We just ate at Nora Lees for the first time. The decor was different and a little dark but you could talk and our table was nice and private. Our server was very pleasant and she attended to us nicely. We ordered our food and ask for everything to come out together. Our server brought our drinks (she forgot to mention that they had beer on tap) and a basket of home made bread and Cajun butter that was delicious. And then we waited....... it took almost 40 minutes for our food to come out and it was not that busy. Once the food arrived all negatives went out the window because the food was top notched. I had the fried platter with a crab cake (awesome!), shrimp and oysters. Amazingly good. We will be back because the food was worth waiting every minute.

When I moved to Delaware, I didn't think I'd have any luck finding much regarding southern food much less Cajun food. Boy, was I wrong! This place is every bit as good as the food I've eaten in New Orleans! Seriously...I couldn't believe it. It's a little pricey but, from your first bite to your last, it's worth every penny!

Good food reasonably priced.

Ive been here a few times and its good every time! Our most recent visit we had Jet(I hope I have that name right) and she was fantastic! The food is phenomenal, never any complaints from me!

Great food in a very unique quaint restaurant!

Had dinner here last night and the food is amazing. Great change from the typical stuff in Wilmington. With the four of us we had Cajun chicken nachos, can't remember what the crab meat with toasted bread was called but delicious, southern fried crab cakes, lobster ravioli and we loved everything. Getting our meals was a little slow but with needing to digest appetizers it was ok. Would recommend.

Service, amazing. The best food of our lives. Sweet, spicy, savory and definitely will make you close your eyes. Best kept secret. You won’t regret. Diet accommodations as well. Amazing. Nothing else I can say other than the best.

Love this place, small, cozy and the feel of mardi gras. The selection of food and quality are on point. I love where it sits, on history itself

Great blackened crab cakes, nice vibe.

SUPERIOR Customer Service! Great food. Good music. Their wait staff went above and beyond the Call of Duty to help find a comfortable chair for one of the people in our party. The woman has terrible back pain normally and could not tolerate a hard wooden chair with a rigid back. The wait staff searched until they found a comfortable chair for her.

Historic Newcastle Gem. Food is amazing and different for the area. Great atmosphere.

Great food, recommend trying the chicken nachos. Really nice inside, really friendly staff

Mediocre food. Decent service.

Fun spot to chill out. Food was good

Great Happy Hour... helpful staff! The bartender was great helping us roll through our options, he even suggested a twist to a favorite drink!!!

Nice place good food but a little pricey

Nice restaurant. Food is good and drinks were good

Food was very tasty and flavorful! The wait staff was very nice and got us everything we needed even when it was very busy. I recommend calling ahead for a table. It's a bit on the pricy side but overall worth it.

They have perfected blackened food! Just the smell wafting out of the restaurant walking by it puts a smile on my face. A trip to New Castle means we must stop in for lunch! Very responsive friendly staff!

This french quarter bistro is everything to expect in a classic Louisiana restaurant. While the food is stunning, the service leaves more to be desired. Waiting an hour for a burger is unacceptable. This is completely worth the visit if your around. A solid 4 stars.

Waitress was friendly and attentive. Decor was... Interesting. The food overall however, is downright terrible. To be fair, the blackened fish was decent. The jambalaya was pretty bad, and the steak tips and tortellini special we got was honestly inedible. Would not go back.

Great Cajun spot nestled in old New castle. Great for a night out on the town. Food was terrific and service was good too. If you've been to Cajun Kate's they're kind of related. Except this place is a spot youd go for a sit down dinner and a nice evening. Wait staff was super cool and we snatched a Groupon for 40 bucks off. I got the steak and potatoes(I think) but it was super good.

Brings a little.cajun flair to the ordinary. The bananas foster is to die for. Wayne is the best bar tender.

Food and service were excellent. Cosy and unique restaurant, now on our favorites list.

