You know that we do not usually stop to put evaluations when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Steak house.
The food is out standing! The place is divided into 2 sections. One part is a beautiful quiet restaurant and the other part is the bar area. I have dined in both parts and loved each side. Definitely a must try
Salmon wrapped in prosciutto was a bit dry but had some nice flavor. One of the best gin and tonics I've ever had at a bar, though, so it all balanced.
Irritated. Food was great, as always, however while WE were WAITING for our server to take our payment, guests actually stood by our table and sat down, while we were still sitting there. The hostess was WITH THEM. And allowed this. Treated us like it was OUR fault that we were just sitting there, taking up the table. We had to wait another 10 minutes for our check to be picked up, with strangers sitting at our damn table. My night took a turn, for sure. I should have said something to Paul, but I was too uncomfortable. I was there Saturday night, may 14.
Quick service
Decent but pricey.
Food was good, service could be better
Great spot to hop into and meet up with friends. Staff is really friendly and they're always available to chit-chat about what's going on in the area. Drinks are very fairly priced and the food is excellent. I highly recommend this location for the food the drink and the atmosphere.
Food is very good. Creative mixed drink selection. Not a good draft beer bar. A little pricey. Service is great and casual.
Great place to socialize after work.
Delish quick time from placing ur order to receiving ur food. And it was worth the wait!
Enjoyed the outdoor seating. The service was excellent. Truly enjoyed the tuna jerk sandwich. Amazing.
If I could give a negative number that would be generous. The bartender that was our server for starts was visibility drunk. He took our order not writing it down only to return 5 minutes later because he forgot it. Food came out in waves and we were missing our sandwich. Keep in mind we only ordered 2 appetizers and 2 sandwiches. He was so drunk he was sluring his words. Also he did not try to hide the fact that he was pouring himself and other workers shots of grand Marnier. Terrible I'll tell you. Waste of $50.
Was greeted & accomodated immediately. The drinks were great!
Michael was an extremely knowledgeable waiter and personable. Steak tender even when well done. Excellent Kennett Square mushrooms from nearby.
The best food in Armagh. Staff very nice. Thanks
Good cocktails. Bands are fun.
Great staff & food!
Great menu with many options no matter your parties dietary restrictions.
What a joke!!! Graham, the server, after numerous mistakes call me a jerk. Under his Loud Breath!! PAUL the great maître when I asked what happen to our sides dishes remarked "Your problem not mine". My question I'm a great tipper but when confronted with such poor service what are you supposed to do? The food was good but won't go back till Butler gets rid of these buffoons and hire quality personnel
Love coming here!! Whether it's for happy hour or a nice night out to eat, Tonic wins all the way around. The drinks are fantastic and the half chicken with risotto is my absolute favorite! Such a great atmosphere with attentive service that makes you feel like you are the most important person in the restaurant.
Consistent good service. Have lunch there seafood salad is my favorite
Great service, great food, great time with friends.
Great menu. Service and food were excellent.
Beautiful atmosphere, lovely staff, great food and drinks.....you can't go wrong when you go to tonic!
Good food, nice staff
Very good appetizers loved it for my first time i will be going back
A nicer, cleaner alternative to the Chelsea. When in town for a show or concert, skip the greasy fare at the Chelsea and opt for a more friendly and accommodating Tonic. The food was excellent and bartenders knowledgeable. Would dine again.
Good place for team builder or net working
Perfect place for a work happy hour.
The food wasn't all that good and was REALY expensive. 6 oysters cost $22.00.... Diner with just 2 drinks cost over $100.
Crowed...but they have good live bands.
Good food for the price. I like the BBQ ribs the best. The margarita was good too.
Good services!!! food quality was very good. Efficient and friendly staff. calm atmosphere.
I went to this place with my friends to celebrate one of my friend's birthday. This place serves the tastiest food. We really enjoyed a lot as this place has its own unique vibe. Like Share
A go-to since I work on delaware Avenue. Great atmosphere but a little pricey.
Staff was great, so was food!
Out standing service.make you feel at home
Good food in a laid back environment
The food was okay. Looking at the menu a was expecting a little more in the flavor department, but honestly is was just okay. I was a little irritated when I was given a menu that had a pork belly sandwich on it (that I excitedly ordered) only to be told they don't serve that anymore and hadn't for quite some time.
We went twice as it was wallking distance from the Marriott Foggy Bottom. We really enjoyed everything about this place. Ambiance, food, service and decor. We definitely recommend this place.
