Jaime was incredible in the bar. She took amazing care of us and even though she looked like the busiest person in the entire restaurant, she treated us like we were the only person in the restaurant. She was helpful in offering menu items, we never had an empty drink, and she always made time to have small conversation. I can’t remember the last time we had service this good. You need ten more Jaimes working for you.

We've been going to Benihana for the last 30 years, absolutely love their ginger dressing, that was good as always. However, my best friend and I were really surprised when our veggies included mostly onions,and zucchini with a few mushrooms. No there veggies, like broccoli. Our service provider did not interact with the customers at the hibachi table. He performed the usual routine like heartbeat rice,volcanic onions, but nothing else. We didn't say anything because we thought maybe he was just having a bad day. For lunch I paid 42.00 and a 9.00 tip. Usually much higher for a tip, but for a chicken and scallop hibachi at lunch it does not include the salad, just the broth soup. So basically for a plate of fried rice and very little vegetables with about a half cup of your meat and broth soup and no traditional Benihana experience everyone at the table was disappointed. This is my first not so good review,ever. It takes a lot for my bestie and I to write a negative review. It will be a long,long time before I'm back

Not the best hibachi I've had but it was good. The steak needed more seasoning and the jumbo shrimp were also pretty bland. The entertainment was okay, but I've seen better routines with more flames and crowd interaction. It may have just been the busy night, but no drinking refills were offered and we didn't get our dessert. The waiter just disappeared after taking our bill.

When first walking in and from the outside the whole place looks a bit run down. The interior was clean but all the interior walls, floors, etc looks like it hasn’t been updated in a long time. The restaurant was also very cold in some seats. Overall our service was very slow waiting on many items such as drink refills and 20+ minutes for dessert. We had to ask repeatably for the same items. Not enough servers were working to handle the demand at lunch time. Overall the food was ok nothing spectacular. The cook was slightly entertaining but not overly excited to be cooking it appeared. In the past I have had cooks with much more excitement and put on a better cooking show. For the price of the food I would not recommend this place.

A fantastic Japanese Steakhouse! The chef was amazing with some pretty amazing tricks. The food tasted fantastic. A bit pricey and not the best place for a quick bite, but left satified and with a smile. Recommended! Especially the location at Keystone Crossing in Indianapolis!

The food was delicious! However the waitress wasn't all that attentive, as we had to ask for water several times and wait quite a while to get her attention. I had ordered their exotic mojito and was very disappointed. It was essentially just orange juice with little to no alcohol. I really love their food but the experience over all is making it hard to spend the money..

Made reservations for dinner, showed up and told we could only sit at the bar due to table top grills being closed for the night, also food was over cooked and dried out as if it was not fresh, possibly precooked and reheated? Not a very good Birthday dinner experience.

Sammy was probably the best chef we’ve ever had at a teppanyaki restaurant. We went for lunch. We didn’t care for the special sauce on the noodles. Portions on the smallish side Everything else tasted quite good. We ordered everything from the veggie lunch to chicken and steak.

We’ve been going to Benihana for years and years and of course on a birthday event we get bad experience. The cook was absolutely amazing as always but when we have the 30% off Birthday coupon, this random woman who was probably just a hostess told us they can’t run our coupon because it wasn’t active and wouldn’t even help us, she was telling my mom in the most rude way and just walked away. They don’t wear name tags but she had her hair up, Half African American and pretty average height and build. We just didn’t want to be those people that asks to talk to a manager. Everything else was great service though.

Normally a good time and place for a meal. Last night was definitely a struggle for the establishment! Had a reservation and were seated more than 30 minutes past our reservation time. Were told they weren't using 2 tables hear the front because of cold air, but ours was right next to the two deemed out of commission. More than half of our party had to wear their winter coat (with one having to wear two) to stay warm throughout the meal. Tables seated after us were served and eating before us. We were being served our main course before we got our soup & salad. Some of our guests didn't receive items they had ordered. Just an unfortunate and unenjoyable experience, but put on a front because it was our daughter's birthday celebration. Perhaps it's time to move on to a different restaurant that puts on the same "show" and serves similar food.

This is one of my favorite places in regards to food. The service is not as good as it used to be but the cooks are fun and receptive. For some reason the waitresses always try to skim me on tea and ice cream which comes with the meal but they rarely offer or remind you. They're Benihana wine is awful there is a reason it is so cheap I bought the bottle for 28. It wasn't worth it.

The food was amazing, and the hibachi show was fun and engaging. We chose Benihana because we wanted something that would be engaging for our toddler and special for our parents. Definite success. Everyone loved it. My only complaint - the carpet in the dining area is gross. It's so sticky you can hear your feet pulling off the carpet with every step. And once we left Benihana, you could hear our sticky shoes all over the mall. The three things we've been talking about since dining there: - The food was amazing. (Best salmon I've ever had.) - The show was great. (Raul was a wonderful cook and performer.) - The carpet was disgusting.

Don’t waste your money here. There are so many other amazing restaurants in this area you could visit. The wait time is horrible, even if you have reservations. They sat our table and forgot about us so everyone just sat there for another 30 minutes before even giving our drink order. My chair felt like it was going to break from under me and I only weight 130 lbs. They charged us $10 extra for fried rice, my fault for not checking the menu. They gave my steak to the guy next to me so I had to wait for another one to be cooked and the guy next to me got a whole free steak. The restroom was so gross. My shoes stuck to the floor and it stunk. If you want to go to a good Japanese steak house go to Fujiyama or wasabi. I guarantee it’s way better than Benihanas.

We had the best time here. The food was amazing, Christian was the best Chef, he made us all laugh, participate and I would definitely recommend him. I have an onion allergy and he made my food first so it was nowhere near any onions. A fun place for the entire family, young and old.

I have been to many Japanese hibachi restaurants and this was one of the worst. I went because I had eaten at a Benihana in San Francisco 30 years ago and that was such a good experience. This time was not unfortunately. The food was very bland, the chefs performance was terrible and it was way overpriced compared to other places. I will not go back to this place.

The food was decent the biggest problem that my family had was that our waitress totally disappeared. Upon arrival, the woman at the front desk (appeared to be a waitress) talked about a medical condition she was experiencing the day before. I truly believe that the wait staff needs to be re-trained.

