REVIEWS OF BoccaLupo IN Georgia

Marie Hernandez

I grabbed the last stool at the bar around 8pm on a Wednesday night. Not too long after I sat multiple spots opened up so it wouldn't be too hard to get seating with a small wait. The bartenders were friendly and provided me with their favorites from the menu. They have a nice cocktail menu but seem to be more well known for their wine selections. I started with a beautiful, picture worthy cocktail that was light, frothy, and delicious. I had come with my mind made up about getting the 20 yolk pasta based on reviews but the server really expressed that her favorite was the chicken liver ravioli so I ended up going with that. It was a beautifully served dish with so many different colors and elements and shapes to the dish. And it was a nice serving too. Sometimes I get worried with ravioli that there will be like 3 on the plate but this was a healthy portion. And at $17-19 for all their main entrees, this place is extremely reasonably priced.

Wisdom Harris

It's nice. The service is good. The food doesn't taste Italian, but it is tasty.

Nathaniel Watts

Great place for Italian food. Food was so appetizing. Service is consistently good. The place has an awesome feel to it. Reminds me of a cafe in Chicago I loved to visit.

Karim Kara

Romantic and playful dining experience. Recommend trying their chefs menu which is more an American Italian fusion

Annie Dorman

Food ok but not a great selection Staff is very nice.

Mike Easley

Interesting cocktails

Jonathan Brou

Great food and service

K Mac

Love, love the food. Don't love the service.

Charlene Pastore

Excellent food & service.

Jacqueline Ward

I love this place, it never disappoints! The pasta dishes are SOOO good, but don’t miss the Chicken Parm dish, and the crispy Lasagna. The cauliflower app is tasty too. My only hesitation is writing this review because it’ll get even harder to get a reservation! Of course I’ll be back, counting the days!

Mountain Top Media

Great food, Great service, Great restaurant.

Alissa Orr

Went here last week for our anniversary. All the apps, pasta dishes, and desserts we tried were delicious. The wait staff were all friendly and attentive. The wine pairings recommended by our server were good. Next time may try the 4-course tasting menu! We had a reservation and were sat promptly. While we diner several other tables remained open the whole time while the bar and patio were busy with people waiting. Not sure if the kitchen was backed up or what. The waitstaff seemed to be tripping over each other with not enough to do while guests were being quoted long waits (over an hour) while tables sat empty. I do wish there were a few more non-pasta options. We don’t eat a lot of pasta so it will likely be a long time before we return.

George William

We’ve been here many times and have never been disappointed. The entree menu is limited but everything is interesting and prepared perfectly. It’s a short walk to Krog Street Market and the Beltline from here. The 20 yolk tagliatelle and the black spaghetti are iconic here. The servers are passionate and knowledgeable about the wine list and the food choices.

Bryan Collins

Do yourself an enormous favor and order the tortellini en brodo. Paradigm-shifting.

AJ Buchanan

Nice intimate setting but somehow still a bit laid-back and casual. Service and food was top-notch as well

Arthur Bruce Jr

Service was very good! The 20 yolk pasta was divine a good size portion with amazing flavor. The garganelli dish was very good but the portion size was small. Would come back again to try another dish

Andie

Tried the black spaghetti and the chicken liver ravioli, both were amazing. I rarely ever am able to clean my plate but I finished everything. Service is also top notch. Would definitely come back.

Alison Moody

Outstanding location for italian food. it's so delicious. it has a cool atmosphere.

Kegan Williams

The food is incredible! The beer and wine selection pairs with the food wonderfully. The staff is very nice and informative. I keep coming back for the risotto, it changes daily!

Ryan Coyne

Rude service, average food, and an awkward atmosphere are all it take to drop this place from average to plain unpleasant. Maybe some of the dishes excel - but the black spaghetti and garganelli leave much to be desired.

Johanna R

Food was just okay, I ordered the gnocchi with ricotta, which was overpriced for the size of the portion, nothing remarkable about it. Service felt rushed, as in the waitress wanted to get done with us as quickly as possible: asked who was going to take the last bite so she could take the appetizer plate away from the table and didn't wait for us to ask for the check, just said she would bring it after we finished dessert.