I've been going here for years. The food is great! I love the new specials they've added since I eat there So often. Service went back to how it used to be, which is great! We stopped going for awhile due to poor service.

So where do i start here ... this is a very cool place , been wanting to try this place a couple of years , I'm a fan of the creole style food , the etouffee dishes which are staple meals of the culture, i was disappointed to not find anything of the sort , the style here is mainly spicy and blackened foods , which you'd expect to find but I'd like to see more balance to the menu ! This is a great place here and i see why its loved by many ... the best thing i had here was the death by chocolate. Lol , i myself had the blackened crab cakes , only two options were fried ( not a fan) or blackened ( turns out not a fan of the burned flavor of crab ) service was a bit slow but we had a party of 6 on a Friday night and ordered $250 worth of food . All in all I'll come back one day to try other items .. if you have not been here , i suggest you try it for yourself.

Nora Lee's has a very comfortable inviting atmosphere.... employees very friendly, look at you while speaking and treat you like they have known you for years. Restaurant has 5 rooms to dine in, a bar to sit at, 2 large single restrooms. Food is very flavorful, we tried portabella mushrooms with crabcake, blackened scallops, blackened crawfish ceaser wrap (homemade French fries) & finally crawfish jambalaya. We loved the portabella mushroom & crabcake (which was the size of the mushroom!!) And the crawfish jambalaya. I ordered a margarita on the rocks with silver which was served in a water glass (not a martini glass) and FRESH SQUEEZED LIME (they also make their own sweet & sour mix).... gets ya right in the back of your jaw and tastes fabulous. Our appetizers ran between $10-$15... same for lunch. BUT my margaritas were $8!!!! For homemade and fresh SQUEEZED I'm soooo down! Well worth it...(I'm picky) looking forward to going back and trying more out. Food over all was great but we did have our favorites. Staff said Friday's through Sundays are very busy.... some prices are high, some are fair. ... all is a personal preference. Scallops on the appetizers list was high.

This is a fun and spookily decorated restaurant. The atmosphere is dim and romantic with a touch of voodoo vibes. The food is a bit expensive but worth every penny. You get hot bread at the beginning with some Cajun butter that’s super tasty. The hazelnut crusted crabcakes are delicious and the chicken and shrimp jambalaya is equally amazing. They also have a dessert menu and we had a dessert that tasted like a peanut butter Tastykake that we took with us to go because the dinner food was so filling! They have a women’s single bathroom and a men’s single bathroom. I highly recommend!

Returned for the delicious coconut shrimp, which didn't disappoint. My husband enjoyed the traditional jambalaya, his "go to" dish here. Friendly, professional servers in a destination restaurant. We'll definitely be back.

Good food, nice cozy

Food is amazing!!!! I came with my friend an she got the blackened salmon an i got the blackened crab cake and omg soooooo good!!! The staff is very friendly an welcoming....oh an this was my first time here an I Definitely will be back

Great place... Very home welcoming feeling.

Absurd prices, underwhelming food. Its not terrible but its not worth the price in my opinion when a crabcake costs 15 dollars that they can't even blacken right.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service.

Totally casual place, but the food was delicious, even in its presentation. Good beer selection. Very friendly, and helpful, wait staff. Definitely want to go back.

I had lunch with two people who grew up with a great fondness for Cajun cuisine, having grown up/lived around the region where it originated, so they were eager to try this place out. I'll start with the positives, our server was very attentive and friendly. Service was quick and any questions we had about the menu were addressed. Now, the not so positives. No beignets. What we thought to be a staple for a Cajun establishment was not be had. For appetizers we did order the Spicy Crawfish. The Spicy Crawfish featured battered fried crawfish covered in a honey habanero sauce. It had a slight kick of heat that lingered after the initial taste which was nice, but the sweetness was too overpowering making the dish seem more like candied crawfish rather than spicy. For lunch entrees my compatriots choose jambalaya. One chicken, one crawfish. I elected for the Voodoo chicken and shrimp po' boy. The jambalaya was predominately onions and bell peppers, and both in my lunch party agreed that the flavor was closer to eating stew over rice than a jambalaya. My Voodoo chicken and shrimp po' boy, emphasis on chicken, was drowned in a familiar sickly sweet, touch of hot, sauce. Yup, the sauce tasted just like what was served on the Spicy Crawfish. And I counted four pieces of shrimp lost in chunks of overcooked (dry) chicken. We all were quite disappointed with our meals, but as one of my fellow diners later stated, "nothing ventured, nothing gained." I say, in this case, nothing authentic, nothing Cajun.

