We used to go here years ago when our kids were small. Not sure why we stopped until we got there. Food was average to say the least. If I pay $32 for a steak I expect a good steak. Too fatty and undercooked.

Excellent experience. We arrived at the busiest time. Late Sat afternoon in mid July with beautiful weather. We were told about a 35 min. wait. Very acceptable. We were seated 10 minutes later. Even better. Ordered steak and it was done to perfection. Talented chefs. Great food and friendly service. I can't ask for anything more.

Went with large party of 8. For appetizers we got the potato chip with some sort of blue cheese and the seafood dip. They were okay. Had the large spring mix salad with crab cake which was also just okay. Overall, the food was "just okay".

This place deserves some recognition for the delicious food and outstanding service. The food was amazing, came out quick and the servers went above and beyond to exceed all expectations. They should train other restaurants on how service works. If there was an empty plate at my table, any server (not just my own) would clean it up for me or ask if I wanted a refill. You can tell the employees care about their job and where they work. Will absolutely return and make this my go-to dinner spot next time I am in Rehoboth!

I would actually give 3 stars for service. 4.5 for food. The servers were very nice, just seem to have their heads in the clouds. First, she forgot to bring our wine. I had to ask the hostess to check on it and then we found out that they were actually out of what I ordered. By then, we already had our food so I just passed. Then they forgot my sons side of ranch and broccoli. To top it off, as soon as we sat down I told the waitress, its my husbands birthday please bring a candle with his dessert. So another waitress brings the dessert. No candle. I asked for one she said she had to see if they had any. Brings candle. No lighter. Ask for lighter, she hands us a long stick lighter....didnt even offer to light it. At point we just had to laugh. Thankfully they were very nice and the food was good to make up for it. I think the manager just needs to train the wait staff a bit more and it would be a great spot

Seating was quick and the order also came out quickly. Not overly crowded. Both my wife and I ordered meat dishes They came out like warm at best. Vegetables were also not warm. Waitress was nice but inept in dealing with issue. We had to ask for the manager who tried to give a reason for food not being hot. i.e. prime rib being rare will not be hot. I agreed and said that is why I ordered it medium. No answer for sides being cold. Manager had waitress inform me my dinner was comp. Ok. But I would have preferred to pay for a good meal. So, we wont be going back.

Attentive bar and wait staff, upon arriving greeted warmly by hostess. A freezing cold evening that thawed the minute we walked in. Apple slaw to die for. Seafood pasta was good, lobster macaroni was a little skimpy on lobster but flavor superb. Can't wait to go back again.

Nice, relaxed atmosphere. We ate here for brunch. They had a good variety of options. The seafood chowder could have used more seafood in it. The shrimp/lobster roll was very good. Just make sure your whole party is with you, as they only seat full parties.

Went to be seated, because my whole party was not there they could not seat me. Waited outside for 10 min till my party came, went back in for a table and was told that I would have to wait 15 min cause they had all the 6 or 8 empty tables promised. We have been eating at the Summerhouse for many years and over the past several years there seems to be much confusion over the seating process, I don't think it has to be so difficult, to many restaurants to eat at in RB I don't have to go back.

Went 5 PM on Monday 9.9.19. Saw four empty tables through window. Once inside saw two more. Was told that there was a twenty to forty minutes wait to be seated. "Go wait outside. Give me your phone and I'll text you once a table becomes available." Went elsewhere.

