My wife and I shared the pork plate. It was good and a healthy amount of food but the pork was fatty and kinda high in price. We've had better pork for less on the island. Wouldn't say it's a must have.

Get the brisket!!!! They were sold out when I first went but their other choices are just as good. They offer samples when requested. Good outdoor seating area by the truck and also an area with an ocean view!

Stopped by on way back from hiking Keana Point. Had the BBQ Briskets. Two good slices,tender and tasty with beans and spicy apple slaw and rice (every plate we ordered anywhere always come with rice.- a Hawaiian thing? The spicy apple slaw was different but we love the flavor. Service was friendly which is becoming a rare experience nowadays.

Man oh man, this was some tasty tasty BBQ. The ribs had a bbq taste that I havent had in years. The slaw and the beans were also a treat, but their bbq ribs were very tasty. Owner is a real cool dude and super nice. If you go through here, make sure you stop at this truck! You wont regret it.

I went to HI-BBQ for dinner. I cannot overemphasize how great my experience was. The service was incredible, with a very short wait, and the staff was very friendly. The food was amazing! It was BBQ that could top even the best in the western U.S. I would definitely go here again and again. I had an awesome time. I would drive anywhere on the island to have this BBQ any time I am in Hawaii. They were really nice and cool too. We arrived a little earlier than their open time but we were pinched for time since we were in a wedding that day, and they checked the meat and served us early. Highly recommended to everyone who loves good food and wants authentic family food. Reminded me of my Papas bbq (he was Chamorro)

Great food that makes you feel like you’re at a Classic backyard BBQ. And they got us our food very quickly compared to other food trucks. I had the pineapple sausage, and substituted the coleslaw for more rice. It was delicious, and enough for leftovers for tomorrow. A bit pricey, but still good.

Absolutely amazing bbq. I got the 18 and up and was able to sample the ribs, brisket and pulled pork. All were delicious. Now im not a big fan of coleslaw but by god was their coleslaw amazing too. I would also recommend getting their homemade sweet tea. This is a must go to spot to eat. You will not be disappointed.

Brisket is incredible, staff was super cordial, the owner was making us laugh, and making sure everything was to our liking. The covered seating was much appreciated. Six or seven picnic tables under a large tent. Will definitely be returning. Probably the best food we had on the North Shore, no joke.

The line at Giovannis was just too long. The BBQ smelled wonderful, so we gave it a chance. Great food, pulled pork was great. Portions are huge, but a lot is rice. Would eat again.

Really great staff. The brisket was amazing and tender. The ribs were meaty and good. I thought the pulled pork was just so so. Biggest problem was the sides were flavorless. I was hoping for a really good slaw, but tasteless. Also disappointed that the bbq sauce was sweet baby rays. A decent sauce (mostly corn syrup) but I expect a bbq restaurant to have their own. Now mind you the brisket was tasty enough without sauce.

This place is really good. I had the brisket, which you could tell was smoked and cooked for a long time. Very flavorful. It was served over a bed of rice. If you’ve been to Texas, this would be considered a good brisket. If you’ve been to Franklin BBQ in Austin, it was approaching that good. Their spicy coleslaw was good and had quite the kick to it. The baked beans were okay, but felt like they came out of a can and then added some bacon. Not bad but given how good the brisket is, I was hoping for a little better there. I saw what looked like sweet baby rays laying out on the back counter, which isn’t a good sign. Sweet baby rays is good but given how good the brisket is, I’d be disappointed if that was what went with the ribs. Anyway, their brisket was a hit. Worth the trek up there.

I ordered 2 rib plates ($16 each) 1 sausage link ($3) the tax says $1.79. I was charged $39.79. So by my count I was over charged $3. I'm not a fan of giving money away. I'm also not a fan of company's stealing from their customers. I Wont be returning to them.

Stopped here for lunch whwn it was only the rib truck. The ribs are good but I wanted better sides. Then they opened the HI-Chix with the focus being fried chicken. They need some work on their flavors. The gouda mac & cheese would be great except it has chili peppers in it. Like the hot kind. The chicken has no flavor and is over cooked/fried. The baked beans taste like they are out the can. They need more brown sugar or some bbq sauce. The mashed potatoes need some pepper and butter. Overall a flavor upgrade is needed. I'll keep eating here to support local. Hopefully they work on it...but do try the ribs.

