Tenderbones food is amazing I have had their cheese steak,Fish,Fries and mac and cheese. The corn bread is the only thing that needs a little work but over all this mans food is wow just wow! The food is unlike anything I have ever had. The fish is my absolute favorite. He knows most of his customers and seems very friendly. I will always keep coming back! Best BBQ

Drove from Vineland,NJ Upon arrival we were informed they were sold out of ribs! Very disappointing! After reading most of the reviews I was looking forward to a similar experience! Unfortunately that was not my luck! Hopefully the manager is able to stock up on ribs so he/she may continue conducting business.

I love supporting locally owned businesses. Excellent Cheesesteak, I honestly couldn’t finish it. I had to wait one hour and 20 minutes to get our food. The wait, I didn’t mind because I live near by! The chef came out and introduced himself to everyone in the small lobby. Very kind person. My only issue was the receptionist/order taker. Light skin Aftican American women was unpleasant and abstinent. With this kind of attitude, she probably doesn’t belong in the front of the house. Please note I am a young black man. I say this with kindness. I would return to this restaurant for take out meals.

Best cheesesteak I've ever had! Definitely large enough for 2 people to share. Took a star away because the wait is absolutely ridiculous! 1.5-2 hrs for a cheesesteak is insane. Do not order in perosn. Next time, I will call ahead and hopefully have a better experience .

Well, after my first bad experience, I decided to give this place a 2nd chance. I called in to place my order. I ask for a cheesesteak with only mayonnaise. I was told by the person who answered the phone they cannot make it that way. I had to eat it with peppers, onions and whatever else it came with. Another hour+ trip wasted.

The food was ok, the ribs tasted like they were baked and then put on a indoor grill. The mac and cheese was a tad salty, and the dirty rice was just rice doused in bbq sauce with a smidgen of pork in it. The wait was entirely too long. We waited for over 45 min for our food. Maybe need more help.

2 hour wait for a 3lb nasty no flavor "cheesesteak".....it was mostly onion and peppers and tasted like a nasty sloppy Joe. If you have ever had a philly steak you will know this is not one. Such a major disappointment after all the hype!!!! 15 dollars for what? Avoid this place if you are looking for a good cheese steak!!!!

Dear Chef Bones, I have heard many great things, so I had to come and try your cheesesteak. I ordered right at opening at 11am and was told 12:30pm. WOW! This thing must be amazing. I got there at noon and stood right up front, asked the cashier if she had my order, she confirmed. People came in and got their food in waves, every 30 mins or so a new batch came out, and you'd sing them a tune. 1pm, 1:30pm, asked again do you have my order? I ordered 1 cheesesteak at 11am." Confirmed, another song, another batch comes out... nothing for me or the 3 other white guys that ordered at 11am. Finally, 2pm.... still nothing for Jeremy ph # ending in 1865. My first and last visit, you CANNOT have ANY respect for customers giving them a time, and then still not delivering 90 mins later while other customers come in and happily get their orders. It really made me question this establishment's intentions. I dont care what your food tastes like if you are going to show such a lack of respect for your consumers.

The food is awesome as always. The staff seems a little confused and not very eager to go the extra mile to make sure customers get in and out quickly. I called a head and still waited 30 mins. After waiting and hour before. If the service was as good as the food they would have a gold mine. The staff seems lazy.

Didn't live up to all the hype... disappointed with the famous steak sandwich, supposed to be 3 lbs (what a joke). Turns out half the sandwich was nothing but pepper... as to why I would change the name from steak to pepper sandwich! Aside from that, it was an hour waiting for the sandwich after a hour call in prior to arriving (not worth it). Would not recommend to family and/or friends... eat at your own risk!

I've been to tenderbones several times. The wait is very long. The food tasted good. My only problem with the Cheesesteak is there's no cheese. We had put in orders at 1 for 5 and didn't get them until 6:30. He needs to organize better so that you don't have to wait for hours for an order. I had the rib dinner one time. The ribs tasted great but a little on the fatty side. I would go back again, but order my food even earlier. The wait is just too long.

Excellent customer service! While we waited the owner blessed us with a sample of fish and pulled pork, finger licking good. The Ribs are "tender" , the chicken "juicy" and the side of mac & cheese is the best. We will be back to try the brisket, cheese steak and fish fresh special.

Me, Hubby, and 2 out of our 3 kids went. Got their cheesesteaks that were soo big, it stretched out for three days worth of meals! Lol. Could have ordered one and still had left overs! Got the Mac and cheese and oh my god!!! Also got the collie greens which in itself was a slam dunk. Corn bread was nice and buttery as well! Very much suggest this place! Will be going back again! I was on my way to a cross country meet at Lima Pond and needed to grab a bite to eat on the way, there it was Tender Bones. Stopped it and was glad I did, friendly service, good conversation, and great beef brisket! The owner, Chef Bones came out to make sure I really wanted the spicy bbq sauce on the brisket and as it turns out I didn’t! He gave me a good sample and it was indeed spicy and tasty, but a bit too much for my level. We chatted some more and the brisket came out hot and ready to go, large portion with plenty of sauce for $9, not bad. Then to top it all off, Chef Bones sings! I will be back and this time I’m getting the sides and dessert, greens and sweet potato pie or peach cobbler, come on!

