My go to spot when I first came here. They had smoking inside which was great as a smoker, but they no longer have it which is also great for everyone now. Everyone is super nice. Service is great and burgers are consistently great too. Come here for a good outing with coworkers, visitors, first dates, or hang at the rail alone. You'll find yourself a good time.

If you’re looking for the best burger in town, look no further. The Vortex is the place to get your burger craving fixed. They have an extensive menu with lots of burgers. I enjoyed mine as it had bacon and BBQ sauce. I wouldn’t choose any other place to get a burger. You will not be disappointed.

Im not overly impressed....it was a good burger prepared just how I ordered (mid-rare) it lacked that something extra though.... the fries were very average at best, I'd compare them to fast food fries, not what I was expecting with all the hype about the place. love their menu because their cover lists all the "rules" for dining in that should be followed, and it may not be entertaining for everyone to read but as a server every bit of it makes sense!! I got their Hell's Fury burger which has a good kick to it but still enjoyably hot! Nicely sized burger that's not too overwhelming but not small. The fries were good also and they have quite a couple of options for sides as well! Our server was very upbeat and I enjoyed his attitude and knowledge about the menu. He fore warned me about the spice level of the sauce in my burger before I ordered to make sure that I knew the sauce can be put on the side just in case :)

This place lives up to the hype. Many burger joints fail at the main ingredient of their sandwiches being good.. They focus on everything except the flavor of the meat, Vortex focuses on it all. I really enjoyed the flavor of the burger and the perfect char achieved on the patty The appetizers were clever and also delicious. To think that our entire party was fed for under $100 is amazing.. We are used to forking out $300+ when we all get together. I truly appreciate this restaurant. Note, the decor is not family friendly, but they don't hide this. Don't let this deter you.. The food is good

Interesting place and interesting menu! Definitely has something for everyone and anyone. The holy guacamole burger & the pulled pork one are great at this location.The fries are also good. Their fried pickles are amazing along with the sauce they serve with them. I prefer this location! Highly recommend.

Great experience! The food was amazing and their service was awesome. Myself and two other went in on a weekend trip and it was pretty busy but worth the wait. Their prices are affordable and we will absolutely be back whenever we are in the area.

I've been coming here since 2007. You really can't beat the burgers here. This place, along with the one in little five, are always on point. The burgers are always made to order correctly, and the variety is unique. I'll go out of my way for a Vortex burger. The decor is not what I'd think is traditionally family friendly, but that's very well noted upfront by the establishment. That being said, if you prioritize the food at a restaurant, you should stop by here.

Delicious burgers. I always try to come here when I visit Atlanta. The Black and bleu is delicious. But I'm a huge fan of that caviar of the South, and they will put a big scoop of pimento cheese on your original vortex burger. I recommend the bacon and cheese vortex burger with pimento cheese. They give you a lot of tots too. I would recommend either getting a total based appetizer and something different for your side, or a different appetizer and tots on the side. I think this place is a must try.

My girls and I waited almost two hours to be seated. We when checked on our status (1hr 15 min. in), they had crossed us off the list and marked us seated. We still waited because it's the Vortex right?! My burger was ok, nothing crazy. I had one of the melts. Fries were very good! Didn't have a drink because I was turned off by how long I had to wait. The girls in the front were slightly apologetic that's all. I expected more.

I have been to vortex multiple times as a student. After the initial hype I can unequivocally state that I will never go back to Vortex again. Not only is the food extremely greasy, limited for a vegetarian, tasteless and overpriced (they charge ridiculous substitution or upgrade charges) , I found their service staff to be rude and condescending. At one point, one of the managers used the term 'nonsense' to refer to us. Their seating policies for large groups are unfriendly towards customers. All their food is submerged in mayo. There are Much better burger places in Atlanta with friendlier staff!

Interesting decor that I found myself looking at the entire time I was there. Kind and attentive staff. Oh yeah, please do yourself a favor and order the funnel cake fries for dessert. You will not regret it!