Average BBQ food truck stop with other trucks around. We got the pulled pork, which came on top of white rice. A side of baked beans that had bits of bacon (possibly canned) and another side of coleslaw. It also came with 2x Hawaii rolls. Everything was good, but it tasted like a bbq place anywhere in the world. The sauce they had sitting out was sweet bay rays. If you like consistency and the taste of what you think of at any bbq place thats not unique for its sauce/special recipe, you'll love it. Im not saying this place is bad by any means, our meal was good....just average BBQ.

We had the grilled shrimp plate and the brisket plate. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and had a great flavor. The brisket was delicious, ask for some lean cuts.Owner took our order - she was super sweet to sub out anything we wanted. The apple coleslaw and the baked beans were delicious. The truck is part of a huge area of food trucks, maybe 15 and all. It was hard to choose but we are extremely happy with our choice.

The ribs were good. You got a lot of food but the majority of it was rice and beans, only 3 ribs. Beans seemed like canned beans with some bacon thrown in. If you get there later in the day, they will be out of most of the meats. Not really worth the price

I just started smoking brisket and other meats from home, so I appreciate the expertise and patience that goes into making a really good cut of meat a work of smoked, flavorful art. These guys at HI BBQ know what they’re doing, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. I recommend the sliced brisket, but anything they make is going to be falling-off-the-bone juicy and delicious. Just ate at HI-BBQ on our last night in HI. Wish we would of stopped here sooner during the Trip! Would of been back more than once! Pulled pork was great. Owners actually sat down with us while we were eating for some nice conversation. Brought out a rib for sampling after I commented I had some elsewhere. It fell off the bone and had excellent flavor! Not sure if I will be back in HI from NY but if I am it's a definite stop!

Food was good but under salted. The brisket was great but extremely fatty, without enough of the lean meat. Out of ribs, and said we wouldn't need salt when asked. We needed salt and I dont typically salt my food once its served. The competition has you beat guys sorry.

Made a spontaneous stop on a cruise around North Shore last weekend. Well worth it. My friend and I had just eaten a bit before and we were on motorcycles so we asked if they had a better way to store the food than styrofoam. Styrofoam containers don't do good in saddlebags after all. They put everything into individual Tupperware containers and made life easy. The food was phenomenal too. The best baked beans I have had in a long time an the brisket really hit that BBQ spot that I don't satisfy much here in Hawaii.

My husband and I went to Oahu for our honeymoon and tried different food places recommended to us by friends, but we decided to try this place on our own since we saw a sign for Hawaiian BBQ as we drove by. Great BBQ. The only complaint is the limited diversity in size choices, and the lack of any type of sauce to go with the meat. I understand if you do a dry rub, but maybe someone wants to throw some sauce on it, this wasn't much of an issue for me because we took it home, but if they fixed this easily 5 stars.

The food here was amazing! I have never reviewed any place so you know this place must be special! We were on our honeymoon and decided to take a drive around the island. We saw the big signs for HI BBQ and decided to stop. The man working was very nice and helpful. We decided to share a plate and it's a good thing we did because the portions were huge. We got the pulled pork and it was absolutely delicious. Fair prices and everything was tasty. We will definitely be coming back next time we visit Oahu.

Our hungry family just tried HI BBQ and could not have been more impressed. The brisket, the brisket slider, the ribs and the sausage were AMAZING. We got full long before we were ready to quit eating. The owner took care of us in the best ways, loading up our plates and even coming back with complimentary pineapple for “dessert”. Although a food truck set up against the highway, there are benches in the grass, fun music and cornhole and games to play while waiting or if finished early. A great experience and a must while in Hawaii.

We actually ate at their Hi-Chix truck, we got the blackened Ono sandwich with coleslaw. Amazing!! Massive portions of food, my wife and I actually shared the plate. Everybody on both trucks were super nice and pleasant they even came out to checked on us a couple of times. Definitely definitely highly recommend. I wish I would’ve gotten a picture of my plate when I got it but I was so shocked when I saw the plate I didn’t think about it before I ate.
