REVIEWS OF Ahi Assassins Fish Co. IN Hawaii

Chen Family

So good you want to defend your food from your siblings with sharpened chopsticks! Back off, that’s my shoyu, b a c k o f f !

Nick Fish

These are the type of people we should support. Real fisherman selling fresh fish.. Hawaiian style is da bomb

cmtosh

Have to amend my review upon revisiting. First time it was just about perfect, second time i had a bunch of fat and skin, could just be that particular day’s catch, but still a bit disappointing.

eabsurfs808

I liked it, particularly because my go-to poke spot was closed and I was super hungry for something to eat. The guys preparing the poke were very friendly and accommodating. If I am ever in the area, hungry and my go-to is closed, I know where to go.

Chris Nguyen

Delicious fish, sizable portions, and cool cashier. Located on the second floor of a strip mall. No real seating to speak of. But legit!

Amanda Wen

Delicious poke! Very small (eat-out only) and on the second floor of a nondescript plaza (we had some trouble finding it), but it's definitely worth a visit if they're open! The ahi tasted very fresh and was seasoned excellently, and the rice was okay.

Yara Campana

Veryyy delicious food! They made it special without onion when I said I had allergies.

Glenn Kobayashi

Fresh sashimi and poke. Da best!

Britta Bracy

So far the best poke we have had out of the 5 places we have had it.

Melissa Kelley

Best poke ever and nicest people running it! Do fresh! Gave us samples so we could find the right combo of flavors for us. A MUST GO!!!!

R. CHAN

Why have i not heard of this place b4?! Go! Asap! Creative menu + delicious food + reasonable price = winner in my book

Grace Koshida

Regular sized poke bowl with furekake brown rice and 2 choices of poke: Hawaiian and special shoyu.

Rosemary Hallaren

Best poke EVER. Walked 2 miles to get there... not my smartest moment, but WORTH IT. The food was fresh and the guys working were SO NICE. Wish I lived on the island so I could go every day!

Annie Wilson

Definitely a hole in the wall! Walked passed it, behind it, around it multiple times. It was worth the wild goose chase. It’s on the second story of this complex. There isn’t a sign for it but look for the long line in the corner upstairs. I got a large and my boyfriend got the regular size. Will not lie, we took a quick power nap after eating it because it fills you up. I got two of the top sellers (I believe it was spicy and spicy soy) and the ginger. It was probably the best poke I have had.

Charles Lamb

Very satisfying Poke bowl in a slightly hard to find (go upstairs) venue that looks like a hole in the wall. Spicy is a fairly traditional mayonnaise/sriracha based blend that carries a good amount of heat. Lunatic and Hawaiian are equally satisfying. All with raw white onion and scallions. Eat it on the spot while leaning on the rail on the upper balcony or take away. Served up fast and fresh and worth a visit if you are in the mood for poke.

Tiffany Oda

Everything here is delicious. It's a little hole in the wall place, no seating. Just order at the register. (+) Accept credit card (+) Baked ahi. So yummy. The mushrooms and crab add a lot of good flavor. (+) All of the poke. I particularly like the spicy, Hawaiian, and secret.

James Hyatt

Best Poke Ever !

Christa Ready

Yes Please!!!! This place is fantastic poke!!! And super friendly staff let us try the diff flavors to make sure we would love it!! Thank you guys!!! Keep keepin on!!!

Laurena Alm

Hella bomb! Come visit these guys for Shoyu Garlic

Matthew Schmidt

Best poke I have ever had. Got the chance to taste all of the flavors, all excellent.

Evie Ramos

Very tasty poke and loved the fish bones too. Quick service too.

Pascal Marquis

The food and the staff was amazing. I would had like to have a place to eat on site.

Neha Malhan

The lunatic tuna was absolutely dynamite and the guys running this place are so great. They let us sample everything and had a great vibe about them, ended up throwing us a free container of poke to take with us. Best poke on the island

Avniel Naidu

Best poke on the island so fresh and such great favors. It just melts in your mouth. Every time I come into town I have to stop by. It will become the poke you compare other pokes to it's that good.

Amilcar Diaz

Unassuming hole in the wall with no seats but great Poke. We liked every last bite. Lastly , one of the guys behind the counter was super friendly and helped us choose something we’d like. Overall great place.

