I, myself, am not a big fan of Mexican but my wife loves it so we tried this place. First of all, it was easy for me to find something delicious despite not loving Mexican. Secondly, our waitress was amazing. The table next to us had an obnoxious couple that was putting her through the ringer. Despite this, she kept her cool, was completely pleasant and kind to them AND she remained attentive, friendly and patient with all of the rest of her tables. She was a real professional. I recommend this place for the good food but also for the great service. If I had to mention one small flaw, it is that the girls at the hostess desk seemed more interested in chatting with each other than in acknowledging customers. This was a little annoying but not enough to put me off to this place. The waitress more than made up for it. Check it out, especially if you like Mexican.

I rarely give 5 stars but this place deserves it. Our server was terrific and made us feel welcome but not in a superficial way. She really seemed to enjoy her job and she did it well. The food was great and my whole family like their meals. Thank you for a great time.

Hostess was awesome. Server was adequate. However, we spent $10 so we could each "spin the wheel" in the front of the restaurant and recieved a coupon for a free entree and one for a free appetizer. The coupons say valid as soon as signed and dated. Valid for a year. Doesn't say anything about the ability to combine coupons. When it came time to pay we presented our coupons and were told they weren't valid the same day received. Server also admitted it doesn't say so on the card but that's how it is. I find it hard to believe we were the first to come across this issue and weren't told upfront. Bad customer service. Won't return.

Abuelo's is a fantastic Mexican restaurant. I personally really enjoy their chicken fajitas, queso, and most of all their salsa. Each table is given a mild, lime, and hot salsa with always fresh and hot tortilla chips for dipping. They also have a bar which offers many different Mexican beers and margaritas. Each time I go in they seem to have new and unique drink specials that are very good. The prices are on the higher side, but very much worth it for the quality and amount of food and drinks you receive.

This is our very favorite restaurant to visit. We are here at least 3 times a month. We have our favorite meals and are often able to get our favorite waitress. She knows exactly what we want usually. Great food! All the staff, including the managers are very nice. The only drawback with the restaurant is the restroom - wish they'd do a little freshening or renovating it.

First visit here. The food here was amazing. No one in our group had anything bad or disappointing or any kind of negative thing at all about any of the dishes we ordered. Definitely going to try to come here again. Our server John was a delight.

my sister, brother, & i called in order. we were not told that the items we were ordering had been changed on the new menu. when we got the food home was when we noticed the problem. supervisor refused a refund, saying against company policy. besides all that, the food was cold when management contacted me they were apologetic, & said people "would be retrained". they also sent vouchers. but it's all too little, too late. my sister died in the meantime. & my brother is back in texas, whete he can get REAL mexican food, or tex-mex, that's better than abuelo's re-creations!

This was one of those unplanned lunches while we were out and about. My wife has an odd diet at the moment due to a surgery coming up soon. She could not eat tomatos or garlic. Pretty hard to do in a Mexican Restaurant. But, Bickford was happy to help and even the chef came out to talk about options. Very impressive. The food came out quickly and even the special dish was just as amazing as mine. This is really a special place with great service and very good food. Thanks!

Great food. Great service. Sometimes people with kids who should be caged come in, but the wait staff will move you if they work your nerves. If you see any large groups come in -- like 15 or more -- then expect the kitchen to slow down. Order more drinks, or go elsewhere. But when they're on target, the place is a good place to go. Moderate prices. Friendly wait staff. Good food. What else you need?

I usually do not comment on my experiences in restaurants, unless they are extremely negative. However this time I have to admit that this restaurant ‘almost’ exceeded my expectations. I’m very picky, when is about restaurants, I’m Mexican and of course when is about food I’m pickier. I was a little hesitant with this place, I’m used to go to Mexican restaurants and I thought it will be more of the same. But since we arrived the ambiance, decor and the beautiful hacienda style got my attention. The 3 different salsas are a gem. The menu; while keeping its Mexican essence, it’s different in many ways, too much to choose not just the traditional tacos, burritos, tortas & enchiladas from other places, but it’s more rich and fashionable, as the place itself. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the margaritas, they were tasteless, kind of unsweetened and we couldn’t taste any tequila flavor on them, it was like we were drinking lemonade and yeah kind of expensive, for that price they should be superior. Anyway the waiter was so nice and he did an exceptional service, didn’t get his name but it was a Mexican man. Kudos for him. We were there Saturday afternoon/evening. I will be back of course and definitely will recommend this place.

