Fantastic food. This was some of the most creative sushi that I have ever had before. And the service was excellent, it really made me feel both important and well taken care of. So this place has great food and great deserts. BUT the staff is a little weird. I been here a few times and I thought maybe it was me but after the next couple of times I confirmed it. The staff is strange. Its like they don't hear you right or they don't speak English. They even act weird maybe it's me but I wasn't the only one in my group who thought that. I would of given it 5 stars but the staff thing throws me off. You get more hand signals than answers.....weird

Food is ok, staff I would say need more training and pay attention to the customers more. Me and my bf went there after wanting to go there for so long, so was really excited. We asked about recommendation for what to order, and I got suggested “Romeo and Juliet” and told the guy I wanted to order that. And my bf ordered Sushi pizza. Little later before we got our food we decided to order MORE. My bf got the meal and I was still waiting, getting frustrated because I wanted to eat as well. We asked a server which told me it’s probably coming and not ready yet. And waited a little longer. ( by the way it’s really hard to get I contact with them as off the give you a blind eye as they pass you) I finally got I contact with the guy we originally ordered from which told me the same thing “ it’s coming” and tried to walk away. I explained to him that I ordered it at the same time as my bf and ITS STILL NOT HERE. And he asked who we ordered that with and I told him that was him. And he got confused and close to started to argue about that I did not order it with him! (He is the only person we gave our orders to the whole night) I canceled, as of I didn’t want to wait any longer. Rest of the order that I got which literally was 4peices of sushi total was ok, not something I would be excited to come back to and probably not going back to other than dessert.

I was very excited to eat sushi, but this is not a real sushi place, this is a fusion of Venezuelan food, the restaurant is nice, good music they also have a DJ, presentation was good, but poor service, servers don’t have any experience on customer service, they take forever,you have to ask for water, and utensils because they don’t give it to you, if you like plantains and arepas then this is the place, but not for sushi, they use my daughter order a sushi pizza that was just green plantains with avocado covered in cheese, I ask for edamame it was good and spicy, and coconut ceviche, but the ceviche was way too salty, everything has green plantains or sweet plantains, and fry arepas, not wat I expected, definitely am not going back.

I visited this restaurant on a Sunday. Upon entering it wasn’t very crowded and we were promptly seated. After placing our order with Nicholas and receiving our food we were forgotten about. I flashed him down for a refill of my drink inwhich I waited an additional 10 minutes for as he attended to others around me. Once the refill came we ordered a desert which promptly came up however sat there melting for about 10 minutes. I watched as that desert was brought to the table in front of us. They declined because they didn’t order it WE did! I watched as the desert was taken back to the waiting counter were it sat for an additional 5 minutes until the SAME desert was picked up and now brought to our table! Imagine that... the SAME desert placed on someone else’s table was presented to us. I immediately told the waiter my desert needed to be made over because I watched what had taken place and on top of that the desert had melted! I would have canceled it at this point however my daughter was really looking forward to this desert. The desert was then brought back to my table (not sure if it was remade or fresh ice cream just added to the top). At that point I asked Nicholas had he forgot about us? I watched as him and his partner attended to ALL the guest around us (refills, picking up finished plates etc.) while we sat there with empty cups, empty plates and trash on the table. Frustrated I asked to speak to the manager in which Nicolas told me that he was the manager. With no regard to my concerns which I voiced in the most professional way he just looked at me with no remorse. When I asked for HIS manager contact information he told me he didn’t have it! What? There must be an email address or 1-800 number or something, he gave me nothing. This was my first visit and based on reviews I was looking forward to this outing with family. This definitely will not be a place I return to! It’s very dishardening when you are treated like you don’t even exist!

This is the type of restaurant that you get super excited about eating at because of the hype and their instagram page but the reality is it won't meet your expectations. This is definitely not the "best sushi in Miami" and it is overly priced. Publix sushi is better than the sushi rolls we ordered here. If the service had been decent maybe we wouldn't have focused so much on the poor quality of the sushi but even the service was bad. I'm only giving this restaurant a 2 because one out of my 5 cousins "liked" his sushi roll. I'm just trying to save someone out there some money.

Food was beyond spectacular but service was more than lacking. Had to wait 15 mins just to be seen by the server for food and drinks and even longer to order more food. Apart from that would definitely recommend. (If anybody from management reads this please consider hiring more servers)

I had to refrain from an absolute zero rating because the food (when it finally came) was pretty good. Honestly though, step your game up. What a garbage experience. Any restaurant can throw some paper on a table and over car he you for sushi. Basic. Horrible. Service.