Everything you've seen about the show you get a Japanese steakhouse is done right. That's why they've been around forever. Steak and shrimp done simple and cooked right. Veggies have great flavor. The sake is strong for a chain restaurant. Mars was our chef and he rocked it. Very generous funny and personable. Try to get him to do your table up right.

We were here to celebrate our daughter who graduated today. We were greeted by the friendly staff and the wait time was not bad, 20 minutes. After we got to our seats the server quickly got our drinks and took our orders. The chef that prepared our meal and provided entertainment while doing so was very skilled and genuinely enjoyed doing so. We will be back to do it again!

I would highly recommend Benihana's to anyone looking for a moderate priced, high quality and entertaining dining experience. Additionally, due to the 8 place Hibachi seating arrangement, you get to meet a variety of dining partners.

Amazing! The staff was so kind and friendly, the food was out of this world and we got to see exactly how the food was prepared! Our Chef, Mike, was awesome. He made all of us smile and was wonderful. On top of that, our servers respected my vegetarian diet entirely. This place is fantastic and definitely a favorite of mine! I would especially recommend veggie fried rice and the passionfruit green tea.

It's been awhile since I've been here. Probably 8 years. We arrived around 4pm and they were not busy at all. The wait was long but I understand they need to fill tables. Plus that's why there is a bar. Food was amazing, the Las Vegas roll was delicious, good saki and still the best yum yum sauce in any hibachi restaurant I've been to. Great service from all aspects!

I’ve been here twice within two weeks and I have to say my family and I enjoyed every second of it. Our chef was exciting, interactive, and funny (my daughter is one and he caught her attention with his cool tricks). My chicken fried rice was delish, the shrimp was cooked to perfection, and our waitress was such a sweetheart. I had a great experience. Keep up the great work! PS: I love the crunchy shrimp sushi rolls.

45 minutes after we sat down for Hibachi with no cook, I asked to see a manager. The manager never came throughout the duration of the visit, the cook came out 10 minutes later. The dinner was cooked piece by piece. I had the combination steak and chicken with chicken fried rice. He cooked the rice, then he cooked the chicken, then he cooked the steak. My rice was cold by the time I got the steak. Will not be returning here again.

The experience is great, that is what you are paying for with hibachi. That being said, the service was very slow. We had a reservation and ended up having to wait almost half an hour to be seated. Once we were seated the service continued to be slow and at the end of the meal it took our server 10 minutes to run our bills. Combine that with being late to be seated and we were late for our next stop in the evening. Very disappointing. As for the food, the fried rice was bland, the scallops were overcooked, and I had to explain to the server what Sam Adams Boston Lager was when it was right on the menu. We made the best of it and still had fun, but it really was in spite of the service, not because of it. Hibachi should be a really fun night, this was not.

I’m really indifferent on Benihana as of now. Good show experience, but it took us 40 minutes to start getting food. I had to ask for water many times, the server kept forgetting stuff, and I wasn’t thrilled at the two hour experience. We didn’t go at a super busy time and I think the server should’ve been more attentive to us, however, he kept venting on how bad his day was going and didn’t tend to us much- that was more of the show honestly. I don’t think I’d go back again, but I did appreciate the show for what it was.

This is the second time if been to the location to pick up food for DoorDash and they didn’t even start the food. Their excuse is their WiFi while I lose tip money and my customer waits even longer. The manager on duty didn’t even care and when I explained my previous issue she just shrugs and says she can’t do anything about my previous visit.

I used to love Benihana's; however, their service the past two times we've eaten here have been far below our expectations or typical service. We ordered $122 worth of food online for delivery which consisted of 3 chicken hibachi entrees and two separate sushi orders. Keep in mind also that I placed the order through Benihana's website. The delivery driver text me at 8 to let me know they made the wrong order, so she was waiting on them to correct. Once received, we did not receive rice for any of our entrees and were missing one of our side salads. I tried calling to explain what was missing to see if they could redeliver our rice, I got caught in a loophole where I was just repeatedly asked to press option 1 or 2 for 30 minutes. I realized no one was obviously going to answer. After this experience, I may not order from or eat at Benihana again. This type of service just ruined the whole experience.

The food was good. I suggest that if you are vegan, only visit the establishment with a full table of vegans. (8 people) There was so much cross contamination from the beef, shrimp, chicken, eggs and butter and utensils. Don't even get me started as he scrapped the grill clean from the burnt flesh. I almost throw up. If I still ate meat, eggs and butter that would have been a 5 star plus experience. It smelled wonderful.

The food was great. I went to celebrate my birthday. Our chef was good. My waiter was new I think...he didn't communicate the menu very well. He made my fiance and I feel like we had to pay extra for items that were supposed to come with our meals. By the time we got our food, I think I paid extra for something that should've been complimentary and my fiance only got half a meal. I was very disappointed.

The restaurant is always clean and the staff is very friendly. If there's a wait they allow you to know as soon as you arrive. It gets fairly busy on the weekdays, so a call ahead for the show is recommended. The bar can get backed up, typically one man is running it. He does a fantastic job, even of you choose to dine there. Overall a typical experience here. It's always good, just the bar needs help sometimes.

I went their for my birthday and expected awsomeness to happen but i guess you guys didn't have time. We ordered three 5 course meals and requested white rice which we didn't receive. The server came back once and never refilled the ice teas we ordered. When he was told about the missing rice he asked us if we still wanted it. In my mind if im paying for something i should receive it. I will not be be recommending you to any of my friends and family.

The food was tasteless I’ve could have done a lot better myself. I would give no stars if it wasn’t for our server who did a good job. This is the last time I will come here there are better restaurants like this to visit!!!

I dont like sitting with strangers. It makes the experience awkward. Food is always superb but you have to order extra rice to have a full plate of food. If they had private tables and more rice portions they'd be awesome!

Well, I have been to lots of good Japanese restaurants and I had heard about Benihana for a long time and thought I’d give it a try. Overall it was just okay... maybe a little lower than average. The food tasted kind of dull. I mean there was definitely a taste to it but lacked the “ kick” of a Japanese taste compared to all of the Japanese restaurants I’ve been. The steak was cooked the way I wanted it but lacked that Japanese taste. it was just like the steak with salt taste .... I’m a steak lover and I know how steak should taste like, especially Japanese steaks. The fried rice was good enough but a bit salty.. they put way too much soy sauce. I’m Asian and I love Japanese fried rice, but this one was just okay.. The place needs some serious makeover. New paintings maybe?? New door handles? New carpeting? Something... I don’t think the place has had makeover since it opened (I am not sure). I will not be going back there again. Unless, of there are improvements. Good and friendly staff though....

