Pretty good BBQ. Lacks any sort of point of view. It's not really texas, not really Carolina, not really anything in particular. But it's solid BBQ. the burnt ends were probably the best meat that i tried there, and the sides were all solid. Not worth a detour, but worth a stop if you're in the area.

HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE!!! I’d leave NEGATIVE stars if possible. The waitresses had UGLY ATTITUDES, bad service and problems with our stroller placement. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!!!! I used to absolutely love Shivers. But lately they have fallen way off. My food is always luke warm when I order. Sometimes it's not even fresh. The portions are an insult. But yet, silly me still continue to patron there hoping things will get better and maybe just maybe the day that I went was just an "off" day. However, aside from a few bbq stands sprinkled here and there, they are still one of the best options in the Leisure City/Homestead area. That speaks volumes of the food options :-/

The food at this place is consistently good. The service is fast, so you will be eating pretty soon after placing your order. It gets hectic depending on the time you come, and sometimes there is no space. It can be a little loud at those times. It's a good place to eat at.

Delicious barbeque with an amazingly friendly staff. With its open picnic table seating, the restaurant has a super casual feel, and makes you feel right at home. My favorite dish was their baby back ribs. Fall-of-the-bone tender, the meat is juicy and full of flavor. Be sure to also try their corn bread souffle. I loved the couple bites that I managed to get before my son wolfed down the rest. If you're looking for a solid meal, do check out this place!

Was in the mood for BBQ, so decided to give Shiver's a shot based on reviews. I order the pulled chicken sandwich w/beans and slaw. Waited about 20 minutes for food to come out. Very small bowl of beans were barely warm, the sandwich roll was crusted like stale bread. The chicken was mostly dark meat with gristle that I had to spit out. The flavor was not too bad, hence the 2 stars, but it didn't make up for the previously mentioned issues. I try to support family owned places, but most chain BBQ places would blow this place away. Can't recommend, wont be back.

Good food and good service. Collette provides service with a smile. Try the homemade BBQ sauces. The fried corn was good, but I can do without the excess butter they put on it. The okra needed a bit more seasoning, but crispy and good. The ribs and chicken were outstanding. Enough on a combo plate for two to share. Bench seating, so be prepared to rub elbows with strangers.

Great place! Do yourself a favor and bypass the chain restaurants and stop here. Staff is really friendly and helpful. My family got different combos so we could sample all the meats. Well that didnt happen. I don't even think we talk to each other then to say "try this sauce". The meat stands alone. Its not a high volume of smoke,which lets you enjoy the true meat flavor. I almost felt guilty trying the sauces. My family all agreed we loved them all. We did however ranked the sauce. We agree dark sauce to light sauce, in that order. Just so i am clear. You really dont need sauce but you really should aleast taste the sauce. Sides? If you a country boy you will get it. I have the greens and black eyed peas. I had sauce left over, so not to waste. I drop a little on the black eyed peas. Great side. Entire family was happy with my take out and there was nothing to take to work the next day. So next visit i just older by the pound!

Best place to eat a good afternoon lunch. Not only is the staff the best to us ;military personell; but to all their guest. We get the best service in and out of uniform. If anybody ever want to go get some good BBQ look no further. Highly recommend the corn souffle and the burnt ends sandwhich.

Heard about this BBQ joint from a friend and decided to give it a try. From the outside of the restaurant and the reviews it looked promising. I'd ordered a bunch of things (brisket, pulled pork, BURNT ENDS sandwich and BE platter togo along with a bunch of sides.) I'd enjoyed everything except the brisket, it had a nice smokey flavor but I felt like the texture could of been more tender. Friendly and attentive staff. Picnic tables. Shiver's in its own rights is definitely on the top of the BBQ game.

We were recommended this place by a friend. We went there after an event and the place isn't huge so be prepared to wait. It gets busy. We had ribs and pulled pork. I would order the ribs again. Sides wise is typical Thanksgiving. The jalapeno grits were great though!

This was our first time at Shiver's. The ribs (baby back and normal), burnt ends sandwich, hash brown casserole, and garlic bread were excellent! The service, collard greens, sweet potato fries, and jalapeno cheese grits were great! The fried mac and cheese was not very good (we didn't ask our server about this before we ordered; we just wanted to try it). Overall, we would definitely go back, but would try a different appetizer.