I looked up this restaurant on an Instagram influencer account. I think the owners fiancé has a really extensive following community. I saw their fried cheesecake with ice cream and I was sold! My hubby and I drove all the way from aventura. I was so excited. Then I walked into the place and everyone was super nice, good service, and their food was pretty good as well. I liked their original menu, we had a sushi roll and some vegetable noodles and for dessert we got cheesecake and it was monstrous Instagram worthy. But then I realized that they served every single drink in tiny plastic cups. Whyyyyyyyyyy? They serve the cocktails in regular mason jars. Then if you ask for water or soda they give you PLASTIC CUPS! If you ask for a refill they give you another one. I worked many years in the service and hospitality industry and I know this is just lack and poor management. The restaurant itself is not very big, so I kept wondering whyyyyy the hell are all the servers pouring water on tiny plastic cups their dish washer can handle the load for sure. A side from it looking tacky it’s the lack of consciousness is what is not going to make me come back. I wish I could give them more stars. But i feel like management is living under a rock, and is not aware of the crisis that is happening. I know that this may sound over the top, but it stuck with me enough to post a review.

Bad service and bad food. I had bad Japanese food before, but this one was the worst. The fish was old and the rice gad no flavor. The only decent thing was the desert and it wasn't that impressive at all. Don't waste your money at this restaurant; there are way better Japanese restaurants than this one in coral gables.

1st time here, service bad, we had to ask for refills and ask for forks. People sitting next to us had screaming baby and they were asking them if they needed something every second. I know it's because I'm mixed race and they were white. Will never go back there ever again. Plus they are way overprice with 17 sushi rolls. Smh

Warning: this is NOT sushi or Asian, it is Latin-Asian fusion. Fusion can be good, but Sushi Kong missed the mark. Every single roll has cream cheese...?! and they don't even serve them with wasabi or ginger. Rolls were served on wilted, inedible greens and were cut sloppily. Drinks were weak and inconsistent in flavor. Service is incredibly slow and incompetent: I had to ask for water, utensils, a menu, etc. Basically felt like I was doing their job for them. The only thing this place got right was the interior decorating but it's not enough to bring me back.

Food is very good. Sushi is excellent, they make their own mix and flavors. Live Dj over the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). They have brunch on Sunday. Dessert are out of this world. The one on the picture is a kid dessert with home made Nutella.

Food is great but the staff really needs a lesson in basic restaurant etiquette and service. I have been here twice now and have received the same poor service. Servers are not attentive to the customer and are very bland. This place would be 5 stars with great service. Hoping to return to a change in service and update this to 5 stars.

Great date place if you're looking to impress someone visually. Honestly found this place via Instagram and decided to go because it looked stunning and I'll give it that, but I do feel there's a consistency problem. Some items came plated on their signature block, some came on a metal plate, some just came on a plate. When reading the menu or looking around, you couldn't tell what to order that would give you the the best IG or Snapchat story. Which brings me to my next issue. The food wasn't that great, it wasn't bad either, just meh. The sushi rolls are more latin fusion than authentic. The craziest you will get is crispy (ie cooked) white fish. Most are your americanized or should I say latinized salmon and imitation crab rolls...maybe covered in jalepeno or in a queso sauce??? Best party trick is the fried cheesecake. Again looked way better than the actual taste.

We came with a party of ten, and while the servers were really friendly, the service was not really that great. The servers kept forgetting some dishes, and we had to go ask someone for the bill. I wasn’t particularly pleased with the food I ordered—we had the nigiri fiesta and the Havana 305. The fish was good but the rice was cold, which I didn’t like; most of my party liked their food, so I think I’m just used to different type of sushi. Not sure I’d come back, but the place does have nice decor and ambiance.

This is going to be my new sushi place... Was in the mood for sushi but didn't want to go to Sushi Chef (who changed chefs or cooking style cause everything is bland). Luckily, Google maps directed me to this quaint cafe style eatery in the next street on the bottom of a big apartment building. I have seen it a couple of times but never checked it out because it seemed like there was no parking nearby. It turns out there is a big parking lot next to the building (large signage would boost its appeal). Despite its generous use of the disgusting generic Fake Crab Meat (common to most Asian cuisine in the states), the food was quite delicious. Even for a picky eater like my mom, who complains about everything, she gave the Miso soup passing marks (trust me, it's a compliment coming from her). And the "Alaskan special" sushi roll she ate, looked and tasted yummy (according to my mom, I don't eat raw food). I really enjoyed the large portion of smoked salmon in my "Havana 305" sushi roll (it's flavorful deliciousness masked the bland imitation crab stuck in the center of the roll). We are coming back for dinner to see if there's more options. Hint : yank at the front door cause it gets stuck. At first we thought it was closed because the door seemed locked.

The bacon boom appetizer was also worth trying out especially for those who don't like seafood since it didn't taste like it at all. The service was decent but a couple of the orders took a really long time and came out after everyone finished eating.

Today was my first time at Sushi Kong and we actually tasted eight of their rolls the most memorable roll was the Hello Sushi roll it is actually smothered in melted cheese. I know what you're thinking that's not what I would consider normal sushi and it was not it was freaking amazing. Honorable mentions were also the Havana sushi roll I also really enjoyed the Suntray roll. The drinks were okay as not a big fan of sake it was hard to get a mixed drink that did not somehow incorporate it. Overall, I would go back for the Hello Sushi roll. I did not try theor signature desserts but I have heard they are worth trying.

