You will see the opinions of real people like you who purchased the services of Serendipity Restaurant (Restaurant) in the state of Delaware.
At the present this business gets a rating of 3.8 stars over 5 and that score has been based on 332 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is quite positive, and it's based on a high number of feddbacks, so we may think that the score is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to give their feddback when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to set tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant is classified in the category of Italian restaurant.
Went here for the "Seafood Breakfast" on a Sunday morning. Very good breakfast & the big picture windows let you look out over the Indian River Bay. There is seating outside. I never sat there.
Didn't know they served breakfast, too. Very good and reasonably priced. Awesome right on the water. Our server wasn't on the ball but that didn't really take away from the experience. It was nice.
Customer service was excellent. Cindy, our waitress, even gave us the history of the restaurant and the city itself! They certainly didn't skimp on food, either.
I love this restaurant, it has colorful decor and over looks the water. The food is good.
Loved the decor!!! So cute, and festive. The seafood mac n cheese was delicious!
L Our favorite Saturday am breakfast place.
OMG! YOU HAVE TO COME HERE FOR DINNER!!!! The best food I had in a long time. Portions were huge and the desserts were so big and delightful! I recommend this place. I will be driving back here to have dinner and its 3 hours from where I live.
Great food, eclectic decor, friendly staff
Very nice staff. Food was great! I got fried flounder sandwich. My man a BLT. Will definitely go again.
Didn't have one b/c the menu on the website was a blur & not even close to being legible! I called the restaurant to voice my concern, & instead of them trying to make the situation better, they said,"ok, we'll let the owner know" and hung up the phone. I don't even want to give them one star, but this rate and review system won't allow me to do so!
I ate here with my family and parents. I now know why we were the only family in the entire restaurant. When it came time to pay, an ignorant man in a chefs hat told my mother she couldn't use the gift certificate ( I bought them for Christmas) and a coupon for $10 off. My mother explained to him it's not two coupons as he cut her off saying" WELL DONT BOTHER COMING BACK!" Our waitress was nice but the"FAKE CHEF" was a jerk!
Great food and atmosphere. Very friendly staff.
Lovely way to spend a March afternoon. Portions were insane. Breads were magnificent and Mom made desserts to die for. Best part was Joanie, our server along with the eclectic atmosphere. Thanks
2nd time at Serendipity in 2 months. First time was good food and service. Took family there tonight, service slow (1/2 full restaurant), food overcooked for some meals and under cooked for others. Third time will be the deciding factor if this is off my list.
Not the best experience this time around (we visit the area in the summertime). Hair was found in two of our dishes. Food was mediocre, not much flavor. Service/staff was not friendly throughout restaurant. Drinks were good, ambiance nice. Other than that, unfortunately, will probably not return. Have had better experiences in past but seems to have gone downhill.
Great place
Always looking for a good place to eat, and we found it. Don't understand the bad reviews. Doesn't anyone send food back when it isn't up to par? Owners and cooks do always eat their own food. You have to let them know when the food isn't good. Our meals were great.
Fabulous view! Service was great, food ok, but it could've been what I ordered. I will go back and try again.
Nice view, food was “okay”, service and hospitality needs work. We would not return!
No need
Great breakfast & beautiful water view. Wonderful friendly hard working staff with great service! The cleanest restaurant I've ever seen!
Delicious seafood omelet and the best hashbrowns I have ever had. Fast friendly service! Even got homemade desserts to go...
The decor is fun...it has a homey feel...its on the water...big portions...need I say more ?
Beautiful view of the bay. Good food
Wonderful space and good food.
Pro: Large Dock A fun and cozy place with loads of food choices and great wait staff. Will be returning.
Very good service and food
Great food
We went there today for the first time and we were the only people there, Sunday afternoon, and the service was terrible. Waitress had a bad attitude from the beginning and also she didn't comeback to check on us or to refill our drinks and we had to go to the front to pay for our meals. There's definitely better places in the area. We won't comeback.
