Andy Schwarz

Amazing meal in a beautiful restaurant. Inventive and creative menu of fine dishes that are professionally served. This is a gem!

Sick Of Paying

Just a tremendous array of tastes. Boudin appetizer w/ Bison short ribs. Fabulous!

Michael Hall

Doesn't get much better than this place. Elegant southern dining at its finest. With a great downtown location right off Broughton street, Alligator Soul provides one of the best dining experiences in Savannah. Friendly and knowledgeable staff make you feel right at home. Beautiful dining area with exposed brick walls and local art on display. The food is amazing with fresh seafood and protein options and a few eclectic items as well. Do yourself a favor and get a reservation for this place ASAP. Highly recommend.

Bradley Ayres

This place is amazing, great food excellent staff!

Alligator soul has always been one of my favorites. But like so many other restaurants today there is just no consistency in preparation. Once, off the wall oysters j, now just so so. Not even as discribed on the menu. Disappointing visit .

Haley Godley

My husband and I celebrated our 4th anniversary here recently. The food and service is always amazing. The portions are very large compared to other fine dining restaurants. You definitely won’t leave hungry. Best Mojito’s and White Sangria’s in Savannah. We come every year on our anniversary and during restaurant week. We have never been disappointed. This time our lovely waiter was Sonny. He was very polite and enthusiastic with a great smile.

Dan Mooers

It was ok the alligator was so deep fried it had no taste but the oil it was cooked in.

Horatio Salvatori

When I arrived, I had not a clue what to expect from such cozy little dining space. That being said; When I arrived Monday, I found that there was no availability to sit at a table. Thankfully, Malena, was able to arange a spot at the bar for me where I was immediately accomadated by the best bartender, Geneen. When I say I havent had a better cocktail, I mean it... Ive had plenty. And the Oysters ala soul were nothing short of perfection. I will most certainly find myself returning to alligator soul again and again for their food, beverage, and most importantly, their impecable attention to the customer.

Kat McMillan

Amazing. Incredible staff, best mojito I've ever had. Delicious food, atmosphere was perfect. Top notch in every way

SHABAKA-RAHAMIA

Amazing food and service. I would definitely recommend this place hands down. The shrimp and grits I loved.

Walt Cuervo

First-time to Alligator Soul, and it was a wonderful experience! We had an oyster appetizer and both had the beef filet as our entree. Both were well-prepared and very tasty. We had some Prisoner red wine, which was excellent. Dessert was banana beignets (their signature dessert) and a peach cobbler al a mode. Both were incredible. Service was excellent, and the restaurant was kind enough to re-seat us when our initial table was close to a room with a very large party. We highly recommend Alligator Soul.

Nadine Naujoks

Easy to find, cool casual atmosphere, excellent service from hostess to servers to manager. Rest room was quite clean. Would have gotten 5 stars except that the scotch page on the cocktail menu had no prices and the price quoted me($12.50) was not the price I was charged ($15). The appetizer Oyster ala Soul were fabulous and made even more so by the sublime habanero sauce. The entree, Divers Scallops - scallops & truffle mousseline were divine but the fritter was bland and gummy and the sweet potato hash was mushy and also rather bland. Would not order that entree again but absolutely would add those scallops as a side to a salad.

Chandler Christian

Very nice place. The alligator fritters we're amazing

Tyler Payne

Food was awesome. The menu was a carnivores dream and they still had a vegetarian/ vegan option for those out there who do that kind of hoodoo. Drinks were very good, had the sazerac, old school drink with a good twist. Prices were high but the food quality was worth it. Great atmosphere.

Kristen Lean

Usually when we travel, we pick one night to have a fancy date night at a higher end restaurant. We couldn't have made a better decision than spending that night at alligator soul. Our waiter is one of the best we've ever had, and the food is absolutely incredible. The cocktails are also out of this world good. If you're from out of town this place can't disappoint.

Frank Mason

Absolutely the best shrimp and grits in town. Sam makes a mean Manhattan. Suggestion: get the filet mignon with a side of the shrimp and grits. Best of all worlds.