Rickey Thompson

Although the staff was cool, the food was not that great. Don't let millennials cook for you especially when they're wearing headbands..... Lol

Marty Danceva

I completely enjoyed this cafe, the food is outstanding, and the shower rooms were clean. It was a little chilly inside, really was not perfect. The wait is great. I will definitely think about going back once more if I ever land the possibility. Me and my close friend purchased the sandwiches and we were not disappointed. My one recommendation is to keep the cold exterior. Till next time!

Chloe Applegate

Our meal was excellent. The octopus appetizer was so good. I got the black spaghetti and it was really delicious with shrimp and sausage. Parking was easy and service was great!

Bodie Orman

Tasty. Can get a bit loud on a weekend dinner rush, as would be expected. Lots of pasta. Great place for a date night. Make a reservation

Catherine Moon

Delicious, creative pastas. Great spot for a date night!

John Andrechak

One of my favorite places. Pretty expensive but worth it. Go with 3 others and share dishes family style. It's a great way to sample a lot of their pasta dishes. They also have a sample menu but it's set and might not include everything you want. My favorite was the black spaghetti dish.

Henry Gracz

Some of the food was exceptional the black pasta with red shrimp excellent but the chicken parmesan was an embarrassingly small portion for the price

Kevin Hixson

I have Celiac disease and they are very accommodating. I highly recommend, besides being delicious they have some of the best service out there and their Food is delicious!

Sami Beraki

The pasta was EXCELLENT! I had the pappardelle with bolognese gravy and my significant other had the southern fried chicken parm. Both were delicious! Definitely coming back to try chef's specials, they sounded amazing.

Joshua Zuniga

Lives up to the hype. Great service, cool ambience, not too stuffy. The food was excellent start to finish. Appetizer, main course, dessert, drinks - all great.

Andre Warren

Tasting menu is what we tried. Food tasted great! My favorite is the prosciutto, one of the best I've ever had! I'd love the tasting menu more if the portion of the 3 pasta dishes are smaller, so we could enjoy the ribeye which was the last dish. We were so full at that point that ribeye didn't taste good anymore.

Jack Taylor

Good food, a nice atmosphere, and friendly staff.

Cho Yau Ling

My favorite pasta place in town. Highly recommend the black spaghetti or the 20 yolk-tagliatelle.

Maria Pinto

The server was fantastic! She was very helpful with everything! The atmosphere is nice. The food was good. It's not bad, but I wasn't impressed. For the price, I have had better. But a good place to go for a date. The indoor area is a bit loud, the patio is quieter.

Greg Heathcock

Simply the best. You're in good hands at this fantastic restaurant, from the moment you walk through the door greeted by friendly hosts to knowledgeable and engaging wait staff to wizards behind the bar to the innovative magic happening in the kitchen. You should leave delighted!

Robert Chmielinski

Great food, great ambiance. But it's a mostly white crowd, millennials. Wine recommendations could improve.

Joshua Fryer

The food is always great, regardless if it's a menu staple or a special. One of the best restaurants in Atlanta.

chris svoboda

Super great food - Chef is doing awesome things.

Preston Foster

A life experience. If you love great food, you will have moments that you will always remember. High end food, reasonably priced, great service. Do this!

Robert Schenk

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Possibly one of the best restaurants in Atlanta. I almost didn't want to review BoccaLupo because I want it to remain a secret. Have eaten here now about a half dozen times and it has been consistently excellent. I've done most all the entrees, with my favorite being the chicken liver ravioli, and the tasting menus are spot on. I highly recommend.

Kathy Seybert

Absolutely. Wonderful! Amazing cocktails, food, and service!

Krista Horan

FREAKING UHHHHH-MAZING! Can't even begin to describe what I had except it was the chefs 4 course dinner...MOUTH WATERING! Eddie was our server and he helped me find a wine I truly enjoy since I'm not a winner but I would MOST definitely go back! Great atmosphere and worth every penny.