Went in for an impossible burger paid $15 to park waited 20 minutes just to be told there none, should have put a sigh on the door, no fish, no shrimp, like why are you even here if you can’t serve everyone and then theirs a nasty veggie burger i can make at home..Super disappointing ruined my night actually! So I’m watching my husband enjoy his burger while i eat air or Fries .. keep in mind $15 parking ! Gave it a 2 because it’s not her fault.. please expand your menu and let people know ahead of time you’re out of something! I could have went elsewhere!

Awesome place for burgers that are not run of the mill. I had the Pickle Rick and would definitely get it again. Also, be aware that children are not allowed, or should not be allowed, in this place. There is a lot of adult only content, which makes it not kid friendly.

It’s always an option to go with friends from other countries or states. The atmosphere is really cool and relax, the service is very friendly and the portions are great! Definitely one of the place that you must stop when you come to Atlanta. And for us is this location, since that the other one is smaller and the service is less friendly. Just keep in mind that is NOT a family place, it’s just for people over 21.

First time in Atlanta last night , and Vortex definitely sparked my interest. I will give them plenty of credit where it is due, it is an awesome restaurant. The environment is killer, the menu, and the food is great, and the service is exceptional. The major let down came when I ordered a “vortex original” drink , and so did my girlfriend. Come on man. We received the most poorly made pitiful looking concoction you’ve ever seen. A few floating ice cubes, absolutely no wow factor, and it tasted okay I guess. I just personally feel if you are going to have that environment and all of that potential at least provide some decent drinks. I’ll be back to give it another shot!

Hung out with some friends. Service was good. Atmosphere was fun but not what inwas expecting at all. Had a few drinks and the cheese balls were actually pretty freaking awesome. Good time and the decor is definitely something to sat the least.

Great food! Fried plantains as a side makes me happy. Nice people. And even though they allow smoking, it was fine since it was an off time and we sat in a booth far away from the bar area. The smoking thing keeps me from going more often, but I love it when I can go!

This place is GREAT. The rules on the menu are hilarious and so are all the little and big trinkets all around the restaurant. I think besides the food being amazing the fact that the price will shock you as well. It literally is as cheap as a fast food restaurant.

The food was absolutely amazing. The BEST burger I have ever eaten in my life! I only gave 4 stars due to the service. Our server was very bland and very slow. We waited a long time to order and then NEVER saw our server again. Thank goodness the glasses are large because we never received any refills or offers of refills. When we finally got our checks she disappeared again and it took forever to pay. Once she came back for our payment, she walked over to the register to process our payment. Then suddenly she takes our cards and runs to the back and was gone forever again. I was super worried about why she would disappear with my Credit card. When she returned I asked her why she went to the back and she said that register was being “glitchy” even though I saw other servers using it.....

Super duper enthusiastic waiter I had. Sounded like he took hospitality classes. He could have passed for counter service at a 5 star hotel. Treat him well, I did on the tip. The bacon cheeseburger I had was great. The menu has a good selection. The drink menu was insane. Been wanting to try something? Go to The Vortex. I also love their good luck charm you're encouraged to rub. It's too bad I was in town for business or I'd go back.

My best friend and I went to Atlanta for a weekend away. A local recommended Vortex to us and I'm so glad they did. I LOVE cheeseburgers and Vortex didn't disappoint. I had a peanutbutter and plantain cheeseburger which was amazing. Accessibility wise, I don't remember the bathrooms, but I do remember being able to navigate on the outside patio better than inside because it was really crowded.

I visited this place after work to meet with some friends. We were a big party (12 of us). And it took some time to get seated. But we understood why. Our servers were very hospitable & attentive to our needs. They ensured that our food/beverage orders were correct by checking the orders twice. This is place to visit if you wish to have a good burger while in Atlanta. The variety of the burgers are unmatched. And I would definitely substitute my fries for the Tater Tots! With fairly big burgers, most of my friends didn't finish their meal. And had to take a to-go box with them. The atmosphere has an eclectic vibe to it. But it allows you to be comfortable rather than being uptight in most sit-in restaurants.

