I want for lunch the line was pretty long I was worried it was going to be worth it. Boy was I wrong it was definitely worth the wait. The barbecue here is some of the best I've had in South Florida. If you like barbecue I definitely recommend trying these guys out.

I have been coming here for years. Today was the worst experience. The service by the man at the register was no good. How could you not know what's in the food you serve. The food was definitely not up to par. Chicken was not fully cooked it tastes like lighter fluid. I was very very disappointed. This is not the last time. However, I hope not to experience this again.

Best bbq in the area but come early on Saturday's as they sometimes run out of food. They are closed Sundays and Mondays. We were there at 4:30 on Saturday and they were out of all dark meat chicken and all brisket. We got the baby back ribs and there amazing.

Tom Jenkins is the best BBQ in South Florida! This place is a landmark. Be aware those, They're closed in Sundays for church and closed on Mondays for fishing.... LOL! Always very busy around lunch and dinner but the wait is worth it!

Friendly atmosphere, everyone just finds a place to sit and chat. The food is so delicious. We had brisket, pork spare ribs and chicken. The collard greens were just as good as the meats. Perfect family dinner. Only difficulty is parking, but we got a spot within 10 minutes.

This place has very great food and they have rarely let us down in that department... so I HATE to give them only 3 stars but being a local, one of my BIGGEST frustrations is how it is nearly impossible for someone to answer their phone during business hours for us to place an order for pickup. This hasn’t just been a one time thing...it literally happens every. single. time. IF we are lucky enough to get someone to answer it’s usually after calling multiple times (literally 4-5 times where the phone rings and rings and rings until the answering machine picks up)...other times we have no such luck and decide to go elsewhere because of this frustration. The place is usually very packed evenings so I understand they are swamped...but since we live so close it is soooo much more convenient for us to call the order in to pick it up versus standing in line for 10-15 minutes just to order, on top of having to wait for the food. My biggest suggestion...hire more help and please ANSWER THE PHONES! (Or consider one of the many online apps where orders could be placed online). The food is obviously amazing but the service needs a serious re-vamp.

I've had good BBQ before, but this was on another level! We tried the turkey, the brisket, and the spare ribs. The turkey was simply the best smoked turkey I've ever had. Moist, just the right amount of smoke, delicious with and without the sauce. The ribs were meaty with a great bark, and the brisket was moist and once again, just the right amount of smoke (my serving must have been from the fatty part of the brisket, which is not my favorite, but still high quality). The BBQ sauce served on the side was nice and balanced, and didn't overpower the meat. But oh, the side dishes - don't miss the sides! Most places the sides are an afterthought, but not at Tom Jenkins. The baked beans had a touch of vinegar and I think jalapeno (more flavor than heat) - again balanced and nuanced. The slaw was a creamy style with nice onion notes. The cornbread muffins were not overly sweet, and had a wonderful texture. This place may look a little rustic, but make no mistake, there are masterful hands in the kitchen.

The food here is excellent! The staff are welcoming and helpful albeit the dining area can be small and expect a long line running straight through it. If that doesnt speak for itself I dont know what will. If you want Spare ribs, turkey or brisket come early cause those go early. The two meat combo covers me there and a snack later. Wow this is by far the best bbq joint in south Florida. It does get busy so call ahead is probably better. I had the short ribs witch was to die for , the beans are A+, the Mac and cheese is good lacks some flavor has to add salt to it. If you’re around come by you won’t regret it.

Upon Entering the establishment it was clean and presentable. I ordered the two meat combination with brisket and ribs. I also had the collards greens and baked beans. The ribs didn’t have a deep smoked taste as I seen the oak wood would have gave it out back. Never the less they were good. The brisket I’m not sure what was going on it had a sour/bitter taste to me not sure why maybe I was tasting the Roslyn off the wood. I was highly recommended to stop by. Hands down the BEST BBQ in Broward County. I mean, death row, last meal, good. Seriously! I highly recommend the ribs - spare ribs are delicious, baby backs are out of this world: perfect smokey char on the tips, meat falls off the bone, fat layer so thin it disintegrates. Dang. I don't think there are words sexy enough to describe them. Get the collard greens. You won't regret it. I've never liked them, despite trying many variations. But Tom Jenkins? Nailed it. Mac and cheese is sinfully good. Baked beans are bold and uniquely flavored. BBQ sauce has a bit of a kick to it which I love... but honestly, the food has such great smokey goodness that I find it tragic to even alter it. Oh, and if you crave a good old fashioned southern sweet tea... spot on.

Authentic BBQ! We tried the babyback and spare ribs, brisket, chicken and chopped pork. It was all delicious! It was perfectly smoked, tender and fresh. BBQ sauce comes on the side and was tasty. Most dishes come with cornbread muffins and a side dish or two--we got the baked beans which were homemade. The sweet potato pie was yummy as well. Will eat here again. The lady who took our order was really friendly.