Some of the best BBQ in South Florida. Baby Backs are fall of the bone and brisket was tender and juicy. Service was decent and pretty quick considering how crowded it was. Be prepared to wait a bit, especially on a Sunday night....but worth the wait. It's family style dining tables so if your sociable you can meet some new friends.

Shiver's BBQ was an excellent experience for delicious BBQ. The seating was community, sitting shoulder to shoulder with other people on long picnic benches. The menu is packed with great offerings from chicken, beef, and pork to collared greens and corn soufflé that was so good I wished I brought a quart home. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was fun. The entire meal was awesome and I will certainly return here again.

So much to take in that I cant write a detailed review based on this visit. If that tells you anything, it should tell you that it's worth more than just a second visit...it deserve about 20 visits. Haha The best time to stop in is as close to 5:30pm as you can, this place packs in fast. Some of the best BBQ I've ever had...I can say that.

Best BBQ in Greater Miami area. Better than any I've had even in the deep South. Place has been around in same place for 50+ years if not more. Founded by Shiver family. A South Miami Dade pioneer family. BEST BABY BACKS AND BURNT TIPS! Incredibly moist and fall off the bone. Their sides are truly SPECTACULAR. Insane corn bread and sweet potato cobblers. Crazy good coleslaw. Creamy and delicious. Amazing hushpuppies. Too many to list but all sides homemade and better than any other BBQ place. Just as an example..most BBQ places colesaw is icky and one questions where and how it was made..yikes..BUT not shivers..EVEN THEIR COLESLAW is a culinary delight. What else can I say. YOU MUST GO.

The best ribs in Miami-Dade! We live closer to a competing ribs icon, but we drive to Shivers. The baby back ribs are so tender they fall off the bone. Servings are generous and the staff friendly and responsive. Do be aware that it's "picnic style seating" where there's long tables and benches. This place is packed at lunch every day which speaks volumes about the taste and quality of food. If I could give it 10 stars, I would not hesitate to do so. Give it at try.

There are plenty of BBQ places around... BUT SHIVER'S IS OUR NEW GO TO !! Baby Back Rib & chicken combo is DELICIOUS. House-made cole slaw is a must ! Great BBQ beans. Their side of 2 "house sauces" need re-work big time... yuk! Stick to the sweet smoke and cayenne pepper sauces that they keep on the tables. They're good. STAFF IS SINCERELY FRIENDLY AND A JOY TO BE WITH AND TALK TO.

Shiver’s BBQ was a spur of the moment stop on the way back from Key West. We got there right at 11:00 when it opened and we were quickly seated and given menus. We asked the waitress what they’re known for and she promptly replied, “the ribs.” Well, those ribs did not disappoint and we’re some of the best ribs I’ve had. They literally fell off the bone and the small amount of bbq sauce they added was the cherry on the top. We also got the burnt ends which were good but no comparison to the ribs. We got the corn nuggets as our app and they were surprisingly sweet and came with ranch. We got collards and baked beans for our two sides and both were delish. Then, we topped it all off with peach cobbler and WOW was that good! It was not too sweet and came with a giant heap of vanilla ice cream on top. If you’re debating on where to go, stop here. As a KC and Memphis barbeque patron visiting for a week in Homestead, Shiver's was a great surprise. I went here back to back a couple days. On a Saturday night the ribs were memorably excellent. On Sunday night the ribs were kinda dry. Sides are good and their baked beans are fantastic.

Before being seated and while you wait they have a take out stand where you can order alcohol or other drinks. They have a large menu that's fairly priced and the food is fantastic!

Seating is at long, long picnic tables that guests share. 6 styles of bbq sauces, from sweet to mustard based..,,the sweet was what I tried and it was perfect for the brisket. Enjoy the food here very much. The ribs are good with a nice choice for sauces. The sides are great as well. We liked the cheesy hash brown as well as the corn bread souffle. Wife really liked the jalapeno grits which were her favorite. The kids loved the fried corn and I'd recommend it as well. Everyone that works there is extremely friendly an accommodating.