I hosted a rehearsal dinner at Tonic last week. The wedding was at the Hotel DuPont, virtually across the street, so it could not have been more convenient for us. Tonic's special event coordinator, Michelle, was great to work with and Alex and Steph, who were working that night, were extremely attentive to all our wants and needs. The space is sleekly elegant and the food was delicious. The bridal couple was vegan, so we appreciated the special menu Tonic worked up for us (their Impossible Meatloaf is not to be believed!)
Great place to have amazing booze and enjoy delicious food. Staff is nice and i would love to recommend this restaurant!!
Good service the first night, even better service last night. Atmosphere was great, great drink selection, however the food left something to be desired. Both nights food was over cooked, burger didnt have a freshest taste to it and the steak the 2nd night wasnt even close to worthy of the price. A good steak should stand on its own. I'm also pretty sure the loaded potato was microwaved as it was 10x hotter than anything else on the plate.
I loved the food here. So did my significant other. We're definitely going to return. Impossible Burger and meatloaf are in the house. The atmosphere is a pleasant upscale corporate trendy vibe. Great tunes. If I worked close by, I'd definitely be stopping by for drinks after a good day. And let's not forget the chicken wings. Be warned, these are the most expensive wings I've got here in the greater Philadelphia region but they are totally worth it. IMHO, perfection. I love me some wings and these wings are easy to love.
I'm not impressed. They changed the spacial menu and only let us know after we sat. Not even putting a sign out front so we know in advance. The waitresses are nice but the guy waiter was rude and unpleasant. Avoid if you have other options
Crab Cake Sandwich delicately prepared to perfection. Great place for lunch.
Great place.
All way's pleased
Great place Awesome appetizer
Stopped in for lunch after my son's graduation. Nice place, great ambiance, pleasant staff. We all had a Texas style burger that was out of this world. Definitely recommend this place.
Good food and nice atmosphere. Wish they had a better selection hard cider, though.
Good place
The steak melted in your mouth.
I've been to Tonic for dinner and the food was fantastic, but this time my wife and I were there for a class on making/decorating chocolate Easter eggs. I can't say I have a lot of decorating talent, but even so we had a lot of fun and the pastry chef teaching our class did a wonderful job.
Food is pretty good, but not the most comfortable place.
Great food and service
Went here during the Wilmington restaurant week. They had a live band on one side of the restaurant and regular seating on the other side. I like the separation. The ambiance was very nice, very nice and calm decor. The staff was very pleasant and responsive. I ordered an off the menu drink and it was made exactly as per my instructions. We ordered from the "limited" restaurant week's menu and had cornmeal hush puppies, Smoked salmon mouse profiteroles, chicken roulade, Tenderloin and Goat cheese en croute roulade. Every item was well made. The hush puppies were like none that I've had. My overall experience here was positive. I will definitely be back here.
Quality food. A little overpriced
Food is very good. Sevice can be hit or miss.
Service very slow
The food there is subpar. The head chef Pat is the most rude selfish will get pissed off if you want to make a substitute any of your dishes and will catch an attitude with his hold staff about it
Nice place ok service. Very pricey
Excellent restaurant. Fresh fish, good service, nice selection of drinks. You won't go wrong by going here.
Great food, great atmosphere.
good spot for dinner, menu is a little boring but the food is not bad at all. Happy hour on the other hand is a total miss for me. They didn’t have enough ppl scheduled had to wait forever for drinks and food and the food was nowhere near good. I would definitely pass for after work happy hour in the future but could certainly visit again for dinner
Our waiter was awesome. Super friendly and very hospitable/accommodating. My food was terrific but other people in my party didn't LOVE theirs.
Nice little local's hangout, decent beer selection and excellent Brussel sprouts...
Half priced burgers on Mondays are the best!
Great Bar type restaurant. Excellent ambiance and lovely food and drinks!!!
To if the line food and great service!!!
Tonic is probably my favorite restaurant in Wilmington. The service is wonderful, and the food is fantastic. It gets busy at lunchtime, but they offer a very quick turnaround. The goat cheese appetizer is amazing! We go here for happy hour with co-workers on occasion and its a great time.
A tad disappointed. Very pretty to look at but not much selection and not much flavor. Meatball appetizer wasn't too bad but the onion soup was extremely watery and so was my drink. I don't mind an expensive meal just want to feel like it was worth it and I can't say this place is.
House salad with steak was a good lunch.
Its easy to find. Just look for the flaming torches on the sidewalk. The food and service are excellent also.
The best pork chops around !
Good food and fast service. Healthy food. Good looking staff. Friendly atmosphere. Classy décor. Good date spot.