Kasaundra Salinas

Amazing!! Fresh fish caught that day and then served in a poke bowl. The Marlin smoked dip was great!! It is a hole in the wall, up the stairs in a small strip mall and totally worth searching it out.

Chops Wunda

Definitely one of the best spots on the island! Real mom n pop shop. Freshly caught fish. Everything was amazing! SHout out the whole staff!

Chris Tanjuaquio

Might seem kind of skeptical, but go!! I've had many pokes on the island... and this is on my TOP 3 LIST! Amazing to-go food. Not a sit down, but this place will get bigger over time and much more popular so get it when it's a "hole in the wall" and secret even some of the locals haven't hear of! The Secret Shoyu Poke & Smoked Marlin Dip is where it's at! You'll thank me later :)

Mr. 3vino

I was worrying about trying raw fish, but I'm so glad to try the poke. It turned out to be the most delicious meal on my trip to Oahu! I can't wait to have it again in the future.

Gina Maria Cohen

Most amazing poke at this take out only, hole in the wall! Would come back to Honolulu just to have another plate of The Lunatic or Classic! Beat poke we’ve ever had, fresh, delicious reasonably priced. Don’t miss it!

DanayMichelle

I saw this place on "Worth It" before spending a few weeks in Hawaii! When I got there...OMG! Such a local spot. Eat in the parking lot or on the balcony, but the food is FLIPPING FANTASTIC!!! I could be here all day talking about the bag of bones....best spot in Honolulu HANDS DOWN!!!

Jason Kinner

Some of the best poke around. It's tough to find on the 2nd floor but worth the search! I can't wait to get back to try some more... Worth every penny for sure. We ordered about 5 different types of poke and loved every one. I can't recommend this place enough if you are in the area.

cris blunt

We where on Oahu for a week. We where very un impressed with the food on the island. The last day we went here and it was absolutely amazeing . The poki was killer but the the smoked Marlin dip was by far the best seafood dip i have had ever. The staff was super cool.

NobleMusicPlayer

Always check your order. Known to mess up simple orders.

Tuan Tran

Awesome food for a awesome price

Brian Villalovos

Fish is very fresh and good mixed bowls. Very well marinated and service is fast.

Kristin K

Do your tummy a favor and go here. Get the smoked Marlin dip too. Can't go wrong with anything else on their menu.

Swangbee

Great fish. Cool staff

Tony Ferrelli

Killer poke. Lots of choices, first time having Marlin poke. On 2nd floor so follow maps but look up or u will miss it. No seating so it's to go or to eat in car but well worth it.

Football Guy

5 Stars! Ahi bones and the dip! OMG lol

Frank Simmons

I saw this on a Buzzfeed video on Youtube, I was really excited to go... gotta say, unfortunately it wasn't very satisfying. I ordered two poke bowls, different types. We didn't like them, though the rice was good. By comparison, I went to a local grocery store in Northern Oahu and got some poke, it was amazing. Not really sure why the hype, and the price is really high for this type of food. Wish I could give it a better review, I really wanted to love it.

D. Kano

Saw it on BuzzFeed Worth It...and it was totally worth it. Fresh, succulent ahi with their signature spicy sauce simply took me to heaven. $10 for regular size (7 oz. Of fish plus 2 scoops of rice). No table service, but poke is not really a sit-down table food anyway. Got the Lunatic. Will try other flavors next time.

Peter Wallis

Good, but not as good as I hoped. I've had better (and more varied) poke in Seattle, at several shops. Still, delicious, and filling.

Max Davis

Phenomenally good, fresh, creamy fish! The secret shoyu was my favorite dressing. Tip: it's up on the second floor of the plaza, don't get discouraged by the closed business on the first floor...

Jonathan Almaguer

I went after they were covered in the News for Cheap Eats. It’s upstairs in a lot, very small but you won’t miss it. I went inside trying to order and no one inside asked for my order. They had a tablet with the options to order faced towards the customers. After placing an order and giving them a tip, I asked if I had to take the receipt. Someone told me I could take it. I waited 15 mins and watch people get their orders taken after me and get their orders before me. I walk back inside and someone asks me if I need help and I explain to them what happened. I didn’t even want the poke and wanted to change the order. They tell me I shouldn’t have done that and gave me my original order. Then they tell me to sample the food because I probably wouldn’t be back. You are right I won’t be back. I gave it a chance to eat elsewhere other than the university. I should have ate at the university and the poke comes with the rice. If they would have changed my order, I would not give them such a low rating. But because they didn’t help me that’s why they get this rating. 1 star for the customer service and 2.5 for the poke.