Awesome place to eat some of the best hamburgers in atlanta. The staff was incredible with us (like a plus they also speak in spanish). I have to say that it took a while to serve us the food but the taste complement the time that we wait. Likewise, the amount was considerable huge, even the soda, so if you don't eat a lot, you could share it....!! In front the place there is a parking lot...!

They have an an attached comedy club for nightly shows. No one under twenty-one in the restaurant or the club.

Best burgers in Atlanta. They have a great basic burger, but explore the menu they have some unique variations that are quite flavorful including the heart stopping coronary bypass burger. Midtown location has a pay to park lot directly across the street. Do expect to wait for a table during peak hours. This is a very popular spot with both locals and tourists.

The Vortex Bar & Grill, in Midtown Atlanta, is a 21 and over location, with ID check at the entrance. It is relatively dark inside, with a random assortment of knickknacks, retro-inspired art and decor, and post-modern art hanging throughout the walls and from the ceiling. The Vortex is a restaurant that doesn't take itself too seriously and highly encourages patrons to be the same. This is reflected throughout the menu and from the general attitude of the employees, which is somewhat refreshing. The Vortex is known, above all else, for their burgers. The selection is daunting, with many being named for their high levels of cholesterol inducing additions. Again though, no one really comes to The Vortex for their healthy choices. The burgers, being famous and the pinnacle of their menu, are definitely worth the calories. I would rate it as some of the best in Atlanta. Service and employees, again not taking themselves too seriously, are quire nice and attentive. Our server made sure to check in with us multiple times while continuing to provide space for us to not feel overwhelmed. He also provided some much needed recommendations which i appreciated. Although The Vortex is known as a bit of a more grungy feel, I definitely recognized the cleanliness within the restaurant and the care that went with the aura. Overall, for how much people rave about the restaurant, I would tend to agree. It's different and unique and they continue to uphold that feel.

Anyone that has heard of this place knows there’s nothing normal about it. Be aware that is is always busy, but just enjoy it. Hang out and get a drink to relax. I usually don’t recommend burger places on vacations, but this place is unique enough and has such great food. Try it out

I'm not too fond of paying to be ignored and treated like dirt. Unless you are Caucasian, this is not the place for you. The food is mediocre at best and the service is deplorable. I've visited this place two times. Neither of them were pleasant but my husband wanted to try it so I accompanied him yesterday, a Monday. We were seated immediately and then ignored for the next 20 minutes. The woman who was serving the table behind us, walked passed us, as did others, numerous times. No one acknowledged our presence until this same sever stood behind my husband's chair looked me dead in my eye, then looked me up and down and walked passed us again. No, "someone will be right with you".... Not a word spoken. She preceded to chat with the guys in the booth behind us. After that, we left. I'm not the first person to have this experience, as seen by some of the other reviews. People of color, please take your money elsewhere. We are not welcome here.

Atlanta, you surely have a better burger to offer. Meat quality is very mediocre as is the seasoning of said beef. My burger tasted like fish (seriously!) and when a new one was brought out it tasted like NOTHING. I should have asked for napkins so I could have just put ketchup on them. HOWEVER...plantains are excellent as are the tots. The tots appetizer was twice the size it needs to be LOL. Service was excellent and very attentive. Atmosphere is really cool and drinks are tasty. Avoid this burger joint if you want good burgers :)

Easily one of the best restaurants I've ever been too!! Was in Atlanta for Super Bowl 53, GO PATRIOTS, and wanted a really good burger. Vortex did not fail, their burger was incredibly juicy and delicious. 10/10 would highly recommend this place to anyone. Anyine over the age of 18 because that's the age requirement for eating here. Has a very cool theme too it.