J Ray

I was looking for a nice place to take my wife and two daughters . This was our Valentine's dinner a few weeks late. Alligator Soul did not disapoint ! Just to make the review short , this place was totally excellent . We had frog leggs and oysters for appetizers. Then steak, duck, lamb, and ostrich. I had drinks. Zeb was our guy , he answered all our questions and explained everything we needed to know. It was a perfect dinner. I have recommended this place to all my friends and they have all said they had great experiences. But one thing , it is expensive . But you get what you pay for here. Go to Alligator Soul!

Ashley Sackman

What a great environment restaurant! Very good food and great service! The shrimp grits and gumbo so good!

Greg

Great place! Food was amazing. Thomas our server was all over it. Great cocktails, appetizers, entree and dessert! Good vibes.

Ann DiMartino

Best food in town! Our server was Albert and he is amazing and very kind. Even laughed at our jokes. We had the lamb and ostrich and it was very delicious. Plus the banana beignets and they was so yummy.

Shannon Coleman

If there was a way to give "0" stars and still review I would have!! The service is great! But the food was absolutely HORRIBLE!! It was during restaurant week and you would think the chef would put out their best, but instead I got the taste of soiled dirty socks!! #NEVERAGAIN

Todd Herrmann

Wonderful, original, delicious menu with truly special specials. Very attentive staff -- great for that special celebration.

Savannah Kalnen

Worth every penny...can’t go wrong with the Kangaroo dish!

Joseph Metz

Excellent restaurant for a special occasion! The food was fantastic and the service exceptional! My wife and I sat at the bar for dinner and Sam was awesome. Everything we ordered was delicious. The filet and scallops were cooked perfect. Tried the oysters and frog legs for appetizers and they were very good. If we come back to Savannah we will be back.

Vlad Z

Fine dining with a modern twist. Beautiful interior and creative menu. Everything we got was delicious (though a bit pricey as to be expected from such a place). Portions were on the smaller side but everything hit the spot. All seafood was perfect and the alligator sausage is a must try. Worth a visit for sure. If you're on a budget load up on the inedible appetizers and skip the main course.

Steve Grigg

The only thing better than the food was the service. We'll definitely be back. A must visit.

Corinne Keeton

Literally mind blowing. Just go. Cozy, romantic, classic. The wait staff will impress you. They can navigate the menu and the chefs are superb. Food will make you want to call your mom. Im telling you... it's fabulous

Jennifer Martinez

Holy moly was this restaurant good! I grew up and currently live in renowned food cities and this restaurant was amazing. I had the candied bacon, carving board, shrimp and grits, and steak. All were magnificent!

Bethany Darling

Amazing food! Wonderful service!

Evan Dickerson

Ordered the Oysters de la soul to start, they were good but not amazing. Then had the mushroom salad, very good and would get again. For entree, filet with kale which was tasty but steak was a tad overdone but I still ate most of it...

Dominic Riccione

This underground eatery is one of the best restaurants in Savannah! I was impressed with both the service as well as the food...every dish was prepared exquisitely! Would definitely return for those alligator frittatas and shrimp & grits.

matthew williams

The hilbo ribeye was great. Our server and staff were excellent. The atmosphere was very nice. Not overcrowded and small and personal.

Jackie Jackson

The Alligator Soul is located in the downtown area of Savannah. The restaurant is on the bottom level, so it might be a little hard to notice right away. This is a very nice experience. The candle light dinner setting was a nice touch. The servers were very attentive to what was needed at your tables. The food came out spaced out just right with little wait in between each serving. The food was very tasty. I fully enjoyed the Gumbo Back Baby. The desert was very nice as well. The food is quite expensive but well worth it. Give this place a try.

Brent Husband

Great food, great service, very nice people

Rog M

The food and atmosphere were excellent. Our waiter, top notch as well. Just one complaint. The restaurant is quite pretentious with how they prepare their meals. I really wanted to try the elk special, but they refused to cook past medium rare. Even after discussions admitting I know elk and lean meats can get tough when "overcooked" they refused. So I settled for another item, which was delicious for sure. Even the rib eye on the menu states they will not cook past medium to preserve the quality of the meat. Get off your high horse, let your customer decide how they would like their meal they are paying $$$ for prepared

Jim Marrelli

Very nice joint! Service was stellar. Food was as great as expected! Great place to check out Savannah!