Joanna Cameron

The chicken parmesan had a lot of fat but the black spaghetti was really good.

Adelaide Taylor

BoccaLupo is an Italian lover's dream come true. Impeccable service. Exquisitely cooked pastas (I've never had a single noodle or gnocchi overcooked). Fresh, local (or house made) ingredients dreamy enough on their own are then combined in innovative ways that will surprise even your most critical guests. Every time I go I cannot wait to come back.

Alexandra King

Nice intimate setting but somehow still a bit laid-back and casual. Service and food was top-notch as well

Greg Gongola

Good pasta dishes, but not worth putting up with the rude service and staff.

Linda Odom

Excellent food, service & ambience. A great date nite spot. Oh the cocktails are really really good.

Joe English

Is "life changing" too strong a word for the food at BoccaLupo? I don't think so. It's wonderful. Enough said.

andie sweetswirl

Excellent food. Bar seats were pretty uncomfortable. Nice atmosphere other than that

Maylin Jimenez

My boyfriend took me for a date night since we are in town. We absolutely loved the place. The setting is inviting and romantic and the service impeccable. Food is cook to perfection. Highly recommend the 4 courses chef's creation it was fun and amaizing. We felt like the prices were really good for the quality of food this place offers. Five stars isnt enough, I cant wait to be back.

Lars B van de Fliert

Disappointing experience. Service was so so and food was Ok, but nothing special. Portions were small and I found a piece of plastic in my appetizer. It was taken of the bill, wish was a nice gesture. I was expecting to have a good secondi, but this place only has antipasta and pasta (and desert)

Brian Sayre

Some of the best pasta dishes around, great spot to bring visiting family and friends

Tom Torrey

This restaurant adds hidden upcharges that they sneak into your bill! Nickel-and-diming guests is a great way to quickly run yourself out of business. It's a shame because the food is actually good.

Jeff Bale

Amazing food, great service, great cocktails!

Alexes Venuti

Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the accolades and high praise. Despite the potential for great ambiance, the acoustics and background noise were so loud, we could barely hear one another across the table. The food was mediocre, with bland flavors and watery sauces, and the daily risotto offering was mushy and absolutely not worth the hefty price tag. With better Italian offerings in the city, I would take this off of your “must-try” list.

Brittany Wilkey

Excellent service, Heather was wonderful. Great atmosphere, taste of music, and the descriptions of the food and wine were excellent

Dominic Aurino

Simply the best restaurant in Atlanta, GA. FOOD 10 DRINKS 10 EXPERIENCE 10.

Chuck Meadows

Attentive, highly trained staff. Inspired menu, exquisite atmosphere.

Stephan Leib

Great food and even better service.

Joseph Gumeny

Great and eclectic menu. Interesting drinks and some they can't do. No non-alcoholic beer but was told I could bring my own? Reservations recommended! Great staff and food! Nice place!

Tim Brothers

Food was great, but service was REALLY slow.

Mur B

Food was awesome and coffees were great! Took us 15 mins to get seated on a Tuesday morning at around 9:40AM. By the time we left there were multiple parties waiting to be seated, so def go early otherwise you'll have to wait. Overall, the restaurant was clean and I love the decorations/paintings on the walls. The only thing was that it was quite loud, maybe because it's summer time and all the kids are out. Would totally go back again if I'm in the area.

Nicole Bonilla

Italian food, mmm, my favorite treat. the place has a great atmosphere. mood here reminds me of san diego's scene.

Eddie Oliver

Manhattan is a must. The food was damn good.

todd williams

Words can't describe how good

Lydia Gerzel

The food and service were off the charts. I highly recommend this place.

Rachel Ragan

This place has a very special place in my heart. The food is always prepared wonderfully and with a lot of creativity. You will never be disappointed with anything you get here. Note that the menu does change. However, I'm not sure of the frequency in which it changes. Can't wait to see you guys next year!

David Holden

This place is definitely a must visit if you are visiting the area! We go here every time we are in town but I would recommend making a reservation because it can get very busy. I typically get the “black spaghetti” which is squid ink pasta and I would highly recommend it!