Food was outstanding
The food was good, but overpriced. Maybe it's me, but I feel appetizers should be less than half the price of the meal. Unless it's a sampler, but even then, should be less than a meal. Soup, again, should be about $7 or 8 for the more expensive ones. The soup's here are $10 and market price (which I assume is more than $10). My wife had a crab cake, which was good (although I had a shell in the one bite I had and I absolutely hate when I get a shell). She didn't get any shells in the rest of it. I had the shrimp salad sandwich. Again, the taste was good, but based on the size and the ingredients, I'd say it should have been about 60% of its price. If you don't mind paying $11-15 for a sandwich, then this place is fine.
Great place. Good food good drinks excellent bartenders. Best place I have been in Wilmington
They did not bother me with service, but was always there when I needed, or just before.
We had a great experience! We shared some wonderful appetizers tuna tartare, eggplant, acorn squash and lamb. I also had very tasty sweet potato soup. Overall it was super satisfying and exceeded our expectations. We definitely be returning more often. Cheers!!!
My wife and I enjoyed a very nice dinner there for her birthday. We were lucky enough to stumble in on "date night" and were given a complimentary app and dessert. Our server was great, the food was excellent. I have already recommended several others to go.
Average. Nothing impressive. Food was bland. Service was good.
Cool place, great food, a little pricey. Glad my boss was paying
Great meal, nice atmosphere
Entire dinner was perfect, food, service, and drinks.
Food and service are excellent
Good service Great food
The place is pretty, service good, food is really good but very over priced.
Steak and fries and added a crab cake. Delish
ate there before a show at the playhouse. Food was over an hour getting to our table. Only excuses were offered by the waitress. No compensation. Made us late for the show. Will never return.
I went to Tonic for the first and last time. They didnt even know how to make a basic margarita but that was not all. I ordered New York strip steak. It was easily the worst steak I have ever had at a restaurant. It came dumped in the middle of mashex potatoes. No option of a vegetable. It was twice the price of an Outback steak. It was tough and dry. All for $43.99! Dont go near this place. No wonder it was nearly empty.
If you go see the bartender, Zak. He is phenomenal and super attentive. Food is mediocre, but the drinks are the best. I have to say service by bartenders definitely boost this rating a ton because without them it would probably be a 2 star. Just saying.
Brandy is a wonderful bartender, great food, good drinks, great atmosphere.
Great food and nice atmosphere! Good place to go for a nice dinner
Stopped at Tonic before show @The Playhouse. Mushroom soup excellent, loved the brussel sprouts . Waitress was awesome....very accomodating.
Exciting/ fun
Nothing exceptional. OK beer list, but with Washington St Ale House so close by, it's the best option, with a far better kitchen.
Food and atmosphere is good. Service is good too.
Good food, have been here 2 times, first was great, second could have had better service
Underwhelmed. Stopped here b4 movie at theater n. Service was erratic, told we could order from happy hour menu by 1st waiter who took 4ever to come over. 2nd waiter advised happy hour was over...yup thats how long it took to get served! Food was just okay
Overall a positive experience with this restaurant. They offer a few unique dishes and a range of beers/alcohol. It is open layer than many restaurants in the area which is a big plus for busisness travelers. They do have pretty good happy hour specials for those who can make the times work. They have bar seating, indoor seating, as well as outdoor seating. The service was as expected. Worth a visit for a dinner or late night dining experience.
Nice place, great staff, only issue was the parking garage attached to the building. Every time a car drove in the garage it sounded like the whole place was going to come down transferring that noise into my video audio at the banquet that was held.
New York strips was cooked well, and a nice texture you tend to only find real in steak houses. Service was a bit uncoordinated and clumsy. I would play the bar moving forward.
Amazing food, great wines, and love that they've added some great live music lately...
Amazing drinks and delicious food!! Staff were nice and i would love to recommend this place to everyone!!
Great bar and great food.
Delicious. Great service. Will return.
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere. Bit pricey but worth it.
Enjoyed the live music; great service!!
The most delicious crabcake sandwich I've ever eaten!! And yes, I have eaten plenty for comparison.
The food is great! A little pricey but not too bad. I had the wings which were cooked great, as well as the tonic burger which was huge and filled me up! And the fries are amazing, I will definitely reccomend to friends and be back!
OH MY GOODNESS! My meal was absolutely delicious! I got the Pan seared half chicken and It was mouth watering good! My husband and I came in before a show at the Playhouse and they were very busy, but very accommodating. Will definitely return!
