The staff is very friendly and helpful, I have been coming for years and I am always greeted with a warm smile. I gladly drive over an hour to enjoy Marumi! We ordered 2 rolls volcano and fantasy roll. Volcano tasted like old fish. Fantasy had no flavor we asked if they could do something about the bill we had one roll of each and they couldn’t do anything wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone !

After being to Japan I've been longing for some authentic ramen. Friend of mines suggested this place since he frequents it for their sushi. Sad to say the ramen tasted like a pack of ramen from the grocery store. The pork also had no melt in your mouth quality. On a good note the servers were very good and food came out very fast. Fried squid was very good and their rice was delicious.

A solid sushi spot with lots of options. I ordered the Iris combo, which was a pretty good deal. Portions were as expected for a sushi spot, though I was impressed with the amount of avocado they included in the rolls. Service was quick and courteous though not particularly warm.

Delicious mix of authentic Japanese and Americanized-Japanese cuisine. Be sure to always review their specials on the dry-erase board that they roll to your table once seated. Their menu can be a little overwhelming but they have a lot of amazing dishes that are sharable. I enjoyed having most of their cooked dishes. The sushi was a bit bland the first time I had it with the raw fish not tasting very fresh. But it's a busy place and they are allowed having an off night. No worries. I have been there a handful of times when visiting and have noticed it is very popular with the locals. Try to get a reservation on weekends because you might have a long wait otherwise.

Small family restaurant, really good food. Their menu has a lot of good items to explore, so be adventurous when ordering. While, I am not an expert on sushi, I did notice they don't use the generic "wasabi" powder to go with their sushi. That in itself was an experience.

This is an establishment where other people in the Asian restaurant business eat. I have seen it firsthand, and to me that speaks volumes. The options here are their main menu or hand written boards with options that change every time I visit. The staff is more than happy to offer their recommendations and explain what the item is. My favorite part is that the owner is there cooking the food. I have never had a negative or marginal experience here, and plan on going again soon.

Went with fiance for dinner and ordered the eel don. It was perfect! Also love their choice in music. The sushi was amazing as well. Had the Japan Cajun tuna from our waitress suggestion and that's going to be my new go to. Planning on making this place our regular go to.

I went to this place on a friend's recommendation. I was very pleasantly surprised. This place reminds me of Yakko San when it was located at West Dixie Highway in North Miami Beach years ago. Some dishes are similar too. I ordered Volcano Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Mentaiko Pasta, Wagyu Beef Tataki. Curry Udon Noodle Soup, Crispy Fried Needle Fish, and last but not least Raw Oyster with special dressing. Volcano Roll, a little weird, but good. Raw Oyster, best raw oyster I've ever had. Needle Fish, very good but, not crispy enough Curry Udon, its okay, like any other Curry Udon Mentaiko Pasta, pretty good and big portion Wagyu Tataki, Best Tataki ever, very beefy Spicy Tuna Roll, not spicy at all and no taste Finally, I must say at the very reasonable prices that they charge, this is a hidden gem that one must try. I recommend this place any time you are in their neighborhood.

Went in for the first time on a Friday night, had to write or name down and you are called when a table is available. We did notice that there were a couple tables marked as reserved. Next time we may just call ahead but don't think that's required. We waited only 5-10 minutes before being seated. The food was amazing, our new favorite spot for sushi, hands-down. Ramen was delicious. Almost finished our foods, so don't judge the pics. You won't be disappointed. We will be back! Often!

We were lucky to have searched and found this authentic Japanese restaurant without noting down the name after our 1st visit in Nov 2017. Love the specialty dishes on hand written menu board. One thing must try is the Japanese SWEET POTATO TEMPURA. Of course the Otoro sashimi is divine.

The food is great but, it's almost always crowded because it's such a small place. It's nice that they're open later than other places. Ordering to go would be a better option if you don't feel like waiting. There's nearly no room for a waiting area which are 4 chairs inconveniently placed in front of the door by a podium with a sign in log and a few chairs by the sushi bar. I could be mistaken and this may enhance the authentic Japanese experience for others but not for me. Pricing is about the same as other Japanese spots in the area which is typically a little on the mid-high pricing point. I highly recommend the food for it's large portions and great taste (with the exception of a few dishes are very small portions i.e. chicken katsu $11 for 3 strips of chicken and it's just the chicken). Yakisoba, the ramen bowls, fresh sushi, gyoza, and edamame are just a few of the delicious options available on the menu.

This is the BEST Japanese restaurant in Broward and it's truly such a gem to have. Amazing food, great service. Super disappointed. I ordered a volcano roll that cost $13 and the pieces were very small. For $13 I would expect good size roll pieces. I ended up throwing it out as it was not tasty, and was not even sure what seafood they used in the volcano topping. The server was also very rude. There are plenty of other sushi places that I'm sure would be happy to get my business.

Good food as always, but reception could be improved. We went in on a Fri at almost 10pm, at least 3-4 empty tables, no people waiting ahead of us. We wrote down our names and waited for awhile. A guy came to us and politely asked us to wait some more time as they had lots of reservations, not sure if they could seat us. We waited for awhile and got seated quickly. Those empty tables still remained empty when we finished out dinner.

You can get the generic edamame and California roll here but this place truly shines for the more authentic. Do yourself a favor and check out the nightly specials or order something with words you may have to google or ask the server, it's one of the few places in Broward where they offer some of these dishes and they are all pretty amazing.