Mandy Williams

I really enjoyed this restaurant in Atlanta. I went with the black spaghetti and it was amazing! Great wine selection, as well. Will definitely visit again!

Vincent Rebeix

The squid ink spaghetti is the best pasta dish I’ve ever had. This restaurant is making me actively consider moving to Atlanta.

Sydney Hodges

One of my favorite places for delicious Italian food. the bill was fair for the quality of food. they have a lot of great reviews for a reason.

Leslie Campbell

My favorite restaurant in Atlanta! Always amazing.

Hannah Bingham

My boyfriend and his mother and l had dinner for the first time here. He want to introduce me to his mom while eating to kind of ease it in. We actually enjoyed the food and the setting inside is do beautiful.

Alban Bislimi

Great atmosphere and very good food. A place to go.

Sharon Haber

Great food and service. Warm atmosphere. Not cheap but worth it

Milissa Elling

My boyfriend and I LOVE Credo . Always amazing food. Always good portions to share. Great staff. Great service. Love love love this restaurant!

Gina Dodson

Italian food and service at this place is super good. Fell in love with this place from the 1st taste. Service is typically great. It has a cool feel to it. Reminds me of a cafe in Chicago I liked to visit.

Scott Youngblood

This place was great and as an added bonus Thom Yorke came in before his show to eat, so ya know, that was cool too. I had the Black Spaghetti, and it was emo a.f. brooding and spicy. 10/10 will go again.

Preeti Singh

Amazing food. Best Italian down south.

Rachel Antonio

Best Italian food in Atlanta. Reservations are a must. A huge thank you to BoccaLupo for accommodating me even though my reservation was incorrect through Open Table. The food here is phenomenal. Get the roman fried cauliflower and octopus for appetizer. The black spaghetti is a little spicy but oh so delicious. The pappardelle is delicious as well.

Philup Schwien

We are outta towners and we loved this restaurant. My wife and I had a chance to check it out and the service and food were excellent. The prices were higher than other comparable places in Atlanta but otherwise we had a great time.

justin seter

Our food, drinks and experience was epic! My wife and I got a seat at the bar at 7pm on a Tuesday, but just barely. We tried tons of food and it was all incredible, just order everything. Staff was as friendly and helfpul as they could have possibly been. They just earned a couple of regulars!

M E

Always happy with my meal here. Chef does a great job. Service isn't always great but not bad enough to deter me from coming back

Jonathan Kaminski

Been here twice, both times food has felt extraordinarily average. Every single dish we had as a party of 5 was unimpressive when it came to flavor, solid presentation and ingredient use, but clearly missing something in flavor. One of their signature dishes (black spaghetti), was not good, twice. We were a walk-in and the hostess was rude to us when asking questions about wait time. Wouldn’t do the simplest of host tasks and call our party once our table was nearing being ready. Service was way too serious for the venue, not friendly, not accommodating. Once is an off time, twice is a pattern. Don’t think I’ll be back.

Peter DeNatale

In short, it was a mediocre experience. Very tasty food. Subpar service and management. The best service we received was at the door with the two friendly hostesses. The manager came to our table once and briefly checked to see if the food was okay - didn't seem genuine though, just going through the motions. The server we had, Chris, was very rehearsed and stiff, although it seemed like that was the case of all of the servers who looked at you as if you were lower than them and stood up very straight. Chris lacked personality in his service and didn't make an attempt to be inviting or welcoming to the restaurant. The food was delicious. Don't be alarmed by the fact that the calamari is not fried; it was actually better than most calamari that I've had. We asked our server for bread to soak up the juice in the bowl, but apparently "that's not they do it in Italy" so we were denied bread. Having traveled to Italy before, this is not necessarily true. Study up, Chris. I wanted this to be an amazing experience since it was a birthday dinner. They don't do anything for your birthday except stick a candle in your dessert which they still make you pay for. This is my opinion, but it should at least be discounted. Whatever. I probably won't be back to this restaurant any time soon. Tip to the servers and management is to lighten up a little bit and connect with your customers. We're giving you our money not just for the food, but for a pleasant experience and not to get a fully rehearsed meal.