Great food we had fries and coconut shrimp with water EVEN the water was good! We will return.

Great atmosphere, fantastic authentic food tastes, overall fast friendly service. If you're looking for a taste of New Orleans then this my friends is the place to be! Best of all Battery Park is within walking distance so you can walk off your meal with an amazing view!

Great Nawlins style food and top shelf service. Crawfish to Gator, baw ya better git some!

The food here is really good, the decor is great, and the staff is always friendly.

Jessica behind the bar was great today friendly and fast service as well as great recommendations. Blackened crab cake sandwich was outstanding! Sweet potato fries were delicious ... could have used a few more! Jalapeño margarita (with extra jalapeños) is fiery and delicious. Highly recommended. Cute little street with water front park at the end of it...just a two minute walk away.

Great food! Nice atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly

Not impressed with this place at all. I had the vegetable jambalaya and I was really enjoying it until I found a long blond hair in my food. My daughter had crab bisque and there were not pieces of crab in the bisque, we asked our waiter about this and he said they puree the crab meat plus bisque should be kinda thick not like soup. I also had a hurricane and anybody who has been to New Orleans knows what a hurricane tastes like and mine was not that good plus it was expensive. One good thing is they did take my meal off the bill and since my husband's meal came with jambalaya they took his off our bill too. Needless to say we will not be going back.

Nice staff with good food.

Service was very nice tonight! She was very helpful and we did not feel pressured into getting anything. We only got appetizers and desserts but it was more than enough. Captain Crunch chicken fingers are great along with the Cajun Popcorn!!

Very cliquey. The locals seemed to have a connection, but I felt like an outsider and the food was expensive and quite honestly sucked. I wont go back.

Very good food and the Service is very good.

1st time there...it was great service...food was wonderful..definitely worth the drive and my drink was very good..and it was definitely a real new Orleans feel to it

Very good, prices good and service very good. I will go back.

We liked the atmosphere. As a vegetarian there wasnt very many options on the menu. Everyone enjoyed their food ! Nice staff.

Delicious as always. I tried something new, fried cat fish and chicken jambalaya (minus the pork) and it did not disappoint.

Outstanding food, nice seating.

Great service. Good food

The food here is amazing!

What a cool place! Very N'Orleans! Great service and good!

Excellent food great atmosphere friendly people. Give it a try!

Always a great time when we go, food is always delicious!

If you want some great authentic cajun food you need to check this place out!!!

I love Old New Castle. And I bike there all of the time. There are really only two places to eat there, but I had a catfish sandwich and fries. Plus, the ladies were delightful! Good food, and nice service.

Generally good menu. Quality of service and food were fair. In my option some of the prices were high. But overall decent chill spot for a relaxed date night. Great location for a walk along the water.

We were visiting New Castle, Delaware, and happened upon this restaurant for lunch in the heart of this small and very quaint historical village. The food is more or less Cajun, but you want something in particular, ask to have spicing/ sauce on the side. It was a great place to be in at this time because it was decorated so well all over for Halloween. We were very pleased with the service and our entrees ( try the po-boy sandwich! )Do stop in here if you visit New Castle.

It was a very cozy & inviting place. The live band & food was awesome! Looking forward to trying EVERYTHING.

Great food good service. Wayne was my server recently. Good service

Better on weekdays: less noise, more attentive service. Priced high for the relative value, but a novelty, for a change. Beer and wine prices reasonable, appetizers high.