Food was excellent which is the only reason I left 2 stars, not 1. Service was absolutely horrible. Several drinks never came (even when we reminded her), original drinks were not refilled and bar drinks/sake didnt show up until after the 3rd course and only after reminding server (for the 3rd time), the sake was never iced, dirty dishes remained cluttering our table for most of our meal, but what upset me most was a broken glass that my pepsi was served in, I actually sucked a glass chip through the straw into my mouth (yes, it did cut me - luckily I didnt swallow it). No manager ever came to the table even though I informed the server.

We love this place! We take our kids here and occasionally just ourselves. The show doesn't change but it is cute for what it is. The real winner is the food. So yummy! I have been to other Hibachi style restaurants and the food often tastes the same from meat to vegetables but at Benihana they make the flavors pop. I try to only eat half so I can make it two meals. The best time to go is for lunch. Not only are prices about half but the place isn't as packed either. The portions are pretty much the same and I still have leftovers.

HORRIBLE. If I could come up with a worse word without swearing I would use it. We were held hostage at the table for 3+ hours, when we ordered gin and tonics, the server brought tonic waters (no gin in any of them, as confirmed by the bartender) and at the end of the night, it took 3 rounds of bills because the server couldn't figure out who had what. When we called the manager over, she informed us we had been "overserved" when we got upset (no one drank anything, see gin and tonic issue above) and said we were holding her table hostage (because I love not eating for hours at a time). The Manager's name is Robyn - she will treat you like dirt (repeatedly), talk about you behind your back to everyone and then inform you she acted this way because she felt "attacked". Save your money and literally go anywhere else. Literally anywhere. McDonald's has significantly better customer service then this place.

I went to Benihana last month for the first time for my mother’s birthday and everything was good. Yesterday we went for my uncles birthday and from the time we walked in the entire experience was TERRIBLE! The hostess was rude, the server had an attitude, and the manager ASHLEY was absolutely horrible that’s the worst manger I’ve ever come into contact with! We waited an hour to even get food (salads and soup) after being stuffed at a table with another family and being told “pull up a chair”, and having a 5:00 PM reservation we didn’t eat till 6:30. My granny drove three hours to take my uncle out for his birthday and that was her first and sadly her last time dining at Benihana.

Why do people love Benihana? It comes down to one thing and one thing only. Especially considering there are so many copycat hibachi style restaurants now offering much competition to the once Japanese hibachi style giant and that would be The Benihana EXPERIENCE! Which for us (my girlfriend and myself) has spanned well over 25 years filled with birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, moving from one city to the next, shopping excursions, romantic dinners, and even the downright must have benihana today experience! The experience is what keeps the other copycats away. Recently I summited a customer complaint online about the horrible service I recieved at your Benihana Keystone/Crossing Indianapolis location. To no surprise of course I received a call from the stores District manager Chis Cabbage. He told me who he was and that he was following up on my complaint. I attempted to explain to him the horrible experience we had at this location from the outrageous wait time, the freezing temperature in the restaurant, the obviously rude and racist manager Ashley on duty ( who almost succeeded in making me lose my cool) and this location making no attempt at all to satisfy an unhappy loyal customer. Needless to say to my surprise throughout our conversation Mr. Cabbage never once apologized! Not until I brought it to his attention of course did he even feel the need to apologize for his stores poor service and bad behavior. Instead Mr. Cabbage missed my point totally he was so concerned with my exchange with the manager Ashley that ne totally negated what the initial point of his called was supposed to be which is always to apologize and make it right with the customer. Instead he questioned me as if I'd done something wrong as if me patronizing my favorite restaurant for over 20 years resulting in thousands of dollars in revenue not just from myself but everyone I ever encouraged to patronize them as well meant absolutely nothing at all!I felt as if I were having to defend myself and I'd done nothing wrong. At this point I choose to end our conversation and let him know I would be speaking with someone else regarding this matter. Still not having lost faith in the Benihana experience I was sure once I contacted the main office in Florida this issue would surely be resolved. I called once and left a message, twice and left a message and of course a third time again no one called me back. My point is that it's not your flyby night occasional customers that keep a business going strong. But rather that core group that has remained loyal and spent thousands of hard earned dollars coming back year after year and serving as virtual advertisements when selling the Benihana experience to friends and family in order to drive business. And it has truly ruined the Benihana experience for me! Knowing that my return business, righting a wrong and creating a better experience than the horrible one I just had isn't important enough to receive a follow up call well that's just bad business. And one I will definitely have to share with others! Especially after I commented on a post that was posted on their site Benihana's blocked me from the page and then blocked me on messenger how sad after so many years of being a loyal customer! I'm appalled at their childish behavior and disregard for a loyal patron!

Oh, Benihana. What happened?!! This used to be such a fun, unique, nice place to eat—every chef treated dinner like a party, the food was excellent, and it was very clean. Now? Ugh. Where to begin. First of all, the women’s bathroom was disgusting. It obviously hadn’t been cleaned all day and smelled of urine, and there was excrement on the floor in one of the stalls. Yes. Actual poop on the floor. I advised a woman who appeared to be a manager, but I didn’t have the stomach to go back in to check if the bathroom had been cleaned. Our chef was sweet enough, but she had no personality at all, and the food had little flavor. The bright spot was our server. She was prompt, kind, knowledgeable, and the only reason this review has more than one star. We won’t be back.

And, this is a perfect place to celebrate a birthday with friends. The food is good and the service is typically excellent. That said, the reason to dine here revolves around the entertainment value provided by the chef who prepares the meal at the table.

We were told we'd be waiting 30-45 minutes, tops. This is on a Tuesday. After 45 minutes, they call us, but as a party of 2. We were a party of 5. They told us they'd get right on it, and then proceeded to seat five other people. We waited an additional 45 minutes before our daughter broke down. The manager insisted we were just about to be seated. This was the third time we had been told that. When I pointed out how long we had been there, he flippantly remarked that there was a 45 minute wait and that we knew that going in. He did not care in the slightest. As a side note- I watched a party that was seated early on from when we got there. When we left, they had been sitting at their table for an hour with only waters. This is a terrible restaurant and it is terribly managed. We are never going back.