William Ashinhurst

Walked in 10 minutes before close, got delicious Poke to go and was out within 5 minutes.

Dennis Skrzycki

Had a lot of poke but this hole in the wall, not easy to find, was the best I had. Get the lunatic!

Josh Hansen

Amazing, best poke we found all over the island, line caught. Easy to miss because the shopping center is small, it's on the second floor. Parking can get tricky.

Daniel M. Cohen

Wow, this place is great! The poke is delicious (oyster sauce and secret shoyu, are particularly good) and they make a smoked dip that is not something I was expecting, but now I need in my life. Note: there is no seating, only takeout, and it is a little hard to find; it is on the second floor of a strip mall (see picture). The owner is also a really nice guy! Must go!

Dan B

Absolutely fresh and amazingly seasoned.

Jacque Lindeman

Their fish is always...ALWAYS on point. Place is a bit hard to find and isn't flashy, but who cares as long as the fish is awesome!

Vu Nguyen

Fresh and amazing staff

H Ratansi

Great food. Hole in the wall feel, but high quality food and customer service. If you don’t try the poke here, you’re missing out on a great local experience.

ZachTKai

Yo last time I came here (food is great btw) I saw the guys from buzzfeed worth it and that was pretty cool. I recommend the lunatic for its classic poke style as well as it’s spicy kick.

Gary Fung

Located on the second floor of a small street plaza. There was no sign, you will pass by it 10 times without ever noticing its existence. We were led to here only because of the high rating on the web. The take-out only restaurant's specialty is poke bowl made of Hawaiian wild line-caught fishes served in a variety of sauces. The day's fresh catch was tuna when we got there.

Nancy Nguyen

One of those hole-in-the-wall spots that have fantastic quality food. Looks sketch but you will not regret trying this place. The Pan-seared Furikake Ahi was delightful. Also tried the Kalua Pork with Hawaiian Poke and that was really good as well.

Lonny Wiessner

Very good, fresh fish, good costomer service, take out only no tables

Debdeep Bhattacharya

Probably the best place for poke in entire Honolulu. The place is located upstairs with no seating area. Usually there is a line. The staff are friendly and the service is quick. The portion size is generous and the flavors are mouth-watering. My favorite is the spicy Hawaiian.

Rumika Suzuki Hillyer

Wow, WOW Ahi Assassins, you’re out of league. I used to love you and bring people here when guests come to the island, but not anymore. Hawaii is the island of poke, and I have zero reasons to come back to you again. The worst customer service and bad quality of food— what a dealbreaker. Two college age boys were working today, neither of them were new, but apparently today wasn’t their favorite day at work. I asked the what seasoning is used in “secret”, and a boy over the counter prickly said secret is basically just shoyu based poke. Aha! No wonder it’s called “secret,” right? Also yes I can read the label and see that it’s on shoyu based category in the glass thank you. He also didn’t bother asking me if I want furikake over rice or not. I ended up getting a think layer of furikake, thanks again for not caring. The cashier went back to his phone 0.001 second after he gave me change. This is the first time they failed to mention about grabbing utensils and napkins, and also I didn’t hear thank you as I left the store which usually is not the case for this shop. I was only customer at that time, so of course they were not busy at all. I was kinda shocked and perplexed by the unpleasant experience just happened, but told myself whatever, who cares if food tastes good. And AGAIN last surprise it was the least fresh looking/taste poke I ever got in my life. My sesame and spicy Hawaiian tasted like they would go bad and inedible in a few hours. the color of fish was not glossy shining, you might say it’s because it’s been marinated for hours. But it won’t look this muddy if fish was fresh. I’ve eaten enough fresh seafood in my life, including the times coming Assassins pretty often, and can say this with confidence that this is NOT what fresh poke looks like and tastes like. Mind you that I opened my food 5 minutes after I bought it. Also again, you seriously don’t need this much of furikake to enjoy the flavor of poke. I started feeling sad and disgusted so couldn’t even finish a half of it. Also, two pokes were on top of each other and couldn’t really taste either one decently. I really regret that I wasted my money, it would have been better if I bought a sushi bento from Nijiya. I’m usually hesitant of writing a negative review, but I know that todays store’s situation is something the owners wouldn’t be proud of, and as I write this I’m hoping that owners will check on boyz and the store more often to ensure the quality if they ever read this.