Great ambient. The menu has an interesting variety of Japanese food with a nice Latin twist to it. I tried the Beef Yakimeshi and it's a fantastic mix of sweet fried rice with vegetables and deliciously cooked beef added to it. I'd recommend this place for a nice outing with friends.

Favorite Sushi Place now. I have come here a few times and have only good things to report. The decor is cool and the vibe is nice and chill. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 3 pm and there were a few people there. By the time we left, it was almost full. I had the the Mojito and it was spot on. My sister had the mule and she says it was tasty. The Florida Crunch roll is a must and so is the Tom ka (not traditional but even tastier). Overall, will definitely be back soon. By the way, the service was excellent!

Not sure if they changed administration recently, their lack of coordination is remarkable: table dirty, waiters coming at different times to ask the same questions, they almost force you to leave a minimum of 18% tip... The waiters seemed nice but that's what you expect for what you are paying here. The food is overpriced and nothing special. A group of kids seated next to us warned us about the check since the price on the menu is not the price they were charged( apparently it also happened to someone who warned them)... well, it also happened to us. When we mentioned it to one of the 3 waiters, she didn't seem surprised. They did offer a $3 discount but again, they recover that money when, in order to leave less than 18% in tip, you have to spend some time clicking buttons while that waiter is there holding the tablet... I will not return. The ambiance was nice though...

The Best Fusion Food Ever! The balance of flavors on every single plate is unbelievable. The pizza is just explosion of flavors, between the melted cheese and the passionfruit sauce is just mouthwatering. And let me tell you about that AMAZING fry cheesecake dessert! Wow is Delicious, the balance of the vanilla ice cream and the crunchiness of the fry and salty cheesecake is just the perfect bite. The rolls were also a great experience of flavors. Presentation on the food was on point. A little disappointed on the staff service. I wish the will be explained the plates they were bringing in because we ordered different types... and especially when the place is not crazy busy... I shouldn't be begging for refill for my mimosas.... BTW the Brunch menu looks very yummy, my next visit for sure will be to try the Fluffy Japanese Pancakes!

Worst service I've received at any restaurant I've been to PERIOD. No one greeted us at all when he entered. Finally after 10 mins of just standing there a young guy approached us and seated us. I literally had to get up after 15 more minutes waiting at the table to ask some one to take our order. Never coming back to this place ever again.

I really didn't have a good experience in this restaurant, the customer service was horrible, I was trying to celebrate my niece's graduation, and they made a big deal in organizing a table for a party of 12, they made me wait for one hour and at the end of the day they decided not to set up the table because they were expecting more people to come, so what that hell am i? , i left the restaurant and i went to RED KOI, which is in the same area of coral gables, and they treated me really good, they even gave us the VIP area in the second floor and set up the big table. DO NOT GO TO SUSHI KONG

Amazing decor and amazing food truly an art form the way they serve their dishes, and sushi was by far top on the list of best sushi ever! Overall service was very nice, the waiter was very attentive and the our orders was brought out quickly. Enjoyed my meal very much, happy customer☺️

I visited for the first time and had the tempura conch roll. I opted to have the honey mustard on the side since it also comes with eel sauce ( that turned out to be the right decision honey mustard and eel sauce do not mix in my simple brain ) the food was delicious however. The 2 issues with Kong, the limited menu and rolls on it are complicated. Also there is no value for lunch, I spent $19.00 for lunch today with a water. Maybe they are catering to the Brickell and Gables business crowd because their location is somewhere in between. Probably better a a dinner option but worth checking out.

Danger: Hands off the PLANTAIN ROLL! I went there last night for the first time. Ordered to go. Had to throw away the plantain roll as I was really distasteful and gave me an allergic reaction. Asked the store to changed it but they refused :/ 18$ gone. However, pretty setup and they also had a dj playing nice music. Little spot tucked away on Coral Way packing fantastic food. Contemporary decor throughout welcomes you to the restuarant. DJ spinning music in the background was unexpected. Creative sushi rolls with district favors and textures. The fried noodles with the fried egg on top is on point. Prices are fair for the excellent quality. The dishes are served on various trays which is unique aesthetic touch. The towering cheesecake had a crispy flaky shell with huge ice cream ball and the "special nutella" sauce was good enough to drink on its own. Simply put, great food in a quiet spot. Recommend checking this place out.

The sushi is not very good. The Salmon doesn't taste very fresh. This is my third time eating here and I get more and more disappointed everytime I go. The worst thing is the service. It"s really slow and the servers don't really pay attention. We we're waiting to pay out check for so long we had to stand up to give it to a server. When we did I noticed our server sitting on the couch with a girl like if they were on a date. The desserts are amazing and is the only reason I will keep on giving them a chance. If anything I'm going to come for just the desserts.