Alex Snodgrass

Usually when we travel, we pick one night to have a fancy date night at a higher end restaurant. We couldn't have made a better decision than spending that night at alligator soul. Our waiter is one of the best we've ever had, and the food is absolutely incredible. The cocktails are also out of this world good. If you're from out of town this place can't disappoint.

Jordan Holmes

Good: waiter was extremely nice, atmosphere was interesting, their homemade focaccia was to die for Bad: my friends lamb was extremely rare (and we were expecting it to be quite rare) to the point they were uncomfortable eating it, scallop dish was unbearably sweet for a dinner dish, and we witnessed some poor girl be reprimanded at our table for not pouring water “correctly”

Patti Martin

Yes we spent a lot of money at this restaurant but it was an amazing meal. Our server was excellent and the food was superb. The starter crab cakes were second to none. Sooo good. We had the scallops and the lamb chops entrees and both were excellent. If you want to treat yourself to an upscale dining experience this is the place to go in Savannah!

Jared Cotta

Fantastic place to spend a romantic evening. The nearly hidden entrance and the general ambiance made for a perfect date night on a visit to Savannah. We shared a collection of apps and one entree and that was a ton of food. It was all delicious. The wine offered was very good. I felt that the wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The overall experience was really wonderful.

Amanda Sickels

One of the top 3 meals of my life. Amazing. Not to pricey. Restaurant had an awesome atmosphere.

Jennifer Wescott

We have gone to Alligator Soul three times and each time the food is a journey of flavors. Our server this past time, Phillip, was the best we’ve ever had. He was very courteous and knowledgeable of the menu. We got the filet and the red deer; both were delicious and paired expertly with wines and accompaniments. The portions are perfect, not enough to get overly full but you leave feeling completely sated!

Ann Charlene

What a treat. For our final night in Savannah and the last night of a long road trip, we wanted something a little special. This was a lot special!! Great atmosphere and wonderful food. I loved the alligator fritters and the Little Hilbo Steak was not little - it was big and delicious. Great wine list as well. We will be back!

Cindy Pope

Too pricey, in my opinion, but my brother paid so not complaining! The waitress was great but still the order did get all mixed up and it was a comedy of errors and a long wait. These things happen but not too cool when you are paying top dollar. I think they should have thrown in free dessert or special drinks or something. But, they finally did get it straight and one person ended up accidentally getting a better cut of meat at a lower price from what was ordered, thanks to the manager. So we made it to our Haunted Savannah Tour on time! Yay! Overall, I will say the food, staff and atmosphere confirms you are in an upscale dining establishment. Nice!

Michele Legrande

Great food and service. Our server Ryan was very knowledgable and fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed this place.

Devan Doherty at Right Relief Health

The food was great and the drink was delicious but honestly my mom, sister and I were extremely put off by the entire “so do you have a reservation” - insert side glares by staff - when the place wasn’t even half way full. Don’t get me wrong, all of the entrees were great but just because you charge a lot doesn’t mean you should act as if you don’t need the customers.

Simon Glazier

One of the best dinners I've had. Would put a lot of top Sydney and Melbourne restaurants behind it. Great mix of fresh and local produce with some surprises. Flavors were next level. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Felt a little under dressed in shorts but wasn't the only one.

Giuli Sandonato

Food is overpriced for unoriginal dishes. Drinks are overpriced as well. I ordered a drink with lavender that didn't even have a hint of lavender. Our waiter only suggested the most expensive plates on the menu to get a bigger tip. Not worth it.

Chiffer Robe

A must do for a visit to Savannah....food and service are top notch. While menu is limited you will leave ompressed. Great whiskey selection..... 2 thumbs up. Better get a reservation now

A Landers

We had our anniversary dinner here and could Not have had a better experience! Our food was amazing and our server Morgan made our dinner even better.

Scott Papanek

I'd give this place 10 stars if I could the best food in the world

Yady Avila

Excellent service, delicious food, loved the atmosphere! Treated wonderfully. Will definitely be back next time we're in Savannah.