I was here for a birthday party in a private room. The fajita buffet was a nice selection of meat and fixings, although I wish they had been willing to provide corn tortillas for a few of us in the group who are allergic to wheat. (I even offered to pay for them separately. ) Everything was kept hot, and the chicken and steak were very moist and flavorful. The shrimp were absolutely fantastic! The sauce on them was slightly sweet, slightly smoky, but not spicy. I took off a star for 2 reasons. 1, because they said they would keep putting food out when things got empty, but they didn't. We had to find the server to ask her for it, then wait while they made more food. 2, because the service was not the greatest. She was very nice and tried to be helpful. But she couldn't even tell different sodas and iced teas apart when they were on her tray, so we all kept getting the wrong beverages, and she had to be asked more than once to bring the coffee pots for warmups and refills. She didn't even offer a knife to cut the birthday cake, we had to ask for one. And dirty buffet plates and empty glasses were not cleared away until we left, they just stayed piled up on the tables. I would definitely come back to try their regular menu, but with a different server.

Abuelo's is a nice restaurant! The service was good. The food was tasty and the portions are decent. Great salsa and the jalepeno popper cheese curds, are so delicious! They come with some kind of ranch dip and it was absolutely delicious! Prices are moderate. You can feed 2-3 people from one of their large platters for around $18.

We have never had a bad experience here. Food comes fairly quick and full plates. They also make an amazing flan and the caramel cheese cake is to die for. Highly recommend, and they are willing to accommodate on changes to menu items.

No Cilantro, what kind of Mexican Restaurant is this? That was my question last night when we ordered our food and they told me that they ran out of Cilantro. The food was great though and we had a good time. But if you want to call yourself a Mexican restaurant, make sure to have all the ingredients to prepare the food. Service was amazing! Ambience is also good. Prices are affordable and overall great experience. But where is my cilantro?

Drinks are very good as are chips and salsa. Menu is limited to heavy, sauce laden items that make it hard for a light water to choose, especially one who is Gf. I still go for the ease and atmosphere which is in my neighborhood. But a few changes are all is needed to make it more appealing to many of today's diners.

We got two appetizers. The jalapeno spheres and the flat stuff with the food in the middle. They also give you free chips with three different salsa. The red one is the best and the green is so so. I have eaten here a couple times before and the entrees are too much food for me to eat. So ordering just the appetiser was a really good fit for me.

Our first experience was absolutely wonderful! We had a very knowledgeable waiter the food was awesome! The music was a bit loud and not suitable for my taste it was more of a pop type Latino station. Our two subsequent visits were awful we requested not to be seated near the bar and ended up having to argue with hostess and waited a long time before anyone came to our table although the restaurant was not very full. I must give 4 stars though! Our first waiter and our first experience were that great!

A few classics but mostly modern recipes. Authentic inspired fusion. As fancy as Mexican gets without being fussy. Delicious the few times I've visited. Reminds me of home. Almost worth the 2 hour drive but if you are in the area this is a must for Mexican lovers. Not forgettable. My first 5 star rating out of 100 reviews.

Food was doused in some kind of cheese sauce, tortilla was papery and not consistent with traditional cooking. Carnitas were drained good and tasted great. Unhappy with the fact that my lettuce and tomatoes had to be put on the side rather than in that concoction. Margarita was sub par, rice n beans were ok at best. Sorry won't return but Francisco was attentive and mgr came over to ask us how it was