After two full hours for waiting on 2 cheesesteaks, I still have yet to receive my food. Unless this Cheesesteak gives me God-like powers, I will not be back. I came here after a segment on the local news. A patron in that clip said, "Be prepared to wait." I figured 45 minutes at most. Over two hours has become 'cancellation of my order' territory. Update: Approaching hour number 3. Apparently there is only one cook here. Having invested so much of my day into this, I'm not sure how much longer I'm willing to wait. Had I known this was to be an all day affair, I would have eaten before I left home. Update: 3.5 hours later. After asking for a refund, we finally got our food. Will DEFINITELY update after trying it. Conclusion: Completely worth the price. After 3.5 hours I almost wanted this Cheesesteak to NOT be good. But when it comes to Cheesesteaks, I refuse to tell a lie. This sandwich is excellent. Not worth a 3.5 hour wait. Perhaps worth 1.5. My suggestion if you decide to patron this establishment is to call ahead. Like hours in advance.

I can’t speak highly enough about the food and the service. My co-workers and I have been talking about TenderBones Rib Shack for months. We were not disappointed. We set the order up for 1 pm pickup and at 1 pm everything was ready. I had the treat of absorbing all the fabulous smells riding back to work in my car. We had pulled chicken, rolls, baked beans, cornbread, macaroni and cheese and several ribs for 10 people. Everyone raved over the food. I ate so much I didn’t even have to eat dinner. We had plenty of leftovers as well for another spread the following day. As a side note while I was picking up our order another gentleman bought the steak sandwich and when I say it was huge. IT WAS “HUGE”!!! I can’t wait to get back and try the steak sandwich. If you are thinking about going to TenderBones Rib Shack just do it. You will not be disappointed.

Food is phenomenal. Guy in the back is very passionate about what he cooks and will talk to you about every cut of meat he gets his hands on. However, the customer service aspect is very lacking. It takes at least five calls before someone actually picks up the phone. Then you place your order and then thirty minutes later you still have to wait 10-25 minutes before you actually walk out of the door with order. The sodas I picked up were warm. Not coming back here.

I have been going there since they opened and I love this place. The staff there, everyone that I've met, are the friendliest group of people. Everyone there is so nice and helpful. My husband and I always call ahead for their cheeseburgers (best cheeseburger I've ever eaten)and for the price they can't be beat. I will never eat a burger anywhere else. I am not real adventurous when it comes to food so that's all I've tried so far but if everything is as good as their made to order burgers, you would be foolish to go anywhere else.

My food taste good on the other hand my husbands chicken was burnt, did not know it until we got home. They open at 11:00 and we got there at 11:10 first customers and we waited 40 mins. for our food. The owner is a very friendly person and very engaging with the customers.

Nice small restaurant. I had the cheesesteak & fried fish it was ok. It seemed like it was missing basic seasonings. I waited 2 hours and 30 minutes don’t think I’ll be going back. That wait was entirely too long. They didn’t have a restroom or a place for most of the customers that were standing around for hours to sit. Also think that the menu has too many choices on there. It doesn’t seem like the head cook can keep up with the very high demand. He should pick the most loved food choices by giving the customers a paper survey and that’s how he should decide what items to keep on the menu.

I am only writing for what I ate, other items may be different. I ordered a Cheese Steak,Mac and cheese and 1lb of Brisket. The brisket was very tender, but was over sauced, and the sauce was to sweet( I have a sweet tooth and if someone like me says its to sweet.... its to sweet). Next time I will order sauce on the side or none. The sauce over powered any flavor the meat had. Mac & Cheese was a bit better than most, but definitely not the best I have ever had. Will order this again. Cheese Steak. Was very good, probably one of the best I have had. The only problem I have with ordering this is the fact you get it the way they are cooking it that day. Not to much of a problem, except for the fact they had it the same 2 days in a row(Philly Special). Personally I love it, but my daughter whom I was sharing it with does not like peppers. She gave it a go, and did not like that she could still taste the peppers. And I know its a cost saving thing to use up all the peppers instead of letting them go bad. I also understand I will get it the way they wanna make it cause it is not even a menu item.... Also this is not fast food, but the time from ordering to getting the food was to long. Knowing this I will order in advanced. I will definitely eat here again and I will order other things to try, and update this if possible. Maybe they could add some smoked sausages.....