Bailey M

Maybe my husband and I came on a bad night, but we were not overly impressed with Alligator Soul. We had heard so much about it, so we were very eager to try it! The service was great, but the food was a little lacking in my own opinion. We will try to stop in and give it another try in the future, as so many people rave about how great it is!

esther stevens

Moderately priced restaurant where the daily catch and adventure game choices are a must. The watermelon salad and scallops are good too. My ostrich was slightly over cooked so get it “rare” if offered again. This is not a place to bring small children, unless they have a good/advanced palate and are well behaved.

Joshua Shumaker

Fish of the day was excellent (speckled trout - generous portion). Served fresh out-of-the-oven bread and a squash bisque as well. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Will visit again!

John Jordan

Delicious food, excellent service. Alligator Soul may be our new favorite Savannah restaurant...

Isaias Saez

Excellent food and service!!! We will definitely be back soon!!!

Carmen McBride

The most amazing meal/wine experience we've had in awhile... so glad we "didn't walk out" as our first impression almost led us to do so. The young hostess seated us, and asked my husband to "remove his hat".... (which, he gladly did.....) although knowing he's not comfortable without it, especially not preparing to be without it, I persuaded him to put it back on. (He did). After observing the restaurant (pictures to support)... we had the "cowboy" at the bar with his large brim hat on, the fella in the next dining corridor with his ballcap on, and the lil 'ole man in the far dining room with his beret on. My thought is, if you're going to be so bold to ask one man to remove his hat, then you need to ask the entire house! I understand it is a southern city and 'gentlemen' have certain expectations.... but it came across "judgy and condemnatory" ...You don't know people's reasons for wearing particular items (they could have a scar, fighting cancer, etc) ...It made me angry, she was rude and unthoughtful of the entire situation. Almost ruined our first anniversary dinner evening. I've searched the web, the front entrance way, even our reservation confirmation and nothing states they prefer hats not to be worn.... thank goodness for Philip, our waiter, he was such a pleasure and professional. Because of him, not her ...we will be back....

Tonya Hayes

Awe inspiring Service and food.

Kindra McComb

Service was top notch. Oysters were great. Had the mussels and they were probably the best I've ever had and the ostrich special was amazing.

Steve Keller

Alligator Soul is great. The menu is limited.......to fantastic fare only. This is not to be missed while visiting downtown.

Yasmin Alzayer

its the place where to see different food you might never had before .

Bridget Douglas

The food was super appetizing. Really nothing but good experiences here.

Brendan McIntyre

Food, atmosphere, and service were all top notch. The Back Baby Gumbo was flavorful and had plenty of seafood. The banana beignets were a delicious way to end a great meal. Absolutely a must do for our next trip to Savannah.

Steve James

Let the farm-to-table bona fides draw you in, bask in the creativity, but don't overlook what this amazing restaurant does well; they balance flavors expertly. In every one of the several dishes we've had, the thoughtfulness of the opposition and complementarity of flavours was outstanding.

Pierre Jackson Sr.

Enjoyed this restaurant. Everything was great, food service, everything

Dave Belluz

Great atmosphere. Great service! I had the alligator and it was fantastic. Great wine list.

Justin Hickman

Love the atmosphere here!

Ron and Phyllis Ronnenberg

Romantic setting with great food, impeccable service.

Gregory Funk

Food was amazing, service was great. We never felt rushed and our group truly enjoyed their meals. Give them your time and they will take care of you.

Patricia Gibson

Beautiful venue with exceptional service and delicious food. The filet was tender and delightful. My husband had the red fish and said it was some of the best fish he's ever had! Can't beat that!

Tammie Allen

Everything was amazing from the hostess, waiter and the food. My husband and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary!

Dev Dav

This place was amazing...NOT CHEAP at all but Quality to the stars. The cocktail were delicately executed and delicious. The food is NYC 5 star celebrity chef status. Not to knock Husk at all (which we also liked) but it wasnt even close. $500 later and we were all well satisfied. Cant wait to make it back!

Jermaine Ballenger

Heard they had great food and wanted to try, but got turned off from being turned away for having a party of 5. They only accommodate parties of 4 for walk ins. Obviously tourists and out of towners need to make reservations to feel welcomed.