I didn’t even get a chance to eat here, but the fact that I’m told the wait time is 35 minutes for a 3-top; I’m waiting outside for over an hour and a half is unacceptable. I went in multiple times, and was offered to try and find bar seating (which wasn’t available anytime I checked). Perhaps y’all should consider having more 4-top tables instead of primarily 2-tops. Only upside is that the security guys were cool to talk to.

This is a very nice spot to go hangout and chill, the interior is purely attractive, I was genuinely surprised with the interior. The food we ordered was worth it. We ordered bunch of different burgers and I personally ordered a salad and everything was tasty. The only reason I am giving a 4 star is because the staff were not friendly. Terrible experience and I will never go back. The hostess was extremely rude and inappropriate language. The waiter was just as rude, so if the food is great I wouldn’t know because with that kind of service, I couldn’t imagine it being good at all.

Very eclectic place. Nice vibe and incredible hamburgers. It caters to tourists and out of town groups for business but still is quality place to visit for Atlanta flare and unique experience. Service was terrific and prices are very good.

Adults only. No parking. Bad service. And nothing special about the food. This place is the epitome of the phrase, just cause you can don’t mean you should. As a classically trained chef, my recommendation is don’t bother unless you live nearby and are bored stiff with the “good” options available close by. This is Atlanta, Drive a little further. You will thank me.

If you're over 21 this is the place to grab a bite to eat.... And drink. The staff is wonderful. The ambiance is amazing. The food is on par with places like Ted Turners Grill.... And the whole experience is just sociable.

This place is wonderful. Parking lot right across the street makes dining easy. Very eclectic with several things hanging on the walls and not to mention a very phallic item as soon as you walk in - they do say no one under 21!! The food was delicious and their sayings throughout the restaurant were hysterical and made dining so enjoyable. Will definitely be back!

Burger is above average, I like the avocado one. The tater tots are pretty bomb so make sure you get those. The bartenders have been pretty cool the few times I sat at the bar for drinks. The environment is a little too “look how edgy we are” for me but it seems to gel well with most people.

Huge portions even if you don't get the Quadruple Bypass burger. Great tasting food, and my vegetarian and salad-eating friends were happy, too. Funky vibe really makes the place worth the visit. Wooden "sculpture" when you first round the corner at the bar is unique.

I have a series of highs and lows with the Vortex. I go there every blue moon and have been ride or die for nearly two decades! I have great memories with friends and at least one awful experience where we were treated like second class citizens, but overall I like the Vortex. I am the type to remind folks in the service industry that they are providing a service and that we are all customers that should be treated equally every time we enter the Vortex doors. Overall, I do believe the Vortex gives that, but not always. If I had to rate the two locations -- one in Downtown Atlanta and one in Little Five Points (East Atlanta), then I would rate the Little Five Points area higher than Downtown Atlanta. Downtown has some special treatment of customers at time that leaves little to be desired.

This is a one of a kind environment in ATL. The atmosphere is amazing, food is fantastic, and service couldn't be better. We loved it so much that after leaving to go bar hopping we came back. $3 mystery shots are fun and most other cocktails are well made, but the skull crusher and the other special drink aren't for lightweights. We were both buzzed after just one.

My second time here, and the food never has disappoint!! The vibe and crowd is always cool. My server today, ehh wasn't bad, but nothing exciting either. Definitely the spot if you want a good burger. They also have meat substitutes if you don't want a burger.

I love the everything about the Vortex. The food, drinks, and atmosphere is always good. But last night Mike was our server and he was definitely the WORST server I've ever had. He ruined our entire experience. The food was wrong the drinks were wrong and he tried to bring us the checks before our food came out. I had to get up to go find napkins and silverware. He's a pathetic server. To the point that I had to write my first bad review for anywhere ever...

Spectacular food, especially the burgers. Mac and cheese chimi is a bit messy, but some things earn the cleanup time. Completely delicious! Staff was surprisingly quick, even tho I visited near closing time. Bonus points for properly poured pints of Guinness too!