TimesVery nice, overlooking the bay, been here several
Good view of the water and great food
Love this place for breakfast
Great place to relax and have breakfast.
I love Serendipity! It is crazy ornate beautiful! Bread bar is yummy and I love white clam sauce linguine!!!!! Food is fabulous prices are reasonable for what you get. Walk outside on the dock or sit on patio (2) and watch the bay flow along
Terrific environment. Great food and the staff is attentive. Large portions.
Such a great place great food and incredible view.
Colorful, bright and awonderful location along the water, friendly staff, excellent food and large portions...
Such an awesomely eclectic place to eat....and they have great food, too!! Have taken many people to this restaurant and all have enjoyed it!!
Very slow to get our food, the table next to us came in after we ordered and got their food 10 to 15 minutes before us. There were 3 adults and 2 children in our group and 4 adults in the other group. Food was so so, we wouldn't be back.
Great food, service ok
Great breakfast, very good Western omlet.
The decor , the views, and the food are wonderful. So glad I stopped in.
Great place to eat and look out at the water.
Plenty of food for the money. Good service.
Very nice quaint little place...beautiful sunset..Food was great!
Food was absolutely disgusting. Service was very slow
We were so excited to finally eat at Serendipity, as we had even bought our parents a $50 gift certificate for Christmas. However, despite the great service we had from our waitress, we will never return. The "chef" refused to take our gift certificate, along with a Groupon, claiming we "aren't allowed to use 2 coupons." A gift certificate is NOT a coupon. After a loud and unnecessary verbal dispute, he finally decided to accept our payment. This unfortunate incident and extremely rude individual has sealed the deal for me. They will never get my service again. I now understand why my family was the one and only table dining in the restaurant.
Right of the Indian River Bay. This place is very unique. I have never been here for dinner but have gone multiple times for breakfast and it has always been great.
Food and atmosphere both are wonderful. Had the Polish platter, so much food. Had to bring some home to save room for the awesome pineapple upside down cake.
Seafood Omelet to die for, right on the water
Great atmosphere and lovely view of the bay, however it's incredibly pricey and the food is tasty but not THAT tasty. Their front walk that is painted pink is a hazard however, it was raining when we came and my fiancé slipped on the walk out front. That's not okay especially as it's right next to the handicap parking as well!! Some of the staff seemed way to new and out of sorts, our waiter was quick and attentive but again...food is good but not worth the price. Overall it's a fun one time dinner...cool design and decorating...not worth it to come back.
The ambiance is eclectic, and the staff is very friendly. The food was tasty, but the portions were rather large with a rather large bill. If the portions were a bit smaller, and the prices a bit more moderate, my rating would be higher.
Food has always been good. The wait staff is horrible. Seems like an easy fix.
Nothing great. Over priced. Nice view.
The bread bar there is amazing.
Wonderful location right on the water. Great food!
You have to check out Serendipity for the colorful decor (a rainbow of paper parasols covers the entire ceiling) and waterfront views. It's worth the departure from the highway, and once you find it, you'll love feeling off the beaten path. It's not fine dining by any means, just casual family friendly bites, great desserts, and generous libations. Take a stroll down the dock or sit on the colorful outdoor furniture while you're waiting for your meal.
Great food.. nice people
Friendly employees, great ambiance. Decor is different and the food is great too!
Delicious food in a very unique restaurant! Sat out by the water last night...gorgeous!!
Enjoy my visit very much, husband and I used to go on a regular basis. I will definitely have dinner there again.
We've been coming here for over 20 years, love this place, from the bread bar to their Italian food and especially their seafood. My favorite is the seafood Angelina with either sauce, red or white. The Veal Parmesan and Lasagna are also fantastic!
Fabulous food! Great owner!
Abort breakfast mission. I saw the commercials on TV and convinced my friends to take a 25-minute road trip to Serendipity. We arrived at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019. We were "greeted" by a cranky server saying she was "the only one" (serving customers). There were already five tables already seated (not 25)! When I asked if we could sit outside on the deck, the response was an even more emphatic "only one" comment. We promptly left and won't return to this poorly managed establishment.