So disappointed with our experience tonight. We are visiting from out of town and have not been to a Benihana in years. The portions were tiny. Five adults paid 4 dollars extra each to upgrade to fried rice and we did not even get a full bowl each of the rice, nor were we offered the white rice which is supposed to be included in the price. Also super skimpy on the veggies. Our “chef” was so boring. He cooked in front of us, but other than the rudimentary volcano trick...nothing! As far as the service, our waitress was pleasant but was asking us if we needed take out boxes within 2 minutes of the chef completing the cooking. We actually laughed because none of us anticipated having any food left since there was so little. Bill came to over 400 for 8 of us and we stopped for snacks on the way back to our hotel. Never again. With so many mom and pop hibachi places opening in a genre that was popularized by Benihana years ago in the US, they need to re-evaluate and step it up.

The staff was having issues and it was a bit inconvenient, but as someone whose worked in customer service I understood it was something out of the staff's control. I went for my birthday today. I was very disappointed, I'm not one for bad reviews but this makes two times I've left u unhappy. I came last year for my birthday, to make a long story short the service was terrible. My waitress was so rude and almost non existent. Never the less I still tipped my 20% and decided to chuck it up to her having a bad day. Today same thing. Front desk host was great, my waitress very rude! I ignored. This may be my fault for comparing to osaka and show gun, but ever meal comes with fried rice (plain with some soy sauce an vegies). When she asked if I'd like to upgrade to chicken friend rice, I started I was fine with the vegetable it came with. So the cook proceeds to serve me white rice. I said I'd like fried or that I'd like soy sauce added. He calls the waitress o e who proceeds to yell at me that I didnt order it that way. I apologized for the miscommunication and asked if I could please have it the way I'd like. She was so upset! I get the bill and was upcharged 6$ per meal for "fried" rice that usually comes with the meal. She upcharged several items. My normal bill of 68$ was 100$ even after the 30$ birthday coupon. They were out of all beer except 2, the blender wasn't working apparently so no frozen drinks could be made, she stated no pop was available except dr.pepper and diet Pepsi. I asked for a crayons or a pen for my kid to color on the kids menu color sheet, she stated they didnt have that. Yet you pass out kid menus with color options and games. No saki, no entertainment! What was the point in coming? This is the only location at the mall of America who seems to disappoint. The reviews clearly state there is a bigger issue with service.

Fried rice tastes great but they charge you 4 bucks more for it. They dont let you sub veggies for extra fried rice. Most hibachi places do. They let me sub steamed rice for veggies and I mixed it with the fried. Worked pretty well. The teriyaki chicken is not as good as the regular hibachi chicken. In general the food was good but the prices were just too high for the amount and quality that I was given.

I have been to several hibachi style places. This was boring and food was ok. And for the price I will not go back. I hear so many good things about Benihana, I was wanting to go for many months. Maybe even years. I was not impressed nor was i even content. Our lady waitress was excellent and extremely accommodating. Thus the reason I gave 3 star and not one. I would recommend that the cooks have more than a few tricks and the food quality be increased. However, very accommodating to kids too. That's what got them another star.

The staff set up an area in the back for us, gave us a private table, the best server (Nick) and an amazing chef. Reservation at 8:15pm. Seated around 9:00pm. Salads were never brought out until we inquired. Waitress was never around; left dirty dishes and cups on table throughout meal. Others at table had to ask for missing food. Chef was good, but not a lot of interaction with guests. Paint peeling and stains on ceiling all over. This place used to be a favorite but definitely going downhill. Have been numerous times.. didn't recognize any staff. Maybe new? It was a Monday night. Didn't get out of there until 10:20.

Food was really good. LOVED THE VEGGIE RICE and mustard sauce! Matthew was terrific. A couple citicisms would be to not arrive before your reservation, they won't seat you before. Don't order appetizers, they won't bring them out until your half way through your meal. Only other gripe, and it's a small one, is if your with a large party that is paying individual bills... take cash because credit cards take forever. Outside those things definitely recommend!!! OH and about the appetizer...the tuna poke wasn't my favorite it was super small for the price and very fishy tasting.

Definitely not the best experience I've had at a Japanese steakhouse. What happened Benihana? Used to be so good. Service today was sub-par. Took forever just to even get our drinks. $130 bill for basically bland plain fried rice with nothing in it and a couple veggie Maki rolls. The "show" by the hibachi chef was practically nil. We were there for about 2 hours, and it wasn't until nearly an hour and a half in that we got all that we ordered. Somehow lost in translation that I actually wanted everything that my 5 course meal came with including the salad, rice, and shrimp appetizer. Very discouraging. Wouldn't go back again, at least not to this location.

As soon as we arrived a little early for our 715 reservation, we were seated immediately. 1st time at any Benihana. My friend had a question about the menu because no one has spoken to us so she went up to the hostess and she states she was given the menu for the Magical Dining and was just kind of dismissed in a rude manner. The waitress was delayed and very terrible customer service. The only reason it is 2 stars and not 1 is because Calvin the chef made a good show. After the fact, found out the hostess was the manager who also didnt have good customer service. Food was bland. Needless to say, I compared it to Kobe and I think that place is so much better. Dont ever plan on returning to Benihana again.

Worst service by far. I dined in this evening with my two kids. Ashley the manager took our order due to being understaffed. My drink was flat. Soups & Salads were okay. We ordered a sushi roll and received zero soy sauce which I asked for. A hostess carried me out already poured soy sauce in a dish that she poured... Normally we pour our own?? We asked for low sodium and received regular. So ended up eating the sushi without. I ordered the Ocean Treasure. The lobster and scallops were not cooked all the way through. I told her that they were cold in the middle and chewy. Instead of offering to take it off the table and have it remade cooked all the way through...all she gave me was a $5 credit on a $40 plate. Sad. Needless to say we won’t be back to the Indianapolis Benihana. Ashley is a manager, but her management skills were lacking majorly tonight. I was in such shock that we just left. Didn’t even get to eat what I ordered. This place is really going down hill. It’s not what it use to be.