Lunch stop today was at the best barbecue I've ever found in Florida. When people ask me about BBQ in this state, my nicest response is usually "It's good bbq...for Florida." This place could hold it's own in the Meccas of barbecue in this country, like Memphis and Kansas City. They are often busy, so time can be an issue. You should plan accordingly. Every interaction I've ever had with one of their staff has always been positive.

I honestly don’t get what all the hype is about this place, portion sides are poor considering the prices, and they only had two items off the menu to serve (meat wise) same with the sides. Place is dingy, and in need of an upgrade. I decided to just carry out, unless you like sitting with people you don’t know? I won’t be returning and won’t be recommending it either. Also, be prepared for the employee to ask for a tip in cash and not on the credit card! So tacky

Very good food! The turkey wasn't that moist, but if you put the barbeque sauce on it you wouldn't notice and be amazing. The brisket was amazing. The cornbread was very good but a tiny bit overdone. I'm one who doesn't like brown corners on my cornbread, but it's such a small thing. It was well worth the taste! Very good! Will be back! :)

Love this little restaurant from its history on the walls and the smokehouse in the back of the lot. Very tasty, love the Turkey especially. Potato salad and BBQ sauce is delicious. We enjoy it as takeout. If you are not from the area like us, it's easy to drive past as it's hard to see. But its worth checking out. Service is efficient. Staff could look like they are having more fun though.

I was recommended this place by a colleague and was excited to have some authentic BBQ. Unfortunately due to my experience I have to give this place a 1 star, I would give it less if possible. Myself and two colleagues went here for lunch right before the lunch rush. As we were in line the rush came in, and we each placed our orders. They recieved their food (we all ordered the same meal), then I noticed EVERYONE else that came in behind us for the lunch rush recieved their food, I realized clearly something was wrong. I went to the counter to inquire about my order, to my surprise my order was NEVER put in. They then tried to play it off like nothing on their end was a mistake, they never put a ticket in for my food or even seemed me for my name. Worst part about this, I even put in a tip... There was nothing done to rectify the situation,sadly I will not return and recommend people I know not to go.

This place has gotten to be very lousy. I travel all the way from Homestead Florida just to come eat there with my family and I also have recommended so many people from homestead and key West area to come eat there. They used to give you enough food for your money and you can go there anytime of the day to get ribs for the last couple of months almost a year this place has got to be very slack with there food and service. The last 3 times I have went there before 3 p.m and I was told they have ran out of ribs. This is a barbeque establishment you should never run out of ribs. I have even ask have they change management. And I went there again today 4/12/19 around 2 p.m and guess what I was told we have ran out of ribs. I hope the owner of this establishment is reading these reviews. Tom Jenkins bbq need do better

From the looks of things the place has awesome bbq for florida. However my family was made to feel very unwelcome. I was waiting in line to order. My wife was sitting at a picnic table in what appeared to be a very casual setting. Very few people were eating in the restaurant most were waiting in line to order. It was a bajillion degrees I guess they want their customers to experience the kitchen with them. That's different. Anyway my 2 year old son was standing on the bench with his elbows on the table since he is little next to his mom when one of the workers told us in broken English he didnt need to be standing on the table (which he wasnt doing). We had been there for about 10 mins and this was the first interaction we had with any staff. Two young ladies were standing there when my wife and I discussed spending money here and didnt seem to care. I guess it's a good thing they have good bbq for florida cause their customer service SUCKS. I guess I will stick with getting my bbq in South Carolina.

Also divide and conquer so that you can get a table to eat at the place, if not you might have to wait for some space to eat or take it to go. Either way its a great place to get some BBQ. Their bbq is out of this world! A lady walking by was raving about the food here. I politely stopped her, after hearing what she said, and asked where she had eaten. After talking to her, we immediately went for lunch. Staff was friendly and polite and the brisket, macaroni and cheese and collard greens were perfect. Excellent barbecue, a tad pricey but high quality meats, efficient service, friendly atmosphere when not busy. Would recommend for family outing or pickup catering.

One of the best places to go if you want to have some authentic barbecue. Just be prepared to wait because the food is amazing and it's always packed. They have a great staff very nice people. Got to try the pulled pork sandwich it's my favorite. The barbecue sauce is amazing.

#Recommended. #Affordable. #Good for families. The aroma from the the giant smokers in the back and piles of wood greet you from the parking lot of the low slung building on the highway. Counter service and no frills dining at communal tables (with a few two tops outside) with solid BBQ wait inside. Tom Jenkin’s is listed among the best BBQ in South Florida. We enjoyed the food with generous portions, excellent sides and homemade BBQ sauce. The whole chicken was excellent while the brisket was a bit dry. Will definitely come back next time we find ourselves in Fort Lauderdale.

Always has been and still is the best BBQ down here by by far, and of all the BBQ I have eaten across the country , TJ is only rivaled by Rendevous in Memphis and Arthur Bryant's in Kansas City. TJ has the leg up . Best side dishes anywhere. Period. You have to eat here if you love ribs.

My goto bbq when in ft Lauderdale . Quality food . Order in advance if possible even if you're eating in. Always slammed . If you want dinner order it at lunch to ensure its available . They sometimes run out of certain things and the food reheats awesome.