Not impressed! But maybe it's more of a dinner place. We went for lunch! Awesomely decorated nice on the water. Maybe I will go back for dinner and give it a try!
Great service
We had 5 different dinners, none of them could be labeled good or above, no one finished even half the portion. Sauce or gravy was lacklustre, no spices. Staff was friendly enough and view was nice.
Decor was beautiful, friendly efficient staff, beautiful view and amazing food!!
We purchased coupons from WMTV47. They were not honored. We were offered a three course meal for $25. It sounded like a go deal and we went with it. The first course was a 1/2 of a bowl of what was supposed to be Maryland crab soup. No crab at all, vegetable soup mostly carrots and a dash of old bay seasoning. I had a seafood manicotti too much red sauce otherwise it was ok. My husband ordered a meat lasagna. He had to spit out first bite due to the noodles being completed dried out. The waiter did not do a check back so I shared my dinner with my husband. When the waiter returned we told him the lasagna was inedible. Never said sorry or offered us anything else. We asked to take the dessert to go. When he dropped the check we were charged for the lasagna. I asked to speak with a manager. Explaining that this dish wasn't edible. He said with an attitude that he would deduct for the lasagna but would charge for the soup and dessert. Okay, now the coupons said it was one per table not what I read at the time of purchase. Buy a $10 coupon and receive $20. He deducted only the $10. I said I would not return and he told me this is my choice. Yes it is and apparently he doesn't need my business. Eaten there many times and it was always enjoyable. Best crabcakes, however no longer on the menu. The two ladies that owned and operated Serendipity not in sight. Wonder if they sold. Anyway I will not return and Mr. Rude can eat the dried out lasagna. Hope he won't need a cap afterwards.
Went for breakfast. Took 15 minutes for them to take our order, when not that busy. Other than that food was great. scenery beautiful and very well decorated.will go again
I wasn't looking for a quirky waterfront place to eat but I found one! The chicken parm was good and I am told the polish kielbasa is very good. Great view too.
Good food, very large portions...Very cute beach plan e on the water. I would go again.
Tasteless food and desserts.
I have been here 4 times over about 14 years and it is always authentic but getting better and better! This visit we went here because somewhere else had a 45-50 minute wait and i am soooo glad we did. The atmosphere is beautiful and the view is amazing. The wait staff was very personable and kind. We loved the bread bar, even though it was hard to keep up the demand. My son had the lasagna which was HUGE! (You never hear the words "I'm full" but he had to call quits after half of the lasagna and bring the rest home for later) My 6 year old got the hot dog and fries; I was impressed that it was on Italian bread instead of just a roll. I got the Serendipity Kiss drink, it was really good, and the seafood Angelina(it was shrimp and scallops over linguine with a white sauce) and brought about half home also. We got the special seafood Mac & cheese (it had shrimp, scallops and crab) to bring home to my mom and topped off our meal with the mini peanut butter cake and ricotta cheesecake topped with blackberries. We brought about 3/4 of each of them home too and I really liked the peanut butter cake although I am not a big fan of peanut butter. Definitely will go back, maybe when it's cooler we could eat out on the beautiful deck. Loved walking on the dock too.
I service was great but the food was bland to tasteless. It seemed that no spices was used in the sauce which made the meal intolerable. The salmon was over cooked and dry and I found myself drinking a lot to get it down. I left with the feeling the meal should have been 25 bucks instead of 60. I place had a great view but the food far from that. Came here before years ago and it was delicious, sorry to say but not so much as of today.
Love this place off the beaten path. Its right on the water and the food is great!!
Good food, friendly service, fun decor!
A quaint restaurant that has fantastic food. Polish, Italian. And many more. The food is excellent and the portions are huge. The spaghetti sauce is the second best I have ever tasted ( my wife's being the best). Dont let the size of the building from the street view fool you it's not very wide but it is very deep and it has water view's the service is swift friendly and very attentive.
Qurirky decorations and a great view add to the dining experience. Food good and really nice buffets.