Chris Heller

Top notch. Black spaghetti is da bomb. Can't wait to go back.

Justin White

A temple built by Italian-American cuisine, BoccaLupo is a testament to how truly fantastic pasta can be. Founded by Chef Bruce Logue, each dish is meticulously executed and flavorful; the result of Bruce rarely stepping out of his kitchen, let alone from behind the hot line. Recommendations include the country-fried chicken parm, twenty yolk tagliatelle, and the black spaghetti with shrimp and scallions; but you can’t go wrong with any of these pasta dishes. Not recommended for those averse to pasta and carbs.

Cecilia West

The 4 course tasting menu is the way to go! Never disappoints!

R D

Amazing flavors of delicious food selections and excellent service. Eddy our server was incredible with his knowledge and service! One of the best meals I've had recently! A must experience restaurant.

Lindsay Sutton

Wow. I finally made it to BoccaLupo, and the food lived up to all the high expectations friends have set up for me. I didn't try the dishes they recommended me, I decided to go with the daily chef's tasting menu, but now I have another great reason to come back! My husband and I absolutely loved everything we ate during our evening, except for the crispy breadsticks served at the beginning. The breadsticks were just so so, but the rest was balanced, flavorful, and perfect. My husband and I both got the tasting menu, so we were served the dishes family style, assumedly with both portions on the same large plate. Before we got to course #3, my husband decided he wouldn't be full enough after our tasting menu meal, so he ordered the pappardelle, as well. He was right. With the addition of the papperdelle, we were both well satisfied as we left the restaurant. I also had a Straw-Barry White cocktail, which was like an exciting version of a strawberry limeade. The courses from our tasting menu included the following: Appetizer - crispy duck confit with cabbage over the first asparagus of the season with seared gnocchi Second course - wide fettucini with a pomodoro sauce with ginger and garlic, muscles, and two small potato spheres Third course - juvenile pork that was milk roasted with the drippings made into a sauce with a pasta I don't remember the name of and baby kale Dessert - the nicest, smoothest "pecan pie," which was more like a lovely funnel cake with candied pecans on top with caramel flavored gelato Oh my goodness, it's torture looking through my food pictures and remembering each of the dishes without having the food right in front of me. Course after course was delightful, new, and fresh. The dessert was amazing. Not too sweet, just harmony. Dang, I wish I could go back right now for that pecan pie! We sat at the edge of the porch in the last light of the day. The rest of the porch atmosphere was so so, but I think that coming with a larger group or sitting inside would be a bit nicer of an atmosphere. The food, though, is what you should come for. It was absolutely wonderful, and I can't wait to return!

Rebecca Jennings

I came in for dinner with a friend. We had an 8:30pm reservation and calmly waited for a seat at the bar. One single seat opened. I was rudely told to get up and move because it was for one person and not a couple. Even though my friend stood with enough space behind me. I will NEVER dine at such a rude establishment again in my life. I will also let everyone know about the rude service. I have dined here before but this will be my last visit. Please let your staff know that the service industry calls for kind service.

Nicole Morado

Great service, great food. Guaranteed great time.

Alexandra Wesley

BL: Is it a special occasion? Customer: Yes, we just found THE wedding dress and we want to celebrate accordingly. BL: FANTASTIC, we have a table at 9? Customer: GREAT. Is there a place we can have a drink at the bar if we arrive a little early? BL: Yes, OF COURSE! We have a full bar. Customer, arrives approximately 8:45pm looking forward to our pre dinner drink and check in at the host stand. Host(ess) response: Your table will be ready closer to your reservation time. I'M SORRY, ARE YOU REPRIMANDING ME FOR BEING EARLY? Stand at the bar, in the bar area. Make eye contact with bar tenders. No service, no response. Ask someone who seems to be carrying menus "do you need to wait in a certain line to get a drink at the bar because there is no service?" Okay, this isn't NYC, so maybe they just have no idea how to bartend.... Table ready. Let me escort you to your table, in the garage, the closest table to the garage door that is closed, and a "flap" pulled down to keep out the cold air. It's less than 40 degrees. When asking if we are celebrating, don't you think it would be who of you to mention the only table available is in the garage area of the restaurant where the breeze from outside will blow on you and your hot food throughout your entire meal? We would have passed at that. Okay, well, it's too late to go anywhere else so here we are. What to have? We will do the tasting menu. First course, "one of my customers told me this was better than sex"... that customer has a rich husband, not a well to do in bed husband. You would never want soggy, lack luster, bland mush sex, ever - no one. Service was fair, but shall I keep going on the food? I think you get the idea... There are so many better Italian restaurants in Atlanta, don't cheat your taste buds trying bucca lupo.