Dean P

This place is cool, the staff are great and the food was super fresh. Make sure you put this on your list. You'll regret not going.

G Tom

If you want fresh and true local poke and fried fish. You have to come here. Super nice and local guys that catch and cook what they catch. Super fresh and Ono.

Tyler McPheeters

VERY good poke, this was easily one of our favorite food stops on the island. Incredibly bold flavors complemented very fresh fish for an excellent pairing. It’s on the 2nd floor, look for the fish flags to find it.

A A

The food is amazing and so is the service. I absolutely recommend. The fish is fresh and you can see into the kitchen area, which is kept incredibly clean. I cannot stress enough how wonderful they are in quality, cleanliness, and customer service.

Araceli Valencia

Best poke place in the island

Paolo Tolosa

Don't be fooled by the outside...best poke l've ever had

David Steed

Amazing poke and friendly service! And as a bonus - allergy friendly! My wife has severe allergies to nuts, eggs, and wheat so eating out is always difficult, but these guys knew exactly what was in their food and made sure hers was safe!

S&P500

Check out images of location before going. I had to double back for missing entrance. Ahi was very fresh... picked up 3 scoops of most popular ahi. Also picked up Baked Ahi per recommendation. If tuna casserole is your thing. This is the decent dish. If it isn’t, I would recommend not taking the recommendation. Imitation crab meat with over baked cheese, tuna, mushrooms, etc... isn’t my thing. My impression is it is recommended because it takes the least amount of work and gets you out quicker. It’s probably baked in one large batch in the morning and afternoon then served all day. Haven’t tried any of the grilled fish, but will probably explore other spots. If their baked ahi is their top seller... the. I’ll pass on the rest. Saving grace... their fresh Ahi (poke) was off the hook awesome! Very well seasoned. Blows competition away.

Alex Escamilla

This was the best food I ate in Hawaii - delicious fresh fish prepared perfectly and with many creative flavors of poke. Everything top notch including the friendly and amazing staff! Very special experience.

Justin Williams

Best Poke and Fish in Hawaii

Audrey Edwards

Good and quick

Linda Schoene

Glad we found this place! Second level of a small L shaped retail center. No sign, only fish flags hanging over the wall. Incredibly fresh fish. We had the order with 3 types of poke, enough to split between two people. Get the smoked fish dip as well! Amazing. Very friendly helpful people. No tables, you can eat at Frost City downstairs - and get their mango smoothie!

Margaret Lu

Poke here is great, the fish is really soft and flavorful. There's interesting sauces here including ones with ginger, which I like. No seating and kinda hard to find (building literally looks like an old apartment) but the fish more than makes up for it. Also conveniently located on line of some major bus routes.

Simon Lavertue

Absolutely delicious. The very kind girl at the service was very happy to let me try all the flavors (did not even have to ask). I have never had someone so happy to help me. The fish was perfect, the rice too and the service over the top. Definetly the best use of the term "hole in the wall". Very small place on the second floor that could be advertised more, but the line of people and the fish banners will give it away immediatly. Ps. Take your bowl and walk 2 minutes to the BeerLab to get an amazing beer with your fish.

Donna Fong

Came here for one thing only...bag of ahi bones! We got a big bag for $16 plus some garlicky soy sauce. If you are an old soul who can appreciate the delicate meat that cuddles the bones an animal but friesbto a salty goodness, this is for you.

Dylan D'Urso

Incredible food. I would eat here everyday while I’m Honolulu if I could. Staff is willing to let you test as many different kinds of poke before settling on your order. I can’t wait to go back again.

Israel Castaneda

Didn't meet my expectations

Dana Cretu

Definitely glad we stopped here. The large ahi with rice was a great size and the guys were super friendly. Thanks Ahi Assassins!

Mila Milic

This place is literally a hole-in-the-wall. Love it! Located on the 2nd floor of a complex, it’s a bit hard to find, and it doesn’t look like they serve food. There’s no seating, so it’s take-out only. We tried the Hawaiian poke plate and the spicy one. The rice was mediocre. But you don’t go for the rice. You go for the fish! The tuna was amazing. So delicious and fresh. This is where the locals eat, so avoid all the other tourist traps!