I really wanted to like this place. The ribs lacked any smoked taste and they definitely weren't tender. The only thing resembling flavor was the black char from being burnt and the bland sauce. Maybe I caught them on a bad night? Maybe I'll try again another night. If so, I will update my review.

Stopped in after finding this place on Google. We were in the area working and stopped on the way home. What we got blew away my expectation. We were looking for a quick bite but what we got was the best Mac n Cheese I have ever had, and a brisket sandwich that was absolutely spectacular! The quality of food was enough but the attention we got from the Owner was something that is missing from most places these days. He personally checked our order and gave his approval before handing it over the counter, offered a plate of burnt ends which were also phenomenal! and lastly he came over when we were finished and made sure we were satisfied and thanked us for coming in! Hats off to Tender Bones! Your food and service is Top Notch!

I hope this was just a fluke because we have bought probably 15-18 cheesesteaks ( we have a large family) and they have always been the best cheesesteaks we have ever had. We ordered 3 cheesesteaks on 10/12/19 and they were nothing like any of the previous ones. There was not near as much meat but loaded with peppers and onions. We were very disappointed. I'm sure we will try them again hoping that today was just an off day.

Mr “Bones” is a very nice gentleman, but he needs to look at his business and ways to operate in a better fashion. I have been there 3 times and I will NEVER go back. Yes he has good food but it is not worth a 2 HOUR wait!!!!!! Mr “Bones” wants to be the chef, entertainer, preacher and the face of his business. That is understandable but 1 person can not do all four. He should train and trust an employee to cook the food as he would so that he can be out front with the customers. Mr “Bones” states he does not and will never make fast food. He does not. The quality of his food is very good but the wait is too long. He can still make the beef for his cheese steaks and keep in it a warming station so that when customers come in the onions, mushrooms and peppers can be finished and the cheesesteak delivered in a short amount of time. When you go to a nice sit down restaurant you receive great food in an acceptable amount of time not 2 hours later. Mr “Bones” always presents his food to the customer before packaging. That is great to be so proud of your product. If I’ve seen it once, I do not need to see it again. I would like my food and leave. I’ve called to place my order so I do not have to wait so long. They still do not make your good until you are in the store!! Then why did I call ahead!???!! What is the point? It is great that this is Mr “Bones” second career. It is fantastic that he is rated #1 for his cheese steaks, has been on multiple news programs but he should look at his business plan. He has stated many times how he has been there since 4am cooking. He is going to where himself out and cause health issues. I wish him the best of luck, but I will not be back to his store.

You better call before you go. Very, very popular spot and Chef is extremely conscious of his customers. He comes out front to speak to you, gives you samples while you wait, and enjoys his job. The wait is long but well worth it. Just make sure you're not starving, claustrophobic, or have somewhere to be. We'll be back there soon.

Tenderbones was a great visit today. Me and the fam just had to try this. The reviews drill you in. The back roads at night are a bit creepy. But the location was nice & bright. I froze to death my entire wait. They hardly have seating, besides the long rectangular table in the corner that seats like a bar for 4. There lemonade & tea was beyond sweet. Too sweet for me. We had ribs, chicken, greens, mac and peach cobbler. The ribs were average to me. But I cant lie they were so tender. The macaroni & cheese was very tasty but full of nothing but cheese & no noodles. But the mac was still bomb! The greens were not so tasty. I was not a fan of the cornbread, very dry. Also the peach cobbler was nasty. Tasted ok but looks not appetizing. The peach cobbler was a big disappointment. It was no crust it was just a bunch of mush. We will try there fish on a Friday. The chicken tasted as if the grease was old. You can taste the old grease. Also it was multiple people in the kitchen just chilling. Very unprofessional. It was 11 degrees outside and 30 degrees in the restaurant. There was not a bathroom in sight. We traveled from Dover. We were not impressed but we are not pushed away. Looking forward to see what this jewel has in store.

I have been waiting months to try TenderBones. Everytime I have tried they've sold out. So I was excited when the stars aligned and I was able to get there today. I tired the shredded meat sandwich in pork with mild sauce. While I waited for my order about 15-20 minutes, I had a great food conversation with a few customers that were waiting. 15-20 minutes is a fair wait for fresh, good food. Great food is worth the wait!! Yes, it was worth it! The pork was so tender just soft and the barbeque sauce was tangy and not to sweet. It was that from scratch taste not processed in plant. The roll was soft and fluffy with that Italian bread flavor. This sandwich was scrumptious!! I will be back and I am taking the owners' advice to call my order in before the food sells out.

So I finally got the infamous 3lb cheesesteak... I have to say the meat was absolutely amazing however there has to be more thought put into the roll... My roll was completely soggy and not appealing at all...