Who knew a little piece of New Orleans could be found so close to home! Delicious food, great menu selection and wonderful atmosphere.

Great food and great atmosphere. Our server was very people oriented and it was nice to see they were on Groupon!

We went 6/28/19 and our waitress, Jett, was the bomb! Not only was she personable, attentive and bubbly. She was a pleasure to have her wait on us. I'm not taking away from the other workers, I'm just complimenting Jett. Credit is given where credit is due

I was hoping for a great experience at Nora Lees, but unfortunately it was just so-so. The atmosphere is very inviting, and the room(s) were dimly lit and nicely decorated. I really enjoyed the environment. The service was average+, and our server was polite and helped us decide on a few things. I got the coconut shrimp appetizer, which was good in ever respect other than it was slightly undercooked. The shrimp they used was a very good size, but needed just 60 more seconds in the fryer. We both got jambalaya, and it wasn't very good. Overly season, way too much paprika and concentrated tomato flavor. I'm not very familiar with Cajun/Creole food, but my DP was, having spent time in Louisiana. She was not very happy with the jambalaya, either. Disappointing, as I really wanted to like this place!

I went here after my wedding about three years ago after becoming a regular and I have never once regretted it. I love this place - from the laid back staff to the delicious food. They also have live music here and there. Check it out if your nearby but make sure you understand that they actually cook the food so you'll have to wait. Also, the building is small, so the staff are sometimes held up with other tables. Be patient. They'll get to ya.

Wait staff as good as the food. Excellent.

Very good crawfish jumbalaya and good peanut butter cake. Nice vibe to this cozy place.

Good food and atmosphere but it's pricey. $$$$

Been here quite a few times. Is it authentic Cajun Louisiana food? Not quite, but it's still delicious all the same. The hazelnut crusted crab cakes are the best. I've never had a flavor like that for a crab cake, it's really unique and something I find myself always coming back for. The Cap'n Crunch chicken fingers are a really neat twist too. I'd also recommend the blBurbon Cashew Chicken.

Authentic always hot and fresh

Great jazz music! The atmosphere is great, a slice of New Orleans. The food is delicious. I have never been disappointed. The bartender Wayne gives the best service!

Great food. Terrible service. My wife had the Lobster Ravioli with Blackened Shrimp & Scallops

My husband and I enjoyed our meal 9/22/18 very nice setting, food was amazing!! He had the ravioli lobster and shrimp and I had the hazelnut encrusted crab cakes and they were not stingy(huge crab cakes)!! Our waitress Kat was phenomenal(great customer service Kat) !! Thanks again and we will definitely be back!!

We ate here yesterday night on 09/21/18. We came here for the first time a few weeks ago and loved the food and atmosphere but that wasn’t the case this time. And there was nothing wrong with the food except he dessert but what bugged me was our waiter. It was an older gentleman who “served “ us but did a very poor job that put a damper on my date with my husband. Our server just kept hanging out at the bar instead of helping us out talking to others. He didn’t even serve us our food but another girl took our food to us. We ordered water at first and when my husband wanted a soda our server didn’t even come by to ask how everything was. So I had to get the attention of a host I believe for more water because he didn’t even check us for water at that point either. Then as soon as he saw that the host took our soda and water order he rushed over to help her. The dessert was on the house because there wasn’t any rasberry sauce on it even though it said there was on the dessert menu. So basically our server kinda ruined our time that night. I don’t expect to be treated like royalty but I at least expect some sort of effort. None seemed to be given this time I went

AWESOME FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE

If you like flavorful food and friendly people, this place is for you.

Great Cajun food in a cool atmosphere. Friendly service as well. We keep going back. Get the blackened scallops and the Crawfish.