Brandon Krepel

Don't be thrown off by the location. This poke is amazing. Also don't plan to eat at the restaurant, at all. But seriously friendly staff and top notch poke.

Matt Fluegel-Carew

Picked up some lunch from here before a hike, and it was delicious. The Lunatic and Spicy Hawaiian were both great. They also let us sample them beforehand which was much appreciated.

Brandon Hamilton

Don't be fooled by the appearance. This place serves fresh fish any way you like it - fried, poke, or grilled. You can't go wrong but I would recommend the ahi fried pieces. Don't miss, best food we have had in Oahu.

Christine T

SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!! Ordered the large which is 3 ahis and 2 scoops of rice and it was enough for me and my husband to share, although we weren't starving to begin with. Ordered the wasabi, secret, and Lunatic. Favorite was lunatic!!! Good portion size and pricing. I love that they put the seasoning on the rice too! Wish I could get more, but I was only visiting. ITs located upstairs in a shopping area. Parking available. Fast service!

Jonathan Leung

Portion was huge and the fish was great

Edgar Ruiz

Hands down, the best poke I have ever had. Punches you in the mouth with amazing flavor. Can't give it more than 5 stars, but it's deserving of infinity stars for how great it is. The staff is beyond increíble! Friendly, helpful and all around FANTASTIC. Do yourself a favor and get in here. Support a great business with a great product.

Jonathan Ribbe

An awesome hole in the wall place that is well worth the visit and the (medium) wait. There is only enough space inside for 2 people to stand at the counter and look at the menu so be ready to make a decision in order to keep the line moving. There didn't seem to be a wrong choice as far as the flavor of poke went. The price is agreeable for the amount and quality of ahi and rice you get. The staff is friendly and helpful. Best poke I've had.

Jim G

This poke was fresh and delicious, prices are reasonable, and service was great. Everytime I find myself on the island, I am grabbing poke from Ahi Assassins at least once a week. If you have not tried it, do yourself a favor and get yourself a Lunatic Bowl. Be warn though, there is no seating in their restaurant and parking is limited in the strip mall. Still more than worth it!

Fábio Sambuichi

Amazingly fresh fish. Regular poke bowl with 2 choices of poke and 2 rice balls go for $10.50 w/ tax. Many locals there, but line moves fast.

Tiffany Moy

This place is hard to find; on the second floor. But once we got in and saw how small their operation was, you just knew that this is their one specialty and they did it well. The person helping us let us sample almost everything on their menu, which filled us up already. The tuna was sooooo fresh. Glad we got there early because there were several other patrons behind us by the time we chose our items.

Dave Young

Their poke selection was great. They do a spicy ahi that does not use mayo and instead uses sweet Thai chili sauce. Their special secret recipe sauce is an interesting one if you like five spice, cinnamon, or nutmeg. I was not a big fan of those flavors on tuna.

Dee Tyau

Need a little more rice/poke for the $10 keiki poke bowl. Cut back on onions, too, please

Benjamin Joslin

The best Poke. The sauces are on point and super delicious. When you get to this place it's kind of hard to find their upstairs in the corner worth the trip. We watch them pull some fresh fish out of an ice chest that was just caught. The fish fillets we're so deep red and tender you can't go wrong with the assassins. Make this place famous.

Enobong Essien

The quality of food is amazing for a ridiculously decent price. A must eat if you're in Honolulu

Ryan Johnstone

The freshest Ahi experience of Waikiki!

Faustina Nguyen

Must go in Honolulu!! The poke is so fresh. The hammah was perfect to share with 2. And the smoked dip was SO GOOD.

Rayne X

Friendly staff. Poke was great. Tried both lunatic and Hawaiian style and we preferred lunatic. Not too spicy at all. Decent sized serving. We could barely finish it. Highly recommended stop for quick cheap yummy food. Note: there's no seating

Nathan Hunt

This place deserves every star it has. No frills poke place with the freshest, best tasting fish you’ll find. Honestly the best poke bowl I’ve ever had. Just the seasoned fish and rice, but trust me you don’t need anything more. Spicy is tremendous, but so is the original Hawaiian, the ginger, and everything else. Can’t go wrong. And generous portions for the price. Couldn’t recommend highly enough. A little tricky to find, not much signage and is on the second floor of a rinky-dink strip mall.