I've been to Abuelo's in Crestview mall twice. first time was packed during the middle of the lunch rush we were seated quick and was able to order quick and was out of there in less than a hour. it was great. second time today, Wendsday June 5th 3019, I was seated at 6:28 pm when not even a quarter of the tables were occupied. it took less than a minute to order drinks. after a moment we had our waters and I got my lemonade but it wasn't our waiters who devilered it was the bartender. But we were ready to order but it took 9 more minutes for the waiteress to come by so we can order our food and three more minutes after that for my mom to get her margarita due to no actual bartender as the bartender was acting as a waitress as well. it's currently thunderstorming and all the staff are watching the weather overall not impressed I am never going back to this location and still waiting for food. food just arrived, I said no beans but they gave me beans and the (though I let my food cool for a moment it's a habit) food was cold and the waitress asked if everything was okay while is was in mid bite and didn't wait for me to answer and accepted my moms response took ten minutes and another waiteress later to inform our waiteress

To start the drinks are the star of this restaurant. The service was on point. So why am I giving it only 3 stars, the food. I can sum this up by saying my wife compared the enchiladas to that of a "TV dinner" she once had as a child. That and the lack of flavor, or over use of.

The portions were huge, and the quality was very good. But the reason for 5 stars is our server. Unfortunately I don't remember her name, but she greeted us at the door with a warm smile and was very welcoming. I was pleased that she was our server, as she was extremely helpful in explaining the menu, and stayed in touch just the right amount of time. She knew how to talk to people, made eye contact, was just all around pleasant.

I have been there a few times, I told the manager to please get the fake palms cleaned or I will let the public know. I went in there today 12/28/18 and guess what? the palm tree I complained about was cleaned but guess what? I now was sitting in a booth and jason to me was filthy. I will go back and sit at the bar and if I find the fake trees dirty again, I will write to corporate. How can a restaurant we the public trust with our gut can not understand how important it is for us to trust what we breathe in...I am a guru on reviews, we the people need to know. NEXT will be the food administration. I do give chances to owners that might not know what is going on. THE food is good, BUT, what I breathe in is equally important...

The drinks were mediocre. They take like a fruit juice more than an adult beverage. The food was lacking flavor and there was a was access water on the bottom of my plate for some unknown reason. This is a chain restaurant I will not be back to. For the price you pay, I had much higher expectations.

For chainy Mexican food, it was definitely good, but Kasey, our server, was top notch which put our dining experience over the top. They have an extensive menu that covers every price point and both large and small appetites. They have a large bar area and a fairly large indoor area. They also have a covered patio for outdoor dining. We sat outside and it was really nice. Abuelos is at Crestview Hills Town Center which is an outdoor mall. Abuelos has desserts, but there is also a Cold Stone Creamery a few doors down. It was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised.

Best Mexican. Hands down. We drive 45 minutes once a month for our fix. Enchiladas, tamales, bacon-covered shrimp, spicy queso, the BEST salsa. I have never had a bad meal here. Ever. Mike Codner the proprietor is a service guru and genuinely awesome person. Christina at the bar is a workhorse with a servant heart. The staff and their level of service coupled with fantastic food exponentially heightens the Abuelo's experience.

Visited Abuelos early Sunday evening. It was my 1st time, but my daughter had been there before. Restaurant itself was great (decor). Took long time to get everything (drinks, chips, food, etc.) and it restaurant was not busy at all. Thought food was way overpriced and not that good. I could have gotten the same thing at Cancun Mexican Restaurant 3 miles away off Buttermilk Pk and it would have tasted better, been a lot quicker, and a lot cheaper. I will go there next time.

Since the Mason, Ohio Abuelo's closed down, we drove over 45 minutes to visit the Crestview Hills, Kentucky location. The food was great as always but the service was a bit slow and we didn't see our server much. We think she was concentrating more on her tables at the other side of the restaurant.

My husband and I were visiting from out of state and had a hankering for some Mexican fare and found this place off of the highway. The food was fantastic! The variety of options was great. I loved the Chef recommendations because being someone who had not eaten there I was looking for a sure thing when it came to eating something good. The margaritas were awesome and our server Francisco was attentive and gave us awesome lunch recommendations. We will certainly be back on our next trip to Indiana.

Abuelos is moderate chain for a good southwest/Mexican plate. The service is usually well kept up with good pace no matter how many people are there. Also, the portion sizes are incredibly large so do with that what you will. You certainly will get the bang for you buck. The menu is vast as well so not a bad place for some decent tacos or a nice salad depending on how you're feeling. Not a thrilling and authentic family place, but well worth while for a moderate meal.