I was really hoping this place was going to be great. I've been looking for a great smoked meats place since a favorite of mine had closed. Stopped in on my lunch break. Ordered a brisket sandwich and 2 ribs. Took 25 minutes to get it. I don't mind a wait,if I was told when I order it. When I asked what was taking so long, they said it was on the grill! Really?? This was at 1 o'clock. Prime lunch time. Brisket was overdone and ribs were underdone. Definitely not fall of the bone ribs. Be prepared to chew. Had a little smoke flavor. No rub on the ribs. Very disappointing. The chef seems nice though. Very friendly and energetic. Also,there was a cheese steak that everyone was ordering,but not on the menu? Weird. Why wouldn't you put your best item on the menu. Too confusing. Sadly, I don't think I'll be back.

Ugh. I expect the notoriety has affected quality now. My cheesesteak yesterday was well, disappointing. After calling ahead, given the standard hour and half wait, it wasn't ready when I got there. There was an overabundance of onions and peppers, and the bread was a sloppy mess. I'm not sure what that cheesesteak guy was eating, but it wasn't this. The flavor was good, but the wait and the lack of a crust on the bread makes this a solid 2* review. There are way better steaks, even in Delaware.

Although it takes a while to get your food; it's definitely worth the wait. The chef is engaging and accommodating. It appears to be a family owned and operated establishment. I'd recommend placing your order by calling ahead and allowing plenty of time.

I absolutely love this place! I would suggest if in a hurry order about 1 hour ahead as they prepare your food fresh to order so impatient people dont even bother coming if you don't want to wait awhile. I've met great people while waiting on orders, the atmosphere is very welcoming you will meet wonderful faces while you wait. The owner and Chef is by far one of the most nicest, comforting people I have met. Cheesesteaks by far the best in De, Size is incomparable to any other. Ribs, chicken and fish just as great we live for Friday Fish Day here. I called one time and was told they were out of cheesesteaks for the day. I was so sad because me and my husband really wanted one. 10 min later the Chef himself called me and said he would make one more just for me if I came down ASAP and that's exactly what I did. I was 10,100 and odd number of the cheesesteaks he had made for the day. He signed my container and we talked for awhile about his business success. I was very proud to see how appreciative he was and honored to serve us. Real down to earth guy. My husband threw my autographed container away by mistake I was very upset with him but I will never forget the hospitality and caring loving embrace I received from tenderbones. You will not be disappointed

Was just there an hour ago and was instantly greeted by the owner!! Opened the door for me and introduced himself and gave me a brief history on the establishment. I ordered a half rack of ribs and fries I called in. I watched other customers whom were gathering their orders and each was checked to make sure it was correct. The entire time the owner was making sure everyone was happy. Mind you...this was not during peak hours. I got my order after a 10 minute wait (not bad. It seemed like less). I assured them there was no need to check the order. I got in my car and made it a mile down the road...had to pull over. The aroma in the car said I needed to taste just ONE RIB. So after I ate the entire half rack on the side of the road.....I’m finally back at my hotel. EXTREMELY TENDER RIBS!! GREAT TASTE!! I will definitely be back. Food was GREAT...service and people were even better!!! I’m from Harrisburg,PA and will be working here for 6 months. Will be telling the folks back home about this gem of a rib house!! Already told the wife...and she’s now mad I told her these ribs were better than hers. Big mistake!! Thanks again Tenderbones!! The food didn’t even make it home.

Amazing amazing Barbeque place!! Ribs and chicken N waffles are amazing. The sides are w little small but amazing quality so it's totally worth it. If you are ordering sides you really like I highly advise you get two of them! You will thank me! Stop reading this review and order now its a 6 out of 5 stars!!!!

I had to give it a one star so that i could leave a comment me and my husband placed a order at 2:30 and was told are order would be ready at 5pm so we left and came back order wasn't ready until 6:20pm the customer service is the worst the young lady at the counter is rude the owner was not there i heard he was at a all you can eat contest when i receive my food i thought it was going to be delicious worst food ever ribs was burned at the end and very chewy the cheesesteak was nasty no taste to it the bread was soaked with oil couldn't even pick it up to eat it never again will i visit this place i should of read the reviews before going i also see that the owner do not comment to any of the reviews that's not how you keep a business running if any one ask me about this place i will tell them not to waste your time or money

Oh OMG the best cheese steak I’ve ever had. Everyone needs to try it. Tender bones is the best place for cheese steak. It in Bear, Delaware. The hospitality was amazing. I had free BBQ Chicken on top of my order. The guy is great.

3 lb. CHEESESTEAK!! If you find yourself in Bear, DE, I’m sorry. The good news is you will be near Tenderbones Rib Shack!! 3 lbs of Ribeye, fried onions, green peppers, mushrooms and cheese. The $15 price shocked me. But, I am going to get 4 meals out of it. It’s awesomeness. Chef Bones is wonderful. He numbers and signs every cheesesteak container. What surprised me the most was that only half the people that came in got cheesesteaks. I guess the other food is good also.