Johnny Lam

Amazing fresh ahi poke. Hard to find as it is in a small parking lot on the second floor. No where to eat or sit but drop on by and grab some poke. Once u have it, you can take it to the beach :) anazing service and friendly folks. They give you large helpings that are flavorful and packed with feesh fish.

B L

Freshest of the fresh tuna. They let you try every flavour before you choose your poison. Amazing flavours and staff

Diana Vitela

So I had heard that this place was really good, and when in Rome right? It was a little hard to find when I entered the plaza, there's a sign that says Ahi Assassins but not really pointing anywhere. It's on the second floor on the LEFT CORNER. It's small but the food is to die for. They have a list on the a board that tells you what is the most popular food options. Recommended, if we are ever in Honolulu again we are sure to stop by.

Jerm Ray

BEST AHI I'VE EVER HAD!!!! I had the Lunatic and spicy ahi. My mom had the Hawaiian. The cooked ahi plates are seared furikaki ahi and seared garlic ahi

John Sutton

10/10 would hire again for Ahi hit jobs - highly recommended. But seriously, these guys ruined all other poke for me.

Dan Brackett

Only Ahi, wonderful. 6 varieties all worth the reasonable price.

Alison Mitro

Delicious food and great staff. This is not a sit-down place... it's tiny and takeout only. It's located on the top floor (back left) of the little plaza it's within so is a bit hard to find. Definitely would return!

Ryan Paris

Great little Fish Co nestled into what looks like it used to be an old motel. No where to sit, its literally a doorway to Oder food to go. GREAT PLACE! DEFINITELY CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!

Chris P

A little tricky to find it is on the second floor in a very small plazza. Absolutely the best Poke on Oahu. These guys catch it all and cook it all themselves. Gave me samples of literally everything they make. Had to go back twice!

William Yun

Your first impression will most likely be, "this is the wrong place." You thought wrong. Fresh fish, every day. If you go early enough, you can get a bag of bones(parts of the fish, fried for pleasurable consumption). Quality rice, great seasoning, great and fresh fish, and great staff. Very low-key spot so you can probably get in and out in 5 to 10 minutes, or even instantly. The only this is that there's no seating inside, which is honestly fine by me.

Sarah Janiak

Really good fresh fish. Great poke! Quick and friendly service. Definitely going back again and again.

Susana Véstia

Amazing take away place with best Poke in town and super friendly staff. We’re so happy we followed the recommendation that took us here! Don’t get put away by the looks of it, small door in an unassuming building. You’ll find delicious fresh fish prepared perfectly. We ate at the place downstairs, frostcity, where we ordered drinks and frost for desert. And we had a lunch to remember!

Florin Suciu

Love their fish!

Christie Widiarto

Quality of fish was excellent. Rice was well cooked. I only took away a star because (1) I think you should use environmentally friendly packaging and (2) the owners were absent and the guys serving me were fine... but there was a noticeable disinterest in serving me (eg, presentation of food wasn’t as great as other photo reviews, looking at phone most of the time, didn’t offer me cutlery)... despite the fact I was the only customer at the time. I’m being fussy and I would definitely still recommend you guys :)

Elvin Piring

When visiting Honolulu and the Waikiki area, this place is a must-stop to pick up a to-go pack of some of the freshest fish and poke on the island! Highly recommend the Lunatic poke and for a special, protein-packed snack, make sure you order a bag of fried bones (think super meaty fish ribs).

Brian Koehler

Simply the best and freshest poke. Lunatic for the win

Rahul Singh

Amazing poke! Must try in Oahu

Gurprit Gill

Great poke! Tried all three of their flavours. Excellent taste.

Haixing Wang

Amazing, fresh, melt in your mouth poke, definitely one of the best poke shops I've been to on the island and I've been to many. I was nearby and am soooo glad Google Maps recommended this place to me. This little place is a complete hole in the wall but deserve far more attention. The Lunatic is my favorite out of all, the sauce is absolutely perfect. Amazing staff, helpful and friendly. I will definitely return!

David Levy

Incredible. The lunatic tuna just changed my life.

Shane Shipley

Best Poke in North America!

Franklin Portillo

Had the lunatic and Hawaiian style poke bowl. Great flavors on both and healthy portions as well.