Nhan Tran

Stopped by for a light dinner. Came early without reservations so had to sit at the bar. Not your typical Italian dishes. Good service. Flavorful pasta dishes.

Monique Jenkins

The black spaghetti was awesome!

Connor Simmons

Absolutely amazing Italian food. Traditional dishes with modern twists and the environment is intimate without feeling stuffy.

Melody Gartrell

Eddie (the server) was great! The music selection is EXCELLENT! The food EXCELLENT x 2!

Jimmer John

Above average food but not quite in that tier 1 Italian of Atlanta in my opinion.

Leslie

Wow, where to begin... Service was amazing and so knowledgeable. We had the squid as an app that could have easy been a meal. I thought it could not have been more perfect at that point. I was completely wrong. I had read about the chicken liver ravioli with fresh field peas and had to try it. Just know I have eaten the best of the best all around Atlanta, and this meal now ranks Top 3 meals I have EVER had!!! Hands down.

Taye Ferg

I’ve eaten here before the food is great but the management has to do better. I drove a hour for an interview with them and nobody bothered to tell me they would be closed for the holidays and that they would like to reschedule the interview. Instead management decided to not say anything and made me pay $60 here and back catching Uber. I’ve never been more disrespected in my life by a potential job. I definitely would never work here because it is clear they are unorganized and inconsiderate.

Sam Maloney

We were excited to go to Bocco Lupo and were expected to wait for our table of 4. Called ahead and they said it would be an hour. Once we arrived, we went to the hostess table to put our name down. Both hostesses told us to go to the bar to put our name down for a table. Which is weird since the hostess table is where that is supposed to happen. We went to the bar to just put our name down and they said 4 people would be hard to seat at the bar even though we were just told we have to put our name down for a table AT THE BAR. No, through bar only took names for seats at the bar. So, we couldn't put our name down at all since the hostesses were unaware that was their job and the bartenders were busy doing their job, which is bartend (not take names). We left and probably will not return do the the mismanagement of how customers put their names down .

Richard White

Love this place. Great meal every time.

Karen S

Don’t come here if dining on your own. The choice they give you is bar seating or no food, despite having a HUGE amount of empty tables. Easy choice for me. My first and last time at Bocca Lupo. I will spend my hard earned money somewhere else.

karnell schultz

Magical little spot. Lots of other reviewers have talked about how great the food is, and that's all true. I just want to fill you into the pro tips. If you don't have a reservation, you can almost always get a seat at the bar. Which is not a bad seat at all. I really like the bar. The cocktails are very well done, order a few.

Gary Walderich

Impressed with everything this restaurant has to offer. First, the server was very knowledgeable of the food and the specials for the night. Second, top notch cocktails. Third, the food was fantastic! We got the 4 course meal for the evening, and no regrets. By far some of the best food in the Atlanta area.

Sepehr Vakili

We've been here a few times and while the food is rather consistently good I would not recommend this place due to the unpleasant service and modest portions. The service and staff attitude is where things fall short for me. Had to wait 50 minutes after we ordered for our meal to be served and that's after politely asking the waiter to check on it, which was not well received! It's kind of unfortunate because the food's good. Slow and rude service. Good food.

Kristopher Hong

Super delicious pastas and unique dishes. The black squid ink pasta is always great!