Hello, This is a reply. I was just going to keep it at three stars and spare you the details. Service was extremely slow. Our waitress was barely existent for most of our stay. We got our drink order, waited....waited...... When it arrived we only received the alcoholic drinks. Then she took app order. I received twice as much of one app, and when I told her I only wanted 6, not 12 oysters I was stared at like I had 3 heads. (Still didn't have my diet Coke) So finally got through apps. Sodas came. Took dinner order. My dinner was great. It was a special that came with dessert. My wife's mussels were inedible. I thought she was being a little dramatic until I tried one. Not good. We flagged down the waitress to ask for another round of drinks. 10 minutes later she shows up with our check. No drinks, no questions about whether or not we would like dessert. At that point I was like, ok I'm done with this place. I asked the waitress why she didn't ask about dessert, and where is my included dessert. She said, "Oh yeah, which one would you like?" I replied, I'll take the brownie sundae. We waited another 10 minutes. I thought someone was playing a joke on us. She came back with half of a brownie in a box. (Is that your idea of a brownie sundae?) I'm going out on a limb here saying she was probably trying to get as many tables in as possible to make some good tip money in the peak of tourist time. I also do realize that you were extremely busy and probably had "extras" on the waitstaff. That is why I kept it at 3 stars and didn't write a review. This is only a reply to your request.

We went for a late lunch/early dinner yesterday to avoid the crowds. There were about 10 other people in the whole restaurant. It took about 10 minutes for our waitress to come to the table, and another 10 minutes to actually get our drinks. My 2 young children ordered lemonades, and you would have thought we asked the waitress for her kidney. She eyerolled the bartender when we asked for a refill, and they exchanged words like we were being difficult. The waitress was very rude and to be honest, we felt uncomfortable the entire time because of the exchange of unpleasantries between her and the female bartender. We couldn’t wait to grab the check and leave. Won’t be coming back again.

Summer house is a great option for dinner when you don't want to pay upscale prices, which are common at the beach. Good for casual dinner or families looking for good food at reasonable prices. They have a lot of options in the $10 to $20 range, which isn't always easy to find in Rehoboth. I personally love their salads. I had the large summer house chopped and added steak. It was delicious and filling- a ton of food. My wife had the prime rib, which was amazing. They have many specials during the week (including half priced burgers and prime rib night), so check their web site. Solid dinner option at the beach.

Horrible service. We waited over an hour for our food. By the time we were seated the restaurant was pretty empty so I have no idea why it took that long. Then when our steak came out it burnt all the way through. Sent it back and it came out rare. Not a good experience.

I ordered one of the specials for the day (blackened chicken bowl with jasmine rice) it absolutely blew my taste buds into another reality... The only thing that could have better would be the overall menu selection. It wasn't bad by any means, it just seemed to be a bit limited is all.

Long standing restaurant has the feel and the cred to be called an old school Rehoboth eatery. People will remember the Long Island Ice Teas but I remember them serving up great hamburgers at an affordable price. They still have great deals and we wandered into Taco Tuesday. Good happy hour deals as well. This place is a classic restaurant with Rehoboth at it’s heart.

I wish I was able to give less than a star. My friends and I came on a Sunday evening and it wasn’t very busy. The menu sounded delicious and we were seated right away. After being seated we waited at least 10 minutes to be greeted, our service remained delayed throughout the entire visit. The bussers and food runners were super friendly and attentive. HOWEVER, while sitting and waiting for our meals or waitress we had to first listen to a “manager” scream at the hostess right next to our table for seating a 12 top before the entire party was there, so I already had a bad taste in my mouth witnessing her treat her employee like that. After receiving our food and paying $32 for two filet dishes that came out over cooked, tasteless AND somehow looking like a piece of pork, we decided not to eat the rest of our meals. We waited again for our server to eventually return back and in the meantime witnessed the same manager speak with a table regarding their concerns, give them a fake smile and then proceed to walk away shaking her head and rolling her eyes. At this point we knew we wouldn’t be sharing our concerns with management we just wanted to leave immediately. I won’t ever return and I’m utterly disappointed, being as I’ve visited multiple big fish restaurants and usually have acceptable experiences.

Really loved the atmosphere. It was a cozy warm, and I especially loved whatever light beach-y scent they use in the restaurant - it was cold and windy outside and it really made it feel more like summer. As for the food, it was delicious. I had the queen cut prime rib and it was cooked correctly at medium-rare. The mac & cheese and mashed potato sides were great as well. The server was very attentive, and we had at least one other person (a manager, I think) check on us partway through. Pricing was pretty typical for steaks on a boardwalk ($20-30 per) but they had less expensive options as well.