We have been to numerous hibachi restaurants and this is by far the worst. A joke 4 dollars for fried rice from 8 people at the table do 32 dollars extra for two split chicken breasts and an onion. WOW! And bland to boot as everyone at table added salt or soy sauce to add some flavor. Veggies were onion and zucchini in terribly small portions. Steak comes to table already cut up so no way to tell if you got the cut you paid for. 2 small shrimp for the so called shrimp appetizer Chef at table had no pizzaz. Barely could do egg roll joke and choo choo train with onion. What a joke!! Complained and manager blew us off Find better style restaurant (Kobe or similar) and skip this joint

This place was stellar. Food was fantastic. Our server was outgoing and entertaining. It's a bit pricey. Plan on spending $50.00 per meal but the experience was so worth it and they take your picture so be cute.

First, I will say that not every aspect of my aspect was perfect. The hosts were kind, seated me promptly and the atmosphere was very nice at this restaurant. This was my first experience at a Benihana. The server, to put it nicely, left a lot to be desired. He made very rude comments, that I truly believe the felt were funny....but were far from it. Everyone at the table thought he was way out of line with his rude comments. The chef, however, was amazing. If you eat here, request Jose. He made the experience great. The food was also absolutely delicious. The reason why my stay is 4 stars, is because the manager Jean was incredibly responsive to my feedback regarding my server. I filled out a feedback form the same night that I ate at the restaurant, and she contacted me at 8 am the following morning via e-mail, and there was a resolution to the problem at the end of that day's business. I trust that the way that she handled the problem for me that she does genuinely care about the guest experience and that this server will be re-trained on how to provide exceptional service. Therefore, I moved my rating up to 4 stars. It was not 5 stars because there was the initial problem with the server that I wish would have never happened to begin with.

Went with my friend today to catch up after months of not seeing each other and our server was amazing! Was very friendly and kept refilling our drinks. I've been a Benihanas fan all my life but tonight was the first night we sat down at a regular table and my wife and I ordered the same thing that we always do but this time the food was cold the shrimp was burned(but cold) and the food tasted way different then when we ate when they cooked it in front of us. If I based it from this experience I would never go back I hope they can change thing around to the better so others can have a better experience.

The ventilation systems didn’t seem to be working so the smoke kept blowing in our faces. The server charged us for a drink that never got brought to our table. I had to flag down another person just to get water before we left because the server quit bringing us drinks half way through. 1st experience at Benihana and also my last. Small portions, had no left overs at all with the hibachi chicken order. Expensive for the price. Fried rice is an extra $3 and $4.50 for fried rice with 3 pieces of chicken. Food tasted fine, a little salty, but may have been just this instance. Would not go there again after having better and more filling experiences at other hibachi restaurants.

Had an ok experience. Went for a birthday dinner and was seated with the grumpiest people ever. The chef was quiet and boring and had actually popped some oil on a child guest with the "onion volcano". That wasnt very pleasant. The chicken and the eggs were overcooked and hard. The service was ok but I had to call for my drink twice to be filled. The birthday "dessert" was one small scoop of ice cream, nothing on it. We were also supposed to get a picture for the birthday but we were rushed out once the chef left and was never offered the picture. Like I said, its ok. Keep the receipt just in case they charge you more later, this seems to be a normal practice here. Update: 07/11, I got a call back about the complaint and the only thing they said was "thanks for choosing us, we appreciate your feedback". No offer of compensation, I guess they don't Care if customers come back. Thanks guys

This was my very first time at Benihana, the chef and the food was so amazing . However, the service was quite poor and the server made it feel like sales pitch unfortunately. The server was the reason two of our entrees were messed up and one piece of chicken was entirely forgotten. On the other hand, the food like I said was some of the best food I have ever eaten! The meal was also compensated partially so I'm grateful for how they handled it.

Having dinner reservations doesn't really mean much here it seems. We waited about 45 minutes past our time to be seated. Our wait staff was also forgetful with food allergies and the kitchen didn't give our hibachi chef enough food for everyone who ordered. Luckily the food tasted good but it didn't make up for the price we paid after having dealt with all the above. Oh and the waiting area to the left sucks, there's like 6 little seats. Can we not have benches if you're going to make is wait 20+ minutes? Sitting would be nice.

Food was OK. Dishes and floor were dirty. We asked for new plates. The bill seemed expensive compared to other hibachi places that give sides compared to here and the food doesn't seem as flavorful. There was no broccoli or noodles served with our chicken. Chefs at other places offer sake while they're cooking, but this one didn't. The chef bombed some of the tricks, which didn't bother us but it also didn't add to the entertainment value. I wouldn't recommend this place but if someone else was paying I'd go again.

Delicious food, very attentive staff and overall a great experience. The parking lot is not very large and it fills up very quickly, so it's best to have them park your car for you. Valet staff is friendly and professional. If the restaurant is busy and you have to wait a long time for an actual hibachi table, you can choose to sit at a table that you will be served the food (it just won't be cooked in front of you). If you do that, you get all of the same food items you would at a traditional hibachi table.

I want to say the food was great and after we were seated the service improved. The issue I had with this visit was with how we were seated. My father and I had explored one of the theme parks in Orlando. We were tired and very hungry. The host said here is a table it just needs cleaned off. I thanked her for getting us in so quick with out reservations. We stood by as servers and bar tenders darted here and there. We stood for almost 30 min waiting for the table to be bused clean. A table beside where we were supposed to be opened up so we took it. The original table still had the dirty plates and glasses on it when we left. Well over 2 hours from when first arrived.

My first-time experience with Benihana was horrible. Our party had a reservation for 715pm. After waiting for a bit we were seated at the table. We waited over an hour and a half before the chef came over to cook. On top of that, it was so hot that it was hard to breathe. A person at our table went and asked if they could turn the AC down. After another 20 minutes, someone in our party went and spoke with the manager to inquire about the AC. The manager explained that the AC was controlled by an outside company that would have to come out and turn down the AC. Instead, she brought out a broken fan to sit in between the tables. Which didn't help. The chef came over to cook and the grill was unable to get hot enough to cook on... It took him 20 minutes trying to get the flat top hot enough. Someone in our party asked if we could be moved to a different table and was told that we would have to wait another 45 minutes for a table. This disappointing for my first visit, on top of that we were celebrating a birthday. I am not impressed with Benihana and will not return.