More people need to know about this hidden gem. Food is outstanding, atmosphere is happy and view is relaxing.
Cool whimsical decore and good food, especially the decadent sweet potato fries.
Great food, great service, great prices. Beautiful scenery right on the water. The restaurant was everything I hoped for while hosting a baby shower for almost 60 guests. The main entree's came out hot as well as the appetizers. Everybody agreed the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend and be returning if I'm in that area. Thank you for making this a day to remember!!
The staff and food are excellent. Prices are reasonable and they aren't chintzy with the amount. The bartenders are friendly and also very helpful when asked.
This is great place for breakfast lunch or dinner
I thought it was overpriced for mediocre food. I ordered a sauerkraut and kielbasa sandwich and it was $10 for just the sandwich no sides to go with it. Not even chips. Beautiful view.
Ate there twice. Large menu selection, however did not care for the quality, preparation or presentation of meals. I have no plans of returning.
Fish was a thawed frozen unedible white colored salmon. Did not come out with meal as it was still being cooked as entire table ate their food.
Had my birthday dinner there this past Tuesday along with my husband. I ordered the Seafood Manicotti and my husband Seafood Angelina. Although my meal was very good, the presentation was less than satisfactory. The manicotti was so big it was hanging off the plate and the contents were spilling out of both ends all over the table. My husband's entree was pasta with Shrimp and Scallops. Maybe 4 shrimp and equally as many very small scallops. For the price of each entree, I would have expected better.
My dining experience was very enjoyable. Food snd service were great.
Off the beaten trail. Can get to this restaurant by boat!
This has to be the worst place I have ever eaten in my entire life. Everything was zapped in the microwave and out of a can. It's official.....this place goes to the top as the worst restaurant out there. Someone please close it down! Someone please explain the "wheels " on the chairs? And the prices were over the top....Subway serves better than them. I will never be back!
Like the ambiance of the restaurant. Food portions were big.
Very pleasant atmosphere, food was delicious and service was excellent. Not to mention that beautiful view!
Very nice and clean
Fantastic for breakfast. Quirky atmosphere, friendly staff, nice view. Yummy breakfast/brunch dishes
We first visited Serendipity one afternoon as we were wandering around. We ordered dessert and coffee. The waitress was friendly and accommodating and we left thinking dinner at Serendipity would be delightful. The atmosphere was quite unique and the view of the Indian River bay was awesome. When we returned for dinner about a week later the experience was less than wonderful. At the time we entered the restaurant had one other couple so seating was no problem. The waitress approached and we asked for water as we studied the menu. She was pleasant but her appearance was quite untidy with food stains on her blouse. Nonetheless we ordered. My friend ordered the pierogies, his mother ordered shrimp, and I ordered the seafood manicotti special. We enjoyed the bread bar and waited patiently for our food to arrive. When it did the manicotti was literally hanging off both ends of the plate and there was no place on the plate that you could touch without your fingers getting sauce all over them. I’m sure the waitress experienced the same problem. The waitress never came back to check on us so I could not tell her the manicotti was cold. When she did my friend asked if she could refill his water which she did and subsequently disappeared. When she returned I asked for water and she looked at my friend’s glass and asked if he was going to drink that? I guess she expected him to give it to me. We ordered desserts to go and requested boxes for our food. That took a considerable amount of time. I doubt that we will return since the whole experience left a lot to be desired. With a beautiful view one would think the restaurant would be a lot different. My error.....
Nice place. Very cool atmosphere. Quick service. Daily specials were good
The food was delicious
Teriffic view great wait staff. Excellent tasty food cooked to order. Colors everywhere.
Great food. Wonderful ambience. Beautiful view. Superb service. Crab cakes and seafood manicotti are fantastic
We have been there on numerous occasions. We find the atmosphere fun, the staff friendly, the food outstanding , the decor unique, the view nice and is one of the first places we bring visitors. The seafood omelette is to die for and the Polish platter takes me home. Love it.