Diana Knight

Wonderful meal. Best of Savannah for sure. I had the filet. I never order steak because I always feel like I can do just as well at home, but the sauce and the bacon wrap sounded really good and I’d already had a lot of seafood so I gave it a try. It was the best steak I’ve ever had. They are definitely getting good cuts of meat and truly free range stuff tastes way better. Also the sauce was innovative and subtly sweet. I basically never get desert but we tried the fried bananas and it was amazing also. The ambiance was cool and different/funky. The server was classy and informative and nice. So were the hostesses. We arrived 10 minutes late because a torrential downpour happened and we decided we had to get a cab and they were nice about it and took our umbrellas. Wonderful experience. Must visit for any Savannah trip.

Turquoise Tulsa

Fun place located just off Telfair square down a staircase! Brick walls, lovely menu and staff.

Tim Fortier

Let me start by saying I am not one who would normally write a review. My wife and I went here last night for a special occasion. We were excited because we had heard this was one the best restaurants in Savannah. Everything was great until we asked about the level of spice in the meals. We were told everything was spicy so asked if there was a way to cut down on the spice. This was when everything changed a lot. Our waiter acted like this was a problem and did not give us the same attention as other guest. The food was good but for an expense place to be like this is ridiculous. Needless to say to due to the service not food we will not come back any time soon.

Julie Mauritzen

Nice ambiance and knowledgeable staff. We were disappointed that they did not have kangaroo. David was a very friendly and attentive waiter!

Caitlin Du Bois

Incredible. We picked Alligator Soul for our one big dinner out in Savannah during our stay and thrilled we did! The food was amazing, the staff was extremely attentive and professional, and the atmosphere very relaxing while still feeling formal.

Carolyn Damiano

My husband and I just got back from a vacation in Savannah, and this was our best dinner we had in the city. From the alligator fritter appetizer, to the gumbo and shrimp/grits, to the wine list - everything was exceptional, including service. The atmosphere is unique and inviting. My only complaint is that it was extremely loud through the majority of our dinner, which was a bit surprising and annoying for a nice date night.

Michael Zerafa

Our server was an absolute professional. The meal was memorable. There's no shortage of great food in Savannah, but this was the best meal we've had there. Will definitely dine here next time we visit. My wife and I also each had a good cocktail at the bar.

Jeff Riggs

Great service, interesting menu.

Gary Beverly

Great service and food. The atmosphere is unbeatable. Definitely have the Aligator fritters and desserts.

Rhamy Alejeal

Service was excellent, and the food was very good. 50 bucks a head for dinner / dessert, but good food. Nice place if you want to make a good impression.

Michael Goulding

Alligator Soul came highly recommended by friends. I thought the food was very good. I highly recommend the Oysters. If you like Oysters Rockefeller they are a must try, to start. The habanero sauce is quite unique and is not as hot as you'd expect. The steak I had as a main course was good, but not great and certainly not special. For dessert I gave the cobbler a try and was not let down. So, my appetizer and dessert were excellent and my main course was good, but not great. If I could have given 4.5 stars I would have, but that's not an option. I would certainly come again the next time I'm in town.

Pete Hicks

Food was unbelievable. Best meal of our vacation.

Jodi Zipperer

Best fried green tomatoes. Amazing cuisine upon every visit.

Nekole Lozano

I visited Alligator Soul last Summer, and it was so exquisite. I would highly recommend the Oysters a la Soul. They are blended with bacon, Louisiana crawfish, and scallions in a creamy somewhat spicy sauce. We ordered the Alligator Fritters too as an Appetizer, and they were just okay. I ordered the Gumbo's Back Baby which has Georgia Shrimp in it as my entree and it was full of flavor. The atmosphere was really cool, with a cozy waiting area on plush sofa's. The bartenders can serve people at the sofas while waiting on the table. It has a nice bluesy playlist for music. Very nice ambiance. I would definitely go back.

Matt Kerestes

Loved this place! The ostrich tasted as good as a great steak. The alligator fritters were amazing. The service was even better. Our waiter Sonny was friendly attentive and very helpful. Have definitely found a favorite in Savannah

Sam Elliott

The best place to dine in a city filled with great places to dine. Attentive, knowledgeable staff. Amazing fare. Surprisingly modest pricing. (In Chicago it would cost at least three times what we paid). Tables are not close together. (Big plus).