The food is outstanding tex-mex with large portions. Service at our location is always speedy and friendly. Complimentary chips and salsas are great. They bring out regular salsa, pineapple salsa, and barbeque salsa...all of them were excellent! I had the pork tenderloin medallion with 2 enchiladas of my choice dinner. I chose shredded beef and chicken enchiladas. It came with papa's and brown beans. Took home almost half of it and I'm a big eater. Wife had chicken fajita salad and was very happy. We eat there about once a month and always enjoy it but I've never reviewed the place....way overdue....can't brag enough about it. Make the time to go to this place, you won't regret it.

One of my favorite restaurants (60 minute drive). From the start, the chips are warm and crispy (order the queso - well worth it!). Enchiladas are filled nicely and covered with delicious sauces. Sea bass tacos were much more flavorful than the usual white fish. Even if you're not a fan of cilantro, try the lime-cilantro sauce; the citrus flavor was great with the fish and cilantro took the back seat.

This place is so amazing! I was crushed when they closed they Lexington Kentucky location. Anytime I am in Northern Kentucky, I stop here to eat. My opinion, it has the best Mexican food anywhere around. The bacon wrapped shrimp fajitas are the best thing on the menu. It is enough for two people. I love the very thin tortilla chips. The salsa is great. You can eat a ton of chips and not feel too full. Even when I'm doing a no carb diet, I will cheat with these chips because they are so thin and light. Every time we have been here at the staff has been amazing. My most recent trip on April 16th, 2019, there was a waitress at the bar who was loudly complaining about where people were sitting and whether or not they were sitting at the bar. Something about she's the only one who kept seeding people wherever wherever wherever. I meant to get her name because I thought she was very unprofessional. But that is the one and only time we have noticed anything negative. I have never had any other complaint in probably 100 trips there.

We went there and the hostes he told us that they have Happy hour. We had a beared guy not trimmed as a server. This is a restaurant and he is manipulating my food. We were wonder how many times his long facial hair touched my food before we got it on our table. He has the right to have his beard but trimmed. He looks like a dirty Viking. I don't have an Abuelo's near my home, so when ever I get to visit one it's always a treat. The service here was fantastic!

DO NOT get a frozen Margarita it is HORRIBLE!!! It is a pre-mix and way too sweet...then the server makes you feel really badly when you tell him. He says well the frozen is a pre-made, and I guess we are to know this in a Mexican restaurant. Then they offer to take off the bill. But the food is amazing. We used to go in there all the time but service became care-less. I will tell you if they were better to the customer we would go more. But to serve me garbage and not take it off.....that's why we go to On The Border.

Food is undeniably superior. If you are patient and willing to wait for every request you make and can overlook the undeniably inferior service, the food is worth it. The waiter seemed to purposely ignore our table, walking by several times when chips and drinks needed to be refreshed. I would recommend to management they re-train the wait staff to be more alert and attentive. I left a good tip regardless, because I plan to return because the food is so awesome.

I’m so glad that Abuelo’s has made its way to Central Florida. Having partially grown up in Amarillo, Texas, it’s nice to know that there’s some true Tex Mex in Florida now. From the start to finish, I had a truly amazing experience. The hostess was very friendly, asking if it was my first time to the restaurant. I explained that I had been to the original in Amarillo many times but didn’t know that this one was here. My waiter was great as well, demonstrating great service constantly throughout my visit. Within minutes of sitting down, I was greeted by the manager who (again) asked if it was my first time. I told him the same story that I had to the waitress and he gave me a card for a free appetizer the next time I visit. I ordered the lunch quesadillas, which as phenomenal as always. They start you off with chips and three different types of salsa: regular, salsa verde, and hot. All three are exceptional and it’s obvious that the recipes from Amarillo have made their way to Florida. The quesadillas feature cheese on the outside of the tortilla instead of the inside, which is both different and tasty at the same time. They’re topped with scallions and tomatoes for the finishing touch. The rice and beans were great as always - proving that some restaurants in Florida can actually cook these correctly. I wish I lived closer to this place because I would be here weekly. Thank your for such great food and service.