First time dining here - won't be the last! Very helpful wait staff (Jess) pointed out which dishes weren't spicy. Amazing hazelnut crusted crab cakes, generous portion; very good coconut shrimp, 6 served as entree; sweet potato mash - delicious. Sides of bread and hush puppies unremarkable - don't waste space on them, save it for dessert, the tiramisu was great!

It's a nice place to eat. The staff is friendly and the food is good. I like the all around style of the place.

Had a great experience! Servers were polite, the food came out in a timely fashion and it tasted great as well. First time trying gator and it was amazing. Definitely recommended

Brought my wife here for her birthday...this place was terrible. Very long waiting times, subpar service. I had ordered the blackened salmon and it arrived raw ! My wife had ordered the pistachio chicken that had also arrived half cooked. Very disappointing.

I ordered the Lobster ravioli, with lump crab, shrimp, scallops, and mixed veggies . Very tasty although it needed a little more sauce added. Very relaxed atmosphere. I recommend.

Hidden gem, order anything it's all amazing and the bartenders are awesome!

Great Atmosphere, little confusing when you first walk in as theres a walled off area directly in front of you making the entry way a little cramped. Always pleasant employees and always good happy hour drinks and menu. Love the food and the spice you certainly wont be disappointed coming here.

Absolutely delicious food! I love, love , love their hush puppies! The portions are a good size.

Went to historic New Castle, Delaware today. We Dined at Nora Lees. It's the best Cajun / Creole restaurant this side of The Big Easy. The gumbo was to die for. The Cajun meatloaf was outstanding. We will, no doubt, be returning.

MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT IN DELAWARE!!! I have been here a number of times and have not had a bad meal. Catfish with jambalaya...excellent. Meatloaf....amazing. Wings...awesome. The decor can make you forget you're in DE because even tho it's small, this place looks like it fell out of New Orleans. A hidden gem that cannot be praised enough. Service is always on point and order the Death By Chocolate as a finisher and its match set!

Love this place... I'm from Philly...my best friend took me here..great environment... Wayne is the best...I'll DEFINITELY go back...HIGHLY recommend

The food and service is great

Unique type of restaurant & fun atmosphere. Waitress was great. Love the pistachio coated chicken!

First time here. Wayne was great. Food is excellent. I'll def return!

Awesome atmosphere, great food, fantastic servers!!!

Cool vibe with a nice surprise upon walking in. The foods are more than delicious and are worth the prices. The place to dine!

Absolutely great place. I enjoyed the food, it's presentation, flavor and variety. Their crab cakes; order them. You'll thank me! It has a quaint atmosphere and is serving both the local community and tourists. The one issue that management must address is the slamming front door. UNACCEPTABLE. They pull in enough revenue to fix it.

Best Cajun food you will get around here. The jambalaya is the best.

Really captures the New Orleans vibe. I had the blackened chicken tenders and coconut shrimp, both of which were great.

Waitress was excellent! Food was over cooked

this is the second time we have sat at the bar for a meal and have been disappointed in the service. The food was acceptable but the 35 year old male bartender was less than helpful. We had to interrupt him every time we wanted to order a drink or our food. We also had to interrupt him when we wanted our check. Seems like he was always too busy to help us. Again, this was the second time this happened. Maybe try sitting at a table instead

I've eaten here several times, and been blown away each time. The food is incredible! The menu has tons of options for the adventurous eater. That said, outside of a limited kids' section, younger diners and those looking for more traditional fare might have a hard time finding something. As one might expect from a New Orleans-focused restaurant, some of the food can be pretty spicy. The decor and atmosphere are both impeccable as well. The whole place feels like it was ripped right out of Louisiana. The one thing to watch out for is the occasional live music; while the acts they book are usually at least pretty good, the volume is often a little too high for conversation, and since it's played over the restaurant's speakers, it can't really be avoided. For those looking for a cuisine that's a bit off the beaten trail, I can't recommend Nora Lee's highly enough.

Average food But tasty fries

Love the cajun inspired theme and cuisine. This place is a gem. The food is great. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is awesome. Been here several times. I've never been disappointed.