Laura Peacock

Service was excellent, food was superb!

Bill Cook

Nice place, the dessert and service was awesome.

Dionne Ricks

The manager and bar staff Melina and Geneen were the most excellent staff I've ever encountered. I have food allergies and they both took their time to ask me, notate it on all tickets. And when a mistake was made. They both made sure I was ok. They checked on me and took care of me. I'll definitely be coming back here. The ambiance, the food, the drinks were excellent. 5 stars in book. What set it off to excellent was the bar staff. Thank you guys for everything you did.

Marianne Krezeczowski

Romantic atmosphere, very nice servers and waiters, and great food! Elk was also spectacular except my husband cut was a little thicker and was more rare than he would like. Alligator fritters were really good! Homemade bread and chive butter was fabulous!! Highly recommended!

Ashley Pinckney

Food is great but the service is soooooo slow. 3 hours and 10 minutes. Server just disappeared for very long periods of time.

Michelle E

Sat at the bar- great service, good food. Enjoyed the wine selection.

Robert Grabel

What a treat. For our final night in Savannah and the last night of a long road trip, we wanted something a little special. This was a lot special!! Great atmosphere and wonderful food. I loved the alligator fritters and the Little Hilbo Steak was not little - it was big and delicious. Great wine list as well. We will be back!

Danny Anderson

This place was the perfect another to escape the hear and hustle of Savannah. Food was terrific. The fritters are a must.

Lauren Duenas

Incredibly mediocre food for the price. I have enjoyed fine dining from Colorado to Finland, and this is was one of the most disappointing restaurants thus far. The fried green tomatoes were tough and the collards were downright offensive, as though they were cooked briefly in ocean water. I ordered the red snapper "special" for my entree. The fish was standard fare, with flavorless rice and greasy green beans as a side. My boyfriend ordered the elk special, which was the one standout item of the night. For dessert, I ordered the lemon parfait, which I took one bite of and had no interest in finishing. In general, the plating/presentation of food could use work. I will say the hostesses and our server was outstanding.

jeanne kortis

The food was delicious. Our waiter was very patient as we had a 2 year old with us.

CRUX

Great ambience.. friendly quick service.. alligator boudin was phenomenal..Hilbo ribeye was a good size but quality subpar for the price. I expect melt in your mouth buttery meat. Ordered a medium.. should have some red..This was on the dry side. Not prime.

Casey Fuhrmann

Amazing, dare to try something out of your comfort zone! The Ostrich is phenomenal!

Diane Martinez

So we decided to try this restaurant for restaurant week. Service was great , food was great, the hospitality is great. The server asked if i was allergic to anything and I told him seafood. Well after dinner we went home, i uncontrollably started vomitting all night and morning. The only reason i would vomit that much is if there was any type of cross contamination because my stomach is that sensitive to seafood. So if you are allergic to seafood its probably just best to be extra careful with your choices.

Teshia Bangs

The oysters were delicious..i would recommend this place great romantic atmosphere.

Lisa Pontious

Special dinner with my daughter. Did not disappoint! Great sommelier service, food was amazing. Can't wait to go back!

Doug Thomas

Oysters were awesome. Ribeye steak was good, but had too much fat for the price. Service was outstanding!

Sancho Escondido

Drove down from Chicago to have a nice romantic evening in with the misses. Ryan G and staff were on point, compliments to the chef! Making babies tonight!

Sam C

I have a sweet tooth, so when looking for a place for dinner I typically review the dessert menu first. I love bread pudding so I figured I'd give Alligator Soul a try. The dinner was great. I had Gumbo which was excellent, and the bread pudding was amongst the best I've had. I highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely eat there again the next time I'm in Savannah.

Melissa Edwards

This place is incredible. Very high end to include all things from atmosphere to everything that comes to the table. The chef is outstanding and well worth the prices. We enjoyed a flight of wines and that is definitely the way to go because they have so many options to choose from it can be hard to choose just one. They even offer exotic choices that change regularly. Exotic might be kangaroo, ostrich, red deer, or birds. The special for seafood when we went was Mako shark steaks. This place stands alone in Savannah. Everything was perfect.