Just left from there it was sooooooooooo HORRIBLE.. let’s start when I 1st walked in the door I stood there while 3 people where at the front and nobody said NOTHING TO ME..after sitting there about 11 mins I finally asked is there a wait time is anybody available to help us “o in about 10mins “ Okk we waited then was seated, we ordered our food plus a Appetizer and drinks.. drinks came out salad came out (NO FORK) food starting cooking food is place on plate and we received ALL THE WRONG FOOD ... o btw NO FORKS AT THIS TIME NO Appetizer we spoke with the manager who act like she was very upset with us for they fault we then told her we was done and wasn’t going to pay for the bill remind you the food was never eaten because no forks where brought to us she got mad grab as many plates as she could and threatened us with the police ....this place has really gone down hill it is not the same GHETTO n Raggedy just need the board of health in there

Good: Food, Chef Bad: Manager, staff, drink, service in general. My girlfriend and I made reservations for 7:00 PM. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:00 PM. At about 7:15-7:20 they found a table for us with other people that were waiting as well. It seemed like there was some confusion about how to fill the table up with three other parties of two. Anyway, we were sat. They came and took our drink orders, it probably took 10 minutes for my girlfriends drink to come. Two other people at the table did not receive their drink at all and had to go to the bar to retrieve it. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, to which I was told they ran out of the mix for it. I ordered a raspberry instead. When it came, it was not mixed. When the server came around about 10 minutes later I asked for a straw so I could stir it myself to make it taste like something other than water with awkward flavor. I remember checking my phone at 7:43 PM and telling my girlfriend if we didn't at least have a chef at our table by 7:50 it was time to leave and eat somewhere else. Right before 7:50 our Chef arrived. He was good. The food was good. The manager asked how our visit was after we ate, and I was honest. She apologized, told us she'd look into it, and went about her business. That was it. I was a little shocked that that was it. I figured she'd want more details or at least say "have a free diet pepsi next time you come in" or just..anything. I didn't get the feeling she was interested in making it better, so I emailed corporate. What their system must be is something that forwards it right to that location. I got a response from the GM of that location about 3 days later that said "we will look into it thanks for the feedback." I mentioned that 3 days was pretty late for a response, in which she mentioned she just received the feedback so it was not a late response. Tell an unhappy customer they're just plain wrong. Nice. We love Benihana, but it's pretty clear corporate doesn't care and the Mall of America location must have such high volume that making two customers there feel better about their experience is not a priority. The Saint Louis Park location is kind of dumpy, and we don't want to go all the way to the Maple Grove one. When we want a cheaper, high quality meal we'll probably just have to go somewhere else. It's a shame.

Walked in at 4:00 pm. And said they only do reservations on Friday-Sunday. There were maybe 15 people in the habachi side, and the girl up front made us schedule a reservation. We sat there for 15 minutes and they eventually call us and walk us to a table with a couple sitting there already with drinks. We sit down and the waitress was talking to them as we were seated. She asked if they wanted anything else to drink and ignored us and walked away. She had zero professionalism communicating with the lady that seated us. She asked if we could join the couple and the waitress said thats fine whatever and walked off while we sat.

Benihana..... What has happened? It's been a year since our last visit, and highly disappointed. The women's restroom was a mess. Our chef was not at all entertaining, just going through the motions and our server neglected picking up the dirty glasses,plates and bowls which made us make room. It was our daughter's birthday and although we appreciated our server singing a half enthusiastic happy birthday song, it was a slap in the face when the next table had three very enthusiastic employees singing happy birthday. Then our bill was incorrect as my 2 yr old grandson was charged the adult price for a children's meal. Both the server and manager made us feel like that was our fault. Not sure we'll be back.

The actual food was pretty good at this location, but compared to other Benihana the shrimp sauce looked lighter in color and tasted like it was watered down. That sauce is my favorite so it was a little disappointing it didnt taste like the others. Our waitress was awesome, fast and efficient. But our chef looked like he rather jump off a cliff. No talking with the table, he also did the tricks but if you weren't already paying attention you would have missed them. Other tables seemed to be having a good time but ours was a dud!

My husband and I came here for our anniversary date and we had such a wonderful time. We sat and ate at the hibachi side and our chef was excellent. He was entertaining and really nice. Our food was outstanding and cooked to perfection. We have no idea how they do it but the steak always melts in our mouths and we loves the seafood and sushi. We were so disappointed with our visit. We were bringing someone from the first time and it was our worst experience ever. First of all we had reservations and weren't seen by a server for 45min. Then we ordered basic drinks they were unable to make and took forever to come. We two people that didn't want the drinks because it took so long and they still brought it and added to our bill. And yes we told them we didn't want it once it came to the table. Our servers weren't very friendly and then we waited so long to get our check. We tried to talk to manager and she took $20 off a $300 bill which included drinks we didn't drink. Horrible experience and we sadly won't be going back unless management changes.

Food was good, but the atmosphere has taken a hit. Used to be a lot of energy here. It's been a few years since we last visited, but definitely noticed the difference. Benihana used to be a great "celebration" spot for our family, but now think the other hibachi restaurants in the area do a better job. Always have a place in our hearts for this place as it was the first hibachi my wife and I ever went to. However, for celebrations and fun nights out as a family, not sure we would return. It was also 78 degrees in the place, so it was a bit uncomfortable.

I placed a to-go order on my lunch break at 1:15pm. I arrived to pick up my order. The order was never put in. A young man name Jaylin told me that someone either put my order in wrong or not at all. I recognize his voice as he was talking to me. Then he said someone just left to pick up an order almost exactly like mine. I said I think you probably gave my order away he said no she called 10 minutes before you. How did you know when I called if you didn't take my order? Well I asked to speak to a manager name Ann she gave me a dollar off my meal. I missed my lunch and I didn't get my food until 2:40pm. It was not worth my time or money.

Wow this place is amazing! My first time there and hands down it’s an amazing experience. And the sushi is unlike any other restaurant so be sure to order that! The chef cooks IN FRONT OF YOU. And cooks it to HOW YOU like it. That’s something not any restaurant offers. The chef are also very skilled and cook while making tricks and jokes. It’s a perfect spot for large groups and family. I would recommend not to go alone, it’s both awkward for both the chef and the customer since the place is designed to serve in large groups. Other than that it’s a very nice place, and waitress is very quick and always there if you need anything. One negative thing though about this is that there’s food everywhere, IDK if they just fired the janitor but there’s food on the ground from the mistakes the chefs and trust me they don’t make a lot so it’s most likely food from other days or from customers. That is why I rated it 4 stars instead of the 5.