Went there a few months ago on a summer night. Ordered chicken wings and a few other things that were close to inedible. Had a couple mixed drinks and they were watered down. The bartender seemed nice. I had eaten there before and it was decent but, this time, I should've gotten my money back. Looked around at everything and Summer House needs a thorough cleaning. They also need to reconfigure their AC ducts so they're not blowing directly on customers sitting at the bar. Best thing that night was the wasted local who fell off their barstool

Nice atmosphere. Within walking distance from the beach. But service was not attentive and the menu stated lump crab cake. It was definitely not lump crab.. we are from Maryland..we know. Salmon was good but jasmin rice was horrible..order a different side. We asked for bread..never came and waitress never checked on us or the bread. Will try a different place next time.

A kind of cheesy family friendly atmosphere but the food and drink choices are much better than the atmosphere. Lobster special would be my recommendation. The speciality is seafood, but their non seafood options are still very good. Space is also much larger than anticipated. Service was pretty quick and extremely friendly and helpful, arguably the highlight of the meal. They can accommodate large groups pretty easily as well.

My go to place in Rehoboth Beach. Always great service, daily specials variety, happy hour with food, and changing dinner options. Very clean, upbeat, remodeled, numerous TV screens for everythting from sports, weather and news. $$ - fair prices with large portions. Owned by Big Fish. No reservations so June 15 to Labor Day is a mad house so go early or late and have your patient clothes on. It's worth the wait!

Being local to the Rehoboth Beach area, we like to explore before the area is absolutely full with tourists. When we learned the Summer House had a Thursday night “Whole lobster special”, we decided to give it a try. We are early diners (arrived around 5pm) and the place was sparse with patrons. The place filled up during our meal. It was nicely decorated and appeared very clean. It put us in mind of the place you might imagine at the beach and enjoy going to. We were greeted by our waitress, Jessica who couldn’t possibly make our dinner any better. She was knowledgeable, very pleasant and a great conversationalist without being obtrusive to our dinner. An absolute jewel! Our dinner arrived ($29 with two sides). The lobster was presented well with the claws being cracked and tail being cut. We had sweet potato fries and broccoli. Both sides were ample, tasty and prepared nicely. Every aspect of our visit to the Summer House was positive. We look forward to a return visit soon!

Should be 4 and a half stars. Haven't been in for a couple of years and after having lunch there, will be going back soon. Good sandwiches at reasonable prices. Sports bar vibe at lunch, but my wife thought her margarita was excellent and she has high standards. Pumpkin crab bisque also excellent. Typical parking problems as it is everywhere in Rehoboth even in off season.

I have been visiting The Summer House for 20 or more years. The food has been consistently very good and the prices are quite reasonable. The staff is customer friendly and helpful.

Depending on what you order, the food can be hit or miss. The hamburgers are consistently good. The seafood, not so much. The crab cakes are unimpressive...I've had much better elsewhere. The servers can either be nice or rude...I've had excellent service and really bad service on several occasions. I've been for Thanksgiving twice and been absolutely disappointed both times.

The food is great every time but the service can sometimes be very slow. The last time we were there we waited 20 minutesfor a server. Then we waited 50 minutes for our food and another 20 for the check. The good news is when the server did show up she was very pleasant. When they sit you in the back room I believe you can be forgotten.

Space is great. Casual vibe. The food was ok not anything to rave about. We had a particularly terrible server. Ordered medium well steak got very well done. Also got the wrong beer. We asked for fries to come out first and were told it wasn’t possible because of they way she inputs it in the system. She also spilled water all over our table which happens but then returned 20 minutes later to finally take our order. Over all the food was lack luster and service needs a great deal of improvement. I surely won’t be back. We did get a free dessert which took an additional 15 minutes to come out.