Good beer selection good appetizer and place to hang for happy hour
Crab cakes over cooked. Waitress was very slow. All together food over priced
Had a very intersting experience...I'll just say dont order the shrimp cocktail.
Went here for a Friday night happy hour meet up with my cousin. The service was great! They have a great selection of happy hour appetizers at three price points. We had the salmon lettuce wraps, bacon wrapped beef tenderloin and the mozzarella toast, everything was very tasty. The atmosphere is great for the Friday night unwind from the work week.
Asked for burger med-rare, it was served well done. Roll was burned on edges. Despite this, burger very tasty, great fries and I will come back.
Above average burgers, great wait staff
Slow service ..
A bit pricey, but worth it
Food was yummy . Nice place . I ordered the vine and it taste is good . Great services . Staff were nice .
First time customer. Went there because it was Wilmington Restaurant Week. Spinach cranberry salad was perfection. Shrimp linguine was missing something.... a little salt and pepper would have made all the difference I discovered when I got it home. No salt & pepper on the tables.
I am gluten intolerant. I have eaten twice at the Tonic Bar with no issues and the best food I have had in a long time. That is saying more than you may know. A little pricey but worth it for the quality and atmosphere.
Enjoyed coffee and dessert. Nice atmosphere and excellent staff.
Great food in a friendly setting. The service is excellent - Brandy the bartender seems to know and remember everyone
Steak was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were probably the creamiest I've ever had. Monday nights you get a free surf with your turf (remind the waiter. Mine tried to charge me). I went with the crab cake. Not my favorite but it was good. I appreciate that it had little to no filler.
Great food and drinks. Excellent service.
In from out of town; very nice and attentive staff
Very nice food, but service could use a little tweaking. We went there specifically for the oysters but our server (although very friendly) was not knowledgeable about them before ordering and then served the plate without identifying what the different types we had selected were.
Love the open floor plan. Menu isn't too broad but the food was decent. Lots of drinks available.
Had a few drinks on the patio. Nice evening, good service and the cocktails were not bad.
Very good steaks and tasty cocktails.
Always delicious food!
Good
Pricey and not the best option in the area. Servers seems very busy but efficient.
Good evening
Went for a company dinner recently and the drinks and apps were great and we had 6 different apps and all were delicious. The entrees were good but not what I would call great or something to get excited over. I would definitely go again.
Tonic Bar and Grille - horrible service today with mediocre food. My burger was still moving on my plate with the stuff just thrown together. I can't tell you how many times server walked past me and TOTALLY IGNORED me! Took the owner to stop and even take my order. Walked in at 12:15 and I JUST got my lunch. This downtown Wilmington - most people don't have that long for a lunch break! I've been here before and has great service but today was the WORST! Do better!
This place has a comfortable Bistro atmosphere. It's not crowded in the evenings or weekends. It is more crowded for daytime lunches in the business district. The food and service were excellent and the location is actually pretty convenient.
Excellent choices, including a variety of vegetarian and vegan food. Fish came out undercooked, but was quickly and cheerfully remedied.
Great friendly service. Food is delicious beers are cold
Wow what a change from Deep Blue. It has a very modern feel to it. The food is to die for, the filet migon steak was delicious. Tonic has so many craft beer options both on draft and in a bottle. Great place to go and watch the games! I will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone in the area looking for some good food!
Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Wilmington Tonic is within a block of the Hotel Dupont and the Playhouse at Rodney Square. It has a quality American style menu. We have been happy with everything we have had there. The service has been good as well.
Loved the service, food was AMAZING they need more martinis but overall 10/5 the server was exceptional
We had a large party at lunch time. Service staff was very responsive and helpful. Menu was had many options for all the different food types (gluten free & vegetarian) food was very cooked to order and very delicious.
Great place for office parties
It's a neat place to hang out. Staff are all great, and the beer is solid
Ok....not great.
Great music and drinks
The food and service is excellent!
Great but limited menu.
Nice place to meet for drinks and conversation...
What a fantastic experience hosting a retirement party! The private room in the back was perfect and they did a great job setting up. A great combination of round tables for seating and bar tables for standing. The private bar is a nice touch. Very good appetizers and all reasonably priced. The private dining coordinator (Michelle) was fantastic! She knew exactly what to do and what I needed to host a party of 35. Highly recommend for hosting a private event!
We were there for a company Christmas party. Very nice place and the crab cakes were very good!!
Another winner from Dan Butler. More than just Steak House fare on the menu, but we went with steaks which were fabulous
Modern feel. Prime cuts of steak that give any steak house a run for its money. Great service. Friendly and local. Win win!