Elizabeth DiPaolo

Sadly disappointed. Waiter was great when we started with drinks, then, attitude switched after i chose not to have a $25.00 glass of wine. Did not get all of my meal and waiter never checked back on us after meal was served. Waiter definitely copped an attitude with us it seemed as we weren’t spending enough money. When one of our party went to find a manager to complain that we didn’t get everything and no one ever checked back on us after food was delivered, waiter was very offended and almost confrontational. Manager came by and apologized and offered our party of 6 two free deserts if we were interested. We opted out of desert and asked for the bill. That took another lengthy period of time and server delivered our checks which we had asked to be split (probably another strike against us,) Then brought the 3 checks with one pen as the final dig. Manager never offered to take care of a drink or any kind of a discount. He said he felt bad that we would be leaving unsatisfied, but did nothing to fix the situation. Steaks were really good, but mussels were tiny. Have eaten way better food at a much more reasonable price. But server truly had a very nasty attitude towards us that really ruined the evening.

Matthew Taylor

Ryan our server was top notch. We hit it off with him right off the bat. His recommendations were spot on. The food itself was unique and full of flavor. From the alligator fritters to the Red Stag deer from New Zealand.

Annalee Tobey

Great restaurant for a romantic dinner! We both enjoyed our meal very much. Waitstaff was very kind and helpful. Dim lighting was welcomed after an afternoon of touring. Great to relax and find some quiet - but not too quiet! Food was incredible - and yes - we tried alligator!

Cara Snyder

Wonderful staff, lovely decor, refreshing cocktail. Oysters were tasty, gumbo delish, shrimp and grits were good but were missing something.

Lorie Morris

Yessenia Johnson

Beautiful restaurant, great service, great dishes. It's a basement restaurant.

Carrie M Gordon

Excellent southern cuisine, wine and coffee in an ecclectic environment. Love the small plates and the focaccia bread too. Attentive service is the crowning touch

andrew stewart

Ate at Alligator Soul with my father on a Friday night. Service was great and the owner introduced herself and chatted briefly. Everything we ordered from appetizers to entrees to dessert was amazing. Cool downstairs location. Do yourself a favor and stop in if your in the neighborhood.

Emily Collins

Its expensive but sooooo worth it. The portions are large for the price and the food is cooked beautifully definitely try the exotic meal if you can. How often can you eat ostrich, elk, kangaroo and antelope?

Deborah Newlin

We had a lovely evening! The menu is nicely varied to include "exotic" meats and game fowl, the food is exceptional, and the presentation is very nice. The atmosphere is intimate, and the wait staff are well trained and discreet. Be advised, it is a bit pricey.

Airin Giltner

Yum! Does not disappoint. Try the crab cakes, grit crutons... Delicious! Reverent service at the bar

Michael Vaughan

Amazing! Business Casual attire. Seafood oriented with a formal flair! Everything was cooked to perfection. The venison was so good I only wish I could have ordered the entire Deer.

ryan fuller

Wish they had kangaroo when I was there, none the less the steak was great. The dessert was to die for

Joe Rhinelander

What an all around incredible experience. The ambiance is perfect, it's comfortable and feels private. You never feel rushed, and the food is absolutely amazing, I highly recommend the lamb, it's to die for. Our server Yusef was extremely professional, helpful, and knowledgeable, he definitely made the whole experience great. If any owners or managers read this, please pass along my gratitude to him. Thank you, I will be back.

The food is very good, plenty of options, particularly on the seafood side. Fun rotating specials, I assume based on local availability. The wine list is extensive and they have some creative cocktails and local beers on tap. Our service was just ok, we had to send one entree back because it was not warm, and there is only one alligator item on the menu.

Great food and service.

I would say the dining experience was very nice. A nice waiting lounge. Could use some soothing jazz or piano music... The rack of lamb was great! The exotic meal, this time was New Zealand red dear, which was good. The presentation was lacking overall. I would try a different dessert, the peach cobbler with goat cheese in the puff pastry was meh. Would I go again? Well, there are a lot of restaurants to try in Savannah, so probably not for a while. Would I recommend it? You bet. Try the rack of lamb and go with a different dessert.