Great food and service. Fun for valentine's day! Crazy decorations.
Food was good. The decor is s bit crazy, but fun...right on the water.
We love the views and the decor. Been going there since moving to Delaware 10 years ago. Food is good.
Must have been a bad night. Server was great and fun. The view of the river was great. The food was totally forgettable.
The best staff, food, and all around. Eat restaurant.
Wonderful food, eclectic atmosphere a hidden gem!
The water views at this restaurant are wonderful. The food is good and so is the service. If you are on a budget but want the waterfront dining, you can get a pizza for about $12. Other meals run approximately $20. They also have polish entrees.
The owners should put more focus on the food and cleaning than adding to the quirky decor. Service was not good, breakfast food was not good, everything seemed a bit grungy. It felt like eating in a thrift store. Lovely air freshener in the restroom. Overall pretty tacky.
Very good food and good service
A little pricey but food was good and great view of water
Took awhile for employees to "warm up"
Great fresh food served hot.
I really like that place
Nice view outside seating in good weather mostly good food
Lovely waterfront restaurant with Italian Flare & Ambiance. I stopped by for lunch on Saturday, the restaurant was very slow early afternoon. They offer a dinner buffet on the weekends and perhaps their patrons were waiting for 5pm when things got started. I got the Deluxe Club which was very good. Small garden salad was just OK, needing more ingredients than lettuce, 2 slices of cucumbers and couple cherry tomatoes. Bronze statues, bold artwork with waterview dining was clean and tastefully decorated for the Holidays. Small bar area if your waiting to be seated. Definitely NOT a Sports Bar - no TVs. Prices are on the high side, but the restaurant is quite elegant. Pasta dishes, fish, veal, steak, chicken & sandwiches should have something for everyone in your party. Definitely worth a visit to check them out!
What a hidden gem! Went there during restaurant week and was beyond pleasantly surprised! The initial impression of the places is not the best from the front view, but once you walk into the door, you are taken into a whole different world. There are lovely views and a nice deck out back to sit overlooking the bay. The food is very good and PLENTIFUL. I think the slice of lasagna they serve could feed a person for a WEEK! The German platter of halupki and perogi reminded me of something my grandmother would have made. The service is exceptional and the wait staff very attentive and pleasant. Highly recommend this out of the way place!
It's cute. The food is good and consistent. Had the pizza for the first time. It's was very good
Pleasantly surprised at how nicely decorated this restaurant was. We sat at a table next to the water. The seafood we had that day was delicious. Definitely will return.
Love the food, staff and the view. I haven't had anything bad here. This place is worth the visit and the menu prices are reasonable. You get a lot of food for the price. You will not leave starving. The indoor decor is beautiful, love how they decorate.
Super rude. I'm literally writing this review 30 seconds after ordering 3 large pizzas for takeout. The woman on the other end of the line could not have cared less, and after I ordered, she spent 10 seconds yelling back to the kitchen to ask how long it would be, then barked "30 minutes" into the phone and hung up immediately without so much as a "thanks".
The buffet was very good and waitress was great beautiful inside
Food was wonderful. Wait for food was a little longer than a typical restaurant. Atmosphere was wonderfully unique and eclectic.
The waterfront, Eclectic decor and menu itself makes this restaurant a worth while destination location. Than, you add the cleanliness, culinary expertise in Polish, Italian and American East Coast Seafood staples and it's a Serendipitious occasion. The chef's experience is obvious upon your palette. Clean restrooms, boat docks and the Fact that every customer is a Local for their time well spent there.