Brandon Lives

It's got the type of poke you imagine the locals eat. Simple plate of rice and fish, but it's super fresh and so tasty. We tried the Hawaiian style and the spicy, the original was simple and delicious, but the flavour in the spicy version was outstanding. It's a bit tricky to find, and doesn't look like it serves food when you look up at the balcony from the carpark below. But make sure you check it out if you are in Honolulu. Awesome food.

amanda

Absolutely great service and the freshest fish you will ever taste! You’ll want to come back time and time again!!

dolan leung

Tasty poke with fresh fish. It's a to go place. On the second floor

David W. Stout

Great fresh poke a and some of the best flavor styles

Eric Lachance

DELICIOUS. Only downside, no seating, only takeout.

Mike Tu

The poke is amazing here! The regular poke bowl gets you two flavours and the large gets you three. They also let us sample their smoked fish dip, which was amazing as well. Not the most noticeable place since it's on the second floor in the middle of the plaza. Look for the colourful fish flags and remember that this is a take out only place.

Curtiss Weaver

Totally "Worth It"! The food was great, and the staff were wonderful. They will let you taste all of what the offer, so I guess you could potentially get full just from that... lol Anyway worth it YouTube channel is where I heard about the place, and I'm glad I did, this place is awesome.

Droid Box

We ate twice here while we stayed in Oahu. I must say they have the freshest fish compare to other places. I recommend ppl to try this place during your travel and just skip the other places recommended by others. We have tried their Merlin fish and Ahi fish with pake, their signature lunatic and garlic shoyu flavor. No complaints at all. Fish selection depends on catch of the day, so it really depends on what they got from the sea to determine what fish they have for the day.

Megan O'Connor

Best poke I had while visiting Oahu. Maybe best poke I’ve ever had in my life.

JIMRA333

This place has the best fish on the island and the guys that work there are all about helping first time customers and returning enthusiasts! I'm definitely going to be back and I'll be bringing all my friends with me!

Christofono Brown

Difficult to find but worth the effort! No tables so everything is takeout. Spicy poke bowl and seared ahi were both great.

Justin Reevers

Great spot...small parking lot. There's no place to eat-in. I'm not a fan of mayo so it's nice they make a spicy tuna without mayo...but they do have a spicy sauce that seems like it may be mayo that comes on other items might want to ask for that on the side or not at all as it can be a bit much. But it's ono (delicious)

Mike Lam

Great fresh ahi tuna poke, with a other amazing hot selections too. Don't be fooled by the strip mall looking location.

My daughter read about Ahi Assassins on Buzzfeed. They raved about what a great place this was and the fish was amazing. So my daughter added A.A. to our must to see list when we were in Honolulu. At first the location itself seemed a bit sketchy, being that it's located on the second floor of an old motel style structure. We were the only ones at 5:30pm, but the second we stood at the door all doubts disappeared as the aroma of the food being cooked hooked us. My wife and daughter placed there orders for the last portions of Ahi for the day as another family of five stepped up to place their order for the same. Unfortunately they were out of the Ahi, but had plenty of Marlin from the days catch. The fish was fresh and prepared properly. The owners were fast, friendly and fun. These are a couple of assassins that you must pay to have the fish you love whacked. THE BEST!

Hole in the wall kind of place, upstairs in the little strip mall. Not hard to find if you know where to look. As they catch their own fish, they have some of the best Ahi poke in town. While you're there, get some of their Marlin dip with chips as well, it goes super with drinks and Hawaiian sunsets.

Amazing, absolutely the freshest poke you'll find in Honolulu

I’m not going to lie; the first time I saw this place, I wondered what am I walking into? It looks like an apartment building or an abandoned office plaza, definitely not a place that would serve seafood. But, I am so glad we did check it out. It was absolutely the foodie surprise of the trip! Probably the best Poke I’ve had. I can’t wait to go back.

This whole in the wall is pretty darn good! Hands down, it had the freshest poke I had while i was on my trip in Oahu. I kept it simple because I wanted to save room for more foods that day, but it was just enough to try it and have a good taste of their items. There was a line of perhaps 4 minutes wait time. This place is located upstairs on the 2nd floor. There is no seating available, but there is a nice small park area across the street if you wished a small green area to sit down at. Order to go is a must! I had four ounces of their Spicy Poke, and four ounces of their Hawaiian Poke. They were both deeelicious! The person who took my order was nice and helpful. He helped with making some suggestions, and it in fact did help me make my decision. Their menu is a little confusion due to it being a little cluttered and unorganized. But just take your time and you'll get it. I will definitely come back here to try more delicious Poke!