It took the waitress 45 minutes to get to our table. No drinks, no orders, nothing. The waitress would come, ask questions for two minutes, and leave for at least 15 minutes and come back with half the stuff she said she would get. The manager of the store came and asked us how we were doing. I told him we had been sitting there for an hour and he left. He never came back. The chef finally came, cooked the food and left. The waitress came back and took an extra 45 minutes getting our checks. We came in at 8 and didn't leave until 11. Many people came in after us and left before us. A table full of black women just ignored.

We have been to this location more than 20 times and everytime the food is consistently good. Each chef has their own special way of preparing the food, making for a memorable family trip each time. Recommend making a reservation ahead of time and going as a group of 8 if you want the whole table to yourself and your friends.

I always have to drag my husband to habatchi but midway through the meal he turned to me and says "I'd come here anytime you want." We had Thanh as our chef, he was personable and fun, and best of all was when he fooled my mother who was being a total Karen. In the past, I have had nothing but great experiences here. That changed during my family’s visit the evening of the 22nd. Our party of 5 arrived shortly before our 5 o’clock reservation and there were 3 full tables at the time. We were seated roughly 20 minutes later with 3 others making a full table. 30 minutes passed and 5 other tables were seated before anyone even came to take our drink order and another 20 before we ordered our food. To top it off, 7 other tables were eating before our chef even arrived at our table. My daughter ordered a smoothie and she didn’t get it until we were halfway through dinner. Definitely not the kind of service one expects when paying $250 for a meal. Side note: Chef Matthew was GREAT! Funny and engaging and very apologetic for the service we received before he made it to the table. He is also the only reason I gave the 2nd star.

Have traveled the US extensively, and have seen this chain, but never visited until last night. We had an amazing dinner. Staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean and efficiently run. Tables were turned over almost immediately when parties were done eating.Lots of space between tables so no over-crowding with nearby tables. Also, they don't cram too many people at a table, which earns an extra plus! Servers and Chef were pleasant and helpful. Food was outstanding. Compared to a local favorite chain here in Fla, and my hometown favorite Kabuki's in Va, Benihana ranked as my new favorite .

My wife and I are from are from the Isle of Palms area of south Carolina, so we are use to the touristy hibachi restaurants. We have a hibachi restaurant near where we live now, but we were looking for a different experience, so we went here. Poor choice, the chef cooked the food very well, but was very underwhelming. No personality, but the real problem was the waitress, "Blake" at first I was hoping she was going to be great. Hopes were soon diminished when the first appetizer never shows up along with soups and salads for the other appetizer, then when ordering our entrees "Blake" gave us the option of what style of rice we wanted, i had made the comment that i had never had that option, it was always fried on the grill. So we ordered fried rice, when we recieved the bill, we were charged $5.20 for shrimp fried rice and $4.80 for chicken fried rice, when I asked the waitress about the rice, she informed me that our choices were ala cart and that we should've stayed with the steamed rice to avoid the upcharge. So i replied, you could've informed me of that, after ordering the most expensive entrees on the menu. I'm not a cheap person, but i pay for the experience, i feel like i was short changed to say the least. I WILL NEVER HAVE A Benihana EXPERIENCE AGAIN. Hope this review enlightens anyone thinking about the "famous" Benihana experience, it will be a disappointing choice.

I moved back to Indy between 1993 and there are so many Hibachi reastaurants especially Fujiama's, Sappora's, and another one out west, that Benihana's just eluded me. My kids loved it here but no one wants to sit for over an hour without food then when you get it everything tastes like shrimp. Food was bad at best and way over priced. Staff was ok but uninterested in taking care of the guest. The gimmick of cooking the food at the table is great when it's right but benihana has been left in the dust by its competitors and feels old and dated. Would not return.

Fantastic experience! Anne was our chef tonight and the food was delicious! We arrived in time for happy hour and enjoyed a drink and a fantastic meal with our friends. We have been to other restaurants similar to Benihana, so we kind of knew what to expect with the hibachi style meal preparation. Benihana did not disappoint - I have to say the food here was really, really good. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. I’d definitely be a return customer.

The first time I was here, I felt like this restaurant was one of the unique restaurants in USA but the second time changed my opinion completely. So, this place is famous for its fun, unique style of live counter cooking but then comes the downside: 1. The place is overcrowded (No place to even walk without getting close to another person) 2. The food didn't taste that good. The cook at the live counter was in a hurry to serve all 8 people at the table that the taste suffered badly 3. We had ordered tofu soup because we don't eat meat (rather than onion soup which contains meat), yet we were served onion soup. 4. We ordered lemonade with no sugar but were served with double sugar So, this place has a thumbs down from me!

It was a waste of food that I did not bother to eat. A different waitress (let's call her waitress B,) that randomly came by, checked on us and asked how our food was. Wish I had know her name, because she was more attentive and caring about why didn't we touch the other food. Then waitress A came as we asked for our check. No tip for waitress A for poor service. Just cause you had a long day working, doesnt mean you put that on to others. Anyways I like said, I feel cheated about the menu names without description or pictures. Some sushi came as to what the name was. But the others were not. If you're NOT going to put seaweed on the sushi, please do clarify it on the menu or at least put pictures so that we can know how it'll look like. Another wasted food that we didn't touch since most of the sushi were the same being fried and wrapped in non seaweed wraps. I'm also surprised that we got charge for their kitchen service? That's pretty BS. Why? Because this is the ONLY place that charges you for their kitchen service for making sushi. Which is ridiculous! Their rolls was not that great. And they took FOREVER. I've been to many restaurants that can roll sushi faster then these guys and they don't get tip automatically. First time experience. And this will be the last time as well. Never going back.

I went for a special birthday celebration. The food was very good, but we had a few challenges. Our big punchbowl drink came in a very dirty huge glass. The waiter looked at it and asked if we wanted him to take it back? YES this is gross. Then the manager comes out and rubs the glass with her hand to see if the dirt came off!!! We were appalled. We were celebrating and even though I let them know it did not feel like a celebration. The food was tasty, but we were not satisfied with the level of service.

It’s unfortunate that this is the closet location to me because I really enjoy the food but the service is terrible. More than a handful of times I’ve had really bad service but today topped them all. Sat down at the bar, ordered my food, and didn’t get my food for over an hour. The bartender was very apologetic. I get it. It wasn’t his fault but I work in the industry and if I were in the same situation I would have gotten my manager involved. After I finally received my food I had to leave so I asked for my check and a box... which took another 20 minutes. I did expect a small refund which is what I give my customers in the same situation that I was put in today. Nope. I was charged full price. Would have been nice due to the trouble it took to get food. And to pay for it.