Had a Birthday party. Thanks for making it a great time
Slow with service waitress was annoyed when we asked for refills on our drinks food was ok
I went there a couple weeks ago & been meaning to write a review. I was highly disappointed I live in long neck & I have heard that there breakfast was good especially the seafood omelette. We wanted to stay local so we went there first thing Sunday morning when they opened. First of all, when we entered and were told to sit anywhere then the server came and apologized because they didn’t realize we had another person who was outside still walking in and made us move. We heard the owner or manager giving the server a hard time about where we sat at, he was loud and had an attitude. We let it go and sat down, the server was very nice. The problem was when we got our food it was not good at all. I got the cheese steak omelette it had no flavor and the potatoes were lukewarm and old like they were reheated. My husband got the seafood omelette and the whole top of the omelette was burnt and they tried covering it up with whatever sauce or cheese they put on top of it. I got a side order of sausage for my four year old and he wouldn’t eat them because they were so black and burnt. Every one’s potatoes and eggs were disgusting and unedible when the server came to check in we let her know in a nice way that we were disappointed. She took food back and brought us back our bill. No one apologized or tried to make it right. We went to pay for the food and expressed our dissatisfaction to the cashier, when we told him about the potatoes he literally told us they reheated them from the day before... I couldn’t even believe they would admit that. We told them we would still pay but couldn’t believe no one acknowledged what we were saying or even give a discount based on the TERRIBLE experience. It’s sad because the first time we went there we had dinner and it was good but we will NEVER go back because that was truly a waste of money and we went home hungry. The funny thing is as we were leaving, our friend looked in the kitchen and seen them making new potatoes. By the way other then our family there was only one other couple there that morning, like I said we got there shortly after they opened so there was no excuse for the terrible excuse of food we got served for breakfast.
Beautiful view, great food, friendly staff, good prices, perfect portions. Must visit loved it!!
Great food and better waitress.
Food could be better can't beat the view
This is an eclectic place (i.e., the ceiling is covered with multicolored paper umbrellas) -- but it also comes with beautiful waterfront views, outdoor seating, and delicious food. They have an extensive lineup of Italian food, but also feature seafood and Polish entrees! For the ambitious eater, try their pound-sized meatballs and their FIVE pound lasagna dinner. (carryout containers included!) AND, they have a bread bar!!
Love the beautiful view and the character of the place. The food and staff are wonderful.
Nice atmosphere, good service, yummy food. I couldn't leave without a to go dessert
Place is awesome. Great service and food. Get the pinapple upside down cake.
Great view, food was good, felt it may have been a little overpriced.
Super fun place and the food is delicious. The portions are unreal so come hungry. You will find yourself walking into a family ran environment full of flavor. A must if your in the area.
My husband and I stopped here this weekend for the first time. We LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT!!!!! The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was nice, the view was pretty, and the food was delicious!!!!!! I definitely would suggest it here!!!!
Not as good as usual. Service is great but food was a little bland
Nice place very peaceful.
They get it right every time. Great food and awesome service. Being there takes me to my HAPPY PLACE.
As usual you get a lot of food but you pay for it I'm not big on their spaghetti type sauce it's a little too sweet for me but most people like it. Got a dessert and it was so dry. But for the most part the family really enjoyed it.
Great food and atmosphere, frend family place, very unique
Great meal and fantastic service. 3 rd time 5 Star
Great food. Fast service.
Excellent food, staff and such a collective artsy place!
Always a great breakfast
Pasta is always hard, avoid takeout, better food if you eat at restaurant for some reason
Good breakfast and beautiful view. Dinner was ok, nothing special on the menu that jumps out at you. "NO substitutions".... never understand this comment on a menu.....not everyone likes it the same, thats why they go out to dinner to be accommodated. Stick with breakfast or lunch.... for a good burger!
A buffet that when you are totally full you will wish you had more room.
Great atmosphere and great food. Always good every visit.
Lovely place on the Indian River, but food not the best & can't be served outside on deck for lunch. C. D.
They have the best everything!!!
Really quaint inside with great views of the water but unfortunately the food was just so so. Our server Donna was excellent which made our visit enjoyable but we won't be returning.
Excellent food and service
Great bloody mary, delicious crab dip and our waitress Nikki was very personable & knowledgeable about the menu selections. Will definitely go back. Great water view.
I only do take out and really good
Nice quaint place. Large portions. Best lasagna I have ever had hands down. Will come back. Will tell my friends to come too!
Crab Imperial was good. Offensive oder in restaurant.