If the line when it opens is already a 1/2 hour long you're probably in the right place. Food is exceptional... Ribs just a little bit better than the brisket. Pulled pork was very good. Hush puppies on the small side. Nothing but praise for the cooks. But even better than the food was the wait staff... The hostess was as friendly as anyone in the state! Made waiting fun. Make sure you visit while in the area.

Ordered burnt end platter, but unfortunately only 2-3 of the 12 pieces could pass off as real burnt ends. First giveaway was the light coating of bbq sauce when they came out, which is something you never do with good brisket. You can tell they used the sauce to burn/caramelize edges of regular brisket chunks and try pass it off as burnt ends. If you tell me you are out of them, I can get over that. In the world of bbq, cutting corners and faking things can hurt your brand real fast. Reason I am still giving 3 stars is because brisket was still good and service was decent.

My brother and I ate here on May 20th. Terrible experience. We walk in, no greeting or anything of the sort. No indication to seat ourselves. I've been to plenty of BBQ joints where you go to the counter, order, and they bring the food to the table. It looked like that's what was going on, so that's what we did. We ordered, then went and sat at one of the tables. We sit there for probably 30 minutes waiting on our food. During this time, we realize you just sit down and a waitress gets your order, brings you drinks, etc. We felt kind of bad, because we're obviously in a waitress's section who is most likely working for tips. My brother and I decide we're going to apologize for the confusion and tell the waitress to please serve as she normally would, and that she can expect to be tipped. So, the waitress finally walks up to us, and before my brother can tell her this (we could tell she was unhappy with us/had an attitude just by the look on her face), she says something to the point of "your food is at the counter" and walks off. Alright then lady, had you waited two seconds to listen to us, you would've gotten a nice tip for basically doing nothing, but OK. So, we walk back up to the counter to get our food (remember, we've been waiting about 30 minutes at this point). The girl at the counter tells us our food has been ready for about 15-20 minutes and she's kind of laughing while she's telling us this. So, apparently that's funny for some reason. I mean, we're literally 20 feet away from this person, she can see us, but she can't come over and tell us our food is ready? Can't even yell at us? Nope. We spent about $50 total, figured it's the least they could do for us. So, we get our food and go back to the table. My spare ribs were dry. The baby backs were boiled, improperly smoked, or braised, or some combination of the 3 because they had zero bark/color, were slathered in sauce, and fell off the bone. The pulled pork was OK, but honestly, gotta try pretty hard to mess that up. The sides were straight out of a freezer bag, or at least that's what it looked like. My brother got the same thing except brisket instead of pulled pork and was much less impressed than I was. He probably ate 1/4 of his before finding a long black hair in the to go box, at which point he decided that was enough for him. Honestly, I feel like this is more on us than Shiver's, being that we're from Georgia and should have known better than to get BBQ in Miami. Once you're used to places like Fox Brothers and B's in ATL, Sandfly BBQ in Sav, etc. the bar is set way too high. That being said, the food was mediocre at best. However, I would not be writing this review if it was just the food that was lacking. The lack of attention when we walked in, the apparent comedy in our food being ready in 10 minutes while we sat there for 30 without being told, and the rudeness of the server made this one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. Oh, and the huge black hair in my brother's take out box...can't forget that. I understand this place has been around for a long time. I'm assuming the majority of the 4-5 star ratings (that the owner likes to reference in response to negative reviews) must have occurred some time ago/under different management, because I would give zero stars if I could. Or maybe this is what passes for "5 star BBQ" in Miami. Either way, I feel sorry for anyone who thinks this is indicative of what good BBQ or service is.

Well I am writing this review as I am sitting at the community table . I drove 50 miles to come here and been wanting to for years. I have had BBQ all across south Florida from Palm Beach to Key West and this is the best yet. They offer Burnt ends and not just on a Friday or a Wednesday but everyday and they were amazing and a generous portion at that. The beans coleslaw and the cornbread soufflé was amazing. Pulled pork was juicy and tender and the ends cut with a fork delicious .. May be out of the way for most but take my word if you love real BBQ make the trip you will not be disappointed. Friendly service and an old time feel . A+++

Delicious BBQ and brisket. Lots of smoked meat smells and it was so tasty. The sides were also great and with a great variety. Also had a full kids' menu. Everyone in the family had a good meal and gave it a thumbs up. Fun picnic table style seating.