Delicious!!! Shop is on the second floor of a tiny plaza. There is parking our front. Definitely a must.

Amazing poke, great flavors. You can sample before you buy. It's upstairs next to frostcity. No place to sit and eat but you can get a drink at frostcity and eat there

David Oliveira

I love the choices here, and as my first visit I was lucky enough to have others with me so we could sample a few. The fish is fresh and the rice is near perfect. Simple ahí poke done right.

What an absolutely superb box of foof. Fresh tuna soaked in a well balanced relish. Fresh and super yum! Really worth getting here it's not far from downtown

Scott Riggs

The crew running this place absolutely made our day. They were friendly, hilarious, and made amazing poke. I can't recommend this place enough. Just go, you'll be happy you did.

Simply amazing!!!!!!!!!! Tucked away up on level 2 in the corner.. The poke is amazing here! The regular poke bowl gets you two flavours and the large gets you three. They also let you sample everything first. Get a bag of bones as well!!! Everything here is delicious. Serive standards is also amazing. Only pitfall is parking... but literally park at burger king next door and take a short walk.

Food was great and fresh. Only down side is I walked by the place 3 times before I saw the small poster for it. Still worth it!!

Michael Hong

It's on the second floor. Definitely worth it. Come early to beat the lines. Bag of bones is a great deal. Some of the best poke

If you want local, it won't get more local than this. The most important thing you need to know is this is a takeout only place. But they make some amazing poke. The multiple poke options are all delicious and the Ahi smoked dip is out of this world. It is also VERY cheap. We got two poke bowls which was more than enough for two, for a total of $18. You can't beat that.

Fantastic hole in the wall spot. Try the platter with their top 3. You won't regret it.

Chris Mohr

A little hard to find (it's upstairs), but totally worth it. The guys there are very friendly. We came in with 5 people and they let us taste all of the flavors. It was delicious. After the extensive samples, we left with 3 large servings of poke.

I have Celiac disease and I was determined to find a place for me to safely eat poke in Honolulu. They are the only spot in Honolulu that advertises gluten free poke. When I went in they didn't have any available, but made me my own batch. They asked exactly what I wanted and made sure they used all clean bowls and cookware. I wanted to cry they were so kind and accommodating. I talked to them for awhile because of how awesome they were. Uncle Henry told me how the tuna was caught THAT DAY by the owner and he was slicing and dicing it right there. You can't get much fresher than that folks. Come here. Take the bus from the Waikiki area or walk. It's well worth the trip.

Jeremy Campos

The freshest poke on the island! You will literally see them cutting down a giant tuna for the poke they will be using. The smoked marlin dip is pretty on point too.

Layton Lau

Got a regular poke bowl with their Lunatic Poke and it was absolutely delicious! You can tell their poke was fresh from the block just by tasting the poke itself; soft, delicate, and not fishy at all! Their Lunatic Poke can be spicy, but it was just the right amount of spicy for me! Love their food and will back again for more poke cravings.

conner fitzgerald

Worth the wait!

Mitch Rollow

The definition of a hole in the wall place. Excellent poke all around! Definitely recommend lunatic.

Dave Carter

Your first impression of this place is “this can’t be it....”. Little hole in the wall on the upper level of the building. But these guys make some damn good poke. It’s so fresh and flavourful. They let you sample the poke before you buy to help decide. Each one is as good as the next! Love this place.

Anthony Z

Great poke. One the second floor, a little hard to spot if you don't know

Eugenia Wong

Truly hole in the wall but one not to be missed! Read about this place on Reddit and popped by for a quick lunch. We got two of the top three flavours (one of them being spicy which was a really nice balance of spice and seasoning) and thoroughly enjoyed it! The fish was fresh and although the regular portion seemed small at first, it was actually perfect for lunch! Would definitely recommend if you want an authentic poke bowl experience.

James Chou

First visit. Hole in a wall poke place. In a crowded poke scene, PA didn't really stand out for me. It is good but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. We didn't try their hot food this visit.

Robin Read

Awesome Poke when you've got a craving. I wish you could get it this good in the UK!

Darrin Erwin

Best Poke ever! The ahi tastes unbelievably fresh, the rice was perfect. And the flavour is out of this world. There Lunatic ahi is absolutely amazing.