Had a 6:30 reservation, arrived promptly and still had to wait for 15 minutes... why do we have a reservation if we still have to wait? The chef was very friendly, but the “show” was lackluster. Several of us ordered expensive drinks that were alright, but not worth the high price. Food was also decent, but definitely not worth it for the high prices either. Fried rice was a $4 upcharge on top of the expensive base price. Go someplace else that is more worth the money. This place is premium prices for an average experience.

Expect long wait times even with many open tables inside. Once that's over, the food is quite fantastic. They make a killer exotic mojido - basically liquid sex. In the six course meal, we got Land and Sea, filet mignon and scallops. Onion soup was great, salad was perfect and not overseasoned. Gyoza appetizer 9/10. Filet mignon was nice and tender, scallops were cooked decently, and their rainbow sherbet ice cream tasted homemade. Very great meal all around.

I would consider myself a Benihana connoisseur. I have been to other Benihana’s in the United States and the food was wonderful. This location at the Mall of America is the worst I have ever experienced. Service was not bad, restaurant was clean but the food tasted awful. Apparently they are so busy they pre make the rice and place in steamer which turns the rice to mush. My husband has a shrimp allergy and they put shrimp on his plate in his food. They took the food back to remake but what we discovered is that they put his food back on the grill to remove the taste of shrimp and put back on his plate. I only know this because he had an allergic reaction. I asked for fresh rice as mine was cold and appeared to be a day or two old. They remade the rice with from the steamer and skipped ingredients to expedite. Worst tasting meal I have ever had. Don’t go to this location you will regret it. I know what your thinking”maybe it was an off day” nope my relatives and friends experienced the same. I did not take their warning seriously and paid the price. No discount for disgusting mean that I never ate.

This rating is only for the dining without the experience! We sat at the bar and ordered from the hibachi menu, and honestly, for the price I was not impressed. The food is decent, I feel like the only reason Benihana is so expensive is because of the experience and not the food. Even though it was definitely not bad food I just wasn’t satisfied, mainly due to the price. Also the servers I guess, aren’t too worried about the people that are sitting outside of the hibachi show and it took forever to get waited on. Really don’t think I’ll be going back unless I decide to sit in on the show.

This was an interesting experience. The host was nice, and took out name for seating during the lunch hour on a Friday. We were seated about 15 minutes after speaking with the host. We were seated with two other parties. While waiting for a chef, we notice a stench from the carpet smelling of mild mold and filth. The dining area was sticky, also. We decided to leave and we were given salutations by the staff. During our exit, we noticed smudges and finger prints all over the glass doors. The staff was friendly, but the place was not clean enough to dine.

I ordered the teriyaki chicken hibachi entree, and everything that came first was great. However, my chicken was very over cooked, it was very dry and some parts were crispy, it took forever to chew, and didn't taste very good. At this price point i wasn't expecting the best Japanese food ever, but what i really wasn't expecting was for it to be worse than a cheap, sketchy, college town Japanese restaurant. To top it off, most of the floor in the bathroom was covered with dried urine, the kind that sticks to your shoe every step you take.

Even though we had a reservation, we still waited 30 minutes to be seated and then another 50 minutes to be served. Although ice cream or sherbet was to be served with the meal, we were not offered dessert. When we inquired, they did not have sherbert available. Our chef for the evening was excellent and our steak was delicious.

Where do I start now.. I waited an hour and 15 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. After being seated, service was super slow again. The chef's performance was great and that's what your expectation should be if you decide to dine here. The food wasn't anything above you would eat at any other Japanese place in terms of taste. Maybe the meats were of better quality. Would I go again or recommend to anyone? Maybe not .. especially not on weekends or Friday nights. You guys need to figure out a better reservation and seating system. Maybe take a fixed number of reservations based on the number of tables you turn every hour. Staff and servers were super nice and great people.

If seated in the traditional setting, be prepared for a slow and leisurely meal. If you prefer not to have the meal spaced out quite as much, you can get everything off the menu on the other side of the restaurant. It's just made and prepared for you like a traditional restaurant, not Hibachi style. Still very fresh and tasty though. Great staff, very friendly.

Came in to enjoy my "Chef's Table" birthday coupon at the Mall of America. We decided to sit at the bar and very glad we did! It was a random Tuesday night out on one of the coldest days of the year, so we didn't expect such nop notch service but the bartender was excellent!! He was super on top of not only serving us our (6-course) meal but clearly doing his job making all the drinks for the fairly busy restaurant all while engaging us in conversation and making dinner even more enjoyable. In the late '90s we came to Benihana for all of our special occasions. Many years passed and we came back a couple years ago and the experience was not near as good. Since they have a great Sunday lunch special we decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, it was still disappointing. The chefs do not seem as well trained like in the past. The filet mignon I ordered medium ended up being well done. I will go to other hibachi grills in the future The staff themselves are very nice, just the quality of food was mediocre.

Called for reservations ahead of time and still didn't get seated at that time. Didn't get the rice that came with meal, when asked about it and they asked if I wanted to go, they forgot. Ordered through Post Mates- honestly it was good, but the portion size for the price was irritating. Ordered spicy tuna roll- only 4 pieces. A sample set- 5 pieces. Dumplings- 6 pieces. This is all fine, but it was $27, not including the delivery fee!!

Dissapointed. Not as good as last year. Chef did not have any character or even talk to us. Didn't do the tricks when cooking. Drinks weren't refilled. Took a long time to get waitress attention to get a refill. Had water poured into glass of Sierra mist!!

Had a reservation at 7:15pm, our whole party wasn’t there so they set it back until 9 which is fine. But at 8 the manager stated we would not be eating there. With no warning. Twelve people spending money at the bar on food and drinks waiting for our table. “The manager” was rude, unprofessional, and doesn’t know customer service at all. We asked why we were not getting a table and she was rude and hid behind an employee. Couldn’t give us a reason. As the manager of a business I would not recommend this place nor would I tolerate the way she treated the group we had brought in. Very unprofessional!

While the staff was friendly, the food was mediocre - even the sauce was bland! The drink my friend ordered was so-so, and was skimpy on alcohol. The steak hibachi tasted like salt and seasoning was non-existent in the kitchen.