The food & service was absolutely amazing! I used a Groupon which is what brought us there, however I can't wait to go back.

Awesome Creole dishes!!! Atmosphere is lively and very similiar to sitting in a restaurant in French Quarters, New Orleans. Service is awesome and bartenders know exactly what they are doing. Additionally, awesome music for all! Definitely plan to go back! Great place for families or just sitting at the bar alone or with a friend.

Cute lil town. Wish there was a little more light in the restaurant. The backyard is beautiful and would have made for a good view while dining. Crawfish nachos were spicy and delicious. Sandwiches were okay.

I have visited Nora Lee's in the past and have reccomend Nora Lees to friends and family however this visit was horrible and the service shocked me we order the chicken taco appetizers which we ordered in the past there was no melted cheese and very little salsa it was very dry when we brought it to the attention of the waitress she brought an additional cup of salsa but charged us 75 cents when we asked her are you serious she said with an attitude I will take it off the bill this time but next time you will have to pay. I should have just sent the meal back I was so disappointed I am not sure there will be a next time and I will definitely hold off on future reccomendations.

I really love the atmosphere here and the food is as good as in New Orleans! Take a tour of the town and than stop in for lunch!

Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. New Orleans flare!

Beautiful restaurant, beautiful food, on the pricer side but worth every dollar of it. Amazing atmosphere

Excellent food!

The food here is delicious! I will definitely be going back.

What a unique fun setting and decor. Interesting menu. Very good service!

Gr8 place..... quiet & comfortable.... words can't describe the food or atmosphere.....#mustseetv

Delicious and a very friendly atmosphere. Wish they had beignets though.

Best place for Cajun food

The food here was great!!!! We tried the spicy crawfish appetizer which was delicious!! It was not too spicy for me because it is mixed with some sweetness (but I do enjoy food on the spicier side). I also highly recommend the crawfish jimbo. It was flavorful and filling. The blackened crab cakes were also good but it does have a bit of smokey flavor to it. We also had the blackened steak but I personally don't suggest anyone making that mistake like I did. Opt for something more traditionally Cajun and you can't go wrong. We also had the alligator sausage appetizer which again I could've done without.

Awesome place, atmosphere, food and staff! I've been to New Orleans several times and this place transported me there. Try the alligator jambalaya. It's delicious.

The food was delicious! Went there for lunch. I shared their Blackened Chicken Sandwich and Apple Walnut Salad. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing. They have gas and electric fireplaces running to make it a cozy experience. I recommend stopping in if you are looking for a place to eat while in Historic New Castle, you will Not be disappointed.

Wow is this place fantastic. A funky little restaurant with a great Creole menu. Hits included the Coconut Shrimp, Blackened Catfish, Mac and Cheese, and (of course) the Jambalaya.

Cozy environment, very relaxing, good blues playing. The waiter was amazing, and the food was incredible. I had two giant sized crab cakes that were very tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was amazing! I will definitely go back.

Food was fantastic, service was innatentive and slow. Ultimately we will definitely be back

Food, service and atmosphere were great! What a cozy place to eat in historic Old New Castle!

We stumbled upon this place because we were traveling out for a paranormal tour of Fort Delaware. We searched Google and Yelp for places and and it was a limited few. Nora Lees was a special gem. The atmosphere made me feel like I was in New Orleans. It was warm and featured that voodoo atmosphere that is done in a classy manner. The Food was pretty delicious. The prices are a little steep because of lack of competitors in the area and the use of seafood in many of the products. We ordered a ton of hush puppies. The one downside was the overuse of brown sugar/ cinnamon to create that sweet and tangy. It was sprinkled on every dish we had. This place requires reservations and patience. We arrived just in time around 5-6PM and grabbed the last table in a corner without a reservation. The bar and door way became a standing room for so many patrons as there are not many other places nearby like this. I highly recommend this place and wish there was one near me in the DC region.