This is my go to place every time I visit. We can’t wait to come down to Fort Lauderdale. We always make this restaurant one of our stops. Food is delicious. We look forward to see what the specials are. But we always get the crispy bok Choy and tofu in chicken sauce. The sushi is very yummy too. Customer service and food are great. Worst service ever and the food was just ok. We were a party of four and ordered kasei don, chicken curry, crispy fish salad among other things. They brought all the dishes in a timely manner except for the kasei don. We all finished eating and the kasei don wasn't even close to be served. We asked the server a couple of time about the dish, and she told us several times that they were preparing it. After waiting a long time for the kasei don to come, my dad got tired and decided to take it to go. He felt sorry that we were only waiting for his food to come. We paid the bill and waited another 10 min for his food to come. Such a horrible experience!!! We wanted to have a nice family dinner, but because of the bad service everyone got frustrated. About the food, it seems that they changed cook. The food wasn't as good as before. Some of the dishes were a little salty and the presentation looked a little different. Overall, the food is not that great and the service is horrible!!!

The servers saw me and they kept on ignoring me one of them signaled the other that I was standing there and she made a rude gesture with her face until finally someone came to ask me what I wanted. One of my favourite waitresses there spoke very little English but was always very pleasant. Their food is consistently good. * One mistake I made there was ordering seaweed salad thinking it was the same like other restaurants which usually serve Wakame salad.

First time trying this place out and two of my three rolls had rotten fish. The pictures I attached are of a roll that's supposed to be salmon but instead it's some black looking thing. I picked up the order to eat at home and when I called they told me there's nothing they can do and hung up on me. I then went to the restaurant and the owner agreed it was spoiled and gave me my money back.

If your like me who randomly was craving sushi and live near the plantation area you problably will like me google sushi and this place will pop up.And my honest review is look a little further and go somewhere else.Besides the baby sized pieces of beef that lacked any seasoning ,I ordered a Spicy salmon Roll wrapped in Soy.The fish looked like it was beat with a mallet and again was barely any inside the sushi roll.This is my first negative review on google and I'm sorry.Hope it helps the restaurant and anyone searching for a good quality sushi spot. This place is fantastic! Nothing fancy or trendy but the staff is very attentive and the food is so fresh and wonderful. the pricing is reasonable too. A lot of people who eat the “Americanized” sushi don’t seem to like this place as I do, so I often dine solo. I never really looked at those parts of the menu so I couldn’t tell you how those nasty cream cheese rolls or disgusting hot mayonnaise dynamite roll or California rolls are. I usually go for the unusual sea creature that I have not tried yet or table spy some foodies plate and just say that looks interesting and say I’ll have what that guys eating. The daily chalkboard menu is great, always another critter to sink my teeth into. Some of my favorites are the fried smelts, the sweet shrimp with the fried shrimps head, pork belly and the uni. I sit at the bar to make sure I get a good look at what’s going on in the kitchen to help target my next meal.

Authentic Japanese food right behind your house. Even if you don't live here, it's well worth the trip. Rotating specials and an ultra picky head chef means you will get quality products. This isn't your run-of-the-mill sushi joint. Not only are they open late (very late), they offer some experiences you will not easily find in America. As someone who first came here and couldn't find anything appealing, but now have several favorites, please try this place more than once.

Although the sushi & sashimi is good, take advantage of the many Japanese dishes that they offer which you can't get elsewhere. Ask for help from the servers as to what is what? i have been to japan 4 times and i have to say this is a japanese restaraunt, everything the decor, the quality of the food, and the workers are japanese. this restaurant is what you will find in japan from the minute you walk in the door. i have traveled all over the united states you will rarely find a restaraunt this authentic and with a full spectrum ofjapanese food and variety. i have to repeat though everything here is japan. the food the portions, the taste, and quality. this is exactly where the common man in japan would go to eat and drink with friends and family and busness partners. if your looking for a place with huge portions and where everything is made to the higheast quality your better off going to all the chinese/korean/thai imitation japanese restaurants all that are everywhere all over this this country that only serve sushi and ramen. like i said this restaurant is a japanese restaurant. if you want to expirience what the average japanese restaurant is like with a complete variety of japanese food that also has a japanese soul. It's weird to me that even with "sushi" in the name, the sushi here is no better than anything you might find sitting in a grocery store Deli. That being said, other dishes are pretty good. The hot pots and traditional Japanese fare make up for the poor sushi. Customer service is good and the restaurant is clean and welcoming.

Marumi Sushi is probably the best sushi and Japanese cuisine in Broward County. Everything at Marumi is authentic and is served in small portions. The Clear Mushroom Soup was absolutely delicious and looked elegant. The sushi was great and is the best in town. Definitely worth trying.

This place is amazing, the food is really mouth watering and whoever says otherwise don't believe it! I live in Aventura and don't mind the drive over there. The owners are always present and the staff it's very kind and attentive. Being going there whenever I can for 9 years. I just wish they were closer to me.

The staff don't care and the wait is always long. Skip this place it's just like every other sushi joint I doubt anyone commenting how "authentic" it is has been to Japan because I have and this place and its staff are nothing like anything I encountered.

Food is always excellent. Favortite sushi spot around. Would have gave 5 stars if they weren’t so stingy with their sauces for carry out orders. I order 3 rolls and all I ask for a 2 spicy mayos and soy sauce but they try to charge me extra for soy sauce packets. Soy sauce packets cost extra if u want more than one. That’s crazy to me.

Incredibly good food. Great sushi, awesome variety in Izakaya (think Japanese tapas). The chefs are extremely passionate and talented and it shows in the taste and presentation of the dishes. I always recommend Marumi. They also have a great selection of Japanese beers and Sake. They have dishes at all prices and the vibe of the venue is authentic.
