The Chinese restaurant that I use as my benchmark in judging all others. I moved away from NJ and could not wait to move back just to have this place as an option again. BEST House Special Fried Rice you will ever have! Service and delivery are both great and the entire staff is super friendly. You will not be disappointed. Great Orange Beef and General Tso as well. Make sure to ask for their homemade hot mustard!

Of all the Chinese restaurants that I have eaten in in all the years I have lived in SNJ, I have never had a better meal then here. The food is fresh, properly cooked, and the owners are great, they care, they really are that their customers are happy.

It was ok. 4 of us ordered. We ordered 4 meals and apps and soups. There was only one container of white rice- not nearly enough. Kungpo shrimp was great. The veggie egg foo young and pork egg foo young were both very bland. The sweet and sour chicken was average. Scallion pancakes were delish and the spring rolls were great too (but FYI there’s shrimp in them- we weren’t aware when ordering online). We were so excited based on the reviews on here and on the Mount Laurel Facebook page—— but I don’t know if we’ll order from there again or not. Perhaps it just depends on what you order?!

Shanghai Express is in the Meeting House Square shopping center in Marlton. Parking was abundant on a Saturday evening, which may not be the busiest time here. I tried the General Tso's Chicken combination and I thought it was done pretty well. Certainly above average for South Jersey. I'd have to note that some of their dishes may not be in the typical Chinese takeout style that is prevalent in the area, but be adventurous and you may find something you like. Service is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful with suggestions. Overall, the restaurant looks clean and well-maintained too.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend. She said that the owner always greeted her by name, and that the food is delicious. We tried their food and it was excellent. This is the only Chinese restaurant we use now . The general tso's chicken is our favorite. We usually get take out and it is always ready on time and cooked fresh and hot. And the owner does always greet me by name. How does he do that?

Absolutely the Best Chinese food in the area ! Teddy & Kristen Are like family to me , I have went to this Restaurant for 20 years or more. The food is always the best! The Chicken and Broccoli is absolutely the best ever, the rice is so fluffy and good, the brown rice is my favorite it is so delicious. I have never ever had a bad meal here. we eat here at least once a week if not more . now I live farther away i drive from Pennsauken just for there food and delightful service it's just that good. specially when you find a restaurant that you love you will make the trip! Even when I lived in Utah and I made the trip home once a year this is the first place I would go to when I came home! I have had Friend's come from Utah for a visit , This is the first place I took them cause I knew they would love it and it sure did not disappoint them at all they had me go back so they could order take out food to have on the plane ride back to utah, it was not just adults she had her five kids with her and that's what they wanted for the plane ride home also! Yes people this Beautiful restaurant goes above and beyond to make this a happy belly full experience! And they do remember your name! Even when I call for take out Teddy the Owner always picks up the phone knows my voice and what I always order it's always ready when I get there! Just come to this Restaurant it will never Disappoint you I Guarantee!

Good food. You can tell it is fresh. ie: Broccoli was al dente and could not have been sitting in a steamer. You can dine there too, not only a take out Chinese restaurant. Clean!!!!! Owners are VERY friendly. Finally found a good one in my area after I left Medford/Marlton and could not feasibly go to King Wong anymore.

First time here and while the counter service guy was friendly, I cannot recommend this place. This is very typical white version of chinese food. My husband and I ordered the lunch special and while the prices were surprisingly good for their portions, our two very different meals came out tasting exactly the same, save for the meat. There was very little rice and very little meat in both dishes. Our server had exactly one expression. We were polite with our requests and thank-yous but utterly disappointed with the service and attitude of our server. Food was overly saucey, greasy, and salty. We really wanted to give this place a chance as it is convenient and so close to our office, but aside from the disappointing service, the food quality is just not up there. Head to Asian Chef instead.

