sauces and cheese were the perfect complement. And the dip was delicious without overpowering everything else. I will definitely be back.

Go for your birthday you get a free hamburger. By the way, the burger is so ono. Loved the sweet potato fries. Do suggest they provide a dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries. I asked for honey mustard dressing.

Dry burgers, smallest pigeon wings I’ve ever seen. The service is definitely on island time, however it’s on one of the other islands since I couldn’t even get a refill of water during our hour and a half trip for a simple burger and wings.

Hilo is not a place where you'd go for thrills. At 8pm, the town pretty much is dead. At 9pm, most, if not all, restaurants are closing. I came in late from driving from Captain Cook to Polulo trail, to Waipio valley, then the waterfalls, and I was starving. Found this place, service is okay (they don't bother you as much), good for casual night out with friends. I had the wagyu burger, I liked it.

I had a regular cheese burger substituted with a garden burger patty and added a fried egg. I dont eat meat so I dont often find really good veggie burgers, but I drove 2 hours just to eat here if that tells you anything. The root beer was good too, had a bit of spice too it. The place has live music and a bar, and it seemed that several people were regulars there.

Great burger place. They were very fast, efficient and courteous. Burgers were excellent and cooked exactly as ordered. Best French frys I have ever had anywhere. Sides were delicious as well. They did seem to rush and just leave the bill on the table but had no problem adding additional orders to it and our experience was great. Highly recommended for burger lovers!

This is definitely one of our absolute favorite places to eat. The entire menu offers something delicious and filling for all of us. I personally have tried everything from their salads to their customized bowls to burgers to hamburger steak (pictured) and I have enjoyed every meal we have shared here. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It gets crowded and at times there is a wait, but this place is definitely worth the wait. They have a bar and live entertainment too.

This burger joint has THE BEST HOT WINGS in town, no dipping sauce needed. My boyfriend and I fooled ourselves many times by only ordering the 1/2 lb basket. We now just do 1 lb each for our appetizer and then I devour half of a mushroom, Swiss burger cooked to the perfection of medium. Our son really enjoys the hamburger steak, and my boyfriend loves the bleu cheese burger salad!