The food was delicious, well beyond my expectation. The Carving Board appetizer was everything that it said it would be. Combining the different flavors was just amazing. One thing complimented another in each bite that I took. I had the elk which was cooked to perfection. Although it was brought out after my wife's entree, about 10 minutes later, it was delicious. I ordered the scallops to complement the main dish, and although they forgot to bring those out, combining the two flavors was well worth the wait. I had to Moscow Mules with my dinner and I could tell it was made by two different bartenders. The first one tasted like it had no ginger beer, but I could definitely taste the homemade ginger beer in the second one. The menu was a bit pricey that was not reflected in the type of service, but the taste of the flavors is why I give this place three stars.

This was one of the most amazing meals we've had....EVER!! From beginning to end Sweet & Savory was definitely the theme. Our drinks from the bar were delicious. We ordered the carving platter for an appetizer...oh my. The bone marrow was delicious, the honey comb....wow pure gold, the stuffed olive...yum, the cheeses another yum, and the pork belly melted in your mouth. For dinner, I had the Diver Scallops...best ever. All the flavors from sweet to bitter...amazing. My husband had the Red Deer....it melted in your mouth. Dessert was just as fabulous!! Catherine was our server and she was the best. She was very knowledgeable of all the dishes. Gave us great advice and described each dish perfectly. We look forward to visiting again!! Thank you!!

I went to Alligator Soul as part of a bachelorette weekend in Savannah. The restaurant was beautiful and the service was amazing. The food selections were very unique (ostrich anyone?). I’m knocking it down one star because I felt the restaurant was a little overpriced. However, my lamb entree and charcuterie board appetizer were delicious.

The food and the atmosphere was great.

We went here on the recommendation of a friend and had a wonderful experience. Our bar tender, Crush, took great care of us! He made wonderful recommendations for drinks and dinner selections. He was attentive and kept us entertained all evening. We tried the banana pepper rings, avocado fries, and tuna flat bread. Also threw in a few shots ;). Wonderful atmosphere, great food, amazing service. Thank you!

I stumbled on this place and wish I took pictures!!! It was soooo great. The food. The atmosphere. This is a must. The food was delicious. We had the oysters, crawfish Mac, gumbo, and the ribeye. It was all great. The ribeye and the oysters were definitely at the top of the list! They take a new look at a traditional old fashioned by using apricot liqueur instead of cherries and it was a pleasant departure. Don’t be fooled when arriving here... it is a basement restaurant that you have to walk down stairs from the Main Street and it seems a little off but when you enter it is a beautifully done space.

Sexy ambience...or scary mafia hit local. Either way it was neat.

Good food, but more expensive than similar caliber restaurants in Savannah.

Big group dinner in the semi private room. Myself and my colleague both asked for our fillet's medium-rare; mine was well done and dry, his was basically raw. Servers, sides and wine were excellent though and the majority of our party had no complaints.

Taylor Griffith

Amazing food! I'd recommend the alligator fritters, frog legs, and the 16oz ribeye, be cautious this place is a bit pricey but it soooooo worth it

Garry Mccollum

This restaurant was a trip highlight! From the atmosphere to the food to the service it was all phenomenal. Our waiter Philip was personable and attentive. He had wonderful recommendations. Our dinning experience was exceptional. This is a must visit on your trip to Savannah!

Cathy Augustyniewicz

Food was excellent. The atmosphere was great. And our waitress was great. We will definitely go again. A little on the pricey side, but well worth it.

Don't go on monday night. While the cheesy croutons in the salad we're excellent and the mussels good, the main dish the ribeye was gristley, the broccoli rabe stringy, and the fries stone cold. Shame on us for not immediately sending it back. To add insult to injury there was a $10 split plate charge. The manager offered us a complimentary dessert of their famous beignets which was covered in cold noodles without the customary powdered sugar or cinimon. Kind of bland. Service was inatentative and perfunctuary at best. Not a professional waitor. Would never go back. A uniquely bad experience.

Great food! Our waiter Yousef was great! Make sure you request him (if he's available). Really nice atmosphere. Overall great experience