The owner Teddy is so welcoming. He knows all his customers by name. The food is awesome. The best General's chicken I ever had. From the soup to egg rolls to your dinner, everything is made fresh and delicious. Service is great. It's a family affair with his wife waitressing. The menu is large and they will gladly accommodate any special requests. Most of their business is repeat customers who come for the good food and to be warmly greated by Teddy. They do deliver lunch and dinner. You won't disappointed!

HORRIBLE AND THEY SHOULD CARE MORE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! I usually order from this place but won’t be anymore very poor customer service and rude didn’t want to hear what was done wrong on there end even though I spent my money and also tip when I receive good services but because they were so busy they messed up my order and didn’t even care to fix it ! I HAD GUEST OVER AND THEY FORGOT MY ORDER FOR MY GUEST SO MY GUEST DID NOT END UP EATTING! HORRIBLE SERVICE TEDDY IS RUNNING . I guess he didn’t like when I asked him if he cooks with msg . This is the best Chinese food I've ever eaten! We have family who prefers to travel almost an hour in each direction for this food. It's consistent, fresh, and delicious. And who can forget Ted? He can't forget you. He's a great guy and always wears a smile. He never forgets your name and sometimes has your order before you tell him. The man really knows his customers. Can't forget about the waitress either, they are wonderful. The locals call the restaurant Ted's. Most people don't say Shanghai Express.

So funny so we are from out of town and the wife didnt want Chinese food. She complained about for 10 mins but after reading the reviews I gave it a shot even with the hate coming from her. Wife loved the food and the hospitality of the place so much she raved to her relatives about it then ate there again the next night. If your a nearby give it a shot. Worth the money and time. Good food even better customer service. Also, if you write a one line food was nasty review but not why NOBODY COUNTS THAT.

Since I was 5 years old this place has been my family's go-to restaurant for Chinese Delivery. We would get the same thing every time; Chicken and broccoli, Sautéed String Beans, And Orange Beef. The orange beef was plentiful and crispy on the outside while tender on the inside. Unfortunately, things seemed to have changed over the years. The price went up and the quality went down. The Orange Beef is now a bit fatty and the once crispy outside has turned in to a removable sleeve (picture a McDonald's Chicken Nugget) and the amount averages about 4 medium pieces (Yet, it is one of their most expensive dishes). The string beans vary from soggy and scarce to plentiful and crispy; two very different experiences and you just can't rely on the consistency to be stable. It's quite a shame because I very much enjoy the customer service both over the phone and in person. Another issue I have is that about 10 years ago I fell in love with their Crab Rangoon. The last two times I ordered it I was forced to throw it away for having a strange tangy taste and an overwhelming presence of oil. Their Beef Lo Mein is somewhat slightly below average; essentially, you should not order it during a date because I can give you three separate testimonials that it is so greasy it causes bowel distress. I've currently been searching other places to replace them. The one on Main Street in Maple Shade is rather good yet I cannot recall the name. I give them 3 stars because of the friendly and above amazing customer service and the fact that I have not tried the entire menu so I cannot, in good conscience, give this establishment less if I do not yet know the preparation and quality of their other menu options. However, after 20 some-odd years of patronage, I find myself somewhat of an expert regarding these aforementioned food selections.

This was our first time ordering and we where very disappointment with our food. Our $43 dollars worth of food went into the garbage. The beef sticks to much pepper flavor, salty and very hard to chew. Sweet and sour chicken very greasy, some not cooked and had no flavor. Pepper steak also no flavor. We will be returning to our other Chinese Take Out Restaurant which has more flavor, coupons, more food. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Sorry....

This is the hidden secret. Well not now. Just got done eating and I am about to leave and I have to finish this review before I leave. The service makes you believe you are part of the family honest. The food was delicious, General Tso Chicken was the best I have had in years. Wife's Seasme Chicken also perfect. Trust me you past this place tons of times blink you will miss it. Don't. It's in a strip mall but don't let that make up your mind. It could be in a high end chain easily beating them.

The guy was super nice and when he delivered actually called me by my first name (the name given to him), I ordered the general tso tofu and its good... Tofu not as crunchy as I wanted it. But great nonetheless.
